[Q] How to change the Bootscreen/Motorola Logo on startup? - Milestone 2 General

I know that the Bootscreen is stored on /dev/block/mmcblk1p10
I also made an cool Bootscreen inspired by the actual Motorola Bootscreens but I dont know the exact steps to get it on the phone
On the cm7 zip there was a custom '' logo.img '' I think that was the bootscreen(?)
For the Milestone1 I found a tutourial but this method doens't seem to work on the Milestone2
( http://modmymobile.com/forums/555-m...s/559148-tool-milestone-custom-boot-logo.html )
And please give me some feedback for my bootscreen

Well this is an interesting topic. While having a look at it i found out that for everyone who wishes to change the animated bootlogo from the cyanogen logo to a different one the file is called bootanimation.zip and its located at /system/media/bootanimation.zip
Some awesome bootanimations can be found at droidboots under downloads/boot-animations/
Edit:
Okay after a little bit more investigation about your case it seems i found the way to edit the bootlogo gonna try it first and then tell if it works.
So this is how i did it.
First i downloaded MilestoneBootLogo.zip from this Post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16836960&postcount=1
I used one of the Logos given in that post but you can use any logo with the size of 480x182 px.
If you have a custom image it has to be in 24 bit BMP format. Open it with the MilestoneBootLogo Program and save it as bin File.
Now put the bin file on you sdcard.
After that install Splash Tools and AndExplorer via the Play Store.
Open Splash Tools and browse for the Bootlogo on your sdcard. Press ok then Apply et voila your ready to Reboot and the Bootlogo should be replaced.

Hey, I meant the Motorola Bootsplashscreen not the Bootanimation

[Q] Splash screens & bootanimation questions

Hello all,
I searched the forum, but found nothing related to the 2 questions I have, so it has already been asked and/or answered, please be indulgent
I have a 512 EU HTC HD2 with the latest BOYPPC-SHIFTPDA NAND ROM (but my question should apply to any release ), and when I boot the phone, I can see:
1. The first Splash screen,
2. MAGLDR,
3. Another splash screen,
4. The bootanimation.
I succeeded in replacing the first splash screen using the NBToolFixed tool and then I understood that the 2nd Splash screen is replaced by MAGLDR on the HD2.
However I found nothing about replacing that 3rd (??) screen that appears after MAGLDR and I can't find a way to replace it.
My second question is quite simple: I'd like to create a non animated bootanimation from a single image... I followed the instructions found there, but the phone don't like it as it only displays a black screen.
Has anyone already succeeded in doing this?
Many thanks !
Edit: found what was my problem with my custom bootanimation, I was zipping the directory containing the folders part0 & part1
Now it's working like a charm !
But I still can't figure out how to change to "3rd" splash screen...

There was a small program to make flashable nbh files on here somewhere. It was quite easy to use from the command line of windows.

Ok so after some more research, I figured out that this additional "splash screen" (the one appearing after MAGLDR) is the bootup screen of the ROM.
I think I know the answer, but is there any way to modify this bootup screen ?
The only way you can change that splashscreen/bootanim is if you know how to edit the intrid.gz found in the ROM. Don't know exactly how to do it step by step but I know that's how you have to do it.

That's a first step
Anyone knows how to do that ?
Ok so in the last post of this thread (Link) someone is giving the commands to modify the initrd.gz file...
But where can I find the initrd.gz? I tried to search with a root explorer on my computer but found nothing
I found a really interesting thread this morning: Link. It not only explains that the BootUp logo is in fact the logo.rle / initlogo.rle file located in the initrd.gz, but also how to create a knew one
I have generated the file and created a custom zipped ROM, I will try to install it this evening
However I didn't figured out where I can find the initrd.gz file in a classical ROM, but with a CWM one, it is easy to locate

[BOOT ANIMATION] CyanogenMod 9

Hi guys I extracted the CyanogenMod boot animation from the ROM itself, and my oh my it looks wonderful! I attached it below. To install, simply after downloading it and placing it in a comfortable location, copy it, go to system>media, and paste it there It should overwrite your current boot animation and replace it but if it does not, simply just paste the CM9 boot animation there and delete the old one I tested it only on my Samsung Galaxy S2. Works perfect. Enjoy! And remember this is made by the CM9 team not me, so give them the credit. I'm only sharing their awesome boot animation to the community and not stealing their work
Edit: OH YES I recommend that you guys use Root Explorer to copy and paste the boot animation! Cause that what I used But if you have any other alternatives that you think might be better or you are more comfortable with, please share it or use it at your own risk
you might wanna see what ive done see in my signiture at the buttom click > bootanimation< ull gonna like it 100% sure

I changed the boot animation of my Galaxy S i9000 using the app "Boot Animations * root" from the Play Store.
I took a very cool one but its getting really nasty after a while and I want to rechange it to the default animation but don't know how . Already tried what you wrote: place the .zip in the media folder and I deinstalled the app because I didn't know where to find the boot animations. Then I restardet my phone but it still didn't change the boot animation.

Try looking in /data/local
If there's a bootanimation.zip in there it'll override the one in /system/media (which is kinda useful for keeping animations across upgrades when no data wipe is involved.)

[Q] Enable boot animation

Hey great devs please tell me how to enable bootanination.zip support in stock rom show that i can use custom bootanimations zip files As you know that in stock rom boot animation is in qmg format so to install a custom boot animation we need samsung theme designer to convert them to qmg but this process takes a hell lot of time and makes the bootanimation slow . After doing a lot of google search i found of to enable this feature we have to modify two files bootanimation ans samsungani found in bin folder in system folder so i download those modified file zip but it didnt work i also took those files from other custom rom like nemesis, etc but it didnt work .There are many roms whats allows use of bootanimation zip so please any one tell me how did you enable that feature i want that in stock rom .
Search before posting as it's been posted by at least me a few times but I'll let you off this time

Registry edit to change logo to "Samsung"
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Shell\BootScreens]
"WPBootScreenOverride"= "\Windows\System32\mologo_OPEN_Common.bmp" (String)
I did change path and now got both of them, Samsung one and custom because file : mologPEN_Common.bmp is not even displayed. Must be in other location.
Code:
C:\Data\Users\Public\Bootlogo\logo.bmp
Yeah, it'll be different depending on where the phone comes from. Just check your System32 directory first for logo images, then set the one you want. Or upload your own to the phone and use that path...
I looked on all mologo bmp files and none of them looks like the one while booting. So now I got WP, Samsung and the custom one on the end. Is wasting time I believe

the first boot logo is Most likely stored in the bootloader it self ( so no way too Change that one)
Once you have complete file system access, just place one in Windows\System32 and name it "mologo_custom.bmp" for easier reference and save it as a 24bit BMP file. I have the original bootscreen and 2 custom ones for you to choose from, attached below:

Samsung changed the boot animation format.
The boot animation is no longer in zip file format.
They are now QMG files and have been QMG files for almost two years.
...
QMG files are very difficult to work with.
Good luck.. Have a great day.
