You have to be rooted!

Yeah I know that. It is rooted b587kvip v2

@c|nder
Bootanimation location is /product/etc/média/
---------- Post added at 12:48 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:41 PM ----------
I tested 5 min ago, it works!

Method to change bootanimation on Huawei Mate 8:
Be rooted (of course)
Goes to /product/etc/média/ with an explorer like Solid Explorer (with root permissions)
Rename bootanimation.zip as bootanimation.zip.bak
Find a bootanimation with a good size to replace your phone bootanimation (ex: the one in link below - in the video)
Be sure that file is named "bootanimation.zip" without quote
Place this file into /product/etc/média/
Give it the permissions like in the screenshot below
Reboot to try
Result in video:

The file is already in that directory but for some reason on the dl0017 the splash screen is different and no sound but the proper files have always been in place there. Dl00 must have a different script directory because it also has a different splash screen I love the mate 8 but hate the dl017 splash and boot screen compared to all other mate 8 models.

If the file is in this location, you have to rename it in ".bak" and you have to replace by another, like the file below. The sound file is in the /system/media folder for me.
Did you look into?
/system/media
/system/etc/media - no file for me but Android has the files here normally.
Rename the file below as bootanimation.zip and replace other in /product/etc/media by this one.

This works for all phones BUT not the DL0017 for some reason . only way it worked was to rebrand to another model and flash a new rom , its weird I do have the stock files that are required in the same spot. Even there is no sound but the file is in place. I really hate the splash screen for dl0017.

I want to stay with dl0017 because its easier to update and have less issues with the al10 cust example the sim lock ..

So if I understood, you say the file inside is the same than the one I uploaded into the post above?! You opened it to see, I imagine!
I've a DL00 model but with NXT-L29C432 firmware, for me all works fine!:good:

Hello , yeah its very weird , there must be a dl0017 script in the boot that finds it. I managed to change the boot screen to the water background of emui 5 but the first flash screen is still unicom but I can live with that , thanks dude for your help , what made u change dll0017 to euro cust. I live in canada and cannot get any gps signal with any rom sofar. I see a international version in the threads , any word on that ?

You talk about of the B320 international rooted, right?
If yes, when I looked inside, I saw this rom differents bootanimations following the model that you have. It's why (and others reasons) I said myself that the one I made can't be an international version.

MIUI Bootanimation and bootaudio

Hello, does anyone know where to find MIUI Multilingual's bootanimation and bootaudio, and the .xml file so i can edit them?
In system/media there is bootanimation.zip and bootaudio.mp3. If you want to edit the bootanimation look at desc.txt.
Thank you, however it seems that my phone still uses the IDEOS logo as bootanimation, and that one is located in "pink-screen" mode, is it okay to delete it?
You mean the splashscreen? I believe that is located in the kernel, and not easy to edit.

Well, when i boot, it doesn't use the MIUI bootanimation, it still uses stock Ideos animation, and i think that one is located in pinkscreen-mode.
Try placing the bootanimation.zip in /data/local on your phone with root explorer. Then reboot, it should work

Hmm, it didn't work, and i even tried replacing the bootanimation.zip in cust/Dialect/SE/media (which is where i go when i go into pinkscreen-mode) with the MIUI one, still nothing.
Sorry, I see no reason why it won't work.. You can try to delete the whole cust folder (in pink screen), it that don't work preform a full wipe.
What ROM version are you talking about? If latest, then you should pay more attention to rom changelog. retart said there, that he turned off bootanimation for faster boot.
Sent from my "Desire HD" using XDA App
be careful messing with these files

Thank you!
I found the debug.hw.bootanimation set to 1, changed it to 0, and BAM!
Bootanimation+ audio.
My only concern now is the splashscreen and that the bootaudio is loud/bad quality

[Q] How to change the Bootscreen/Motorola Logo on startup?

I know that the Bootscreen is stored on /dev/block/mmcblk1p10
I also made an cool Bootscreen inspired by the actual Motorola Bootscreens but I dont know the exact steps to get it on the phone
On the cm7 zip there was a custom '' logo.img '' I think that was the bootscreen(?)
For the Milestone1 I found a tutourial but this method doens't seem to work on the Milestone2
( http://modmymobile.com/forums/555-m...s/559148-tool-milestone-custom-boot-logo.html )
And please give me some feedback for my bootscreen

Well this is an interesting topic. While having a look at it i found out that for everyone who wishes to change the animated bootlogo from the cyanogen logo to a different one the file is called bootanimation.zip and its located at /system/media/bootanimation.zip
Some awesome bootanimations can be found at droidboots under downloads/boot-animations/
Edit:
Okay after a little bit more investigation about your case it seems i found the way to edit the bootlogo gonna try it first and then tell if it works.
So this is how i did it.
First i downloaded MilestoneBootLogo.zip from this Post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16836960&postcount=1
I used one of the Logos given in that post but you can use any logo with the size of 480x182 px.
If you have a custom image it has to be in 24 bit BMP format. Open it with the MilestoneBootLogo Program and save it as bin File.
Now put the bin file on you sdcard.
After that install Splash Tools and AndExplorer via the Play Store.
Open Splash Tools and browse for the Bootlogo on your sdcard. Press ok then Apply et voila your ready to Reboot and the Bootlogo should be replaced.
Hey, I meant the Motorola Bootsplashscreen not the Bootanimation

Where are the bootanimations hiding?

Just wondering if anyone knew where the bootanimation and downanimation files are so I can change them. I'm on the 3 network in the Uk and they put their own on, but they're crap so I want the standard Samsung ones. I used to have them on XXUAMDN which seems to have been unbranded, but now I've put XXUAME2 on it instead and it appears to be branded again. Any idea how to change them without finding an unbranded version?
They're in System/Media. They're .qmg files
Sent from my GT-I9505 using XDA Premium HD app
So does that mean I can literally just replace my .qmg files with ones from the unbranded rom?
Just copied them out of my old rom and it worked for the bootanimation, but the shutdown one is still the 3 one instead of the Samsung one, even though I copied shutdown.qmg?
So does anyone know which other file the shutdown animation is?

Found it, it's in system/media/video/shutdown. So I just replaced the shutdown.qmg in that folder with the other one and it's done.
Dumb question, but I'm assuming you have root access to do this? Are there sites that share boot up logos? I like the new Verizon boot logo for the s3 (it doesn't actually say s3 on it - just cool colors cycling around.)
Yeah, you need root access. Not sure if there's anywhere to download custom ones, though I'd assume there will be if you Google. There'll probably be a way of making your own too, the s4 isn't the only phone to use the .qmg format.

Registry edit to change logo to "Samsung"
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Shell\BootScreens]
"WPBootScreenOverride"= "\Windows\System32\mologo_OPEN_Common.bmp" (String)
I did change path and now got both of them, Samsung one and custom because file : mologPEN_Common.bmp is not even displayed. Must be in other location.
Code:
C:\Data\Users\Public\Bootlogo\logo.bmp
Yeah, it'll be different depending on where the phone comes from. Just check your System32 directory first for logo images, then set the one you want. Or upload your own to the phone and use that path...
I looked on all mologo bmp files and none of them looks like the one while booting. So now I got WP, Samsung and the custom one on the end. Is wasting time I believe

the first boot logo is Most likely stored in the bootloader it self ( so no way too Change that one)
Once you have complete file system access, just place one in Windows\System32 and name it "mologo_custom.bmp" for easier reference and save it as a 24bit BMP file. I have the original bootscreen and 2 custom ones for you to choose from, attached below:

No idea about the app you name as I've never used ROM tool box lite. But there are a lot of other Google Play apps that will change your boot animation. Or it's easy to do with a root file browser.
These are the boot animation and shutdown animation files. You can find new ones on XDA or with a Google search. Confirm that the new files have 0644 permissions after you move them to your S5 directory.
/system/media/bootsamsung.qmg
/system/media/bootsamsungloop.qmg
/system/media/audio/ui/poweron.ogg
/system/media/shutdown.qmg
/system/media/audio/ui/shutdown.ogg
.

If you mean bootanimation.zip, that format is not used on the S5 unless you've modified the relevant system files to recognize it.

You can read the descriptions of the Play store apps and see if any of them say that they will work with Samsung qmg animations. The bootanimation apps that I have seen only support the bootanimation.zip format which is used on other phone models.
Some of the boot animations can modify your phone's kernel to use bootanimation.zip rather than Samsung qmg files, but a custom kernel will trip your Knox flag if that matters to you. That's mainly a concern in the US where Samsung will invalidate warranties because you modified your kernel. A lot of carriers don't care about Knox and ostensibly Samsung can't deny a warranty in the EU. But if your phone is in warranty, you should look into that issue first.
There are many apps. This one looks like it should work, including changing your kernel for you. I have not used the app personally, I just read the app description.

If your running MOAR grab root explorer and navigate to system/media and replace the bootanimation.zip
Whatever you replace it with rename it to bootanimation.zip, set permissions and reboot

The above post suggests that you are using a custom ROM. You didn't make that point clear, I've never heard of "moar" and you didn't mention that it was a custom ROM. A stock S5 does not use bootanimation.zip, but according to the post above, your ROM has already been modified to use bootanimation.zip files. So you can try that.
It also means that you aren't posting in the ideal forum. You'd be better served posting in your custom ROM support thread or even the Verizon S5 forum.
