Samsung Launches 2016 Tab S2 with Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 - Galaxy Tab S2 General

And is otherwise more or less the same as the 2015 version.
http://www.phonearena.com/news/Samsung-refreshes-the-Galaxy-Tab-S2-8.0-and-Galaxy-Tab-S2-9.7_id80150
Some people say this is more of a "downgrade" in terms of GPU power.

Strange. This is almost nothing upgraded. For me, main thing is it replacing tab s3, or we will see it in july, august?

just came here to post this, hopefully this means android 6 will come out soon for our s2's

Before people get their hands on this.
I bet this is gonna overheat.

I dont see sense of this "upgrade"

It comes with 6.0.1 though. I guess it's samsungs way of saying FU to the people who have been waiting for an update for their exynos S2.

Cost reduced for Europe

I've been reading that they are likely not to launch the tab s3 this year now. Truthfully, aim fine with that. I love the bleeding edge but damn, it's hard to keep up anymore.
I did snag a Tab Pro S with Windows 10 and that's actually pretty amazing...
Sent from my SM-N920W8 using XDA Premium HD app

It will definitely be better for ROM development, being snapdragon has a lot more development than exynos cpu's in all phones. But then again it's a tablet so there will be limited to no development.

Assuming they don't lock the bootloader (as they did all the US s7 Snapdragons).
But yeah, they found that a mid-range 2016 processor might be easier/cheaper to produce than the 5433.
Hopefully this means 64bit Android 6.0 for the Tab S2 exynos...

I agree on the possibility, that this might mean no 6.0 for the exynos, but in any way we can't change that. I think it has a lot to do with the fact, that samsung really isn't making that much with their tablets in comparison to what they expected. Launching an overhauled, easier to develop tablet might be their way to make some buzz, but not invest that much in new development. I don't think that this means anything for the exynos variant concerning Rom development, since they are wholey other SoCs. Also smartphone sales were not as great as expected with the s6 and with China as new challenger in the market, samsung probably has to watch their expenses.

I have the 713 and my battery life is awesome... I have a 2014 Note 10.1 and Note Pro 12.2 Note 4 and Note 5... I have the tablet 2013 Nexus 7 and a few other devices laying around the house but this gets the best battery life out of all of them. I am rooted with Xposed running greenify I know that helps. But I've been on my tablet for 7 hours now and I'm still at 87%... and this is being inactive watching videos playing music I played a couple games... reading XDA! Lol

We all use them in different ways and this has a huge effect on aspects such as battery life.
It's almost like comparing how long a tank of fuel lasts in a car.
It all depends on many factors.

Guys, afaik this isnt the galaxy s3, I think its the samsung galaxy m. I dont think samsung would bring out a updated galaxy s2 with 2 additional cores and a higher resolution display and name it galaxy s 3.
Nope guys, Mali 400 is nowadays not really modern. If this would be the galaxy s 3 I wouldnt buy this But its the galaxy M and its ok But I'm waiting for galaxy s3, so hopefully there will be some nice specs.
it was sgs3 ... in 16th December 2011

In my opinion, it's definitly the Galaxy M.
I'm pretty sure that the new Galaxy S III is the GT-I9500.
Whatever it is, its ugly as hell.
Sure hope this really isn't the s3.
Hoping for something kind of like the gnexus with all the bells and whistles the gn is missing (more mpx, sd card, removable battery, none pentile samoled, etc)
Anyway, i was happier to see the blaze coming out. Proper updated phone within the 4'' range instead this latest trend of huge slabs of plastic, even if it isn't winning any beauty contest...

Lots and lots of fake leaks been around s3 a long time now.. i think i just wait for official release notes and when its released i read what it got and probably buy it
I mean the thing is that new phones got quite a lot of power to do anything but the real question is how is battery life and how big screen you like.

I think that I do the same things as you do: calling, playing games :silly:
I experience the lockscreen as not smooth.
Well, it seems to affect users very randomly. There are quite a few on the forum having the "dropping wifi speed" issue, while others seem to have no wifi issues at all. And I believe there's no particular model that's more affected than others (branded, unbranded, international, etc). I've noticed the phenomenon on other web forums as well, and people are generally pretty fed up with Sammy's inability to come up with a fully working fw. Myself, I had a bit different issue when 4.1.2 was first released. The phone was most often totally unable to hook up with any wifi. After Sammy's latest fw release, that particular issue was finally adressed. However, the issue with dropping wifi speeds after random uptime, was NOT! To this day, the fw I hold in highest regards, is the initial one (4.1.1). Now I'm hoping for the 4.2.2 to be the final salvation....
We will be getting 4.2.2 in June

I gave my s7 edge to the wife. My note 4 rooted is better battery and pimped to my liking. Too bad. That phone was gorgeous.
I used to root and flash a ton. For an experiment I tried using a stock ROM on my note 4. Found I didn't have anymore use for root and Roms and got used to it quick.
On the s7 I enjoy using Samsung pay since it uses a virtual card at the stores so when places like Target get hacked again, they won't have my real card number. And I can't use Samsung pay with root or Knox tripped.
Will get the note 7(6) when it comes out of it is water resistant and has a micro sd card slot.
Some people still enjoy flashing and rooting and that's cool. I just don't have the time anymore with work and raising a family.

Also evidently the Note 7 wont ship with Android N. just 6.0.1. These are all rumors or so called leaks but....hope it releases with flat screen option and Android N!
The Note series rarely, if ever launches with the most up to date Android. Since they launch almost in tandem, if not slightly before/after the official Android launch. Our 910T didn't get 5.0.1 until late April of the following year.

New tablet after a Nexus 7? Here is a worthy successor!

Lenovo Tab 4 Plus
http://www.gsmarena.com/lenovo_tab_4_8_plus-8603.php
It's slightly bigger than the Nexus 7, but not so much by comparison, as you can see here from a side by side:
https://photos.app.goo.gl/vYDGB1BfzbWjhO9t2
Better specs, clean Android, beautiful screen and very, very well made hardware, with the additional Plus of having an SD-card slot. By now I am on my 4th Nexus 7, which I mainly use use for eBook reading and some casual gaming, but the problems with the USB slot and the easily defective memory are a nuisance and I have been on the market for an alternative for more than 3 years. The Tab 4 for me is that alternative.
I've had it for a couple of days now and while it is not wildly popular (yet), there is already TWRP available AND root through Magisk.
Finally a decent tablet with USB-C, nice hardware, very good screen time (basically sames as the Nexus 7) and an up to date Android version without significant bloatware (Except for Microsoft Office, which you can uninstall easily, since it's not a system app).
I hope to see a thriving community around this tablet; it's worth it and will please those who have been happy with their Nexus 7, but are looking for a more modern piece of hardware as a successor.
Lucky me I am still on the first one from day one ?
Just have to charge wireless since 6 month. Bud there is no factory Image coming so as long as custums are coming I am good to go. But the Lenovo looks promising

I think 2gb is enough for games
AGREED!!!
When i first saw this, i thought, this is the only upgrade to my 4 year old nexus 7....but sadly lenovo did not launch the 4/64 version in India....i don't know what to buy now..iPad looks like the only choice
I'd suggest the Huawei T2 7.0 Pro. I have both it and the Nexus 7. The Huawei is lighter, smaller, better battery, slightly better CPU/GPU, Micro SD slot, fingerprint sensor.
Oh and it can take a micro sim and be used as a cell phone.
The only negatives:
Only works on 2.4ghz wifi
Android 5.01 only currently
No NFC
No wireless charging
Otherwise it is a worthy successor. There are tons of 8" tablets available but for sheer portability (and why the nexus 7 was so popular in the first place), the T2 is a viable option.
Huawei also had the Media Pad X2 7.0 which has far superior hardware but I have been unable to find one to purchase anywhere.
I also used the Nexus 7 primarily as an E-Reader (I have had it with junk E-Ink devices, kobo and kindle are garbage)
but my Nexus 7 has a stuck reboot loop issue if it powers down.

Not only that, it's also got Micro-USB, not USB-C. Deal breaker.
Same goes for the Huawei, Micro USB.
The Lenovo is also availble in an LTE version. I don't need that, got a nice phone with an international contract as hotspot, so no more additional contracts for me, WiFi does the job for me.
The Lenovo does look like a solid device. For me the size though is a no go. Plus I have not seen it for sale anywhere in Canada. No clue what the supposed release date is.

As bad as it's going to sound. I'm glad Apple is finally in the wireless charging game. Ya know they're likely to drop an iPad with it soon, and this may inspire the creation of other wireless charging tablets. It's really the only thing holding me back from replacing the Nexus 7 2013.

Who's excited bout the Note 10/Plus

Hey fellow Samsung Knights? I was really excited about the Note 10 until the leaks started rolling in and now I'm not even sure I want it anymore. I sure love me some s-pen action but at what cost. Other than said s-pen I see no reason to upgrade/switch to the Note 10.
I just wanted to hear from you guys in this community. Is the Note 10/Plus worth it?
Yes, not much of an upgrade, other than the storage being faster and front camera changing to pin hole centered.
Was gonna upgrade a couple months ago when it came out, but il stick to s10+ and wait for the s11. I don't use the pen and I have started using the aux input a lot since I have it again (came from OnePlus 6t)
Personally I upgrade every 2 years but interested to see what it brings. More excited for the tab s5 - s6 as I currently have the tab s3 and am looking to upgrade it.

No, 6 is supposed to be announced along side the Note 10, which I believe is what they are referring to.

Wouldn't going from 2 camera's to 1 be considered a downgrade if anything?

Depends on the user I guess. I have no use for 1 OR 2 of them on the front, so getting rid of the big oval eyesore on the S10 series would be an upgrade for me!

It's been a few generations now that the "next one" has never been "exciting enough" to upgrade in the first place. Same case it would be for the vast majority, jumping from S10+/Note 9 to Note 10(plus)!
Having said this, little things like UFS 3.0, 7nm Exynos 9825, ToF sensor, 45W charging, possibly a button-free overall design, no dedicated hardware bixby, hopefully an upgraded OneUI right outta box etc. actually do excite me. Hence will definitely buy the "plus" , also because I never skipped any "S" or "N".

Yes ment tab s6 it was referred to as the tab s5 till a leak a few weeks back suggested samsung would go to s6 now everyone is calling it that.
The Note 10 plus is looking better and better. SD 855+ apparently the cameras won't be the same as the s10 plus. 12GB /256GB as basic configuration. It's probably going to start at $1800 CAD. Good thing I held off buying the iPhone XS Max, still got 2 good kidneys. ?

I was not gonna get it but the $600 trade in had made it more appealing! I reserved it so il decide once the time comes
I miss the S-Pen. I am going to sell or trade in my S10+ for it.
I hazard a guess the Note 10 none Plus version will be a major flop.

I would tend to agree with you. If you want the Note you tend not to want the watered down version. Unless the price is really compelling which I doubt.
I know I want it, I'm just not sure I want it pre-ordered at full price since I don't see the trade in reservations on Samsung.com/ca it's a US only thing for now.

I was excited until I read that there will not be a headphone jack. Without the jack there probably won't be a FM radio either and I use both daily.
I would be more interested in the non plus Note 10 for the better size but TBH would be looking at it more as an S10+T than a Note.
Will the Note 10plus have 3d face unlock?

Just read a rumor that the SD note 10 is not getting the 855+ anymore. Just the regular 855

There's also a rumor that we might be getting the Exynos version. I guess we'll know for sure on the 7th!
