Hi all just hoping someone might be able to answer my question with wi-fi calling.
I'm on vodafone UK network and have wi-fi calling enabled on my phone my account and app but when I make a call I can hear them but they cannot hear me.
So I asked vodafone why no One can hear me but I can hear them and they said it's not compatible for my phone yet.
But if I have settings on my phone to give me option of turning it on and off and making a call using my internet is this a fault with the phone or there software?
WiFi calling is all software and it's all depending on service provider. T-mo USA has WiFi calling for at least 4-5 years, that I have been using it myself and had it way before any other US carrier here. Now it became almost standard feature, but since each phone is slightly different, it's up to service provider to make it work, either by tweaking software on their servers or tweaking software on the phone itself. I remember few years back WiFi calling didn't work because the carrier didn't program their servers to accept new phone model ID, just to give you an idea what trivial problems we had in past. Wait a little, they should be able to fix it, it's probably something simple.
Ok thanks for your reply i shall wait and see but not trying to be funny but big companies like vodafone had time to sort this out before they put them in shop i think as an early pre order 8days before official release people was asking about wifi calling.
So they had enough time to sort out there servers.
You can also do it over Hangouts if you have a Google phone number set up...

There is a setting in the Dialer app which you can basically "turn off" the wifi calling by telling it to prefer cellular call than Wifi. Right now it's probably set to WiFi preferred.
I have it turned off now just disappointed have the function but not been able to use it.
Almost forgot, make sure your router is set to auto update, had that happen to me once, didn't even know auto update was off, my phone got firmware update and WiFi calling was gone due to router running some old firmware, not compatible with new phone software.

hi all,
i got a very annoying "feature" in the O2 Cosmo(T-Mobile Dash). The incoming call will be blocked(heard busy tone) if the GPRS is in transmission. I was complained by many friends.
To my understanding, there's a setting in some phones to enable both GSM/GPRS concurrent connections. Is there such setting in Windows Mobile?
My ROM is 1.13.207.2, RADIO is 4.1.13.28_02.63.90
i tried to refersh its ROM, but don't know how to CID unlock. the "RUU_Excalibur_SPL-1.11_UpgradeOnly.exe" on the server has no luck for me, still "Invalid model ID".
can anythone show light on me?
thank you
reply
I think microsoft released a patch for that: i'll try find it on google for you. can you explain what configuration you used?
I think the 'patch' you need is called 3G.
I have the exact same problem and I opened a thread on it as well.
Read here.
The conclusion we reached was that this is a network, not phone dependent problem.
yeah never happent to me ever
thanks for all the replies.
My previous phone is O2 XDA Mini S(Wizard). I used that one to receive push mail provided by GoodLink, which requires GPRS always on. I didn't have such issue with that, at least no complain from my friends.
That's why i am wondering something wrong with the RADIO configuration. I didn't make any specific change to my new O2 XDA Cosmo(Excalibur).
best regards
And back to my memory.
I used to have the classical Ericsson T39. There was a setting to enable GSM incoming call during GPRS transmission(cannot remember the exact name). By enable that, i can still receive incoming call, and the GPRS connection will auto resume after the call.
Is there similar setting for Windows Mobile?
There is not as far as I've ever known. I've used smartphones that determined which was blocked and which was not based on which application was in use at the time. That is, if you were actively using IE or some other network app, phone calls would go straight to voice mail. If a non-network app was front and center at the time, the network would be disconnected and the phone would ring. That (and the SE settings mentioned above which I saw on my SE phones too) showed that it was a phone setting made by the carrier. I'd hope there's a little more intelligence behind it than just "voice trumps network" but if there is, I couldn't tell you what determines which gets through and when.
I've found that it's based on the amount of data being transmitted at the time of the (attempted) call. For example, high-bandwith usage such as media streaming will lead to the incoming phone call being blocked/diverted most of the time, whereas sporadic usage (eg. PING, or loading a very simple web page) has allowed a call to come in, temporarily disabling GPRS. GPRS can never be used during a phone call.
so i just noticed this today (i have the leaked ROM installed) that when i am using the web or checking my email if someone calls they go straight to my voice mail -- i haven't had the phone long enough to know if this is how it is supposed to be or not. Is there a way to get to cancel the data connection and show me someone is calling?

no, not really, at least not for those of us who use push email, since it maintains a constant data connection to the exchange server

well i read through that and tried what they mentioned but i couldn't get it to drop the data when a call came in.
btw, i'm on Sprint, and no EVDO where i am at so only 1x.
but as i mention in the thread
"i believe that all issues with cellphone internet blocking or being disabled when one recieve a call is purely an issue
with old and poor quality equipment of the cellphone operator in the area"
many old gsm and aparently american cellphone networks too
suffer from not being able to handle both network and calls at the same time
it's an issue in the operator end not the phones
yeah after three emails with sprint (i think most of their CS people are brain dead) they finally told me that it is how it works, no way around it.
one told me that calls go to voice mail when you don't have enough signal -- totally irrelevent to this issue
one told me it was a technical problem with my phone and said i should bring it to a sprint store to get a tech to look at it
and finally after *****ed at them sayint that people (that i assume) don't work for sprint know more about this (thanks Rudegar for your responces) then they do, they finally just came out and said that, yeah this is how it is and there isn't anyway around it.
it seems that this is a better place to get answers then emailing sprint --- although i should have realized that from the beginning, i won't make that mistake again.
well i guess your question has been answered, but figure id add my 2 cents...
it works like this only in EV-DO areas not on 1x....
my ring through works perfectly fine when a call or text comes in, it discconects allows me to do what i want, then it automatically reconnects back to data..

can you call via wifi?
but wth do you want to call via wifi?
it costs money too. and extra connection.
why will you use wifi when you can call 24/7 with your sim all day ?

i just called my house using it, im assuming it called using wifi because it skipped over "Call With Google Voice?" pop up that i set it to do everytime i call. I dont even use all my minutes so i probably wont be all over this app but atleast i have it

wifi calling costs many though?
i read on that app it just costs as much as cellulair data.
so why in earth will people use wifi calling? they can just call without wifi. its called a PLAN
I get invalid sim as well I am on vodafone and not |T-Mobile..
Maybe you could change it to work on Vodafone?
i have tmobile, maybe thats why? might have to do with the APN or something
yay this is good but the thing I see is that if you are calling it may be going to the t-mobile servers ofc if thats the case only t-mobile sims may be able to get unless we edit the apk or spoof our sim but then also im guessing the wifi calling costs so not sure how this would work xD nice though
totally non sense. how can someone call using wifi or whatever internet source you may have to any cellular or telephone number untill you don't have some service provider etc... if this wifi calling is working over the internet, what application is it using?
seems totally fake or irrelavent
This apps works because i put the phone in airplain mode and use wifi only.
If you guys having problem then maybe it your phone. But, my phone is working, be glad that you have wifi calling.
This an oct 22,2008 phone not even the iphone 3g has this feature.
I have t-mobile usa provider phone.

quite right, you think we can get a workaround?
I dont know im going to buy a new phone because i miss adobe flash content so much. I know this is out of topic but i miss my original droid before it got messed up.
G1 is nice when it was a backup phone in 2010. My main phone in 2008/2009 most of the time, until i sold my cliq. But, now i just want a phone with higher specs.
I try playing gameloft games HD/3D games that isnt working because of processor we have.
This developer now a days is coding their apps to make it work with 3.5 inches and beyond, with higher frame,Power vr ship specs.
I love my g1, but im going to buy either g2 or hd 7.
I think i speak for everyone having an phone for to long loses it power in long run.
And, wifi calling on this app only work with T-mobile sim card and wifi of course.
There is a wifi app.
it was ripped off the G2 and ported to the vibrant, so it is possible.
however its not that good.
it was taken out of most roms on the vibrant because of its buggyness/uslessness.
it drains battery pretty bad even when not running.
it uses minutes even when calling through wifi (the only purpose of the app is to get clear signal in places where there is none for tmobile customers and not to save on minutes)
Its just kinda buggy overall.
hopefully they'll release a cleaner app in the future, but for now its pointless if you get decent signal at home.
Honestly, this apps work fine to me. Im just disappointed that the developer now a days isnt supporting older device by coding the apps to higher specs phone.
Wanted to get an android phone with wifi calling capability for a friend who is currently in Iraq. My budget will not allow me to a buy a g2/mt4g, and a g1 seems like the cheapest option so this is where I began looking. So if I added an extra line on my family plan, grabbed a g1, rooted and installed this app would my friend be able to make calls as long as he has a wifi connection? Can anyone confirm this works without any access to the tmobile network?

I'm not sure about on the g1, but on other phones it works, but it still uses t-mobile minutes.
so you can be away from the t-mobile network, but you still need to have a t-mobile plan and minutes.
its basicaly for those who have horrible signal at home, but do have a wifi connection.
I'm hoping this is the right place to ask, haven't posted here before, but I'm stumped. I recently upgraded to the LG G6, it's on Bell in Canada. Loving the phone, but having one big issue. When I'm connected to WiFi, I miss calls and texts, it's not consistent but often enough that it's a problem. As soon as I disconnect from WiFi I get any delayed texts and voicemail notifications for any calls I had missed. I'm just running stock, and these are the steps I've tried so far:
-changed sim, nope
-factory reset, nope
-tried sim in another new G6, nope
-turned off VoLTE in call settings, nope
-cannot find a WiFi calling setting or would have disabled as well
-checked with Bell and LG and both say they're unaware of any related issues and advised wait for patch.
Anyone have any other suggestions that may help? I really like the phone, not a Samsung fan and I'll wait for updates if need be, but maybe it's a quick fix in the settings somewhere. *fingers crossed*
Thanks!
WiFi calling setting is in the call option inside your system settings.
Could be your WiFi/router isn't good enough to handle that.
Sounds like a port forwarding issue quite honestly. Probably a Wi-Fi router issue more than the phone issue.

I don't have a WiFi calling option in my call settings, it should be directly under the volte toggle I thought, but can't find it anywhere. And happens on multiple WiFi networks. My home network itself is getting about 50mps download speed when I run speed test on my phone on WiFi.

That's very strange that you don't have a WiFi calling option. Is WiFi calling a region specific feature as well??
If I'm not mistaken, I think it's carrier and device specific. I checked through my Bell plan and I don't see it listed as a feature, but I know the G6 supports it. But I checked everywhere and can't find anything pertaining to it. Odd.

Maybe that is the issue. Perhaps the LG Software is trying to accept calls and texts through the WiFi signal but something that your carrier has done with the blocking off WiFi calling on their end is causing the bug. I'm not too savy with the way Android and it's coding works.
VoWiFi is carrier specific feature. though LG G6 supports it , carrier can disable the feature as you bought phone from him. you can go to hidden menu (277634#*# or *#546368#*872# , here 872 is the phone model , replace it with yours) and turn off VoWiFi.
I received a new pixel 4a 5g on Friday. I have spectrum mobile and I can't get wifi calling to work. I have called spectrum twice and have gone to the local spectrum store. I have also chatted with a Google tech. No one can get it to work.
No issues with WiFi calling. Have you tried switching to airplane mode and re-eanable Wifi only? This switches on Wifi calling quickly on my 3a and 4a5g

Yes, I had this exact issue. Fix was to reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth. Hope it doesn't return, but we'll see.
Hello all,
I also have a 4a 5g phone that I've been trying like hell to get working. Started with just seeing if I could find it myself. Found something in the settings (gone now), but it said something about WiFi calling. It happened to be grayed out.
Next step was calling tech support. They could help me and they convinced me that I have to change the sim card. OK change the sim card for using wifi calling. Whatever, the sim card arrived today and I swapped it out. Now I don't have phone service and I still can't get wifi calling.
My question is where is the setting for turning wifi calling off and on? I follow these directions;
How to Enable WiFi Calling on Android 11 Stock OS
Step 1: Pull down the notification panel at the top and touch the “Settings gear (Cog)” icon.
Step 2: Touch on “Network and internet”.
Step 3: Touch “Mobile network”.
Step 4: Scroll down and touch on “Advanced”.
Step 5: Tap on “Wi-Fi calling” in the calling section.
I follow the steps and it states my wifi calling is on. Yet when I call, it's is calling tech support. I've spent way too much time with dodgy tech support. Not sure what I can try at this point. Fortunately I have other telephone options, but not my main.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry for the confusion here. and thanks for the reply. OK it shows that my wifi calling is on, I don't have any phone service at the moment. Regardless of what number I call, it goes to the step through for getting to different options, like activate phone, change number, and so on. It seems like I have to turn off the phone connection to get wifi calling to step in. BTW, this SafeNet which I think they use Tracpone.
EDIT: My service is not SafeNet, nor SafeLink, but is Net10 on Tracpone. Not for long though.
You're welcome.
BTW: On my 3a I had to restart the phone from time to time. Perhaps this helps in your case.
Double check with your provider that WiFi is switched on for your account.
Yeah I reboot several times through all this. Just did now too. I did see an option to preference wifi calling over phone service. I did that and still it goes to stepping through to options in the phone service when I try to make a call.
You could try switching to airplane mode and then enable wifi only. Keep airplane mode, don't switch it off. Try calling then. This forces Wifi calling.
Finally got the option and my phone working. You are not going to believe what the problem was. It ended up that the service, BTW the service is Net10 Wireless, anyways they had the old sim card number on my account and they were using the the old number! The directions on the new sim card sent, stated to put the new card in the phone and call the number provided, which I did. I gave them the new sim card number and I assumed everyone was working with the new sim card. After well over 6 hrs with "tech support", some with a roster clearly calling out in the background. At the end I was demanding upper management right when I contacted someone. Finally had this tech support go through all the records and she figured out the sim card number was screwed up with the parties.
I'm pissed, it shouldn't take over 6 hrs and 2 days to get this resolved. I pointed out that this was the stupidity of "tech support" that caused practically this whole delay and I would say this people started the whole thing! I called up to get wifi calling up and running. The "tech support" stated that I need a new sim card. Which was the start of this mess. More than 23 calls to them regarding this!
In the end, I put the old sim card in and everything works! Even wifi calling works!
Great!
Looks as if I was close when I wrote:

Sure would like to learn and know how and why the sim card plays a roll when you are trying to get wifi calling working. In my simple world, it's a working unlocked phone, a wifi connection, and the software on your phone to get this working.
Holly crap! Been using wifi calling successfully for the last day. OK so now I want to go back to regular phone service with phone providers. And you would think you could follow the steps at #7 and stumble your way to getting regular phone service, right. Nope, following the steps laid out will not do the trick. Now I got to figure out how to do it.
Any help on this? The Mobile Network option in Network & Internet is grayed out. Also the + sign does nothing. Turning off Wi-Fi does nothing to.
(Hoping the Hotspot & tethering is easier than wifi calling. I'll be in trouble if it's not.)
i don't have wifi calling on this phone but do on my note 10 plus,is it just in usa?

All I had to do was enabling Wifi-Calling in my phone and call the phone company to enable Wifi-Calling.
As soon as I am out of reach of my Wifi, it switches automatically to GSM or LTE (my contract does not provide me with 5G).
In other words: No need to change any settings.
Same if I disable Wifi manually. The phone shows LTE the same second.
