Dex Home - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Hi,
I disabled Dex Home through package disabler, but after reboot the process still runs.
Can't figure out why.
Can anyone please shed some lights?
Thanks

Don't worry about it, BBS and WLD put samsung Dex home as name, but it's actually Android system wakelock.

Yours ran only for a couple mins over 18 hours and mine ran for 1.5 hr over 3 hrs.
I'm not sure how to debug this.

I just meant to show you the contents of that said "Samsung Dex home" in betterbatterystat.
it is actually Android os/system wakelocks and not the samsung Dex itself.
You can try disable bloatware packages you don't use to lower wakelock time.

I disabled Google play services motion sense.
Sort of kick it down a bit.

I installed greenify and the sensor usage by DeX just shot up I uninstalled greenify and it disappeared again

I didn't have greenify but I had forcedoze.
I am uninstalling forcedoze and trying greenify with aggressive doze.
I'll see what happens

Aggressive doze it's what causing it you will find out

1. How to stop GOOGLE SERVICES from eating up my battery? i get hardly 3 or 3 n half hours of screen on timing and wid standby total of 12-13 hours...I have also disabled SYNC and location settings and GPS and using greenify too.
2.IN CPU WAKELOCKS>>>What is 1013?when i click on it for info it shows info as Audioout_2 and TYPE :SYSTEM(MEDIA).
3.IN KERNEL WAKELOCKS>> What is l2_hsic? This time it showed just 1 h and 7m...before it was 3-4 hours...
4.IN KERNEL WAKELOCKS>> What is umts_ipco ? It also showed less time as before it was same like l2_hsic.
5:IN KERNEL WAKELOCKS>> What is exynos5-fb.1 ? exynos is the process as far as i know :/ but what about fb ? FACEBOOK ?
These are the main issues which are draining my battery like hell..if anyone has knowledge about the above questions plz allow me to learn something from you thanks ...
Hey mate
I had the same issue as you.
Most likey google play updated to 4.3.11 or something like that.
You need the 4.1.10 I've got 4.3.10 and its back to normal.
The updated app turns on some sort of hidden location services and polls ever so often.
Go to settings then apps. Then find google play then click on uninstall updates. Restore previous update.
Hope that helps.

Google play services is the main big issue for the battery drained.
I have manage to stop Google play services after following this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35755907&postcount=11160
my battery now can last between 2-3 and a half days with moderate usage.

I have the same issue and it started a few days ago with no changes in rom or kernel...if you search around you'll see other phones having the same problem... some say it's wireless location service some the play store version...for me nothing seems to work also considering play store automatically updates!

try wake lock module from exposed module
it will delay Google play services and location services to use CPU frequently.
Also use greenify it will hibernate apps which are not required at times.
press thanks if I helped you.

copresGcore_EventLoop wakelock eating battery

Hello sinc the past few days I'm having this wakelock eating my battery. I tried to research what it is with very little success. I updated my rom to the latest slimkat and gapps with little success. Anybody had the same problem? Thank you
Same here
getting the same , keep awake solid 100% by this Google play services wake lock, any ideas on how to stop it would be greatly appreciated.
Fixed my problem with copresGcore_eventloop
Ok, so awhile back I followed some tweaks to Google play services to save battery drain, see this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/guide-google-play-services-battery-t2832525
Which worked rather well, but since the latest Google play services update went in I started getting the 'no deep sleep/keep awake' issue that BBS and GSAM showed as being caused by copresGcore_eventloop .
What I did was just reverse the tweaks in android tuner , and also removed my Google account and added it back and then rebooted. This has fixed my issue with copresGcore_eventloop .
I have not yet had time to see if reapplying the tweaks would start the issues again but likely will try that soon and will try to post back results.

After disabling some services I saw this wakelock today as well for the first time.
To fix the problem it was enough to re-enable
Code:
com.google.android.location.reporting.service.PreferenceService
Wow! Was it a magic?

I have a whole bunch of disabled location-related services (cause I need GPS but don't need all other location facilities). But this service was THE one! After reenabling it abnormal wakelocks are gone! Thank you very much!

Could you please post your list of disabled services? I am not sure which
services to disable in order to get rid of the network location stuff, I also
need only GPS via satellite.

Here is it (via ol' good Disable Service):
Code:
In [B]Google Services Framework[/B]:
com.google.android.gsf.checkin.CheckinService
com.google.android.gsf.checkin.EventLogService
In [B]Google Play Services[/B]:
com.google.android.location.reporting.service.DeleteHistoryService
com.google.android.location.reporting.service.DispatchingService
com.google.android.location.fused.FusedLocationService
com.google.android.location.reporting.service.InitializerService
com.google.android.location.reporting.service.LocationHistoryInjectorService
com.google.android.location.reporting.LocationReportingService
com.google.android.location.places.PlaylogService
com.google.android.gms.gcm.ProxyGTalkService
com.google.android.location.reporting.service.ReportingAndroidService
com.google.android.location.reporting.service.ReportingSyncService
com.google.android.gms.subscribedfeeds.SyncService
[STRIKE]com.google.android.gms.update.SystemUpdateService[/STRIKE] (UPD at June 2015: do NOT disable this service, with new version of Google Framework it leads to not sleeping system)
com.google.android.gms.wearable.service.WearableService
It is a full list of Google services disabled on my system (Xperia Ray SJB8 CM10). Probably, some of them aren't disabled by me but by some software due to appropriate settings.
Obviously, I do not recommend in any way to do such hacks on other systems. It is just my weird brutal parascientific experience. Kekeke.
What app is everyone using to disable these services? Thanks

I saw copresGcore_Eventloop wakelock in BBS. I then saw under Settings > Battery represented as Google Play Services. I then experimented with Greenify, DisableServices and using Titanium Pro to freeze apps following the link provided in the first few posts of this thread. All were very interesting but caused notifications about problems with Google Play Services. I'm on 4.4.2 and stumbled across App Ops in System Settings. I tapped on Google Play Services and unchecked a bunch of elements I don't use and it now doesn't appear on the list in battery. I have two google accounts, one is only used to share Google Play Music with my wife. I unchecked all the boxes on that account. I think there is a bug relating to having two google accounts.
Disclosure: this is on a Verizon Galaxy Note II running 4.4.2 Alliance ROM 30

I can't believe this, this is incredibly horrible. I can't even name all of my apps right now because I'm afraid the length of the list is going to kill my battery more. Please someone help with this drain? I have 3 hours on a 61% battery.
Other than my device heating up during full gpu usage during game, I don't have battery/heating issue. My experience since OTA so far is that MM runs cooler and battery life has improved (not significant but in positive gain). Brave frontier game will heat up your device fast.

Xposed v23 arm64 causes massive battery drain like 1% loss every minute, and also heating issues upto 46°C, i used gravity box, snapprefs only, but without them, it was still draining.
I might try the safe mode way to identify the problematic app(s)... when I go on holidays next week.

Just reinstalled xposed yesterday after my upgrade earlier this week. Last night/today my phone suddenly started rebooting itself. Might be related to greenify on my end. Going to uninstall xposed, as I think it might be related.

Greenify's GCM Notification functionality is culprit for the reboots. Unchecked it and there will be no more random reboots

Greenafly V built in optimizer V package disabler

Am I overdoing it by using all three. My screen time has increased to 5 hours (I'm a heavy user) not rooted. Not sure which one if any is the most effective. I disabled Facebook and replaced it with the chrome shortcut, but I do use messenger I find it very good for chrystal clear phone calls shame I can't shortcut this on chrome. Package disabler seems very good but not sure. Your thoughts

A while ago I was using everything I could to improve battery life. Greenify, Amplify, Package Disabler, freezing/deleting system apps, 2g only, no auto brightness and so on.
Now I do not even install xposed. I just let the phone run as it is. Remember to keep your signal strength strong and greenify apps that you're not using. That's all.
