Remove lock screen wallpaper? - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Any idea how to remove the lock screen wallpaper and just have the clock? Was intending to save battery life with this.

Just replace it with a static black wallpaper??

You could also turn off lockscreen entirely in the security settings, and leave the always on display with the clock under display settings.

All I can say is that replacing lock screen with AOD is not the way to save battery life, as OP wants. Moreover I don't think lock screen has any effect on overall battery life, regardless how it's set up unless phone is locked and unlocked constantly. Even if you unlock your phone 20 times an hour and each unlock takes 5 sec, it would accumulate to about 1 min 40sec total screen time, you can run your screen for about 5-6 hours on one charge.

Its happening because of the default wallpaper 4 (probably), just go to wallpapers and change to Default 7 wallpaper hope that will answer your query.

screen / image burn imprint

hi , Does anyone know how resilient HD2 screens are to image burn in.
Is there a way to have the backlight go off rather than dimmed after a time on non use without disabling the auto screen brightness on normal use. I want to have the HD2 working (gps app) 24/7, and have had to untick switch off after a certain period of activity to keep it from switching off, but I cant find an option or hack to have the backlight off but the unit still operative other than to disable the auto brightness which I like and then manually turn it down. Its automatic dimming still leaves it unnecessarily bright with no one looking at it and I did think about image burn with extended periods even at 30 percent brightness. Thx folks.

[Q] Unlocking Device - Scrambled Screen?

Hi guys i seem to have a problem which i cant figure out where its coming from. This is my second device that does this, basically sometimes after i unlock the screen i get a glitch or scramble on bottom half of the screen for about 1-2 seconds, mostly when it unlocks to the contacts or call log tab.
At first i thought its because i had disabled the transition animations and window animation scale in developer mode but it did it after i set them back to default as well.
After i thought its from the light animation on the lockscreen and i disabled that as well but same issue persists.
It only happens 3-4 times per day.
I exchanged my first device because of this and now second one is doing the same. I will try and post a picture later. So is anyone else experiencing this or do i switch again?

Screen brightness settings?

I came from a Nexus 5 and had to always leave my screen brightness on about 1/3 in order to preserve battery. After playing with my 6P for over a month, I feel like the battery can handle a brighter setting (with my usage). But, I have concerns about burn-in if I put the setting too high since this is an AMOLED panel.
What brightness settings are you using and have you had any issues with burn-in?
I will get this started. I first started by activating the Adaptive Brightness under the display settings.
It makes the screen dimmer - to my eyes even though it sets the overall brightness to exactly half way.
I thought my whites looked somewhat grey at that setting so I turned it off and put my screen back down to 1/3 (LOL) and I am pleased with the results - especially at night as the whites look whiter.
anything past half at night burns in my retinas much less the screen.
I have not noticed any less Screen on time. I still get about 4.5 - 5 hours until it hits 15%. This is with location turned on and email push. I don't use twitter, facebook or any of those social apps the young people are using these days.
Is there an easy way to dim the screen to the point where you can't see the picture? I stream the phone in my car, which means it will get hot with charging, screen on, and high usage simultaneously. Since it is an AMOLED screen, it would not allow for screen off like other devices. Seems like without this, burn in would be a big problem for me.
I would think that you could just do the 2 finger swipe to bring it to the default menu. Then set the slider down as low as possible until you can barely see anything. I took a 5 hour drive today with my Nexus 6P with the girlfriend and had it plugged in for at least 2 hours at a time. My phone did not get really warm while either plugged or when running on battery.
Also I have enabled the System UI Tuner and now my phone screen only stays on when plugged into the power source if I select "stay on when plugged in"

No burn in issues? I would think there is a way to reduce brightness beyond stock but I don't know enough to do that at this point. Perhaps through Xposed it something.

I had a gnex that I kept on low brightness and refused to get another nexus until battery was straightened out. On my dmaxx, I kept the brightness high and no burn in on the amoled. The 6p isn't as good at battery, despite being huge, but it's good enough. I keep it on 60-100 brightness, using lux to adjust it as needed. No burn in so far

Extreme slow unlock with low screen light

Hi
When I adjust the screen light to half or lower it affect the time it takes to unlock the phone.
If I set it to about 20% it can take up to 3 sec. to unlock.
At 100% it unlocks immediately.
When set to auto adjust light according to surroundings the phone unlocks quickly below a lamp and extreme slowly in darkness.
During slow unlock the animation showing the icons in the dock area are shown in verical lines.

Looks like a hardware issue to me. Probably it's a sign to upgrade..
