My D855 died a couple of months ago just after I received my Axon 7. And it was just about last week that I started tinkering again with it..
using boarddiag, I always failed with my emmc. so I replaced my emmc by putting a new one. now, I do have success in detecting the emmc but ddram fails. I think I messed up overheating the parts when I used the hot air gun. This was the first time I used one, so I was kinda expecting to mess it up.
So now, I'll wait another 2 weeks to get my ram.
anyone here who might be throwing their G3's away? I could use it to practice my electronics.

Hi there, my first post. Thank you for all of the great resources and contributions on here. I really appreciate all of this info and enjoy learning more about Android.
I had my 1.5 year old Verizon Note 3 (SM-N900V) that was acting weird so I warrantied and got a new one 2 months ago. It has been working great ever since. I have not rooted the phone or anything, running all stock software, Android 5.1.1. Last Tuesday I pulled my phone out of my pocket after lunchtime (had just spoken to my wife, sent a couple texts, you know the normal stuff maybe 30 minutes before) and it was dead.... I thought it was weird, thought maybe it just turned off o something, battery was about half full the last time I saw it. But nothing, nada, no response from leaving plugged in for a couple hours to charge. No vibrate on power+vol down+home button, not so response no vibrate from power button alone.
I have tried the mje and nc2 unbrick image with Win32Disk imager and am still getting zero response from the phone. Using a 32gb micro sd formatted to exfat. also tried fat 16.
I thought that I read when a phone is hard bricked and you are using the method with the unbrick image file on a micro sd card you will still get a vibrate when holding the buttons down even it the screen doesn't turn on? I am getting no response whatsoever.
I'm def. a newb in terms of my android rooting and flashing ROM's experience, I have only experimented with 2 different phones.
I have a feeling the phone is toast but I'm so confused by how it died... Wondering if maybe they sent me a refurb device when I warrantied it and it was just volatile? I'm also temped to order a new motherboard for it off of ebay but again I don't know enough to determine if it would work or it this is just a crapshoot. I am due for an upgrade but was hoping that I wouldn't have to upgrade for a few more months until the Note 5 drops in price a little, I was even going to just get the Note 4 because it has a microSD slot but it's the same price as the Note 5! I am using my old school Galaxy Nexus for the time being and it's killing me, the thing is a dinosaur!
Any help is appreciated.
Try to change out your battery in case battery is bad. It's cheaper and easier than motherboard swap. It sounds like no power to phone.
Would the battery just suddenly decide to go bad like that?

It doesnt seem to be hard bricked. Its sounds like a hardware issue. Like he said buy a cheap $5 battery to find out. And yes batteries do short and die very fast. If it was a replacement phone it was a refurbished one and you never know, that could have been the original problem with your replacement phone. You can get another mobo but you be careful that its doesn't have a bad imei.
If I helped Hit the Thanks Button Like This?

Ok I will try it. Thanks! The reason the battery thing threw me off is because when I called verizon to warranty it, I thought I would have to purchase a new battery because mine was 1.5 years old, but when I put it in the replacement phone (it didn't come with a battery so I had to use the original one) it worked great.
I broke down and bought the Note 5 last week. I like it, but I'm not as impressed as I was when I first got the Note 3. We'll see how it goes but it would be nice to fix the Note 3, root it and try a new rom on it, I haven't done that in a while.
Thanks again!
Ok guys maybe will work for your or not if u are reading this means that also u know what bootloop is. I am aware of the "new" way of fixing this by using only 4 cores instead of 6, well for me did not work so well. After a lot of scratching swears and other stuff i realized that actually this is a hardware problem, and i need to look at it as such.
01.So in the beginning i did try the oven charm, well was good for few hours... but after a short time it started to randomly reboot, specially after i was charging the phone(or getting intensive with it). (but not bootloop)
02. Second time i did use a strong hairdryer, to be more friendly, same thing few hours after it started with the random reboots. (but not bootloop)
so
03. i am suspecting that the problem starts from the snapdragon chipset, maybe a slow connection, so i added some pressure to the chip by adding some aluminum foil on top of it. Till now like this is working proper
CZ: So the main thing is: Because i set pressure on the Snapdragon chipset now my phone works again ^_^
IF situation changes i will let you know, but until now for me was the only way to fix this. (and believe me i did try all the software ways)
Later edit: almost two days since the massage and is rocking ^_^ jaja
I did that too, it worked for 2 or 3 days, then started to fall again.
If you want a permanent fix for your 5X you'll have to get the SoC re-soldered like these guys here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-5x/general/4gb-ram-upgraded-nexus-5x-t3588743
Third day for me still working
Got a free replacement mother board from LG in India
I had a bootloop problem last week after upgrading to 8.0.0 through the beta route. Phone was manufactured in 2015 and bought by me in Apr 2016. Hence, it was out of warranty. The phone was bought through the Google store. Initially, it was completely dead. Maybe through bootlooping it exhausted the battery. Anyway I charged it for several hours and then put it in the freezer for 2 hours. It started and went into bootloop. I could get it to go to bootloader mode and recovery mode. I then rang up Google support and after two phone calls and discussion on chat they sent me an email which said that I should contact LG in New Delhi, India where I am located. Yesterday I visited LG repair center. They without any demurring or hesitation agreed to replace the motherboard. They only wanted to see the invoice and despite it being out of warranty they are replacing the motherboard. I asked the executive why I should trust a new motherboard as many people have reported problems after getting a replacement. He said, and I cannot confirm the veracity, that the there are some changes in the new motherboard and it should not go into bootloop. I will only know once I get the phone back next week and run it over a period of time. Will keep people updated. Even though I bought it in India and it was delivered from Singapore by Google LG has replaced the motherboard.
hahaha hair dryer
I baked my motherboard in my mom's baker.
It's last about week then i sell it.
RIP MY LG G3
Is it still running ? Could you upload some pictures on where you applied the foil ?
at the moment not is not running it started to randomly reboot, and i made another flame bake and is gone, i will buy another cheap dead phone to play with, anyway this method is good if u want to recover at least the files bla bla, i need to find a better way how to fix the chipset. anyway is fun
I just baked my wife's 100% stock locked 5x.. 2 minutes at 150°c (from cold to temp, timed after it reached temperature) and 30 seconds at 235° ( again not setting the timer until it reached temperature).. Used a hair dryer to slowly bring the temps down ( mine has a cold air button) then put it in the freezer for 5 minutes...
Booted, transferred files, installed apps and its still running several hours later.. I'm going to factory reset it, unlock it and mod it until it dies..
I bought her a Nokia 7 plus replacement phone..
Had a bootloop today on my phone lgg6 Australian version. It was charging and over heated then would go to the LG logo and keep rebooting then it went to a yellowish screen with a whole heap of code about the battery. I pulled the phone appart to see if I could find anything wrong. And to my astonishment the heatsink paste was dried up and powdered. Cleaned it up replaced the thermal paste put it back together and works great. Also noticed doesn't get as got especially when charging. Hopefully this doesn't happen to anyone else. I noticed also in the last two weeks it's been sluggish and dozer a few times also rebooted once.
Any proof?Any pictures/videos about that?I just can't believe in this-
"heatsink paste was dried up and powdered,Cleaned it up replaced the thermal paste put it back together and works great".Looks like a bull**** for me,honestly.
Um your a moron why would I say it do ****
This is what happened
Then it bootlooped. Seriously I was trying to be helpful. Some people.
I'm not saying you're a troll,i just wanted to see a proof of that,ok?And that means i am a moron?
We'll learn to try not to be insulting.
And I didn't get any pictures of the heat sink paste but it was a pink powdery substance that wiped off when I touched it. Haven't had a good run with phones lately my Nexus 6p bootlooped and can't be repaired and now my lgg6 did and could be which I thought was pretty awesome. Considering the last LG phone I owned was a lgg2 which was pretty easy to work on also. I won't be buying another Huawei phone ever again that's for sure. I have owned every Nexus since the first one and they have all been great for what they are. I wouldn't mind buying a LG v30 as I didn't realise I couldn't unlock the bootloader when I bought this.
Hi
Just to say that same issue just happened couple of minutes ago... I didn't know G6 could run this bootloop problem. I had this issue with my old G4, now the G6...
I think I'll say ciao to LG even if I really like their product!
The phone is almost a year old now. Have you ever heard of a bootloop case? I'm pretty sure if there were problems like G3/G4 had, we'd knew already. Fortunately, the g6 is a sturdy device, both software and hardware, and it takes a lot of heavy usage every day. Not to mention flashing and testing custom roms almost daily,
This happened to my phone out of the blue last night. Kept on alternating between black screen and the lg logo. Did the reset, power button and volume down but that just gave me the same yellow screen. Charged in I could get the looping, unplugged with would just go black then back to yellow if I tried to reset or selected reboot. Then it just went dead despite having approx 50% battery. Unfortunately I bought it from eglobal about 10 months ago so I'm not holding out much hope for a successful warranty claim.
Thanks for the info above, there seems to be very little about this issue out there so at least I hae something to try.
I am using oneplus 5 more than 1 year now. But 2 months back, suddenly it started hanging like crazy. I tried to reboot, it was even hanging in the reboot. (I have never rooted device and I was on android oreo 8.1.0 and Oxygen OS 5.1.6).
After that, I visited oneplus's two different service centers, both did the same thing. First, they flashed/wiped my phone to factory reset then they checked the hardware. Both said that there is something wrong with hardware so they need to change motherboard which will cost around 2/3 cost of the whole phone. When I asked about the specific problem in hardware, they said they are not sure but the problem will be resolved once the motherboard will be changed.
As I didn't want to spend that much on the repair I tried a few things myself. I tried downgrading Oxygen OS to 5.1.5 and to my surprise my phone was started working normally again. But after 1 week it started hanging again. After that I have tried almost everything like clearing cache, factory reset the phone, downgrade Oxygen OS, upgrading OS to the beta version, now to latest OS 5.1.7 but it was same.
One thing that surprises me that it starts working normally randomly for 1-2 days then it goes back to hanging. It happens randomly and happened 7-8 times till now.
Last night I rooted my device to see if anything will change but it was of no use. My device was hanging like the same. Guys, please help me what should I do?
Did it start lagging even after factory reset(no 3rd party apps installed) or after you install apps/restoring backups?

It started hanging soon after factory reset , even before taking backup or installing any third party app.
My mom had an HTC one x years ago and after a couple years it started lagging really bad. She gave it to me when she got her new phone, even after a full wipe it still lagged and eventually started rebooting under load. I assume it was a motherboard problem in that case and possibly in yours also.

They've identified a motherboard issue. The same thing happened to my OP3. Unfortunately, there is no coming back from that. Like you, I tried different firmware, ROMs, settings, sim card, etc... Nothing you will do with software will fix your issue which is hardware.
After two months, I sold my OP3 for parts and bought a used OP5.

Yeah that's what I was told at the service center. I think I will have buy a new device
No no. What you do is buy one from eBay with a broken screen that's not blacklisted and swap the motherboard. It's around $100

That's a great idea man, Thanks. I will try this. Now I just need to find cheap oneplus 5 with working motherboard and a skilled technician who can swap motherboards.

It's not too hard to swap. It's just opening the phone that is a pain. This new glue things together is no fun.
I don't think the OnePlus 5 is glued together. It's just really tight clips that appear to be even harder to get open than the glue used in the iPhone's. (I just replaced the screen in my girlfriend's IPhone 6s and also opened up an iPhone 6 I am replacing the screen). Despite having cracked screens they came open pretty easy, just slice through the glue with your opening tool. Watching the videos the OnePlus has no glue but appears to be much tighter than the iPhone's.
I'm replacing the battery and charging port in mine soon so I can let you know how it goes. The battery is down to 81% health and dash charging isn't working anymore. It still can last 2 days despite the battery health drop so I'm not in a rush.
Shortly after getting my LG G4, the bootloop problem happened and I could not get it repaired because it was bought overseas..
So it stayed in a box for years.
The other day I made another attempt - this time I took its motherboard out (easy), then held a hair dryer to the CPU for 10 minutes, covering everything else.. now it works GREAT.. For about a week so far, it has been working great.. If you have a bootlooping phone because of that hardware error, I can assist.. Lemme know.
