Just laying this down somewhere so its out there and not cluttering up Thing O Doom's thread.
Update: Got a refund due to them being OOS to replace. Oh well, no transformer for me...
Had some problems with my TF101, seems its a hardware fault with the USB port.
First cable: Caused Reboot then semi bootloop
Second cable: Disabled Power Button.
Cant seem to find any other people with these problems so am going to return it and get a replacement seeing how Ive just bought case, screen protectors, silicon skin etc.
Like the tablet and for the price I got it for I defo want a fixed unit!
History of posts in other thread:
First Cable:
After booting and the usb cable is attached it 'crashes' back to the main EEEPC logo screen and seems to be bootlooping except that it doesnt get to the boot animation. Just logo > black screen > logo > black screen.
Once cable is removed it boots and operates as normal until cable is plugged back in again.
I can get to recovery and use that no problem, even adb, but no go when booting into android.
Notes:
It worked before the rooting as was using it to do the rooting
If I plug it in at ANY point itll do it, powered off, boot animation, launcher etc
adb works fine in recovery
Havnt flashed a new rom yet as just got back from work
Update 1: Factory rest in TWRP = Problem still persists
Update 2: Wiped all partition (except sd) and restored backup after first root = Upon first connection it 'crashed' but this time rebooted to the os. This time Battery was 0% and crashed again when going into settings.
Update 3: Holy s*** - It does it even when not plugged into a PC! Just plugged the cable in by itself and it did it WTF!
Either the cable or connector is faulty Will have to try another cable but wont get one till next week now. If it does the same Im gonna have to send tablet back. FFS.
It must be cable as AC fits nice and tight (first time I used it was before rooting) while the USB is slightly loose and not as 'snug'
Why does it work fine in recovery though?

Looking at my amazon purchase Im thinking it isnt a genuine cable and cheapo knock-off (wasnt cheap cash-wise!)
Wondering if its something to do with the charging pins and it trying to charge but do data at the same time causing it to 'crash'. Could have been knocked out of place as the first time id used it was to use the root tool.
Anyway, when my new cable arrives Ill move this to a new thread if needed but for now Ill leave the post here in case any one else stumbles across it.

Second Cable
Well, its definitely looking a hardware problem as this new cable that came today does similar except that it only turns the screen off but doesnt reboot it. Cant turn the screen on until the cable is removed.
I got it connected to PC with the new cable as well as adb was working etc but no screen
Going to return it for a replacement if I can manage to get it returned to stock rom and recovery.
Everything else on the tablet works fine except the one thing I needed to work 100% lol just my luck
;edit; ...wtf...Flashed to stock and both cables are new cable is working fine...Will have to see wth is going on later when I get back from work
;edit2; Nope it just disables the power button so I cant turn the screen back on. This feckers going back!

Hey XDA, my phone's digitizer broke, so i decided to bring it to a local repair shop to get it fixed. The phone worked completely as I was able to run hyperdroid NAND and the touchscreen also worked perfectly as well. After getting the digitizer replaced from this guy, my phone would not turn on. The only way to turn on the phone would to plug in the USB. Even though it was plugged into the USB and powered on, it would run MAGLDR and go to the NAND boot where it would say 123456 gogogo. From there it just stops and stays there. Also when i boot into the tri-colored bootloader, it does not recognize that my USB is plugged in, and also doesnt say cotulla blah blah blah. Still shows that it is running hardspl though. What could be the problem?
Much help would be appreciated thanks!
P.S. I would also like to say that when booting into MAGLDR, holding the power button does not bring me to the menu that shows boot SD or the stuff like tetris.
happened to me before. Check the battery pins maybe one of them is bent.
really? hmm. well it seems like the battery pins are fine! it has to be a hardware problem somewhere right? cause it was working before he went to work on it!
actually... do your pins go down pretty easily? i have to press kind of hard on mine for them to go down. but that doesnt explain the bootloader not recognizing the USB though... or does it??
yea they should be hard to push down... cant tell you if its hardware or not but if i had to guess im guessing one of the ribbons hasnt been reconnected right.
I can assure you it is hardware. I was running hyperdroid right before he fixed it! we turned it off and everything then he started working on it. a ribbon not connected right could be the case! ill see what i can do. maybe ill bring it back to him
in bootloader when i pull out my usb. it says serial where it should say USB
If this helps anyone, I just resolved this myself by pushing down a pin that was sticking up, then inserting the battery DOWNWARDS so the pins get pressed back down and it should allow your HD2 to reboot.
Yes I have read all posts regarding "Screen Of Death" issue and i have tried all the suggestions. But still, my 10.1 won' t turn on. I have left it drain the bat for 2 days now.
Even if i plug it to the charger there is no sign of battery charging. Hence just blank black screen. any other idea before I have to go to the Service Center. Thanks. Any help would be appreciated.....
Connect the USB to a Windows computer and press Power + Volume Up for 30seconds. Do you hear a Windows "new hardware found" sound?
Thanks... Tried... Still fail. My PC only signaling found new hardware but fail the installation process. I guess because the tab is still not ON. Help....
It seems my PC recognizes the tab but can't find the driver. I can also feel "warm" near the power button area when i connect it to any electricity but still no TURN ON or BATTERY CHARGING INDICATION.
Have you tried to charge it with the wall charger for at least 2hrs and then unplug it and hold powerbutton 10 sec?

Actually, that is what I was expecting as result.
The Power + Volume Up enables the nvflash APX mode, the screen remains totally black. I simply wanted to know if the tablet works and the culprit is just the screen. From what you say, we get the expected results... Windows detects the new hardware so the tablet works.
Now try the opposite: Power + Volume Down, hold it for 30seconds.
If you don't see nothing on the screen, it is probably a screen contact that got lose... you need to service it by Samsung.
yes done that. Still not ON. When I plug it I can feel it is working since I can feel "the warm" but screen still is blank
Then you already know what to do.
No biggie, Samsung will send you a replacement for sure.

yes. In fact now the APX is still working trying to find " a new hardware ". Should I cancel it and try the POWER+VOL DOWN now?
Yes, go ahead.
DONE the Power + Volume Down still not ON. BTW the APX Could not find any driver? Is it normal. Before this happens in fact i can transfer any file with my PC through MTP. Thanks again for your help. Hopefully you still know any other solution.... Keep waiting
The APX driver is included into nvflash package, it does not matter if you install it or not at this point. The advantage of this test is that the APX mode keeps the screen off in purpose, while allowing you to flash the tablet through a CMD window (only if you have an unlocked bootloader). We used this trick to determine if the core of your tablet works... we wanted to isolate the problem related to your screen.
I recommend you to contact Samsung and have the tablet serviced. Some screens lose a contact point when you drop the tablet by accident or if a soldering point is weak... The heat generated inside is enough sometimes to sever a lose circuit connection. Either ways, you do NOT want to keep this tablet.
I hope you did not flashed the tablet with some custom ROM, or else Samsung might void your warranty.
OK. Then the only thing i can do is go to SC.......Hmmmmm I am still using stock rom but unfortunately i did root the tab already. Is it bad judgement??? Thanks anyway.
I really hope it is only the screen connection lose issue. But just for curiousity. If only the screen keeps OFF, does it mean I actually can still check that my gtalk on the tab still connects? How this thing works??? since i just check with my phone my gtalk on tab is off.
You ordered the tablet online from Samsung or you bought it from a retailer like Best Buy?
I bought it from retailer. BTW is there any kind of USB JIG for the tab similar to SGSII? I just thought maybe this can help solve the screen of death issue. Ha ha ha ....
Perfect, just go see the store and explain to them nicely the issue. I'm sure they will exchange it for you.
Forget about the JIG or anything else, your screen is gone wacko... What you do now is try to force a blind guy drive a car... Just go exchange the tablet.
Ok I' ll do that. Thanks for your info and help. Hopefully problem will be solved soon.
I had the same issue but I couldn't return to the store so I went through support. They don't have parts yet so they just send you a different unit. In total it took 2.5 weeks for me and I ended up with an unlocked unit

Damn, it took 2.5 weeks to get a new unit?
The good news is, it's recoverable. The bad news is, it's going to take a long time.
Keep it off the charger.
Hold down the power button to get it cycling through APX mode while plugged into your PC (can hear the USB connection sound in Windows).
Tape the power switch down, verify it's still going into APX mode after taped, then unplug it.
Leave the tablet alone for a few days. Think about puppies, chocolate, bouncing breasts, whatever makes you happy, and forget about the Tab.
Come back, plug it back into the PC, see if you still hear it connect. If so, walk away again, come back the next day.
When it finally stops going into APX mode, plug it into a wall charger and leave it alone for about an hour, it should start charging normally, and once it's got charge showing, it'll power up normally.
Rule of thumb is it'll take about a full day for every 10% of charge that was on the battery when it went down, if you keep the power button taped down.
Hi everyone,
I would really appreciate it if you could give me an advice for my TMOUS HD2 P81120, that won't turn on.
I bought it with some firmware problems, spent plenty of time flashing it and finally managed to install a stock ROM from SDCARD using a fridge (it couldn't install w/o such cooling).
After that, it booted to white splashscreen with pink logo (smth like "Bringing happinness", don't remember the text) and stuck on it. I rebooted, flashed HSPL 2.08 successfully.
After that the device won't turn on at all. When I hold the Power button, all I get a barely sensible short vibration, but the screen stays completely black, no signs of life. I kept it on AC charger overnight — nothing has changed. When I hook it to the charger w/o the battery, and put the battery in, HD2 powers on itself (same short vibration, no other signs of life). Tried removing the sdcard, different combinations of power-ons, still nothing. Tried freezing it again for 5-10 mins — still no luck.
Please let me know what else I can try.
and one more thing — when I plug the USB, the PC doesn't detect any device.
It seems that a JTAG is my last resort, still I'm not sure I can find the hardware for that.

the problem is that your HD2 are overheating so the only thing thats left in your case is to replace motherboard

Good point!
Make sure that none of the three pins on the phone that touch the battery are bent. One of the causes of constant reboot is when one of those pins are not touching the battery. Please let me know if it worked for you...

That were definitely not the battery pins.
If anyone cares - here's how it ended (or not yet )
I found a JTAG service in my city, they wanted 50$ to restore the device to a working condition. I agreed, they took the phone. After that they've called me and said they have restored the bootloader, but can't make HD2 actually boot (they flashed stock ROM directly through JTAG, but it always got stuck on "Stick Together Screen". Now I understand I have probably flashed the wrong rom/radio — that's what has bricked it. I paid them 7$ for "diagnostics" and got back a phone with a working bootloader.
After that, I used the "fridge" method to flash latest radio for HD2 and some custom Win6.5.3 ROM (10 mins of fridge before each step). Then I cooled it again and put the cold phone on a frozen chicken (still laughing on that). Guess what — it booted into WM6.5, I even managed to make a call, though it rebooted in 3-5 mins. Overheating problems confirmed, at least it's not a complete brick.
What I've done now is found a guy that will try to "reball" the CPU's BGA - sort of "reheat" the chip to get a firm contact of it with the motherboard, and solve the heat problems. He'll call me today and let me know how it went — i'll update this topic.
As a conclusion, I can only say: "Check three times what you're flashing before you actually are flashing". Otherwise, JTAG is a wonderful "resurrection" solution, although a bit pricey (my case is pure luck).
Hi Guys,

Got the same problem right now, trying to solve it. Was about to post new topic but saw yours. Can you boot your device into bootloader? Mine seems to be able to do that and I see everything but once it shows the Google logo during normal boot or recovery, the screen goes dark and blank.
Very mysterious indeed, never seen this issue before...
Hoping someone can shed some light on this...

Can you remind me of how you did it?
Cause vol up+power\vol down+power won't work for me
What screen have you bought?
Cause I was super anxious about getting original Hydis, now chungwa they now sell everywhere
at first, I would think that I somehow messed uo the cable - but if you are saying, that you are able to boot
mystery!
I guess, we need some experienced service man here

Vol down + power. Though upon further reassembly, it seemed to get worse. Now my screen won't even light up or show anything. Try shining a flashlight on the LCD panel. Do you see anything? If you do, it's likely a bad data cable. In which case, you should find one on eBay.

It isn't working at all(
But I can't be 100% sure, cause I've so many change cycles
Buying things on ebay means +1 month of waiting, so I'd prefer to know exactly, will the new cable heal me tablet
Anyway, have you decided, what happened to your screen?

For me since I shone a light and there is something showing underneath and I know that the panel should work since I did see a Google logo and fastboot did properly show up before I reassembled it again 2 times before it completely disappeared, It's likely the data cable, so I repurchased a data cable from eBay.
Have you tried shining a light on to the LCD panel to see if you see anything? If not, it's likely a faulty LCD panel.

Hi,
I drop my nexus and had a crack screen so I replace it my self whit one from ebay. It work fine for a week then back from work it got stuck in a boot loop.
So I started to read about the fix and it kinda work.
My problem right now is that the device will only boot if it is connected to my PC. Has soon has I take the usb cable out, the screen freeze and I can't do any thing. Other then that, the device work very well, whit it's 2 foot of cable restriction....
So I re flash it for the 3rd time whit no success Using Wugs and Manually whit this guide m.blog.laptopmag.com/how-to-hard-reset-a-bricked-nexus-7-with-your-pc
I,m thinking maybe I broke the power connector while using it connected to the wall. I did accidentally pull hard enough to get the adapter out of the power socket.
Any idea what I should and can do to try and fix this problem before I buy other part ... or a new one ....
