Hello guys, i have a few question that i would like to ask.
My boss is considering S8 as his new phone and he need to know about device security.
1.If you encrypt device how tough it is for police to open it?
No criminal activity done but police is part of the fight between companies. And it is the cheapest fighting method.
2.Is it possible to wire the phone without hardware mod?
Like for example using some sort of wireless method or wireless activation of cam or microphone?
3.If i turn on wipe device after 10 bad password attempts is it wiped completely without any possible way of recovery?
There will be no SD card used. Only internal memory.
4.What is safer? S8 or iPhone 7 Plus
5.Can there be software sent and installed to phone without user interaction?
Thank you so much for your answers.

I bought this phone just a week ago and my computer does not recognize it when connected using the USB cable that came in the package. When I move the cable a little bit, it gets recognized sometimes. I suspect there's a problem with either the cable or the phone's port. I want to upgrade its ROM to the newer version announced by HTC a few days ago. Is it possible to flash ROM via an SD card?
Not the answer to your specific question, but on the subject of your PC not talking to the Mini, your PC isn't running Vista by any chance? I had to update the Windows Mobile Device Center from the MS web site before my two would talk to each other.
I went to an HTC care center today and they replaced the defective data cable. My computer detects my phone now. I'm happy with the service they gave.
I'm not going to buy any HTC product ever again. After having spent Rs.18900/- (this is definitely a big amount for a middle class Indian citizen like me) for a phone, it is NOT ACCEPTABLE to find a defective data cable in the package.
As far as flashing ROM from a SD card is concerned, I'm still curious. Can someone please tell me what to rename RUU_signed.nbh as? Also, how to enter the manual boot loader mode?

I lost the headphone, and I hardly found a place to buy a new one. I paid $ 40 for the new headphone. You are right, meet too, I will never buy another product of htc, very expensive. Even, I wrote to the company and they replied to me but they don't do anything because they know that customers are stupid.
Hello guys and girls, im wondering if there is anyone in the know of what i want to try and attempt. Firstly, i have an old Galaxy S4 i9505, it was my old contract mobile which was put in a draw and forgot about as the LCD smashed and i upgraded anyway. I recently went out and purchased an Amazon firestick for the sole use of KODI, and it works fine (i would like to auto boot straight to KODI or even do away with the amazon operating system all together but ill save that for a future post). My questions are..
1. I have currently got the S4 with the smashed screen rooted, on a custom Rom, (OMEGA v21.1) usb debugging enabled and with a nifty program called Vysor i can connect it to my laptop and browse through the phone and add/remove install what i like. I obviously need usb debugging enabled to see the phone through my laptop but cant see how i could install another rom without seeing the custom recovery on my pc (as it only lets me see and use the phone when its fully booted up) Id like to use this phone purely as a media device linked to my TV with an MHL v2.0 adapter (which i have and works fine with an exception).
So first question, is there anyway of installing a Tablet type rom onto this phone without seeing the recovery menu (doing it blind is out of the question as the touch is also broke) but the rom i install (preferably with gaaps with it) as i need no function of a mobile whatsoever, only wifi and bluetooth i guess, but id need it to have usb debugging automatically enabled or enabled in the rom i flash as id have no way to access the phone because of the screen. any help on this would be a great help.
Now onto my second question..
2. While MHL works fine and i can use KODI ok from my S4, there is a massive problem i need to overcome, the battery drains faster than the charge gives, my understanding is that while the S4 is connected to an MHL lead it will only draw 500ma of power as its recognised as an USB device. So my thoughts are: as a fully charged LI ION battery on the S4 is around 4.3 volts with amp drawing what the phone needs (actual phone rated at 3.8v so at a guess a supply of 3.3v-4.3v is perfectly fine, im wondering if a voltage drop device (from 5v to 3.8) soldered straight onto the battery pins on the phone would keep the phone going without any type of drain, as in it would power the phone inevetably while runnin kodi or whatever else i decide to run on it, ive scoured the net for info on my project but cant seem to get any info about it. i really appreciate any help whatsoever as im quite stuck at the moment. Thanks.

1. I still don't understand why you want to flash a different rom. What will be the difference? There is to much risk imo. You will need a rom with usb debugging enabled by default and rsa security set off. Why not just find a different launcher that will suite your needs? But if you still want then make sure you have TWRP on your phone and use something to control TWRP from the playstore.
2. You need to find a kernel that supports usb fast charge. That will boost your charging to around 1000ma.
help
First thanks for the reply Lennyz1988, the only reason I wanted another rom flashed was is im in no way going to be using it as a phone, so would rather have a rom that is very light and very light on battery (as in background proceses). As for a custom kernel would that have to be also flashed through recovery ? As I've not flashed custom kernels im not sure on how to go about it, will any custom kernel work ? Sorry for the questions but is there any chance you can point.me in the direction of 1 I'd need ? Thanks.
Hi guys!
Created an account so I could ask everyone for some help with my NEXUS 4. A part of the screen has been unresponsive since this morning because of that I am unable to unlock the phone using pattern. I have been meaning to buy a new phone but I need the photos and videos to be recovered from the current one.
When I plug the phone onto my PC using the USB cable, the phone shows up as a portable device instead of NEXUS 4 storage which leads me to believe the either the USB debugging is off OR the phone needs to be unlocked for it to show up as a storage. Therefore, I am also unable to recover the data that way. I have contacted google regarding this they put me through to LG and neither of them was able to help me with this situation.
So, Is there any other way I am able to recover the data from the phone? Please let me know and thank you all so much in advance.
what windows system ?
If 8 or plus, maybe using a windows 7 desktop
Ok, so I'm trying to get my nokia 6.1 plus that I just got (and am happy with) to run adaptive storage.
I just read about android one phones running File Based Encryption and this screwing around with that, so my question is slightly more broad, but:
Since the 6.1 plus is a new international phone, it will get Pie, right? Since the android one site says 9.0 and up it's fine, but there's some delays on it.
Second, is the FBE thing the reason why, after installing the drivers, setting the phone to debug mode and FTP for the USB Cable, the ADB on my computer still won't detect it? The computer's still reading the phone as a disc but also a separate "entity" with the phone's name and there I can access the phone's storage?
My first concern was for the Adaptive storage option, but if it will actually be avaliable on the actual device without needing to ADB it?
Or is it worth it to get the OEM unlock and just root the thing with x6 or something? I honestly just want the adaptive storage option, and I can live without it for now, but eventually would like it.
Sorry for the series of questions, just trying to make sense of the situation.
Colleagues, please tell me what could be the problem?
It is given: Nokia 5 (model TA-1053), pure Android 8.1.0 with all the latest updates (did not change anything, the bootloader is blocked, the phone passed Google certification, the phone passes the engineering test - everything works fine). Everything was as it was when buying a phone in the official store.
There is a MasterCard Debit bank card that works with Google Pay.
The latest version of Google Pay is approved, the card has been successfully added to it.
NFC is enabled on the phone.
Absolutely nothing happens when you bring the phone to the terminal. The position of the phone in relation to the terminal and the time spent by two devices next to it changed.
To check, I installed a program for reading the information of a simulated card - "NFCSmartCardReader" on a Nexus 7 tablet (also contains an NFC chip). No reaction when combining the phone and tablet.
But! I installed a program for reading NFC tags "Checking NFC" both on the phone and on the tablet - it turns out to exchange tags in one way or the other.
It also turns out to send, for example, photo / video / audio from a tablet to a phone and vice versa from a phone to a tablet, via NFC.
But with Google Pay there is no reaction
What am I doing wrong, can someone tell me? It feels like there is some kind of security block somewhere and the phone simply does not send the card data to a terminal or card reader program request.
Thank you in advance.
colleague, in Android Beam works well?

1. Yes, of course, repeatedly transmitted and received files: photo, video, audio without problems.
2. My second phone, xiaomi mi5 works without problems with this banking terminal. In addition, I tried in various stores at terminals Verifone and Ingenico brands.
My observations and conclusions.
I also have a Xiaomi mi5 phone which works without problems with a non-contact payment with a similar bank card.
For experiment I installed a program from PlayMarket for reading NFC tags "NFC Tools" both on the Nokia 5 and on the Xiaomi Mi5. The program is running on two devices (read NFC tags).
When the phones are combined, the following happens: Nokia 5 reads the Xiaomi Mi5 tag (tag type, available technology, serial number, ATQA, SAK), but Xiaomi Mi 5 can not read the Nokia 5 tag. I understand this also happens in the bank terminal - it's can not read a tag / virtual card created on Nokia 5. For some reason, I can not understand: there is a security lock, the protocol does not match, Nokia 5 does not receive a request for the tag and accordingly does not respond in return, maybe something else.
I can not understand - this is hardware problem of Nokia 5 and it should be sent for repair, or it is a software problem of Android.
Nokia's support could not help

I do not think it's a physical problem, if so, the NFC could fail in other uses (Android Beam) since it's the same NFC antenna
What has to be a problem in android, has it restored a factory state? Do you have a bank card that has an application for wireless payments? (type BBVA Bancomer Walllet) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bbva.bbvawalletmx&hl=en_419
What can be done? Can you be a new user on the phone and do some testing?
1. The phone was reset to factory settings. Cleaned the cache and data services NFC, Google Pay, Google Play Store, BlueTooth..Without result.
2. The card is valid for use with Google Pay and contactless payments.
3. If there is a need - ready to participate in testing.
I no longer know what to do
There is a Nokia 5 phone with Android 8.1.0 with the latest updates. Google Pay is installed on it, Mastercard bank card, a bank that has the ability to work with Google Pay, has been successfully added and activated there. The problem is that the terminal and the phone can not communicate with each other. All I can see on the phone is sound and vibration, the same as when transferring files using AndroidBeam. The virtual card stored in the phone is not readable?
There is a tablet Asus Nexus 7 (2012) with Android 4.4.4. It has the Pro Credit Card Manager NFC program installed. When combining the phone and tablet, the tablet also cannot read the data of the virtual card stored in the phone. On the tablet with the sound and vibration, the same as when transferring files via AndroidBeam.
If you run Google Pay on my phone, then when you combine the tablet and phone, the phone is a suggestion to click on the screen to transfer data, and after clicking on the screen on the phone, Google Play starts with the Google Pay page open on the tablet.
1. The same bank card, added to Google Pay on another Xiaomi Mi5 phone (Android 8.0.0), is successfully virtualized and read using Pro Credit Card Manager NFC.
2. Transferring files between Nokia 5 and any other NFC device via AndroidBeam works without problems in both directions.
If it doesn't bother you and there are options for solving my problem with Nokia 5 - please write about them.
