Can anyone guide to get back Snapchat on my rooted android 7.1.1, BL Unlocked and STOCK ROM.
you need to trick safetynet check. This requires a systemless root like Magisk + a custom kernel.
Unroot, login to Snapchat, root

Are you using Magisk or just regular root? If you have normal root, just go into your su app, press on the option to fully unroot. Once it does its job and reboots, login to snap chat. Then boot into twrp and flash su and you're good to go.

Need to use Magisk 10.2 and not the latest on stock. Not sure what version of Magisk Manager, but I've heard that updated ones will break Magisk on stock.

Yeah. It should work no problem. But just in case download beastmode kernel on the Rom section. If it doesn't boot after re-rooting, flash it and it should boot.

I'll be posting up the kernel soon. It's nothing more than stock with adb root support, permissive, and root restriction removed. I'll probably update it to add init.d support and a few other things I come across, because afterall, this is just a first build to remove that annoying root restriction. I'm sure there are other things I can improve upon.
Download: BeastMode Stock 1.0 N910P OG5 **NO ROOT RESTRICTION** **Permissive**
Tested with SuperSU 2.49 BETA, but I don't see why the stable release wouldn't work too.

I'll be posting up a stock rooted ROM later on today.
But for now, you should be able to backup your current OG5 ROM with TWRP before flashing.
I'm not sure what problems people have had with TWRP not sticking, but it's stuck on my phone the first time I flashed it immediately after OG5 update.

Also the guys in Note Edge forum could use a kernel for root as well.
Thanks. I've actually found ways to get around enforcing for V4A and ADB on OB7.

Starting from scratch you need things. Odin, Chainfire auto root, TWRP, and the kernel. Boot into download mode. Flash TWRP tar. boot into twrp recovery and backup system.
Boot into download mode again. Flash chainfire autoroot. Boot into download mode again, flash TWRP recovery again.
Boot into recovery, flash beastmode zip file.
You will now be rooted on this kernel.

Kept mine stock for a few days, really enjoyed the phone in that state, but this is a nexus device, if you're not going to root it you'll miss out on a lot of mods and tweaks.
For me I hate the light theme that comes with the device, same on my previous devices.
Also some of the apps I use require root access, titanium, ad away, custom kernels, to name but a few.
Plus the custom ROMs available are really well made and I'd be missing out if I didn't try any of them..
Flexibility is gained via rooting, it gives you the choices android should offer out the box.
At least that's my opinion anyway.
I rooted because nexus.
I just can't help myself. The first thing I do is unlock the bootloader of a phone if I can. Then root it and flash stuff. Need to pass the time somehow...
Haven't rooted yet. Haven't found a good enough reason to. First phone I haven't rooted.

This will allow twrp and regular root. Non of that systemless root over here.
I take no responsibility should this cause you're device to explode, become unusable(bricked), speed up global warming, or shoot flames at you etc. etc.

You only need custom recovery for flashing a custom ROM. Most custom roms come pre-rooted with systemless root. So you should only need to flash the ROM. Of course it all depends on which ROM you flash. So just make sure you check if it's rooted or not. Most are rooted though.

Yes. Just back up stock ROM first. You still need a modified boot.img to boot stock after installing twrp. So I recommend flashing a modified boot.img(in bootloader using fastboot)for twrp to work. Then take back up. Then flash what ever ROM you want.

Brought the Nexus 6p and wanna root it but wanted to ask do I need to unlock the bootloader to root, and what does a unlocked bootloader do compared to rooting.
Also do I lose anything such as finger print when rooting or unlocking bootloader? As this was the case with my old Samsung and I don't wanna ruin this phone.
Sorry if this has been answered but I googled alot and found mixed answers
In order to root you have to unlock your boot loader.. Unlocking your boot loader has no effect on the fingerprint scanner..
Make sure you read the general section of you plan on rooting.. Once you root you can stay with the stock rom or install custom roms.

To gain root access you need to install SuperSU, to install SuperSU you need TWRP recovery, to install TWRP recovery you need an unlocked bootloader. An unlocked bootloader just allows you to flash images to the partitions on your device. It's all in my guide here:

I updated today from COS 12.1 -YOGPAS1N0 using TWRP to cm-13.0-ZNH0EAS2JK-bacon-signed-fastboot-2d1a3b8dca.zip.

What do I need to do to fix this please?
I am rooted and running TWRP 3.0.2
Thanks in advance.
I'm guessing it's because of the version of TWRP you used. Try going back to 2.6, or the modified version of 2.7 floating around. Other versions don't flash the modem correctly.

Thank you, I got it fixed by flashing superSU 2.65.
The problem I had was I was flashing the Beta 2.74. By flashing the 2.65 it rooted my phone back.
Hello. I am running Alliance ROM, with an OH4 build and an OD5 bootloader. My phone has been rooted forever, and I can't remember which root method I used, but I know that I can ODIN an NI2 kernel and get to Safestrap. I've never gotten Xposed to work properly.
There are a lot of threads about using Magisk, but everything talks about it needing some sort of "Systemless root". I'm not sure what that means. Is that some newfangled root method that everyone is using now? I have SuperSU pro 2.78. How do I know if it's Systemless?
Can anyone decipher the Magisk thread and tell me if it will work with this phone? Or are there any other methods that will work?

i dont know if it will work with pokemon go or not but here is a way to hide root you would have to downgrade to super su 2.77 or earlier though to use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/suhide-t3450396

Maybe I am not erasing all the su files, but even with magisk installed, regardless of being on a stock rom or a custom rom, i can't get it to work.
I assumed that magisk working means that magisk is working properly and...should, in theory, allow me to play pokemon go.
I guess I'll just have to hope they repeal it, mostly because iphone has so many hacks....not requiring jailbreak.

My S5 has locked bootloader =(
Magisk requires unlocked bootloader +TWRP
Suhide requires android 6.0+
If you can get TWRP on your S5 you are good to go to play POGO
1.Uninstall xposed and Majisk and Supersu(i used http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3528363&d=1446472307
2.Reflash whatever rom you are on(if using rooted rom(like cm13) reflash unsu.zip and delete the SU binaries or anything that says "su" from /system/bin & /system/xbin & /data with TWRP file browser)
3.TWRP shell, type
echo SYSTEMLESS=true > /data/.supersu
4.Flash SuperSU. only this version http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/2014-09-02-supersu-v2-05-t2868133
5.Reboot to system once before going back to recovery.
6.Flash Magisk v7, then suhide v.54, then Xposed Systemless). Reboot to system.(do not flash batch)(flash each individually)
7.Install Magisk Manager v2.apk
8.Install Material Design Xposed Installer apk
9. i like the "Snorlax" xposed mod
=)
*also earlier today Magisk v6 + Suhide v.54 +xposed was working fine but i went ahead and updated to new verrsions to hopefully stay ahead of safety net
*also here is oudated thread where i learned this method...my steps slightly different and use updated links
*also some report problem with xposed systemless v86.6 ... redo all steps with v86.2
*also xposed not required for POGO (just ignore all xposed entries in setup for working POGO and root) but who doesnt want xposed =P
