Try Magisk, it worked on lineageOS.
Try changing your SELinux to Permissive.... If already permissive, change to enforcing - I get those confused, but that's always the reason it doesn't work for me.

Can't seem to get the v4a driver to install correctly. Followed a few different tutorials for installing on marshmallow but none have worked. I have the latest busybox installed and SE Linux set to permissive. Any help or advice is appreciated. Running PureNexus 05/06 build.

Interesting this is the first I've heard of this mod, looks great I will try it out for sure.
I had the same problem.
You have to first install the v4a for systemlessroot v3 (final), and after that, install the latest v4a apk and
simply install that one and install the driver. by doing so it will stick, also after a reboot
The second post is what I use as well. You don't even have to worry about installing the driver since it's ready to go after flashing.

I wonder would this still work on the 3rd N preview?
The A.R.I.S.E Sound System (silly name, I know) actually has a version specifically for N. I've been using it and it works great.

Which post are you referring to here?
Set selinux to permissive (download the apk after googling), open file explorer, go to system/vendor/etc and rename the folder audio_effects.conf to audio_effects.conf.bak and save. exit es explorer and reboot, go to viper and check drivers, it should now say neon enabled. worked for me!

The V4A in the Nexus 6 thread works on both Permissive and Enforcing. The driver is also installed already upon flashing the zip. Ready to go from the start. [emoji14]

I'm running the Sony Beats V4A one. Dolby/Atmos aren't needed when you have ViPER. It's just another app/equalizer, but both work good together. Dolby(I believe it was) has this nice feature called ' Volume Leveler ' or something. It made everything loud at the lowest level.

The first builds of Lineage are out for the shamu finally!
download.lineageos.org
How do I get rid of the ugly watermark across my screen?
The link to the nightly version doesn't work
Link to nightly worked fine for me. Haven't flashed yet, but it downloaded, albeit slowly.
https://download.lineageos.org/shamu
How to remove this cm to lineage migration build background ?
People who have the watermark did you flash the nighly or experimental?
From my understanding the experimental build is only used for migration from CM and will have that watermark no matter what, the nightly build should have no water mark. I believe they posted this info on their site.
You're supposed to flash nightly over experimental. Just read the instructions...

can confirm - no watermark at nightly building!
Strange how everytime I try to download the nightly it fails. No matter what browser I use
first run with lineage - every thing works fine!
Does anyone know, how I can get SElinux "enforcing"? - other kernel? whichone? - need it for using Viper4Android

You mean permissive, but you can use stock kernel enforced, a bit tricky, you need to root with supersu, latest beta sr3 runs fine. Superuser from los page doesn't recognize viper4a for root at all. I flashed latest arise and supersu, reboot, viper4a still not recognized for root, uninstall viper4a driver, supersu recognize viper4a now, confirm it. Reboot to recovery and reflash latest arise. Now it's working.
If you want Dolby too you have to use blackbird kernel and stay permissive.

Thanks for advice!!
And yes of course - sorry - I mean "permissive"
I flashed "Viper4Android_Cleaner_v1_3_Android_7x.zip" and than "ViPER4Android_2.5.0.5_guitardedhero.zip"
... and it works without any trouble ...

Good, if it works that easy, but there was something about the cleaner, don't remember right now exactly, but it breaks something. May it was dolby.
Edit: using the cleaner always kills cast connection, that's why I didn't use it anymore

Kernel Adiutor Mod should let you toggle that (requires root) under the Misc Controls tab. I would imagine the ad-filled subpar original Kernel Adiutor from the Play Store would too but I wouldn't recommend using that.
Is there an updater built in or do we flash all updates? Reading in other threads that ppl get a update notification when a new build is available. I'm on experimental cuz the nightly link didn't work when I tried last night

I've installed V4A on my phone a week ago, testing about an hour and uninstalled again. Because i love audio wizard sound settings, the sound much better than V4A on my phone (ze552kl).
You must change selinux to permissions if you want to install V4A driver, and if V4A won't work on your device, just uninstall audiowizard and audiowizardservice. made a backup first, of course.

Are you ever trying to install Viper on nougat? U get failed? What reason about your statement? Are u read my post carefully?
I'm good (success) to using viper on my nougat, if u cant installing viper driver, just install selinux mode changer and set it to permission, and dont forget to uninstall audiowizard.apk and audiowizardservice.apk if u get no processing problem.

Anybody know how I can flash the Dolby atmos app for this phone? The speaker sound is too squeaky on custom roms( right now on resurrection remix)
I already tried using Magisk, but the app(created by yash98) would not open.

I've been using the LePro module + V4A FX module for some time. It broke once though (Dolby didn't open for some reason just like you described, SELinux changed to Enforcing so V4A broke) and the only thing that fixed it was a clean install of the ROM.

Just some advice: I think the best rom is NucleaROM, but it was where I had the problem. Also don't try to install Pure Nexus, don't know if it's fixed but it bricked your phone horribly
Can anyone suggest a working audio mod for the latest stock update ..I tried magisk ..it didn't work ..if there is any mod working ..please provide the link
Thanks
Honestly this is the main reason to understand my "love and hate" relationship with the stock rom. It's great, in terms of performance is even better than any custom rom i've used, but i tried every single method to get ViperFX working here, and i couldn't, always shows 'Processing: no' in driver status.
Regarding to your question Dolby Atmos is working. but i personally think that it's nothing compared to ViperFX.

Yes, sure. I always tried using The SElinux Toggler. But it didn't make any difference, it only happens to me on stock rom, in other roms i just use the ViperFX Magisk Module and works perfectly.
