What about a fake unicorn?
I'd expect to see first AOSP/RR/LineageOS ROM in 8 months (or more) time, and it still won't be fully functional

won't happen. never. just look at samsung s6 and 7 as example. Plus CM (lineageOS) is pretty much dead :/

What are you saying? Lineage os is available for s7/s7 edge.
Look down in the ROMs section. Any real ROMs will be here on XDA. IF they aren't here, they're not real or filled with malware.

fully functional? if there is then you have my apology, as i look around in s7/edge section, most ROMs are only available for the exynos devices. And for the s8 that used snapdragon, their bootloader is locked ( if i'm not mistaken). You can get a exnoys s8 and wish for the best, plus the iris or fingers scanner might not even work.

I wouldn't call fully functionnal a rom that decreases that much the quality of the pictures taken with the device. Especially given the initial photo quality the device is capable of providing.
Speaking knowingly as I actually tested it before getting back to the Superman rom.

Mate, over-sharpening and over-saturating all of your pictures is not "quality" - it actually looks extremely amateur.
You should be thankful it's gone, because it looks god-awful and there's no way to turn it off (which is sad because pro mode is a joke without it).
If you want the Samsung-esk "quality" color-barf - take a raw shot with Manual Camera, bring it into Lightroom, then drag sharpness and saturation to 100.
That's suxxx... I'm thinking to move from s7 to s8/s8+ and was hoping AOSP is here. But that's not the case unfortunately
Where you guys have been? Loooool LineageOS fully booted on s8+ weeks ago and being hard worked by fevax. S8 it's same hardware so...

Exactly. it's a bull that they are withholding the update for the note4 until after the s6 is released. wanna know why? So you buy the s6 cause it has lolli already, it's ridiculous the way carriers dictate the duration of the update process. They get the rom from Samsung, then they do their bloat thing, test it in crappy small markets, then release they've been sitting on it for over a month now just waiting for the s6 to drop. They've had so many people call and complain that they started a Web page.. lol that's pretty bad.. Don't blame Samsung for lack of the update, blame your favorite carrier. it them. That's why the g3 got it, the s5, the note3 is in testing in diff markets.. Why would one do that? because they want you to buy the latest greatest hit. Not because the s5 is of more importance due to the numbers sold.. so in conclusion, time for a new s6. Lol
Just noticed that the note 4 is now at tmoble testing phase... my guess is we're 2 weeks behind it.
dont know what is the freaking hold up !
i heard ATT note edge got the lick candy today !
I see that tmobile is testing the lollipop on the note 4, I think after they roll out the upate for the note 4 they would start foucusing on the note edge.
The excuse i got was: Since N4 and Edge are the only 2 phones compatable with Samsung VR1 they were waiting on the manufacturer of the vr to finish so they can begin coding in the VR part to LP. They didnt want to telease LP without the VR stuff teady to go. Aftet seeing all the complaints about battery drain and so on with 5.0 on the N4s that received it, i cant wait to see what happens when you hook up VR to your N4/Edge with 5.0...probably a nice little explosion...lol
Lollipop getting closer! Now at T-Mobile testing phase!

Ha! You have to look in the right places I guess. Problem for me is that I've got things running so sweetly with hyperdrive, foerverlocos theme and some xposed modules I'm a bit reluctant to take the plunge for now. I checked out lollipop on my Note 3 and having ART is a nice improvement but I missed Xposed and even more so, Tweaked! Indeed I put Tweaked back on. Looking forward to hear about folks experience with Lollipop on T-mobile Edge.

Lol. That had me laughing thanks.
But to respond to the op, tomorrow should be the announcement of the note 5 and the next edge device(which should be the s6 edge plus) that doesn't necessarily mean release. Prob start taking pre orders though. Im picking up another note edge tomorrow to replace the hole in my heart so i am gunna take a good look at both of them and will prob be ditching my s6 for one or the other. Guessing the note 5 since i should have a note edge already. Unless the s6 plus blows me away which i dont see happening.

I hope the n5 will have an ir blaster, rumours say it hasn't

The Samsung teaser said it is a Galaxy Event, not Note Event though Note5 will also announce together you clearly see Note5 with SPen in the picture. The big question is an unknown third device there with 6.5~7" size, I'll call it as S6 Ultra(much like the Sony Z1 Ultra 6.44").
I owned Z Ultra from Sony. It was the best device ( first in the world with sd800) except Note series at the moment. The only negative was his camera and the lack of led light. Otherwise awesome. Maybe it's Samsung time now...

We are yet to draw more detailed conclusions about the Galaxy Note5’s camera performance, but the initial impressions are for a snappy camera that captures great images. We also noticed that the double-click quick activation shortcut is present here as well, and Samsung has added the option to control shutter speed in the Pro camera mode.
But still a good news there, I think we'll have manual shutter speed in Pro mode soon.

It will definitely be better for ROM development, being snapdragon has a lot more development than exynos cpu's in all phones. But then again it's a tablet so there will be limited to no development.
Assuming they don't lock the bootloader (as they did all the US s7 Snapdragons).
But yeah, they found that a mid-range 2016 processor might be easier/cheaper to produce than the 5433.
Hopefully this means 64bit Android 6.0 for the Tab S2 exynos...

I agree on the possibility, that this might mean no 6.0 for the exynos, but in any way we can't change that. I think it has a lot to do with the fact, that samsung really isn't making that much with their tablets in comparison to what they expected. Launching an overhauled, easier to develop tablet might be their way to make some buzz, but not invest that much in new development. I don't think that this means anything for the exynos variant concerning Rom development, since they are wholey other SoCs. Also smartphone sales were not as great as expected with the s6 and with China as new challenger in the market, samsung probably has to watch their expenses.

Overall it is a very positive on the reviews.. very similar to the existing and initial OnePlus 3 reviews save for the increase in costs.
Thanks for posting. It seems like the general consensus is that if you were looking at the 1+3, the 1+3t is worth the extra $40, but not worth upgrading if you already have a 3.
Great phone...all the reviews are very positive ..i was between mate 9 or OP3T..
but it was not so difficult to make a choice..
OP3T wins very easy to replase my old LG G3.

i noticed all the reviews are pretty general and stating specs... no mention of the EIS, battery, benchmark comparisons. side by side comparisons of images and video.
they dont really go into detail. of course the phone will be fast, switching between apps and gaming.
dont get me wrong, i like the phone
Even though I watched these reviews and the phone checks everything I need, I still am hesitant to buy it; the reviews are for people who just use Android, not tinker with Android. My biggest concern is with the dev community. I come from an OPO and I don't think I'll be able to stomach a phone with little community support. If only this phone were never released; then my choice would be obvious in getting an OP3. Only time will tell how this subforum grows or withers. I'm hopeful but not optimistic.

This is what I don't understand why people keep bring up the point about dev support. I mean it's not like every dev on earth just declared war on OP3T. Seriously how many custom ROMs do you need? The way I look at it, even just a few good one and pick one among them that suit you best is enough. Even for phone w/ locked bootloader are still some mod ROMs crop up here and there, and it's not like the OP3T will have a lock bootloader. Unless I get something wrong, just because some current OP3 dev say they don't plan to support OP3T, does that mean there won't be other? Or the OP3 one will never move to OP3T? I'm not a dev, but if I own OP3 right now I wouldn't plan on getting OP3T. But if the OP3 would break next week then I would be seriously thinking on the new OP3T rather than buying a used OP3 somewhere else. Aside from that, maybe there are some dev that was planing to do some work on the Note 7 would come over.

i noticed all the reviews are pretty general and stating specs... no mention of the EIS, battery, benchmark comparisons. side by side comparisons of images and video.
they dont really go into detail. of course the phone will be fast, switching between apps and gaming.
dont get me wrong, i like the phone

Interesting, considering that and what OP said about the update for OP3 and OP3T will be on the same cycle. Does this mean there will just be one ROM for both of them?

That's because the OP3T is on the newer version of OxygenOS that is currently available with the community builds and the F2FS filesystem system is utilized by default instead of EXT4.

The Snapdragon 821 is for the most part not much different than the Snapdragon 820 apart from the higher factory clock speed. Also that won't significantly impact the speed of opening applications. The OP3 also has similar improvements in app loading speeds when using F2FS on the newer community builds, and both devices will be on essentially the same builds going into the future.
Just got my OP3T less than twelve hours ago
Found a speedtest review in another language but you get the idea. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=eBX7ZB1sAeA
