Can't seem to get the v4a driver to install correctly. Followed a few different tutorials for installing on marshmallow but none have worked. I have the latest busybox installed and SE Linux set to permissive. Any help or advice is appreciated. Running PureNexus 05/06 build.

Interesting this is the first I've heard of this mod, looks great I will try it out for sure.
I had the same problem.
You have to first install the v4a for systemlessroot v3 (final), and after that, install the latest v4a apk and
simply install that one and install the driver. by doing so it will stick, also after a reboot
The second post is what I use as well. You don't even have to worry about installing the driver since it's ready to go after flashing.

I wonder would this still work on the 3rd N preview?
The A.R.I.S.E Sound System (silly name, I know) actually has a version specifically for N. I've been using it and it works great.

Set selinux to permissive (download the apk after googling), open file explorer, go to system/vendor/etc and rename the folder audio_effects.conf to audio_effects.conf.bak and save. exit es explorer and reboot, go to viper and check drivers, it should now say neon enabled. worked for me!

I'm running the Sony Beats V4A one. Dolby/Atmos aren't needed when you have ViPER. It's just another app/equalizer, but both work good together. Dolby(I believe it was) has this nice feature called ' Volume Leveler ' or something. It made everything loud at the lowest level.

I've tried to install Viper4Android on my Nexus 6P running PureNexus Project ROM. Installing the apk, changing SELinuxModeChanger to Permissive, installing Busybox. But the drivers just won't install and said that either Busybox is not properly installed or the device isn't rooted properly. Please help me!!!
You should try installing a different version of busybox. Viper4Android doesn't like all of them the same.

V4A
Hi
Install v4a then when it asks you to update drivers do so. Reboot then use a file explorer to go to system/vendor/etc and then rename the audio_effects.conf to audio_effects.conf.bak and save. exit the file explorer and reboot. If you got to V4A now and check drivers they should have updated.

Have you got root checker, is your phone rooted and running TWRP?
Mine is running PN and V4A works like a dream, like you say I had to set permissive settings but didnt install busybox?
I just flashed 2.4.0.1 and changed the file to .bak and was all good?
If you struggle and dont mind flashing roms Benzo has this pre installed. (Although the newest rom this week hasnt go V4A included).
Dont know what else to say?

Any opinions on the new i guess A.R.I.S.E. Viper Mod? I just flashed the june build and i usually use the viper/beats version but this seems pretty intriging. I'm assuming its a different version of some type? I use the basic profile so this gets a bit technical for me lol

And this.
I prefer running using Magisk v6 with the viper4 addon but Numbers is excellent as well, just waiting for WETA to support Magisk a little more cleanly before I head back to it. But if you don't use Android Pay or similar or for some other reason care about Magisk then WETA will get you up and running REALLY quickly with a great Nougat build. And it works fine with Magisk to a great extent, just a couple minor picayunes that I'm hoping will go away with time.:good:
Arise is basically Viper with Dolby Atmos. Tbh Viper is too much for me, as long as Dolby is working on stock N that has enough of an effect ,'m good to go But if you look back in the Arise thread, maybe back a week or so, i made a post saying that I finally got Viper/Dolby including SPEAKER See Speaker was something I was struggling to get to work on stock N with things like Spotify, play music, YouTube, even notifications, and some other things... basically every sound that comes out of the speakers except phone calls, unless it was via Bluetooth. Bluetooth was working overall, headphones were working overall and I even somehow found out locally stored music was working with speaker, but not those other things I had previously mentioned, was so weird. And of course it made it even more confusing bec some N users were saying it was fully working and others were in my situation.
That was until I found a post by user @SixFourSix he said to add/edit this certain file in system/etc . I went ahead and did that and after weeks of struggling, I had finally figured it out thanks to his tip. Everything was working with Viper and Atmos, those things I mentioned, except for one thing, phone calls, with Bluetooth I'm pretty sure it has an effect, but anything else with calls, for some reason, no. Don't know why. And I hadn't seen anyone comment on why. Maybe Arise isn't supposed to do that.
Yeah so go back to my posts in the Arise thread if you'd like, you'll see exactly what I mean.
Good luck

I tried the zip from the magisk modules thread but it's asking me to install drivers at launch (which I didn't). Also tried selinux to permissive and force v4a, but didn't get it to process the audio. I also freezed music fx, but still wasn't getting anything.
I was running a song from SoundCloud to see if v4a was working

Just like the title says, which Nexus 6P ROMs include viper4android? I have had to much trouble trying to install it on to many different ROMs already, so I'm done with that.
So far I know Dirty Unicorns has a zip they reference and V4a works fine using the zip. Which other ROMs have you used which include Viper4Android or have a stupid easy way to install it? thank you very much!

No. If you want it built into the WETA ROM, then just install it. If you want to try an older version of V4A, then I'd recommend 2.5.0.5. With V4A, you also have to take a few steps to ensure you're permissive (at least in my case) and you do a few other things.
are you sure to installed it correctly? you know its different for the nexus 6p right? you gotta delete the audio effect.conf file after you install the driver

I've installed V4A on my phone a week ago, testing about an hour and uninstalled again. Because i love audio wizard sound settings, the sound much better than V4A on my phone (ze552kl).
You must change selinux to permissions if you want to install V4A driver, and if V4A won't work on your device, just uninstall audiowizard and audiowizardservice. made a backup first, of course.

Hi everybody,
I want to show you how to install Viper4android on your phone running developer preview 3 or later with Android O.
IM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS TO YOUR PHONE!!
First download the zip from Androidfilehost or from below.
Zip
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=673368273298967857
Busybox
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=961840155545578665
Extract it to any folder, you will have two files now, a Viper4android App and a flashable Viper4android zip.
Reboot into recovery and install the zip, I also recommend a custom kernel like the Jolla Kernel which already has Android O support for loudness control (for my Nexus 5X).
Boot normally install BusyBox and launch Viper4android.
Select install drivers, grant root permission and wait until it is installed.
If a IO Error occurrs don't worry it'll work anyway.
Reboot and open any file manager.
Delete the Viper4android folder in "/system/priv-app".
Delete "/system/vendor/etc/audio_effects".
Install Viper4android app you downloaded before.
Reboot once again and open Viper4android - driver are working now.
Tested on my Nexus 5X with Android 8 developer preview 3.
Leave a like if it helped.
