Galaxy S8 broken? - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Hi guys, I have this phone from one month, and everything was OK since yesterday.
I have connected the phone via USB cable to my car to use Android auto for the first time. The phone was OK and the car recognize the phone.
When I disconnect from the car I notice the phone was very hot and from this time it is very very slow loading apps, unlocking, and all basic operation. It seems to freeze fo 3 4 seconds then it works normally.. after a couple of seconds it freezes again... And again...
I have rebooted, with no success. Uninstalled Android auto and Audi MMI app, with no success. I have restored the factory defaults... With no success!!
What appended? Maybe is broke some internal component? I don't know what I have to do..
Please, help me..
Thank you.

It is very common to freeze when overheated, wait for it to cool down and see if this still happening

Yes, also with phone cold it's very very slow and laggy. I have also restored to factory and the problem is still here.

Try wipe catche in recovery mode.Your presonal data will be intact

Warranty the phone.
That's not normal if it's still happening after a factory reset.

What can be happen? Maybe the usb cable connected to usb port of the car?

I think you have to use Warranty because many phone has a one years warranty. That's not normal if it's still happening after a factory reset.

help please! weird startup =S

hey people, im pretty new on here, but had my wizard for a while now, no problems with it, but the other day, it froze, so i did a soft reset as ya do, poked the button, and waited for it to load the O/S. I left it for 8 hours, and kept resetting it again and again. But it kept freezing on the windows mobile splash screen. By luck ive got it working again, i plugged it into my mains charger, and for some reason it loads up no problem. It will not load if plugged into USB, or by internal battery. When it freezes, the green light flashes, as if its working fine.
Another thing, when its not plugged in, the O/S number and other numbers on the first O2 splash screen take longer to show up as when its plugged in to the wall and does load.
Anyone got any ideas why its doing this?
Just annoying when im not at home, and it happens to crash, cant turn it on again =(
Cheers!

First, while you have it hooked to the mains charger, download and run ClearTemp, to clear out your hard drive of unwanted and unnecessary files. All that rebooting and freezing could be symptomatic of a full drive. Lastly, move your personal information to an SD card with DotFred's PIM Backup, and do a hard reset to really scrub the memory on the phone, then reinstall your data afterward.
If that fails to produce the desired results, try getting your hands on a new battery and see if that doesn't solve your problems...Seem to be a lot of folks with battery failures these days. Must be end-of life on the original hardware (which, to be fair, is about four years ago...unheard of in the current technology climate).

Pressing hardware key - Is my phone defective

Hi,when I press the center hardware key,I get this screen:
For example if I'm in a middle of a game and I want to go back to my home screen and I press the hardware key so I get to this application, this is the screen that pops out when the phone is docked...
How do I solve this?
Thanks.
Huh? lol
Made me laugh!
lol, that would be the desk clock screen, when your connected to the emmm you know dock, try pressing the home when not connected to it for the desired effect.
why would you be playing a game whilst connected to the dock. Bit awkward isn't it really.. ....
I'll explain again,my phone isn't docked.I never connected him to dock station.
But still I get this screen when I press the hardware key.
I must to restart my phone to get rid of that annoying issuse.
But suddenly (sometimes minutes later and sometimes hours later)it pops out again...
How do I solve this issuse?
Thanks.
someone????
Why waste time? Just backup and reflash your rom... Problem probably solved...

Maybe your using a launcher and set the home button to launch the app as default.

I have another major issue that annoys me from the beginning - once in a while(every few hours) my phone don't output sound and if I try to lock my phone by pressing the power button,my phone got stuck.
I must to restart him.
About the sound:When my phone don't output sound.I enter to Volume properties
and the Incoming call+Notification sounds are working but Media+System don't.
If I try to lock my phone sometimes it stuck.
I kinda play with the power button,I press him sometimes in a row because I know that my phone will stuck.
It can be stuck from the first press, second press, third press.
I mean it's random.
But it got stuck only when I have the sound issuse.
This problem so annoy me,I try several roms and no help.
I give up when I my phone don't recharge and give my phone the store that I bought from.
They factory reset my phone.
This reset help me for a while with sound issuse and solve my charging issuse.
Now I have these issuses:sound+stuck phone, harware key issuse, suddenley my phone activate car mode.
The two last issuses start after the facory reset.
Note:after the factory reset,I have used my phone days without encounter any of the issuses that I mentioned.
My question:Is my phone defective?
Thanks for your help.
Do a system wipe, restart with default settings. Before you reinstall any applications, test everything. If it works, it isn't any hardware fault.
Where do I find this system wipe?
Thanks.
me too had this problem when i installed sensation rom now i reinstalled to stock and i got rid of this prbm but now the prblm is i cant power off my s2 it gets restarted while i power off

[Q] sudden changes in the way the phone work please help!

Hi,
This might be a newbie issue but my HD2 was working well up until few days ago when I noticed that everytime I make a call instead of ringing normally it does it in speaker (hands free) mode what caught my attention since I didn't change any settings.
I'm inclined to think that it might be due to some corruption in the software since I didn't find any optios to revert this so I was thinking on doing a hard reset but...
The other issue I have is that I tried to connect it to two different computers (that it used to connect without problems) and it does not do it.
It does charge on the USB but neither PC's recognize that the phone is connected.
I tried 2 different cables on the 2 PC's without luck.
So again I'm now more convinced that it is a software problem.
Any idea how should I proceed so I don't loose any data????
Thanks,
Look up "stuck in car kit mode" see if it's the same symptoms.
I look into it thanks...
I looked it up,but is not exactly the same.
It's stuck on loud speaker yes but not in landscape mode, if I rotate the phone the screen works ok.
It also goes to sleep so they are not exactly the same
It just does not get recognized by the pc when I plug it on the USB.
I just get the charging light and the little plug simbol on top as you get when you plug to external power but the computers don't make the sound (or any sign of recognition) that normally comes when you plug any USB device to it.
Unless this is just the start of it...
Well, after reading all 12 (or so) pages on that thread and cleaning the heck of the micro usb, wigling the cable in every direction this morning I managed to connect the phone to the PC and get rid of the loud speaker, so even if the symptoms are not exactly the same looks like it heading in that direction.
Bummer...
I guess it's time to start looking for a new phone.

Serious USB Port & Cable Problems - Anyone Else Have This?

Just laying this down somewhere so its out there and not cluttering up Thing O Doom's thread.
Update: Got a refund due to them being OOS to replace. Oh well, no transformer for me...
Had some problems with my TF101, seems its a hardware fault with the USB port.
First cable: Caused Reboot then semi bootloop
Second cable: Disabled Power Button.
Cant seem to find any other people with these problems so am going to return it and get a replacement seeing how Ive just bought case, screen protectors, silicon skin etc.
Like the tablet and for the price I got it for I defo want a fixed unit!
History of posts in other thread:
First Cable:
After booting and the usb cable is attached it 'crashes' back to the main EEEPC logo screen and seems to be bootlooping except that it doesnt get to the boot animation. Just logo > black screen > logo > black screen.
Once cable is removed it boots and operates as normal until cable is plugged back in again.
I can get to recovery and use that no problem, even adb, but no go when booting into android.
Notes:
It worked before the rooting as was using it to do the rooting
If I plug it in at ANY point itll do it, powered off, boot animation, launcher etc
adb works fine in recovery
Havnt flashed a new rom yet as just got back from work
Update 1: Factory rest in TWRP = Problem still persists
Update 2: Wiped all partition (except sd) and restored backup after first root = Upon first connection it 'crashed' but this time rebooted to the os. This time Battery was 0% and crashed again when going into settings.
Update 3: Holy s*** - It does it even when not plugged into a PC! Just plugged the cable in by itself and it did it WTF!
Either the cable or connector is faulty Will have to try another cable but wont get one till next week now. If it does the same Im gonna have to send tablet back. FFS.
It must be cable as AC fits nice and tight (first time I used it was before rooting) while the USB is slightly loose and not as 'snug'
Why does it work fine in recovery though?

Looking at my amazon purchase Im thinking it isnt a genuine cable and cheapo knock-off (wasnt cheap cash-wise!)
Wondering if its something to do with the charging pins and it trying to charge but do data at the same time causing it to 'crash'. Could have been knocked out of place as the first time id used it was to use the root tool.
Anyway, when my new cable arrives Ill move this to a new thread if needed but for now Ill leave the post here in case any one else stumbles across it.

Second Cable
Well, its definitely looking a hardware problem as this new cable that came today does similar except that it only turns the screen off but doesnt reboot it. Cant turn the screen on until the cable is removed.
I got it connected to PC with the new cable as well as adb was working etc but no screen
Going to return it for a replacement if I can manage to get it returned to stock rom and recovery.
Everything else on the tablet works fine except the one thing I needed to work 100% lol just my luck
;edit; ...wtf...Flashed to stock and both cables are new cable is working fine...Will have to see wth is going on later when I get back from work
;edit2; Nope it just disables the power button so I cant turn the screen back on. This feckers going back!

What do I do with my Mako?

Well, I f**ked up everything. First, I buyed an used Nexus 4, and the seller said that there were some problems like
- The phone doesn't connect to the PC. And I've tried everything. It really doesn't connect to it. Only charge. (I tried going on the storage and check mtp, tried to install the drivers... everything u could imagine. I thought I could fix it, but I couldn't) it's probably a motherboard issue, as the seller said that the guy who tried to fix it said to him. So, I need a new motherboard right? I've already changed the flex cable. Nothing. Only charges.
-"When the phone turn on, the touch may not be 100% ok, but just wait a bit", he said to me. But the touchscreen was 100% OK, unless when the battery was <15% that the touch screen became crazy.
-The battery life is awful. I thought that if I buy a new battery, it would not be a problem anymore. I WAS WRONG (again). The battery was going down very fast, as the old one.
I've tried a lot of roms. (I use to download roms on my pc and send it to myself by email, then I just do it)
I've changed the flex cable
Tried another battery
And the navigation bar was crazy. I installed a program that I could change the resolution, so, the crazy ghosts touches were not an issue anymore.
The phone was still "usable", but now, my friends... Now I ****ed up everything. I wiped the data... This program was deleted, and i'm stuck at the welcome screen. The "Next" button is untouchable. The touch is not crazy, but unresponsive there, where the navigation bar use to be. The welcome screen is not rotatable. I really don't know more what to do. I thought I undertood about phones, but now, I see I'm a very noob at this. But, I wipped the data because it was necessary. The phone didn't stop reboot itself. It was being some 10 seconds awake, then it just rebooted. First I tried to wipe only the cache, but didn't work. so I wipped the data too. And here I am. Can someone help at this? :crying: Sorry for the giant text. Just copy and paste it in google translator e click to hear lol
