Water Indicator Sticker - LG V20 Questions & Answers

Can someone post a picture of the water indicator sticker behind the battery on their LG v20? I wiped mine down with a Lysol disinfectant cloth and didn't notice it. When I realized it was there I noticed it had red X's on it. Not sure if that means I tripped it or not. Thanks!

Damn. I guess the one behind the battery is white too right? That's the only one that tripped. That's gonna screw up my trade in value.

If you're on tmobile you're going to have a hard time jumping to another phone as well, my v10 had the sensor triggered on the battery and they wouldn't take it fortunately for me I had a second battery and they took it with that battery.
These sensors are lame because they literally can be triggered by humidity in the environment.
Edit: I just checked mine and its triggered as well and it has never been exposed to water what a load of crap.

Might need to get a new phone with insurance if I decide to jump now. Crap. Maybe white out will do the trick! [emoji6] I still have awhile before I can jump anyways. I might really damage the phone before then.

Ignore the pic in Post #5, that has nothing to do with water contact indication.
Look inboard of the VOL+ button, above where it says nano SIM. Beneath that small hole you will see the white indicator.

water damage indicators?

where are the water damage indicators on the droid x (i heard there were 2 or 3)?
also, what are they supposed to look like before and after water. I see the main one under the battery cover is white with red Xs. I heard that water damage should make it all red, but a verizon rep told me the phone suffered water damage so I'm kinda lost right now...
thanks for the help!
The two that I know of are: one on the battery itself and one on the bottom left of the battery compartment. Both are white with red X's. On them. I am unsure if there are more than that or what color they turn when they get wet. I would say red or pink.

They turn bright pink/red as a solid color.
OP, if it still has the lines on it with a white background, then the rep was wrong and should still warranty your phone. Unless they are saying that all 4 of my phones have water damage, one of which I haven't even fully charged yet because I just took it out of the box 20 minutes ago.
ok thanks guys. I noticed the one on the battery is gone (it peeled off when I was taking the battery out one time, not realizing what it was), but that wouldn't be causation for them not to replace it if the main one on the phone is fine and dry, right?
Shouldn't, I mean you might be responsible for the battery but they should replace the phone

They may still not replace it until you get a new battery. Never had an issue with just the battery. I would explain the situation and see what happens.

Even if the battery water damage indicators is off, we still consider the phone as water damaged by default. Try getting a new battery in your phone and then take it back.

So if I return it with the extended battery they sold me (which I just planned on returning) they would let me keep it right? then I could just slap in the original battery and return the extended after I get a new phone.

Sea water is bad. The salt corrodes electronic contact points really fast.

May be worth flushing with distilled water to clean the salt. I realize it's more water but it should help.

You can also try putting it in rice for that to soak up the moisture as well.

Looks like I'm done. Back with my old Gnex. Thanks guys, I'll try to open it and rub with alcohol; can't risk anything anyway.
Could you please explain why trying to turn it on does damage it more?
U can try all the above things but I don't think it would work in this case. Because u didn't pull the battery (not really possible very fast) your phone got short circuited and is probably dead.
Also, if it works your phone will get all sort of other problems after a while. This can be everything from reboots till cam failure.
My advise, sell it and get yourself a new one!

Too much heat is bad for any kind of electric devices. A little warm to dry up is pretty okay, but I recommend no heat at all. Heat will causes expansions that could misshape the devices and leads to other issues (such as disconnect in the mainboard, durability decreased, battery probably wears out faster). Higher temperatures also increase the electrical resistance of the conducting lines, slowing the signal speed and reducing performance.
Learned from my mistake with the ipod touch lol :silly:

Mate... Unfortunately my nexus 4 never turned back on. But then the above tips are very legit, at worst it won't turn on again, but if you're lucky everything could be alright except for your camera which most probably has been short circuited. Did you try to turn it on since it fell in the water?
As for my galaxy nexus which was in my pocket when I fell into a pond full of fish at a hotel, it was fortunately not salt water, survived with my camera short circuited and I think part of my board as well as it became slower but then its still works. It was completely drenched as well.
Well its none of my business, how come yours fell into water? My dad's nexus 4 fell down and the screen was completely shattered :'( we are unfortunate with nexus phones here, phones only as my nexus 10 never had any problems since purchased xD
All the luck be with you

[Q] LG G2 back cover creak

I have to bend my phone to make the cover creek. If it's the same for you the sollution would be not to bend it. If it makes sounds without bending i think i personally would consider exchanging it for a new one.

It makes sounds by just applying a small amount of pressure on the back, especially on the left side of the back (ie not on the SIM card side). Occasionally it also creeks by just picking the phone up from the table.
i can confirm your experience. same with my d802. doesn't bother me at all.
It sounds like a bad phone you got there.
The G2 is extremly solid compared to other plastic phones. I can't even make it creak if I press hard, or bend (not gonna bend it extremly much, no phone is built for that )
I would recommend exchanging it.

I am not sure which model I have, but the back is not removable (not without special tooling that is).
Anyway, I just had a look at some display models in my store and they were all (3) having this issue. Guess I will just wait for my case to arrive and hopefully that will "solve" the creaking.
I have had a Rogers unit and now have a bell unit and they both creak below the volume down button

Samed thing here ... mainly around the buttons.
I was going to send it back to the store but I guess it's a general issue for which people are more or less sensitive.
Mine doesn't creak (VZW) and I've taken the back off several times.
When I went to Verizon to look at the phone or creaked horribly.
I walked out the store. Bought two and there's no creak at all.
What you guys expect from a plastic phone? I think eventually they all going to creak at one point or another.

Rumor about the hole of the earpiece! Waterproof Rumor!

Browsing other Xperia Z2 forum, a user asked about the water resistance and input headset, since it has no external insulation, as covers. One reviewer said the author of the following topic:
"Check if you don't see a screen light in the hole, there were some not sealed examples problems.. it should be dark when the phone is unlocked. Would help to make sure it is sealed."
This actually makes sense?
I tested mine and when I turn on the device screen I can see light through the hole of the headset!
Has anyone tested to see if it makes sense?
I haven't heard about this, but for the screen gap issue Sony said you could take your phone to a repair center for a water resistance test, I'm sure they would do this for you if you are worried about it.
I see the light of the screen through the jack and I plunged my phone several times in the water, no problem.

This sounds strange but put the hole to your mouth and such on it like a straw then plug it with your tongue. If the suction stays then your good and waterproof.

Notice to T-Mobile jump users (water sensor on battery)

I thought this might be useful for anyone who wants to trade their phone in the future using the jump program.
I am sure many of you don't realize but the batteries actually have a moisture indicator on the top of the battery by the pins (it's a white circle).
T-Mobile will not honor a jump if this sensor is tripped (the indicator turns pink/purple). I was lucky and the guy I was dealing with told me if I had another battery that didn't have the sensor tripped I could still trade it in. Luckily I got the extra battery when I bought my v10.
I am pretty sure normally they would not allow this and I just got a nice employee but for those of you looking to jump in the future make sure the circle is white to avoid any problems in the future.
The funny thing about this situation is the phone had never been exposed to water and I actually think it got triggered when I had the spare battery in my back packet and somehow got water on the back of my pants. This makes me wonder if that's why the v20 charge kit includes a protective case for the spare battery.

its litmus paper 99% of phones have them.. theres more then that one on the phone tho, its just the att rep being incompetent.
The indicator is not proof of damage but a indicator for a rep to look further for damages especially liquid.
In my stores, we would open your phone infront of you and show you the corosion and damage from liquid if any, if not we would continue as normal.
Look above your SD card slot, theres one on the back housing near the bottom right of camera, and i dont doubt there is another 2 more of them on the inside near charger and near the top also... If i disasemble my phone soon ill take photos of the other areas they have them..
but yeah... Its supposed to just be a tool for the rep to know to look harder, the battery can change colors from a sweaty hand touching that spot, its just litmus paper.

Interesting information thanks! I am on T-Mobile.
When I jumped they only looked at the battery one I suppose they didn't want to spend time to look at the other indicators and the battery was the easiest one to look for. Hell my rep didn't even turn on the phone.
I find it pretty silly they come to the conclusion it's been wet based on these papers, theorically humidity could change the color right?

My indicator on my galaxy note 4 under the battery changed color and I never got that phone wet. Very humid in Houston, TX though especially in a pocket.

Yup. Humidity trips them most of the time. Even having the phone in the bathroom while taking a really hot shower (steam) can do it.
Thanks for the information ill have to be a little bit more careful with my phone now since i am having some minor issues with it.
