GETTING STARTED with Phone/Smartwatches like KingWear, Finow, Lemfo & Co - Other SmartWatches

Hello,
iam interested in buying a round Smartwatch (i didnt like the sqaure style) and boarderless(without a black ring between case and display, but this isnt really needed) for about 100€/$ ... but have some questions before buying (you know it is a lot of money at all)...
- Is it possible to use it as a "full" tethering device (initiate a call via Smartwatch, get Messages AND REPLY SMS and Whatsapp messages shortly, i know the issue with the small keyboard !)?
- Wish to use the pedometer the whole day and may use the heart rate monitor sometimes (highly 1 to 2 times a day) and want to synchronize it via bluetooth (know this is mostly possible with fundowear app or the related alternatives)
- Didnt want to put in a sim, but like to have mobile networking functions! Is it possible to thetering for example the fundowear app and mobile network both parallele via bluetooth? (i know this may results in low datarates if possible, but wish a longer battery life with this.)
- According to this, i wish to use the "ok google" feature to simply search some informations on the internet.
- Like the full android on the smartwatch, so may i want to install some small apps to it... and which apps will be a must have for a smartwatch (may alternatives to preinstalled onces)?
- Wish to have the possibility to create or download a new Watchface (because not all on stock watchfaces are good or may too simple or too colorful, and i already noticed that it isnt simply like for android wear devices).
- And want the feature of swinging the arm to see the watchface for about two times an hour at least!
- On unbox and review videos i have seen the feature of switching to square aspect ratio, i want this feature too!
This questions and suggestions are mostly software or firmware related...
And which Smartwatch has the attribute of Waterresitence (so i can wash my hands with it, not for swimming or diving)? And want the possibility to change the armwrist with a standard clock armwrist!!! And whitch one has more than 2GB free disk space for some apps, pictures and may some voice records or notes?
I know this forum is the right place for all these questions but missing a sticky thread with answers for these or other questions...
So can you tell me which Smartwatch has all the features and functions and a battery for a daily use (about 12h, by using the listened features)???And is it possible to buy a cheap second charging cable (most are using the 4pin magnetic plug, may they are compatible)???
Thank you very much!

Sort by first name? Battery level indicator? Call Forward?

Hi,
Got a brand new QTek 2020/Pocket PC. Syncs to my mac with PocketMac. Seems overall great but there are (?) also some incredible annoying things regarding the most basic features:
1. Can't decide number of rings/time before forwarding calls to voicemail.
Way too quick now. (However one feature lets you decide how many signals before automatic pick-up/microphone on)
2. Can't sort contacts by FIRST name (Only LAST or COMPANY).
3. No visible battery level in basic view. You need to tap your way into SETTINGS.
(It warns however when battery gets very low - Too late in most cases)
It consumes alot of battery so this feature is very crucial to me.
What's the deal not making this visible like on all other ever existing mobile phones in the whole wide world???
If anyone have some ideas and tips regarding this I would be very thankful.
Best/ Henkon
Hi
I thought there was a way to determine how many rings before voicemail, but it would seem there isn't, just about auto answer as you say.
Regarding contacts, if you look in Outlook I bet all your contacts are saved as Last, First. If you change these to First Last then they will store in first name order - plus it looks an awful lot tidier!
There is a crude batt level indicator if you tap the time in the top right corner, but also there are numerous programs that can amongst other things show a battery level indicator on your Today screen. I use PocketPlus but there are LOTS of others, just look in pocketgear, handandgo or one of the freeware options.
The XDA (specifically II) is a great piece of kit, but unfortunately MS / o2 do not provide as many phone functions as perhaps they should. The good thing about these phones is that you can get your own software (or even write it!) to fill these gaps.
I'd still rather have my II than any of the other phones I've had...and I've had quite a few.
Hope this helps.
Cheers
Anthony

[REQ] Object/Face detection with built in cam

Hi!
due i've been searching for such an application for years now (all the time i had an wm phone), i wonder, if there's any existing solutin or if this could be done anyway?
I've got supprised several time of what you crazy (an i really mean this in positive way) programmers are able to do!
this would be cool for many things:
- unlock device by facial detection
- identify objects from an database and display imformations (e.g. find a person in contacts)
- help people with alzheimer to idetify things/persons (my mother would have needed this)
- mixed v(irtual) r(erality) (display name of person on live-video image, but i doubt, it would be fast enough to do recignition in realtime)
- would be a great tool for professionals (if in "near" realtime to give infos about athlets to help reporters (think fraunhofer is working on something similar but never released something)
so, shure many will lough about my ideas, some will throw stones on me, but maybe some will find this idea worth thinking of twice.
Your's

Advice choosing Chinese smartwatch

Hi,
I'm looking for a smartwatch that, while connected via bluetooth with the smartphone, permits:
- to view and reply to notifications from messaging apps like WhatsApp (also recording the reply, it's not important to write it)
- to take incoming calls directly from the watch (speaking with the watch and not with the smartphone).
Moreover, I would like a fast smartwatch with a good battery.
Can you help me with some models? I like the finow x3 plus and the IQI I3, but I don't know if they have these features.
Thanks!

No. 1 D5+ Searching for Custom ROM's, companion app alternative

Hi guys,
I bought before 2 weeks a No.1 D5+ via Gearbest without any problems. Watch is working and really nice.
My problem is, that I want more a smartphone assistent instead of a stand alone watch (which the D5+ is disigned for).
I'm using the watch without SIM card. I thought that the D5+ will fulfill the requirements for companion or stand alone watch, but it is more a stand alone watch.
Do someone know that there are any custom roms for the D5+ (MTK6580) out there which are providing all the features, also of companion/bluetooth watches?
My main searched features are:
- Text notifications display
- Call notification + accept or decline incoming call
- BT call with watch via smartphone
- Music control via watch of smarphone music player app (i have a sony xperia Z5 compact)
- of course, flexible watch faces
... all other features are very welcome
If not, are there any other companion apps for smartphone usable which are working with the watch helper (on the watch) compatible? Or do somebody know, how I can disable the bluetooth connection alert from the watch helper app? I know that there is a Xposed module usable, but on my z5c (Android 7) there is no Xposed provided yet.
Thank's for your hints, advices and information.
Greetz,
Marc

( hope this helps)
Thanks for the link old_fart.
I red a little bin it this, but there are no Custom roms which I was searching for. But some interesting things. I will stay on watching this posts.
If someone knows complete new Custom rons for these smartwatches I would appreciate the information.

Best (cheap) smartwatch with custom app capability

Hey everyone,
I'm fairly new to the world of smartwatches, but I am doing some work where I'd like to be able to send some information 'covertly' to a smartwatch.
I assumed I might be able to just pick up a cheap smartwatch and install an APK of my own making on it as an app, relaying information from a connected phone or similar - however it would seem the majority of the cheaper brand smartwatches are just set up with a suite of applications and you can't change them.
I then realised that I don't even need the normal 'features' of a smartwatch - I only want to run the one android 'app'. I thought maybe there might be a way of putting some custom firmware on a device that would let me do something like this, which led me to your forums - but I'm a bit lost looking through in honesty.
So I'm looking for a bit of advice as to what type of smartwatch might be useful here, and if my previous idea is at all possible? Thanks for reading
