As the title states, my phone is having issues with Samsung Pay and the Gear S3. Something about not working with rooted phones, but I'm on stock everything. Even passed SafetyNet check. My Axon 7 current Android version is 7.1.1, build A2017UV1.1.0B19. I reinstalled the Gear and SPay app, reset and restore the watch, etc. I don't think the issue is with the watches, because both of them shows the same result and SPay worked before. Started around the time after 7.1.1 update and around the time with the Play-store problems started to occur. So beginning of April? Anyone know how to resolve this?
Working great here

You have to have a Samsung gear for Samsung pay to work on axon 7?

How did you make it work?
Did you unlock the bootloader? Not really sure if this is the trigger.
I'm on the same boat. Using B19 non-rooted Bad Boyz as well as stock 7.1.1 with the same result.. My bootloader is unlocked. It was OK (even rooted back then) until the last new update in April that forced me to give up root but still no go.. Looking forward to see if anyone has a solution.

What's with the question mark? Are you asking or telling me this? Yes I do have a Samsung Gear, hence why have issues in the first place.

Isn't the bootloader already unlocked from the factory? My phone is full stock, no rooting or anything.

The phone is SIM unlocked by factory default. The bootloader, on the other hand, is NOT the same thing and it is locked by default. Based on your answer it seems that you did not unlock the bootloader which is even more puzzling why Samsung Pay is not working..

I know the phone is unlocked. But I thought the boot loader was also unlocked from the get go.
I'm having the same problem. Samsung pay works great. I use it every day, but I cant open Samsung pay from the gear app on my phone. This started after Samsung updated Spay in the gear app. Spay in the gear app never had Samsung rewards or promos in the previous version of the app, but you can see they are now part of the app when you open and get the rooted warning. The icons are below the popup.
I have the exact same problem. I called Samsung Pay, and they opened a support case for me, but no response from them. Do you think ZTE could help us out here?
All this started happening after the Samsung Pay update. I am completely on stock, not rooted, bootloader locked.
I called Samsung Pay and they wouldn't start a trouble ticket. They kept insisting that the problem was ZTE's. I called ZTE about a week ago and they started a ticket and escalated it to their tech team. They said someone would get back to me but it hasn't happened yet.

I will do the same thing to both of them...Good luck both of us ...
FYI, after the most recent "Value Pack" update for my Gear S3 frontier, Samsung Pay has started to work again on my US ZTE Axon 7! Looks like Samsung heard us!
If you haven't updated your Gear S3 (and the Samsung Pay app on it), I would highly recommend doing so right now!

It was working great for me (using the old 1.2.5202 apk) on my rooted B25 until I updated the "Value Pack" The new "Value Pack" update seems to recognize the old version of Samsung Pay and would not go further until I update the latest Samsung Pay on the phone of which deems unusable after detecting root. Would appreciate if anyone knows how to resolve this issue. So used to using Samsung Pay...

I wouldn't recommend flashing the full TAR. If you'd like a guarantee to get back, I'll be making separate flashables.
for example i'll just rip apart the tar and make an odin flashable of everything except the bootloader.

Like many rooted users that are contemplating returning the S7 due to locked bootloader, they, like you, retain a flashable rooted device.
I think Samsung just ruined a good thing for this community. I had hoped for a rooted Note 6 one day soon, but losing all hope. Samsung says the carriers wanted locked bootloaders. Sprint and T-Mobile deny that claim. They should get a room and work that out!

What Samsung has done in the past with kernels and recovery is child's play compared to the locked bootloader. It would take a vulnerability exploit or a signed key unlocked bootloader to root that unless Samsung reverses its position. They just don't own mistakes that way. Even if it's a path to destruction, Samsung will march on like a soldier.
I personally think they've come to a place where they can willingly accept the loss of a few that can't do without root. Sad; Sprint and T-Mobile claim Samsung did this. Samsung claims all carriers in US wanted locked bootloaders.

Just for what it's worth, my moto DX2 was rootable via an exploit of charging mode however to this day the bootloader remains locked down. A locked bootloader is no joke.
Also flashed the PC1 baseband via odin have to say it looks like my connectivity had improved markedly.

I could careless about the bootloader if they get root though. Which they have done before. Root but locked bootloader...I don't really modify much other then remove some stupid bloat and add in xposed for Amplify+Greenify. I can live without those things. I'd just like to be able to ditch the bloatware.

I've been out of the game for a while and now I feel all stupid and ****. I've been searching the forums to root the new s7 we got last night but all I'm seeing is it must be on PE1. I haven't found anything about rooting a PK1. Can it be done? Have I just overlooked it? I tried to root using SM-G930P Root - Updated 10/25/2016 but I can't get the downloads to work. Every time I click the the blue download button, I get stuck in a spam/ads pop up loop. So I gave up and went looking for more info on rooting the PK1. Thanks guys!
I am also looking for this information as I recently purchased this model. The forums seem to suggest that you need to begin on the PE1 firmware, but information is unclear on whether a downgrade is possible.

You can downgrade to PJ2 but nothing before that. PJ2 is rootable, however you will lose voice and SMS.

Well that would make for a pretty useless smartphone...
I haven't yet put a SIM card in in it. I assume that doesn't make a difference? I saw the below, but wasn't sure if you could avoid the phone and text issue by not putting the SIM card in for the first time until AFTER it's rooted:

Someone who has solved?
can't downgrade firmware
I've been trying to root this phone (SM-G930P) for about 2 months now. Unfortunately I accepted an ota to what I believe was the PJ2 firmware shortly after getting it. Now I'm on PK1. I tried multiple times to downgrade to PE1 without any success. I believe it's a bootloader issue. I've successfully rooted the g935a for a coworker without a problem and was hoping this one could be rooted using the same method just flashing a different Eng Boot image of course. But samsung is not providing us a way to unlock the boatloader, which is basically like selling someone a car with the hood locked and even though they now own it legally, telling them they're not allowed to modify or even touch the engine.
Guess I'll just have to wait until someone finds a working method or I get fed up and switch to a Google or HTC device...

Most roots released for the devices are "sboots" and are not meant to be used daily..
many roots for these devices are for unlocking/frp removal uses

Depending on what firmware you're on, it's a stable root. If you're on bootloader 3 and on APE 1 then it's fine, but bootloader 4 is difficult to root and not have issues. When rooting you obviously lose access to apps that don't allow rooted devices to use it such as snapchat, pokemon go, samsung pay, etc, etc.....

I am right there with you !!!! I have been working so hard to try to figure out why after the flash of their Engineering Boot file, that my mobile data network options disapear and i cannot get on a mobile network. Ive even paid for the app to unlock the device and it still will not let me turn it on. The options are completely gone. If anyone has any idea why this is happening or how to fix it, please let me know! I am still waiting for idoneapps to respond to this issue.

I think I saw link to engineering software in another forum and if that is right, there is a good chance we will have root, however it took quiet few months from the time engineering software was found, to getting the root on s8. Either we learned from S8 and will have root soon, or things changed again and we'll need to wait few months. I'm taking bets now.

Kind of related to root. I was going to install BK package disabler, and when running it you have to agree to SE auto update nonsense from Knox. Sounded like it might interfere with root in the future, am I off base with this? Still on the fence with rooting this, but if it becomes available, I at least want to have the option.
Oh I'm definitely need this beast rooted and cleaned up and given a makeover but it's not horrible without and I've rooted every device I've owned since the g1 dropped within hours of getting it lol this is going on what 13 days...... NEED ROOT lol

I think it's a matter of getting raw firmware. HTC used to make the firmware public. Once the firmware was available we were able to start breaking code.

alright. so i want to say i went this route as well. i have 3 months left on my sprint contract.that being said, i have the files he used during the unlocking process. the problem is there is another thing he did to actually unlock it. he used something called flexihub while it was in the combination firmware to actually do something on his machine that i couldnt see. this is something he did on the modem level, but i confirmed with him that it doesnt matter if i flash another firmware using odin, my sim will still be unlocked. i have tried this with verizon sim and it works. again, my contract is not up with sprint yet, which means my device shouldnt be unlocked, but this somehow works. if anyone else wants this, here is the ebay seller link that i got mine done within an hour. keep in mind that you have to back up your device, because what he does is flash firmware. also he will need access to your computer to work remotely, but he never strayed from what he was doing. for 7 bucks, this is a steal.

I was getting amazing battery life and great SOT but I was forced to download Android 11 by force update and now my SOT has gone down almost 2.5 hours from when it was previously running on Android 10. I despise having to deal with these issues even though its a used phone. On the SamMobile website I found the correct PDA G975U1UES5GUD1 but I can't find the CSC code on my phone and I am afraid I will flash the wrong firmware and damage the phone.
How can I Find the CSC code on my phone? The device is been used on Verizon prepaid via Red Pocket Mobile and its Factory GSM and CDMA unlocked. I would really appreciate any help I can get with this.
Thank you so much in advance.
Hello there, you are talking about the consumer software customization code right?

If you are you can find it by dialing *#1234# on the dial app. But i think it is VZW since you've said the carrier is Verizon.

Seems like this is it since your carrier is Verizon. You are residing in the US, right?

You won't damage your phone if they mismatch, probably only carrier settings would break
But the link I gave according to that you are having Verizon as the carrier and you are living in the US when you got force OTA update then it’ll match.
That's if you can go back.
Doesn't 11 update the boot loader version too?
Well yeah now that you mention it probably.
Hmm, but there should be a way of degrading the software even so.

If he uses Odin he can downgrade fine enough,
Unfortunately, I think he'll lose his data though.
I haven't downgraded from One UI 3.0 before since I only got a A21s.

I'm still running Pie. It's what I've been seeing here about the 11 update updating the boot loader too. Maybe that's OTA upgrades only.
Not a concern of mine though.
Data loss is a given... at least be prepared for it.
Yeah, I agree since I'm still running 10 Idk really about bootloader changes from 10-11.
But if that's the case then Its probably impossible to downgrade without getting a bricked phone.
Doublecheck the bootloader version code of both versions of android so you don't brick your phone.
This is starting to sound too risky I do appreciate everyones help on this post honestly but at this point I am not going to risk messing up a $330 phone. But thank you all for making things clear.

Well, you can wait for the fix then. Maybe Samsung will release a fix to solve that issue

Yeah hopefully thank you for your help tho. Appreciate it.
No problem, but if the kernel hasn't changed the ROM can be downgraded. If it has you can just take it to Samsung and ask them to downgrade for you.
My friend did that.
