Accidentally deleted OS - how to fix? - Huawei P9 Lite Questions & Answers

Today, I installed TWRP and rooted my device. I tried to install Xposed but I couldn't get passed the logo screen after rebooting. To try and fix this I did an advanced wipe and got rid of everything...
I know this was very stupid! TWRP is telling me there is no OS if I try to reboot. Is there a ROM I can install to fix this? I was on the stock MM rom and have L31 version.

I made the same mistake at some point, but managed to get it back up and running.
Download the correct version of "update.zip" for your phone.
In my case it is a L31C432 so I looked for a file called something like VNS-L31C432B160 (stock MM).
Download this (EU version) (if you have a L31C432)
Once the download is completed, rename the downloaded file to "update.zip".
While in Recovery on your phone, and it's connected to your pc, copy the "update.zip" to either the phone's internal memory or the sdcard (doesn't matter).
Grab your phone and go into "Install" in your recovery and find your "update.zip" file.
Slide and let it install it.
Once done, reboot.
Viola!
Remember the "Thanks" button if it helped :good:

Excellent, thank you! For some reason I had no way of signing into my Google account with that version, however I found a previous version in another thread on here and that works perfectly. Thanks.

It's meant to be unzipped and then flashed with the dload method. Hope that helps :good:

[Q] Restore to original - now updates not working?

Being my first android phone, I had a play around - used Unrevoked to root the device and install several versions on the Wildfire ROMs, but to be honest I am getting fed up having to re-install everything every time there is a bug fix, so thought I would go back to the stick rom. So I decided to restore my original backup which worked fine, only problem now is there is an update to download and install. When I try to install the update it boots into clockwork recovery and so the update does not go ahead. Any ideas on how so solve this problem? Voda unlocked UK device
BTW:- Thanks for the guys who put all the work into the custom roms, this is not a criticism of their work - its just I want to go back to a fully working system. Cheers
Hi, you have to rename the zip file : "update.zip" and put it on your SD card. Then, you choose it in recovery.

The update is downloaded automatically by the OS it's not something I have downloaded manually - Do you know where the system would download the file?
It downloads to sdcard/downloads folder i think.
I think too
Thanks guys, yes the upgrade was downloaded to that folder - it took a few attemtps to apply but worked.
So if I wanted to get rid of the clockovery pieces will I need to apply one of the RUU shipped roms? There is not one listed for voda (english) but would it be safe to apply the latest WWE ?

Update downloaded, but not used. How to remove?

So i've rooted and suchlike my OPT , and when 2.1.2 came out i said yes to the OTA prompt to download it. Although i didnt go ahead and actually install it (because I had rooted, I upgraded via a different method).
problem is, i'm still being prompted every now and again that i have downloaded and do i want to install it.
the question is, is there any way of deleting this download (if so, where is it located) so that it doesnt prompt me to install it? or if its not a case of just deleting it, is there a way of getting rid of the prompt via other means?
thanks

Had the same. Solution that worked for me: search in the internal storage for a folder called ".OnePlusOTA". You have to use a file explorer which can display hidden folders on Android. ( Total Commander worked for me ). Inside this folder there is the .zip file of the OTA. Delete it and go to the System Update Page and check for updates. Should say that the system is updatet allready and the notification should stop to appear.

Instructions for latest TWRP
1. Download latest full ZIP -> 2.1.1
2. Download Incremental OTA ZIP
3. Dirty flash full ZIP -> Incremental OTA ZIP -> supersu ZIP
4. Wipe Cache + Dalvik
5. Reboot
This steps worked for me. I'm not taking any responsibility for these instructions. So try it at your own risk.
Hope i could help.

Cant flash stock rom

Hi guys. M currently usimg Nephilim Rom V2. I was trying to flash b594 stock rom. Whenever i tried to install it with stock recovery it just says no update.app is found. Even though i extracted the update.zip file and put it in internal storage in dload folder. I cant even flash it through fastboot because it gives error even though i extracted the img files through Huawei extractor. Can anyone help!!!!
What kind of error fastboot method gives you? I always have went back to stock rom by flashing a rom in fastboot and never had problems with it
While flashing system.img i got error cant load system.img. even though it's in the same folder as adb is. There was also an error whule flashing recovery extracted from update.zip. i was flashing the recovery.img only and it says errot:too many links.
Try to re-download your adb and its related files

Done that to same result...
So you want your original firmware correct ? If so , go here: http://consumer.huawei.com/nl-en/support/downloads/detail/index.htm?id=82749
Change region (if needed) find your phone and download that.
Once you downloaded it:
1. put it on your sd card
1.1 Since when you download the file, its gonna be in .zip or .rar format, you are gonna need to extract that and what you get out of that file (its gonna be a folder called dload) put that whole thing "dload" on to your sdcard. ( put in in a main folder of your sd card its called root folder, its where your main folders are like pictures, DCIM etc.)
2. turn off your phone leave it for a sec
3. then hold all 3 buttons ( power ,volume up , volume down) and it should start installing the thing.
Hope this helps.
Check this
https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-4x/how-to/install-emui-4-1-4x-4c-g-play-g-play-t3515702
It's on honor 4x forum but it says it works on p8lite android 5.0 or higher.
Are you able to install stock recovery through adb? If you are, you can easily use Huawei's recovery to flash the stock firmware

Hello and thank you very much for this useful download link
During the rooting method, my phone (nova 2 plus) became soft brick!
I tried to solve it!
I've done following steps but they didn't work (with your full rom - was linked):
1.
1.1. extract .zip file with winrar
1.2. extract update.app file using HuaweiUpdateExtractor
1.3. Put all extracted file to sd-card
1.4. power+volume up + volume down to update it but after 5 percent, appears "update fail"
2.
2.1. extract .zip file with winrar
2.2. extract update.app file using HuaweiUpdateExtractor
2.3. Flash the rom via fastboot (it completed successfully without any errors but phone reboot loop till huawei logo)
Now my questions:
1. The extracted file doesn't have "cust.img" is it OK or it should have it?
2. What can I do to solve my problem? (I've access fastboot and custom recovery)
Thanks for your patience and your answering.
Hi i have nova 2 plus bac-l21c185 and after wipe system my mobile never boots and always show error when trying to setup update.zip by twrp so please tell me if this rom will help me and able to setup correctly , if not ! So any idea will be useful .

D. Move firmware to sdcard and reboot to huawei recovery.

Stuck at ''Your device is booting now'' (bricked)

Hello,
This question has been posted before but I didn't find a solution on the previous threads.
My VNS-L31C432 doesn't boot past 'Your device is booting now'' after trying to install the C900B300 rollback package. The dload method, as well as the default recovery don't work either. I can access fastboot and flash another rom (using this method: https://forum.xda-developers.com/general/general/guide-flash-variant-version-firmware-t3506404), but so far nothing worked.
I can also install TWRP, access adb and shut down. I wiped everything from my phone in order to do a clean install, didn't work.
I was previously on Marshmallow (VNS-L31C432B161)
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
If your twrp works , try to install the rom with this method : https://forum.xda-developers.com/hu...ota-p9-lite-upgrade-rebrand-tools-pc-t3778839, it worked for me from soft brick. Download and try with FullOTA-MF-PV rom first.

Well holy sh** thank you so much!
I saw that you have single sim phone , so you must download rom with odd number ,try to download 391 version.
Download the HWOTA-VNS.zip file and unzip it. Copy the directory HWOTA-VNS to the root of your sd card.
When all of 3 files downloads find the one update_full_hw_xxxx zip (xxx is like e.g vns-l21c391 ) and rename it to update_all_hw.zip, copy the 3 files inside the HWOTA-VNS/upgrade directory.
Reboot to twrp and go to WIPE->Advanced wipe mark data and push Repair or Change File System, if writes: File System : ext4, live it , if its F2FS , hit Change File System and change it to ext4. Go back to main menu , go to install guide to HWOTA-VNS directory and install hwota_update.zip after that the phone will reboot and starts to update.
