Polar V800 screen rotation - Other SmartWatches

Hello all,
This is my first message on the XDA forum. I own a Polar V800 GPS smartwatch and i would like to create an option to rotate the 128x128 pixel screen by 90 degrees. This way i can put the watch around the bike stem and always read the training values while cycling. (watch around the handlebar doesn't fit)
How do i open the Polar V800 USB HID device from my pc and how do i edit the firmware? What coding language is used for the watch?
I know the basics of programming and enough math, so i hope i can figure out the screen rotation itself.
Any help is really appreciated!

[APP] Vehicle Switch -- Rotate Screen, turn on BT quickly & easily

I use my HTC Touch for GPS in the car, as well as being my media player, and also (obviously) as a phone.
This usage finds me frequently rotating the screen to the right, and turning on BT when I get in the car. Then when I get out, I have to undo those changes. It's a number of clicks to do this each time, and becoming something of a hassle.
I'm thinking of writing an application to automate the process. I wanted to get some feedback before I start.
1. Is anyone else interested in a project like this? (Note that this is just the beginning, additional functionality could be added, feel free to brainstorm!)
2. Is anyone who is interested in this project willing to beta-test this software?
Thanks for your input!

I have a TILT with the 85 degree hardware mod
use it in the car all the time. trouble is that I drive different cars, and do not have a mount. so I usuall have to have it sideways all the time, because of the charger, and rarely able to flip the keboard.
I have an HV switch in Quick menu, but it usually turns the screen the wrong way. also manila keeps making the screen go back to portrait.
I would like to have a quick hardware button to switch, but again, manila gets in the way. do you think you can eliminte that problem?
in other words, yes I am interested if that issue can be solved.
hi, i´m interested too man, but i have a touc cruise, so also i can be a betatester,
and i´m a programmer too. so.---
Totally want this!
You might want to check out G-Profile first, it will do this and more. Profiles can be set based on time, cell id, running programs, or even equipment, such as being connected to power and headset at the same time. You could have G-Profile launch the app you want, set the volume, ringers, screen orientation and brightness, and turn on/off BT and WiFi when connected, then automatically switch it all back when you disconnect. Best part of all though, when profiles are activated, instead of linking to a single app to be executed, you can have it run a mortscript, upon which the possilities are pretty much limitless. You could get in your car, plug in your phone and have the script ask you if you want to listen to music, or navigate, or both. I use this setup with a script that asks me if I want C-apiSRO or Coreplayer when I get in my car when I connect my BT headset.
Oh I kinda forgot the important part, here is the link.
http://www.ageye.de/index.php?s=gprofile/about
Its from the same dev that made G-alarm, which should give you an idea of how nice this app is. Oh and best part is that its free.
I'd love to see a simple application that will do this. I would personally like to see an icon that will rotate the screen 180 and 270 with a simple tap. Bluetooth part would be nice as well (personally wouldn't use it much because i have my bluetooth connected to my headphones or car bt).
+1 on G-Profile. It'll allow you to create profiles that control radios, orientation, and launch programs. Of course, you could also just make use Gyration or some other similar rotation program to allow you screen to rotate via the G-sensor.
Hi Guys - I've got a Mortscript script somewhere that does this, although in my case, it was to flip the display on my Athena 180 degree's, as it was suspended upside down on the car holder I've got. I ran it from the HTC Manila 2d programmes tab.
I'll try and dig it out, but really, it wasn't complexlicated - worth a look certainly.
(Hey Diablo, I played with Ageye's implementation, and found it to be similar to what I'm working on, with more options. This is a fun project though, so I'm going to stick with it if there's interest.)
This is simply a proof of concept to prove it works functionally.
Please note that there is no installer (.cab) package right now, nor any icon, and no application settings. When you launch the application, it will determine your screen's current orientation and flip it, and it will also determine your BT's current setting and flip it. That's all this will do in it's current state.
What I need from you:
What model phone do you have?
Did the functionality work as I described? Any problems?
How would you change/improve this application?
I am considering adding a first-run type setup to determine how you want to run the flip--IE just turn on BT (as a shortcut), etc. Ideas?
Note: As it stands right now, V15 of NFSFAN's ROM using M2D will not "flip" orientation. Titanium is fine, but M2D doesn't like the "flip" and the screen will revert to standard orientation, even though the application runs as normal and will enable/disable BT.
Simply unzip this package and place it on your phone's memory--local, SD card, it doesn't matter. Make sure you include the .exe and the .dll. Then you can run the application by clicking it. Note that you can click and hold on the app. to send a shortcut to "Programs", to make it convenient to launch.

Thanks!
Idk if you have found a solution for this yet but all this could be done quite easilly with mortsript. Then all you would have to do is run this when u get in and then run when u get out and it would do everything for you.

HD2 - Digital Compass: Manual Input Latitude and Longitude Coordinates

Hi All,
I would like to use the HTC HD2 build-in digital compass for navigation. Unfortnatually there is no possibility to input the coordinates manually. By clicking on the google map is for me no solution, because I have only the coordinates. So far the situation.
(by the way - I know about all and the best geocachesoftware ;-)... so please do not give me advise to use one of them: I want to use the build-in compass, I just like it!!!)
To be able to input the coordinates, following registry-inputs have to be changed:
\\\registry\HKLM\Software\HTC\DigitalCompass\...
--> PickedLongitude: coordinate in degree
--> PickedLatitude: coordinate in degree
--> IsDestinationMode: 0 --> 1
after changing, the digital compass has to be started: New target is set
It works but it is of course very uncomfortable. So I would like to use an user-interface. Is somewhere out there a GUI for this application? If not, would somebody of you like to make one? I think the programming is VERY simple. I haven't programed for WM yet, so I don't know what to do. You can also give me some advise how I could program a GUI. What tools do I need? This would be my first project ;-).
Thanks a lot for your help.
I'd love to see a feature like this. Would be great if the "Set Destination" button on the compass actually launched the GUI you're talking about, because the cut down Google Maps interface that does get launched is well below par, in my opinion.
so whats about that great idea?
i would love to have that with an interface..

Racing stopwatch ?

Hello all,
I am looking for a racing stopwatch.
I had a WM6.5 phone and the guys at ageye have worked with me to release the perfect program (G-RACE) but they are not planning to make it for android, therefore I need to find something that is close enough under Android or find someone that would be able to code it for me.
I work in truck racing and we have other requirements that the existing things I have seen, the best being ultrachron lite but basically I need to be able to time more than 1 vehicle with the program, so i need to be able to assign this laptime to this vehicle and this one to that vehicle and so on, and then sort out the results by fastest lap time, name of driver and/or other stuff.
If someone writes this app for me he gets invited to any race he wants in the european championship, possibly with a ride in the truck if we have a press day, anyway, we'll find a way
Thanks in advance for the help
Sounds like a great app. I'm a NASCAR fan though, do you include airfare and room? LOL (I'm in the U.S.)
I can find you a bunk in the mechanics trailer anytime
For the airfare it's going to be more complicated....
But a trip to the Nurburgring would thrill any nascar fan, more turns in 1 lap than in the entire season...
More seriously we can always work out something on team clothing and goodies if you're willing, it would be a quite simple app to do since I know exactly what is needed, but I can't code anything....I have a DOS program that does exactly what I need and I can send it if you want.
try sportstimer in the market
sry double post..
Hello,
Thanks for the sporstimer tip but it si not possible to use it for me.
I need a program where the tapping on the screen part is separated from the assigning this tap to that truck.
When you have 3 or 4 trucks passing by almost together you cannot look at the screen to see on which truck you are tapping and be accurate enough to tap when it passes the line, they are doing 162 when the pass so it means 44m/s...
Thanks again

[Q] Using accelerometer to perform actions

So I'm in the preliminary stages of doing an experimental HCI project for a capstone course. I have no android (java) coding experience but I do have background in C++, Python, and QT so I'm hoping to be able to pick up java relatively fast.
Anyways, the idea of my project relies on being able to take accelerometer readings to determine device tilt in the X and Y axis (as documented in the SensorEvent section in the Android Reference guide) and pipe it into an app such as Google Maps to perform a certain action (in this case I'm tying to pan the map).
I know there are games that use the accelerometer to determine tilt that exist out there (eg. Minion Rush when collecting bananas on the unicorn) so it should be well documented I'm hoping....
Is it possible to make an app that's a "skeleton" over Google Maps and when the app detects certain orientations of the phone to execute the appropriate function. eg. To pan in the direction the phone is tilted? It looks like there's the "CameraUpdateFactory.scrollBy(float, float)" function to pan the map that takes 2 floats as arguments can I take the accelerometer readings (X and Y) and plug them into this function? I'm somewhat familiar with QT signals and slots, is there something like that that exists in Android app development so when the phone is tilted past a certain angle it will emit a signal that can be captured and plugged into the above function?
Also can anyone point me to any HCI research papers that may deal with this topic or keywords to be searching for?

GETTING STARTED with Phone/Smartwatches like KingWear, Finow, Lemfo & Co

Hello,
iam interested in buying a round Smartwatch (i didnt like the sqaure style) and boarderless(without a black ring between case and display, but this isnt really needed) for about 100€/$ ... but have some questions before buying (you know it is a lot of money at all)...
- Is it possible to use it as a "full" tethering device (initiate a call via Smartwatch, get Messages AND REPLY SMS and Whatsapp messages shortly, i know the issue with the small keyboard !)?
- Wish to use the pedometer the whole day and may use the heart rate monitor sometimes (highly 1 to 2 times a day) and want to synchronize it via bluetooth (know this is mostly possible with fundowear app or the related alternatives)
- Didnt want to put in a sim, but like to have mobile networking functions! Is it possible to thetering for example the fundowear app and mobile network both parallele via bluetooth? (i know this may results in low datarates if possible, but wish a longer battery life with this.)
- According to this, i wish to use the "ok google" feature to simply search some informations on the internet.
- Like the full android on the smartwatch, so may i want to install some small apps to it... and which apps will be a must have for a smartwatch (may alternatives to preinstalled onces)?
- Wish to have the possibility to create or download a new Watchface (because not all on stock watchfaces are good or may too simple or too colorful, and i already noticed that it isnt simply like for android wear devices).
- And want the feature of swinging the arm to see the watchface for about two times an hour at least!
- On unbox and review videos i have seen the feature of switching to square aspect ratio, i want this feature too!
This questions and suggestions are mostly software or firmware related...
And which Smartwatch has the attribute of Waterresitence (so i can wash my hands with it, not for swimming or diving)? And want the possibility to change the armwrist with a standard clock armwrist!!! And whitch one has more than 2GB free disk space for some apps, pictures and may some voice records or notes?
I know this forum is the right place for all these questions but missing a sticky thread with answers for these or other questions...
So can you tell me which Smartwatch has all the features and functions and a battery for a daily use (about 12h, by using the listened features)???And is it possible to buy a cheap second charging cable (most are using the 4pin magnetic plug, may they are compatible)???
Thank you very much!

but didnt know if this is the same coding for other Smartwatches like KW88 or No.1 G6 or Y3 or DM368 or LF16 ... please help anyway
Thank you very much! I think the chinese Smartwatch thing is too frustrating at this time
This video may help you cut through a lot of the confusion so you can focus on which type of smartwatch will really fit your needs best: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvOvGThb3i4
