Am I overdoing it by using all three. My screen time has increased to 5 hours (I'm a heavy user) not rooted. Not sure which one if any is the most effective. I disabled Facebook and replaced it with the chrome shortcut, but I do use messenger I find it very good for chrystal clear phone calls shame I can't shortcut this on chrome. Package disabler seems very good but not sure. Your thoughts

A while ago I was using everything I could to improve battery life. Greenify, Amplify, Package Disabler, freezing/deleting system apps, 2g only, no auto brightness and so on.
Now I do not even install xposed. I just let the phone run as it is. Remember to keep your signal strength strong and greenify apps that you're not using. That's all.

I know how to "force stop" running applications, but is there a way to close all running applications at once? I get tired of checking the weather, KNOWING I pressed "exit" and yet still see that stupid app running in the background. It's annoying especially when you've got 3 or 4 things that never close (Silk, weather channel, amazon video)
I hate having apps run in the background. (Besides the ones required to be on, of course)
Use a task manager, like Gemini App Manager.
Thanks, Gemini is even available on the Amazon app store. I'll give it a whirl tonight.
I think these apps running in the background are killing my battery life. I used to get 2 days without a charge, now I've gotta charge it every day.

Wow. I do use mine heavily for games, videos, etc but I'm hoping that with this app it'll help. Alternatively maybe something like JuiceDefender might help?
i use go launcher - in the app drawer you can switch to 'running apps' and tap on 'close all'. but it seems some apps are a kind of service - they start again ...
And if so: is it working for you? And what apps are greenified on your nexus?

Yes.
Yes.
Maps is a big one. It likes to run in the background and eat up battery.
im using, its working, and most my apps are greenified, besides a few root apps. i dont use notifications for any app besides gtalk and gmail, so i greenify all that i can. i also use an app called autostarts, which works well in conjunction with greenify
ya
I still don't know it's purpose.
Yolo
I can't get facebook message notifications even though I ungreenified them
I used to use it. Among the apps I Greenified were:
1. Facebook
2. Maps
3. ESPN Scorecenter
Although I found that WhatsApp and Viber woke my device quite often, I use them all the time so it didn't make sense to include them in the list.
In terms of effect, it did reduce battery consumption some. But then I figured I'd just be a responsible user and sparingly install apps and turn off notifications altogether if I didn't really need them (or use bookmarks to mobile web versions instead). If you really need all your apps, then Greenify is a safe choice.

The concept of turning off notifications altogether is good only of the app is properly written for it. For example Facebook.... Even if you turn off all notifications whatsoever it still creates wakeups.

Correct. Which is why I now use m.facebook.com instead. The Facebook app is a really terrible battery drainer.
I see maps waking up the phone quite often. But will Google now still work if you greenify maps?

Found this article on Phone Arena Doze. Someone has mimic'd the code of Doze from Marshmallow and made it available in a stand alone app in the Play Store. It creates a VPN when your screen is off, and limits background processes' access to data and whatnot, thus limiting wakelocks(at least that is what's advertised) It seems to be working well for me thus far, but I will update with results after I get a full day's use of Doze to see if it has saved me idle battery drain. It may help you too!
My T-Mobile Note 5 received an OTA update that added a feature called "app optimization" which mimics doze.
App optimization came with the Note 5 from day one as far as I know. I got the update on my S6 well before I bought the note 5.
Does anyone know if App Optimization interferes with notifications from apps like whatsapp, telegram, wickr, and signal?

Well it says does before you optimization starts so I'm guess yes.. If you don't use the app for a variety of days

I had to drop Marshmallow from my Nexus 6 because my alarms stopped going off and I kept missing my meds... Doze has issues.

Not for the N920T, I got it when it first came out. App optimization was only added on the latest update (COJ5), AOGE, BOH4, BOH6, & COI5 did not have it.
Not sure about those apps but it only works on user installed apps. Would be nice if some can make a mod to add system or preinstalled apps.
Hi,
I have owned a nexus 6p which has doze in it and I must say it is the best feature but what app optimization does is shuts down the application or hibernate the application if it's service(s) is not being used for a certain number of days.
But had some screen issues and having a replacement which had the same issue made me switch to note 5.
How do I disable it? Every time I turn off location it comes up with a warning saying My Places need location on to work. Is there a way to totally disable My Places as I suspect it's draining my battery?
Install Package Disabler Pro from the Play Store and disable it.

Thanks for that. I keep seeing people using it. Does it actually noticeably improve battery life?
Yes... assuming you don't go mad and start disabling everything. Also, don't use its inbuilt "disable bloat" option. It is too severe.
There are threads here where people post their .xml files and you can see what they have disabled, or even import their settings. Everyone's choices will be different however.
It is easy to re-enable apps if you find that you have lost functionality, or your battery life gets worse rather than better.

Oops. I've just installed it and used the one touch option to disable all the bloatware. But I've gone and enabled what I need afterwards again. It's the system apps I don't have a clue about so I guess I will have to wait and see. Do you know if there is a list of commonly disabled apps that people have used anywhere?
Yes, there is at least one. I saw a thread two or so days ago, I have just have a quick search but cannot see it currently.
Everyone has a slightly different outlook however. I just disable Samsung stuff I have no use for watch manager stub etc and Facebook stuff. I disable Google Play Games and Movies.
I don't disable any Google framework or system stuff.
I use Nova and therefore disable Touchwiz Home and Easy Home. It's logical when you think about it. If you don't use S Health, disable it.
You can undo the disable bloatware option if you want to.

Thanks for the info. Much appreciated.
Dear All,
During the past 10yrs at least I was /am a Samsung fan but not only.
I was using Galaxy phones from S4 up until now to S20Ultra. But also Oneplus devices and iPhones.
During this time I was able to see and maybe understand what is causing battery draining on Android devices, especially to Samsung ones.
Using Package Disabler Pro I was able to reduce at maximum the battery drain especially during standby.
Below are some insights from my own experience.
I did provide them to my friends who have S10+ and Note 10+ devices and they have now improved standby battery life for their devices.
What I did:
Step #1 - Download and install Package Disabler Pro or Package Disabler Pro Samsung (I am unable to provide the link because it is a paid application, but it is usable)
Step #2 - Enable as Admin
Step #3 - Disable the following bloatware
AndroidAuto if you don;t have a car enabled with AndroidAuto technology
ANT+ services
AR app if you are not a fan of them
Basic Daydreams
Bixby all services
all IMS services
CarmodeStub
Default Print Service
Dictionary
Emergency
Enterprise SIM Pin SErvice
Facebook services without the aplication itself
GameDriver and services
Google Play Services for AR
Google Text to Speach
Magnifier
Market Feedback Agent
Ok Google
Photosaver
Print Service
Samsung Daily
Samsung Galaxy Friends
Samsung Kids Installer
Samsung Mirror Link
Samsung Push Service
Samsung Text to speach
SwiftKey app
Tags

The MOST IMPORTANT is to disable the following:
com.sec.ims
imsLogger
IMS Service
IMS Settings
ANT + DUT
ANT Radio Service
ANT+HAL Service
ANT+ PLugins Service
Bixby Routines
Bixby Service
Bixby Vision
Bixby Voice
Bixby Voice Stub
BixbyVision Framework
Default Print Service
Facebook App Installe
Facebook App manager
Facebook Services
Nearby device scaning
Nearby Service
Print Spoolr
OK Google enrollment
Samsung Daily
Samsung Push Service
Thank you so much for this list - I was thinking of using this package disabler but dont know what apks do disable. Works great so far
EDIT = No changes. i tested it for 24h and standby drain is still the same. (1.5%/h overall, night 0.5%/h)

Exynos or snapdragob? And are you on 120hz or 60hz.
Looks good but something from that list crippled VOLTE and the samsung messages app. Will keep testing and try to figure it out. I'm on sprint S20. Thanks
From my understanding, some or all of the following are required for VOLte and calling via WiFi:

I have always done this to every Samsung device I have owned and enjoy minimal standby drain.
Btw CCSWE App Manager is a better buy than Package Disabler Pro since the later has license linked to your device Id, you change your phone, your license is lost.
Additionally I use CCSWE(paid once) on all my Samsung devices.

On my S20 Exynos its also the same. Used it for 24h and still same battery drain. (1.5%/h) Very weird, I disable all the apks that was mentioned in the first post.
just because you didnt need the apps it dont mean other wont need it.
IMS is important for VoLTE, VoWifi and RCS, why would you disable this.
Also you know what Emergency is for? It not sounds right to do disable that...

Just saying pros and cons... I guess it comes down to preference... One can argue that u don't have to install an app on the phone lol
Anywho, still a good list for reference either way u want to do it
Just use KILLAPPS Pro version.
Activate USER APPS and SYSTEM APPS
Then you'll see that there are like 290 app running, kill them all.
Also use Deep Sleeping in App Power Management.
I use Exynos and battery life is kicking after update TD5
I had already disabled a few apks myself and I was getting around 0.7% screen off discharging speed.
After following the guide and disabling a few more, it went down to 0.4%.
Thank you very much.
