I have a new Samsung Galaxy S8 that reboots randomly during the day. The screen will freeze and the phone restarts with no warning. I have heard that it has something to do with the SD card installed, but I have removed my SD card and it continues to reboot. I have also deleted all old apps that are not specifically compatible with Nougat 7.0 thinking about the OS having backward compatibility issues, but the problem persists. Samsung hasn't officially recognized the problem. I had AT&T replace my first S8, but the new replacement reboots more often than the old one. My wife's S8 (bought at the same time) does not have the problem.
UPDATE:
I had AT&T replace my second S8 with S8 number 3. It did not have the rebooting issue until I loaded the first OTA update. Then it started happening again. Following up on the SD card problems that were mentioned, I transferred all of my data from an 8 GB micro SD to a new 32 GB micro SD. The problem seemed to slow down, but it was definitely still there. I booted into Safe Mode and the problem stopped - obviously, the problem was being created by a third party app. Apparently, I missed deleting something in my previous test. I had two different Clock & Weather Apps installed on different pages of my home screen (each set for different locations). I found that one of those Apps that was advertised as a 2017 App was not compatible with 7.0 Nougat. I uninstalled both Apps - that solved the problem. I have since found and installed a Clock & Weather App that was upgraded on May 27, 2017. Everything has been working great since then.

This is not a new issue and has been, recently, reported on all over the place.
Here's a handful of those reports:

The Samsung Galaxy S8 has a random reboot problem and nobody knows why

Not exactly bootlooping, but random Galaxy S8 reboots should not be a thing
You should be placing this attention to Samsung Support since this, apparently, seems to be a Samsung design flaw.
I wish you the best of luck!

Mine randomly rebooted once when I first got it. I want to say I did something specifically with an app that I normally don't use if i remember right. Needless to say I used it again after that and it has not happened since.
In case it helps. I had the same issue with my s8+. Did a factory restart and it would still restart itself. Mainly when trying to unlock it. So i let it be since i was gone for work. And after about 2 days or so it completely stopped doing that. Its been like 3 weeks and not a single reboot. So maybe it just has to properly install everything or something. I know it shouldnt have done that but it was a new phone with new software so maybe just some glitches somewhere

Also incase it is the sd card. Idk if it is but when i restarted it i erased the android and lost.dir folders on my sd card to make sure it didnt have anything on it from my previous phone.
Hi guys,
I had a lot of random reboot yesterday and then I have enabled the option to "forcer l'autorisation d'application sur le stockage externe" (something to give the ability to save apps in the SD card) in the developper options. And since that, I have no more reboot. So just try and let us know if it's working for you too.

Hello guys.
So my Note 4 started freezing before 1 week, the phone was so great without any issues, suddenly the phone started freezing SO BAD and sometimes restarting, so I decided to do a factory reset, I did it twice and I also wiped cache but the phone is still freezing! The phone has stock android and never rooted it.
Any one else is facing this issues also? Help
I have this problem too, random freezes at random time since 1 week. Tried almost every ROM and even tried the stock firmware again, same problems. Please someone help us ;~;!
I have the same issue when typing, I'm using the google keyboard and when ever I'm typing a message it always catches up. It freezes mid typing and you see the line blinking like its wait for you to type and a couple seconds later is catches up.
I had similar issues, turned out to be a problem with SD card, plug it into your pc and do the SD card check for error.
Exynos or Snapdragon model?
I have Exynos, same issue, N910C

I had this same problem with both note 3 and note 4. Turned out it was the micro sd card i used the same card on both devices. It was a fake samsung card nought from amazon.
I've also got something similar. 910F. Lagging regularly, sometimes so bad the phone restarts itself. Today has been the worst of all, about 5 reboots during the day and frequent lag when it is working.
So far tried changing batteries, removing SD card, uninstalling most recent apps and those which tend to generate notifications, a wipe (without restoring apps/data for everything).
Running out of options now, just tried turning off finger print scanner and svoice to see if that helps at all.
Feels like it must be an app (google?) that updated recently and is causing issues, I definitely get more lag when using google applications (play, chrome etc).
Hi everyone. I am from India. After the recent BPH7 update i am having lots of issues with the new gallery.
It just freezes at least 4 to 5 times a day. I have to restart my phone to solve it. Infact today its freezed wveytime i tried to open it.
I had clicked some lovely pics 3 days ago. However when i tried to see them on my gallery, I just couldnt see the clarity after zooming in. They all are blurred. Earlier they werent.
Any solutions? Hard reset seems the only solution .
Any response? The gallery invariably freezes everytime i open it.
I had that issue but a quick reboot fixed it for me.
I'm on complete stock with the EU Exynos version if that's relevant.
Suggestion: try taking your memory card out and see if you can see any photos stored on your internal storage; this would help you eliminate the possibility of it being a slow/faulty memory card however unlikely that is.
However, if you have the same issue, I'd recommend a hard reset as that usually does the trick.
Try connecting it to Samsung Smart Switch or whatever their PC companion program is called now, back everything up of course.
Good luck buddy!
Hi guys.
I'm here to share a problem I'm having with my Nexus 6P: it often gives a crash randomly, needing to be restarted by force.
This does not happen because of a specific app and sometimes happens even at boot , when Google logo still not appeared.
I already using the phone about two weeks.
I received him with rom stock 6.0.1 and had the upgrade to Nougat available.
I thought the upgrade to 7.0 would correct the problem, but it was not what happened.
From the update I also felt that the crashes were more frequent when the battery was at a very low level, between 20 and 15% (as commented in a reddit threat that I can't copy here).
Following some recommendations that I found , I formatted the Nexus 6P with the factory settings to see if the problem returned.
Yes, it happened again.
I formated again and was gradually installing my apps to check if it was not a specific app.
I did it at last three times.
On these occasions, apps like Google Keep, Duolingo, ES File Explorer, Google Fit, Podcast Republic and even the Play Store gave the crash.
I formatted again and installed each app one by one again to try to identify a culprit and had the same results.
To try to work around the problem, I decided to go for a clean install of the entire OS with the latest build using the SDK (adb and fastboot).
Even with the flash of the latest build I continued to have this crash problem.
So I decided to go for custom roms.
I installed Pure Nexus and Sinless, and continued having problems with crash.
I tried to install the CyanogenMod, but failed. After flashing the rom, GAPPS and vendor image, the device crash in the Google logo.
My last attempt was to go deeper and replace the kernel as well.
I installed ElementalX (7.0) and Pure Nexus as ROM.
In the beginning, I still had many crashes, so decided to make some changes in the kernel ElementalX.
In a desperate attempt, I decreased the CPU clock all to minimum (1248 MHz).
Interestingly the crashes started to occour less frequently, but they still happen randomly and unexpectedly.
I have no idea if this reduction in CPU speed had any effect or was placebo.
What matters is that I'm still having crashes and I wonder if anyone has any idea of this solution to my problem.
Thank you guys!
PS.: the return of the phone is not an option. I'm in Brazil.
PS2.: sorry for my bad english.
Wow you have exhausted every idea... Return sounds like all that's left unless you wanna try putting the phone in the oven to see if it's just bad solder.

I'm thinking you've got some damaged or corrupted internal storage there.

Hey guys,
I don't have this phone, but asking for a coworker. His s8 suddenly just started becoming very slow and unresponsive this morning. He said the only thing he did was try to change his wallpaper and a Samsung wallpaper (or something similar, don't have the actual name of the app but it seems to be baked in by Samsung) app showed up in his app drawer. Just wondering if anyone else experienced something like this and had a solution other than wiping it.
Some more info, he just got an update but hasn't installed it yet. Not sure if this is getting Oreo already or if it's just the September security patch. I checked battery stats and it doesn't seem like there is a rogue app causing it to slow down, but I couldn't find ram usage for the life of me on the phone since I'm not familiar with Samsung's skin. Also tried restarting and letting it fully power off, waiting a few mins and then booting back up.
My guess it's samsung being samsung (the reason I don't buy them anymore but for all I know they don't break after an extended period of time anymore), but I've never seen a phone deteriorate that fast.
Any help is appreciated.
Edit: it's not rooted and the Verizon variant if that makes a difference
Hey,
So the thing when the phone had stock rom and everything it worked perfectly until one moment when the device decided to present messages such as:
(the name of the app/service) stopped working. It was like this for a long time so I decided to change rom. SO basically I tried to put every single rom out there, none of them worked except resurrection one that eventually had problems too.
The phone was never dropped or something like that, and when the problem appeared I took the phone to the lab and that said they "fixed" it, they didn't.
So my question is, what is the possible problem for this annoying shutting down, deleting apps on its own and only one possible working rom?
Feel free to help
Do any apps utilise data from the micro SD card?
If that fails or failing can cause issues that your experiencing
Just a thought
