hello,
my galaxy s8 has started dropping calls after 30 minutes of talking, does anyone else experience this issue?
how to fix it?
cant really tell because i dont talk for 30 min's straight. have you tried restarting, putting the sim in the SIM2 slot etc.
I have been having the same problem... I have called my carrier (Sprint) and they have not been able to fix it. Have you had any success at all?

I have a US unlocked model and use it on T-Mobile. I often talk over 30 minutes and haven't seen this issue.
I talk for 2 hours never had this issue . Life its exactly 30n minute it's ur Carrier. My phone carrier end my call after 2 hours automatically.

I am having this issue when calls get to the 8 minute mark I loose signal and the call disconnects then I get the signal back in 15 seconds. this tends to happen in every 2 out of 3 calls and in between the 8 to 10 min mark. any body else having similar issues.
I have the following upgrades
tmobile rom 2.17
agile messenger
smartskey
omapclock
gprs alwas connect tweak
Same problem experienced !
Is that a BUG ??...
I have started having this problem as well, but did not notice if the occurrances are at the 8 minute mark.
I assumed it was the Cingular network. Maybe not???
i had the same problem, however since i upgraded my rom the problem seems to have resolved itself (i dont regularly make 8min+ calls though so cant guarantee this will fix the problem)
are u guys using direct push. i am thinking it is when the data part of the radio tries to download while during the call. it causes it to crash. if i turn off direct push i no longer have the problem. how about u guys.

I don't have this problem but I have a thought that it might be due to heat. Do you have the screen on while making the call? I always turn mine off as I hit the send key.
As I say its just a thought, but the heat from your face added to the the device plus the display on may be over heating it causing it to cut out?
I had this problem after upgrading to the first AKU2.2 ROM that summiter put out.
After upgrading to the most recent version (the one he's calling the BETA), the problem has resolved itself.
this is getting to be a persistent and irritating problem . I have uninstalled all third party software but problem continues . my screen turns off at 30 sec so that should be ok. I will try to upgrade or degrade the rom. also switching of push sounds like a good idea but I was hopping the phone would be smart enough to do that on its own I like push.
Ignore my previous message - the newest beta from Summiter is even worse.
I'm going back to 2.17
When I saw this post, I at least felt that I was not losing my mind. I have had the 8 - 10 minute disconnect/drop for a couple of months. Luckily, most of the folks on the other end thought it was their phone. Now I'm a bit concerned since it appears others are experiencing the same issue. I am also on the 2.17.7.2 ROM version, and have the EDGE service pulling all the time.
grinny11 might be on to it. The autd heartbeat timeout for direct push is 8 minutes IIRC. Anybody not using direct push having this issue? Those who do: does turning off direct push before a long call correct this?
I haven't noticed the issue, but I'm rarely (if ever) on my cellphone > 8 minutes.
i have resolved my problem. Agile was the culprit. it was able to connect to the edge network even when a call was in process leading to a disconnect. now i just stop agile before making a call.
i really wish they would resolve this issue. i downgraded the radio rom once to 1.8 and i had less problems with dropped calls but still had a few. hopefully they will figure it out.
just realized that I have the same problem. Official Vodafone Germany 2.21 ROM, lotsa Software installed. though I don't know if it's 8min when it drops. What I noticed: I've been sitting in an area with 4 bars reception, had the call, then the call dropped with a silent "krk", and when I looked at the phone I had zero reception, the blinking LED was off also. After a few secs the LED would start to blink again, and reception went up to 4 bars again.
Very weird...
Lars
Another one with the same problem!
I have started having the problem after overclocking my phone, so maybe this could be the cause?
I have no Agile, nor any GPRS active at any time.
What about the others who have the problem?
Have you overclocked your phone?
Recently i have started using 4smarthone push service. This happens with me too, though i am not sure of the time mark. But isnt there any other way where we can set the Wizard NOT to connect to EDGE while a call is in progress? While turning off these sevices is ok before making acall, but what happens when we receive a call?
Peace
Same Problem
I lose all service when it happens, so for me it is not trying to dial out, just ... for service.
I have to say, I love my nexus 4, but I'm experiencing some serious issues.
Calls drop often. Usually within the first minute. The phone itself does not lose signal. Strange thing is, if I call back the second call almost never drops. Only the first call does and only if I haven't used the phone in a little while.
- I tried replacing my sim and the issue persists. No problems with other phones using this Sim (even in the same locations).
Very often during calls I notice that I lose my data connection-sometimes for the entire duration of the call, sometimes just for parts. It always reconnects as soon as I hang up.
- I've read that switching to WCDMA only will fix this. It doesn't make any difference for me.
These are pretty annoying issues. Anybody else experiencing them? Is there a different radio I can try for the phone? Is there any log I can access showing a reason for the call drop, or any trouble shooting I can do? This seems to be independent of WCDMA Only/Preferred/GSM/WCDMA (Auto) settings.
Note: This has nothing to do with the network. I've been with the same company (WIND) for about 2.5 years, and have never had this happen before. This has been consistent since I got my nexus 4 (about 2 weeks ago)

T-Mobile and WIND both use the same 3G frequency of AWS1700.. this is also the frequency used for the LTE chip. Maybe there is some correlation.

Is there any solution for dropped calls issues?
Hi Guys,
I have a major problem here. I got nexus 4 imported to india. I use it with airtel network one of the bests here.. previously i was using win 7.8 phone without any issues. Since the time i've started using nexus 4 my gf is complaining my phone will be not reachable most of the times.. once if she sends a msg she will be able to call. and the problem i myself have seen is like sometimes when i try to call a number right next second it gets disconnected and the phone vibrates, once i tired to call a number for 15 times all the attempts. if i try after sometime it will work. the network bars will always be full. the same thing happens when i try to use 3g. I am still in stock rom. nothing much installed. shud i try a factory reset . please help guys.
Same Problem
I am facing similar issues, with network disappearing after every call for some time. Also data capabilities are greatly reduces compared to my previous phone, even though i am using the same network Airtel

In my case after 10-20 mins i will get a miss call. Looks so weird.
If somebody tried to call me most of the time they will get messages like i am not reachable. After 2-3 minutes i will get a miss call alert. And sometimes after 10-20 mins i will get a miss call.
My phone is Nexus 4, 4.4.2
Desperate for a solution so here's my issue. Brand new S7 edge on Virgin Mobile Canada. Phone works flawlessly except when I place a call to a landline that busy. When I call a landline with no call waiting and someone is on the phone I should get a busy signal but do not. I get one tone of the busy signal then dead air for 35 seconds at which time it returns to normal. The odd part is that certain numbers this happens with 100 percent of the time while with other numbers its intermittent and still others it never happens to. Virgin had done extensive testing and troubleshooting and claim they're are no network issues. If I put my sim in other phones there are no issues and the problem disappears. Has anyone else experienced this or can anyone offer some suggestions as to why this may be happening. I really can't see it being a hardware issue given the symptoms but it sends to be pointing to it. Samsung has no record of this issue. Any and all suggestions will be appreciated.
Hi Guys
In the UAE and got a sparkling s8, but for 4 days now once a day, while on a call the call drops, signal indicator shows no service and then comes back. Problem is after this happens i am not able to make or receive calls as the other party cant here me. The phone needs to restarted and then works normally.
Has any one else experienced this. I had a chat to Sammy support and all they want to do is to change the SIM. I dont find this acceptable. Has anyone else had similar problem or do you know of any radio updates that could be applied.
thanks
Stiaan
Ican confirm that, it's happened with me exactly the same.
I am in uae using Etisalat in both sims.
Hope samsung solve it in next update, it's annoying.

I am using it in Australia, didn't had any issue at in past 3 days. I got my phone from 24th April. It could be your carrier issue as 2 reports are from UAE only. Who is your carrier provider?
I am also using etisalat.
Any one facing this issue in defiant carrier!
I think i figure out what coz the problem.
I am using app called "dual sim selector" pro version when I disable it all are ok.. Really strange i use this app in other phone with no problem. @stiaandxb are you using this app or similar?
I am in UAE on etisalat and facing the exact same issue with the new galaxy S8. Just hoping that it get solved by some software update.
Sound/Audio problem
I am also facing similar audio problem in Germany on O2. Sometimes when i call somebody and he picks the call. The audio totally disappears. I can't hear him and he can't hear me. After that all sounds from the mobile stops workings. No audio from Music player or videos comes out. If somebody calls me, no ringtone is played neither vibration works. Only system vibration works during SMS reception.
It seems like phone app somehow blocks all the sounds.
The behavior is random. It happens once a day on some call. The only solution to resolve this situation is by restarting the phone.

I got this exactly on my S8 in Bahrain, VIVA, then replaced with S8+ it is even worse than that.
I am from Egypt and face the same problem, call drops then no sound whatsoever until i restart my phone , S8+ dual sim (etisalat + vodafone)
Did anyone find a solution for this? I have the same issue. Galaxy S8+ in Cyprus/Vodafone? Happens every day and the phone needs restart for sounds to come back to life.
Same issue here in IndiaS8+ ( Vodafone +Jio). Tried resetting also. Then happened again once a week ago. Also note that when this happens phone stops behaving like crazy. Can't play video, audio or even network goes down. Both speakers can't play audio(for calls too)
Secondly, when switching the sim for mobile data ( say sim 1 to sim 2) the network goes down and never comes up until you switch back to the old settings of mobile data.
After restart phone behaves normally with proper audio through both the speakers.
Lastly, yesterday while playing asphalt 8, the phone( game) was lagging. There were many frame drops and stutters also the phone was working like it has onlh 512 mb ram. And then suddenly it got freezed with black screen. I had to force restart it by pressing power+Bixby key.
Let me know if anyone find solution for these.

Regarding game lagging issue, may be it can be resolved in Game Launcher by setting performance to "High performance" in the right bottom of Game Launcher.

We haven't yet got AQF7 for galaxy S8 in Germany. I have narrowed down the problem to some conditions. May be you can try this to try reproducing the problem. S8 or S8+ must be connected to GSM network in 3G mode, and the other phone must also be connected in 3G mode. Now call from S8/+ to other phone and put the mobile to your ear so that the screen is off (because of proximity sensor) while the bell is ringing. Now pick the call from other phone. Normally in first 2 seconds of call, phone goes to silent mode. Phone goes in silent mode in 5 to 10 calls and then you have to restart.

i will try to do that but please note that the phone was having this issue since day one. no matter what i had. 3G or 4G. Usually it was happening after 3-4 minutes or if i was in a low signal area or driving.
I tested with the update and my issue is gone so far with a lot of testing with calls more than 20 minutes straight
The good thing is that is seems now that this is not a hardware but software issue.

It never happened on my S8 in 2G or 4G. It always happened in the beginning of the call and never appeared once a call has successfully passed first five seconds. But once it appeared, the only solution is to restart. I am unable to find any other solution until now.

I was using the phone on auto 2G/3G/4G and it was always happening.
I tried 4G only and i had the same issue.
I tried 2G/3G and i had the same issue.
Now with the update i am always on auto again and issue is gone since last Wednesday.
Another thing we discovered is that in Cyprus everyone who had the S8+ and the carrier was Vodafone had this issue. Everyone who was with MTN did not.
Hi to all,
I saw that today a firmware was released for S8 also and in Germany. Firmware is the same as S8+ G950FXXU1AQF7

Yes, a firmware is available for Germany (Vodafone). My S8 is carrier independent and i don't want to write it using odin. I will wait for the OTA update.
