How do the speakers compare to those of the Note 2? I'm discussing in terms of both loudness and audio quality. Are there distortions at maximum volume? Is the quality comparable to the top HTC phones?
The Note 3 had some pretty lackluster speakers, and they were a downgrade compared to those of the Note 2.
On that note, will the DAC for the Qualcomm version be their integrated sound solution and the Wolfson DAC again for the Exynos versions?
Of course you know not a single one of these has been sold yet, so how can you ask a question like this?
If it's like S5 it will be louder than my z2. Let's wait and see.
I hope it's at least as good as the Note 2. I felt like the Note 3 speaker was a downgrade in the loudness department.
In that Russian review they stated the Note 4 speaker was louder then the Note 3 one.

I just checked out the Note 4 at a local Best Buy and I'm happy with everything, but the speaker.
It is indeed louder than the Note 3's, but not by much. It has great highs, but the midrange is tinny sounding and nowhere as full or as loud as my LG G3's speaker. I rely heavily on the speakerphone so this was a disappointment, but I'll buy the phone anyways.
Hello,Increase the volume in the mixer path.xml but how? Headphone volume does not go. too quiet. please help me My Phone is rootet and a Galaxy A5 (2016).
friendly greetings to everyone
Hi there,
I will move your thread in the correct forum dedicated to Samsung Galaxy A5 for more relevant answers.
Good luck
I don't think this can be done. You might wanna look for a portable headphone amp, or headphones with lower impedance (ohm).
Hi, thanks for the reply. Earphones with 16 ohms, I already have. But maybe I can get it to increase the volume in the system. best regards. Sorry my English is not good
I have the Samsung Phone Info app but can't see what the DAC is. Usually Samsung use Wolfson. Anyone with more info ? I'll test with high res music tomorrow to assess against Axon 7.

What about the Exynos bootloader? Can it be unlocked? People care more about that, I think, if you want to start a popular thread!

The S8 is shipped with AKG headphones worth $99. I think audio is now a area Samsung is looking to improve.

Just found this site selling the "official headphones" £29.99

I'm on XDA for many years and I care about all aspects as do others. The Axon 7 is the benchmark for audio as the LG V20 and G6. These flagship devices are designed for great audio, as was the HTC M10.

Cirrus CS47L92
The audio chip is Cirrus logic CS47L92 , not reviewed yet, but check old S7 explanation : http://www.chipworks.com/about-chip...axy-s7-snapdragon-chipsets-vs-exynos-chipsets
So far, coming from my UK S5 which I think has a Wolfson DAC, my exynos S8 sounds very flat. i dont like it at all. im using the same SE530's as I was on the S5 but the sound is just flat, not sure how else i can describe it. the bass seems to be lacking as well. If they have just used some iteration of the cirrus logic crap that was in the S7 that everyone complains about then its no wonder this thing sounds terrible.

Wolfson belongs to Cirrus since 2014, for more spec, you can ask the guy : http://www.businesswire.com/news/ho...Cirrus-Logic’s-Power-Smart-Codec-Hi-Fi-Stereo
The chip should look like "near" this : https://www.cirrus.com/images/product_diagrams/cs47L90blkdiag-dd0c0e040d.svg

Kinda irrelevant then. What was seemingly a very good Wolfson dac in the s5 became a crap cirrus dac by the s7 and sounds like it has continued in the s8 from what mine sounds like vs my s5.

Maybe there are a plethora of noise "retro"-cancellation/protection (?) that should be shut down for indoor heavy loud natural HiFi ?

I agree, the bass instruments don't sound involving and your use of the description of "flat " is right. My benchmark is the ZTE Axon 7.

Quite relieved to read that mate. Any sources tho?
Are there any websites that actually do compare smartphone audio performance for earphones/bluetooth. headsets?

Numerous people on Head Fi, headphone amp readings from GSMArena and PhoneArena, comments on Reddit. No one was a fan of the 6P audio.
Disappointing to read about poor audio on the S8. I had an S7 which was great apart from the audio over headphones. Even tweaking the audio settings it was still really poor. I currently have a Xiaomi Redmi note 4 (MTK) and headphone audio is excellent and really enjoyable. It's also a pity that the European LG G6 skimps out on the better audio DAC as well.

Hey...
I am an audiophile. I used Nexus 6p for one and half years. It wasn't bad.... In fact I rooted and it sounded awesome. Then I switched to MiA1. It has a great DAC. The best one. Used LG v30. Didn't like it. Now I am on Samsung Note 8 (Exynos version). It's bad. Worst infact. I regret spending 950 bucks on this.
hey for those who have the phone
how us the 3.5 mm jack performance compired to the galaxy note 5 for example or the iphone7 ?

Pocketnow did a great video about this , they say that the audio is really really good , here's the link :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5hwdcHUFP9Y :victory:
It is very upsetting that the sound quality on this phone is not even close to the rich sound found on the Samsung S4 made 3 years before.
Is there anyway I can upgrade the sound chip on this phone? I mostly listen to Music on Youtube, Soundcloud and other streams.
for having the s4 also, I find the g6 much better, either via headphones or via the speaker (which is really good for a mono positioned on one side)
I selected the equalizer "QuadBeat", the sound is rich and detailed, yet my model is the h870, it does not have the quad DAC but the quality is superb
Sent from my LG G6 using XDA Labs
What? You are comparing Galaxy S4 and G6? ? H870 (without quad DAC) have pretty solid DAC and AMP, and detailed test showed that even the Galaxy S8 Exynos haven't better audio chip than G6 H870 with standard DAC. Bottom firing speaker is also crispy and very detailed. Galaxy S4, oh man please don't...
