where is the bluetooth timeout setting on nougat? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hello,
does anybody know if there is a way to change the BT discovery timeout setting on nougat? my car has trouble connecting with my phone unless certain conditions are met, but I think that if I set the BT setting to never timeout the issue will be fixed.
Thanks in advance.

Bluetooth 'discoverable' always on?

Hi all,
Searched under 'bluetooth' with no obvious joy.
When I turn on bluetooth I have to manually make sure that the device is discoverable every time if I want to receive via bluetooth. Is it posible to make the device 'discoverable' automatically when I simply turn bluetooth on?
Thanks.
Matt
Well I'm surprised at you all! lol.
Sorry guys, been away (pc problems!! still ongoing but at least now I can connect to www) so not been watching the site.
Anyone any ideas on this?
Matt
I think you have to tick "receive incoming beams" under connections

All I did was go into bluetooth settings, make discoverable, and everytime I power on my BT Headset, it automatically connects.

Is beam receive switched off? This has been a very common problem with WM5 users before I've published the fix to it.

It should connect every time you power it up - even without your PDA being discoverable.
Hello!
Unfortunatley ihave the same issue when i'm connecting using Stereo BT Nokia BH-501. The problem is that each time after the BT is switched off and then switched on i need to go to Bluetooth settings and make an update for it and save. Only ofter these steps it reconnects to Hermes (HTC TyTN) and starting to play sounds and music through BT
Is it possible to make it fully reconnect automatically after it is switched on and how?
Thanks!
VJVolubilis can force you into discoverable mode from a shortcut, so you can drop that into your startup folder, but it's not advisable to keep yourself discoverable unless required.

Hey VJ
I just tried that... I made a shortcut with the -bluediscoveron paramenter and removed the -status parameter. I dropped it in my Windows\Startup folder.
It doesn't seem to be working, When I turn on my BT, Dicoverable Mode is still OFF. However after, I enable my BT and then click on the shortcut with -bludiscoveron parameter, it works.
Is there anyway to have Discoverable Mode on even after I turn off my BT and then on again?

BT Audio loosing settings

Hope someone can help me with my problem (Nothing found on XDA search).
I have a BT620s headset and it works great, both for stereo music and as a handsfree set.
The problem is, if I disconnect the bluetooth or answer a call I always loose the Wireless stereo. Under the BT devices is it still shows as selected but I always have to do a refresh reselect "wireless stereo" and save it again to get it working each time.
Is there something I can do to make it stick ie: registry setting?
Thanks
confirmed
Hi to All,
i have exactly the same problem. Actually, in my case even an alarm or a reminder switches the A2DP to mono and i am not able to go back to stereo without a soft reset....
Anyone have an idea?

Switch Display off with MS BT Stack

hi, for GPS purposes, i need to switch the display off while leaving the device on working, but apparantly the MS BT stack on my xda mini doesnt allow this... it always switches the screen back on. Using a blusoleil stack, this problem is fixed. but the bluesoleil stack isnt as stable and handy as the builtin MS stack.
is there a way to disable that "keep screen alive" of the MS BT stack in the registry or something?
or is there an upgrade or fix to this?
thanks in advance,
mic
EDIT: okay i found it myself, sorry for bugging. it actually is possible, if anyone else wonders how, this is what you have to change:
Goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Bluetooth\SerialPort and set OBWakeUpByInData to 0 for Outbound Connection (like Bluetooth GPS) and IBWakeUpByData for incoming connections (whatever else)

[Q] Bluetooth Priority or Connection Confirmation?

I have several Bluetooth devices saved in my phone and have run into a problem recently. I'm using a Logitech Bluetooth receiver for my main audio system which is always on. When I arrive home my Bluetooth automatically switches from my car to my house and starts transmitting audio to my stereo speakers. You can see the problem with this.
My question is whether there is a way to set the Bluetooth to prompt when connecting or to not automatically connect? Alternatively, to set a priority so my car is first priority over my house?
I don't see any settings for this and was hoping maybe someone knows a workaround. I've used android for years and this is the first time I've run into this problem.
Unpair until you want to use it?
Use the settings to not use as audio until you want to?

Already tried not using as audio but it automatically reconnects and selects audio on it's own each time I deselect it . Unpairing kind of defeats the purpose. There has to be a solution to such an obvious problem. Today I was trying to use a portable Bluetooth speaker in another room and the Logitech keeps taking over.
As a workaround, how about using Trigger and make task like: When bluetooth connected to *Home BT Device* --> Media Stop
Or you can tweak it if there is some delay after connecting to start playing like: When bluetooth connected to *Home BT Device* --> Media Volume:0 --> Pause 5 seconds --> Media Stop -->
This should work....

Bluetooth to car stereo, no auto connect

I had the Note 3 and it interfaced very well with my 2013 Subaru Impreza stereo. The Note 4, however, will initially connect but after turning the stereo off, then back on, it will not auto reconnect. The same behavior happens when the car is turned off and on.
I must tap the stereo in the BT app to get it to reconnect and sometimes I have to turn on the phone "visibility" to get the connection to happen.
So, that means no BT phone unless I'm already listening to a BT source.
I think it is related to the newer BT stack and its low power modes.
Anyone else seen this BT behavior?
Yes, I am seeing similar behavior. My Bluetooth tends to disconnect at times, seemingly at random as well.
Also very frustrating is the fact that I can not just enter my car and have the Bluetooth auto connect. I have to open the bluetooth page and select my car from the list of devices manually. This seems primative. If there is a way to change this can someone please post it?
I've started using Tasker and it has saved my bacon. Works like a charm. I've even used it to automate turning on Slacker when I get in the car.... So, a work around...
I have no problem whatsoever while connecting to my Dodge Charger 2014 ..every time i get in the car the Note 4 auto connects... i have the viisbility timeout set to Never..
