Help - I upgraded but I get errors - ONE General

I updated today from COS 12.1 -YOGPAS1N0 using TWRP to cm-13.0-ZNH0EAS2JK-bacon-signed-fastboot-2d1a3b8dca.zip.
Now I keep on getting error message stating that I do not have SIM and the phone is acting sluggish.
What do I need to do to fix this please?
I am rooted and running TWRP 3.0.2
Thanks in advance.

I'm guessing it's because of the version of TWRP you used. Try going back to 2.6, or the modified version of 2.7 floating around. Other versions don't flash the modem correctly.

Thanks for the reply. I did a deep clean and installed it again using TWRP 2.8 but for some reason I lost my root. It kept TWRP though. Any idea to get back the root?

Why don't you try flashing a rooted rom to get root? I know there are other ways to attain root, but this would be the easiest, imo, given you have root.

Just flash latest supersu and you're done. Root will always be lost by doing a clean flash

Thank you, I got it fixed by flashing superSU 2.65.
The problem I had was I was flashing the Beta 2.74. By flashing the 2.65 it rooted my phone back.

[Q] Franco kernel disabled root..

hey guys, thanks for all the info you post however I have an issue with the newest Franco kernel. I installed the latest release and after reboot my root access is gone. I tried reinstalling Super SU, but even when doing it through TWRP it doesn’t install. The kernel is R75 the latest available through the Franco App. This is my first time using a kernel, is this normal? What do I need to do to get rooted again?
Thanks for everyone's contributions on the forum, you have helped me tremendously in the past just from reading posts and thanks for any help with this issue.

The only thing lately I notice lately is flashing some 4.3 roms you loose root. Easy to get back just use the below tool
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766475
I also had the same problem when i flashed franco kernel #75 over PA #3.91 and it broke the root.
I also searched for superuser patch but could not find any updates.

So is there currently no fix for this then? I think I'd rather go with Stock Kernel than lose all of my root exclusive apps.
BTW I don't think I mentioned it before, I am using a Nexus 7 (orig).
Edit:
I just found this
Just auto-flash the r75-nightly with FKU on my stock-4.3 nexus 7 16GB.
After re-boot, the supersu poped up a notification that "There is no SU binary installed and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem!".
This issue is solved after I re-flash the current latest UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.51.zip with CWM.

If i read correctly, something in the latest CM 10.2 ramdisk released recently broke root. The next update to all of the kernels will see it fixed.

if you use the SuperSU link I provided you can re-root with the latest franco kernel running.
SuperSu worked!!!

lose root after installing FKR75 with FK updater
I tried flashing the latest super su 1.65 zip but TWRP said it couldn't open the zip file. I had to reflash the stock ROM to get back root.
I have followed this thread but found no answer.

Updating from MDL

I tried to figure this out and I'm lost. I've not been keeping up with development on this phone for a while. I'm currently on stock rooted MDL, stock recovery. I'm looking to move to rooted current stock rom. How do I go about this. As simple as just putting a new recovery on and flashing the new one? Or do I need to be careful of anything?
Feels weird to be out of touch with how everything works now.

You need to put a custom recovery on. Then flash the ROM in the recovery. Since you're rooted you could use goo manager to put twrp on

Just FYI, if on i337, get familiar with loki-doki and when you need to flash it--:good:
I am in the same boat. Have tried goomanager and rom manager but both failed to load recoveries. It seems they have moved on to 4.4.2 kitkat and no longer work with 4.2.2 MDL. Have also tried to find .tar files for older recoveries and flash with ODIN but no luck. Afraid to OTA update from AT&T and get MK2. Any help would GREATLY be appreciated.

Not sure but can you unroot and reroot with Adam's Motochopper. It installs twrp. Maybe JD can confirm that.

Glad you got it--you can now flash custom recoveries from recovery. I like twrp 2.5.0.2
Don't try goomanager anymore--not needed
There are a couple files to delete so you don't get auto updated. Some have Update in name and one has FOTA. I don't have them in front of me atm
Get a nandroid asap and put copy on pc too
Plus backup efs
Just one last check before I try and mess with things tonight. Since I'm on MDL still, to install a new current ROM (like this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2280556), all I need to do is:
- install a custom recovery (TWRP 2.5.0.2 looks like the most recent)
- backup
- full wipe
- flash new ROM
I shouldn't have to mess with any of the safestrap stuff correct?
Just trying to be cautious.

No SafeStrap. Backup should include System. Make sure to read OP and last few pages of thread for any new info. Make sure ROM doesn't need loki-doki. Most in att forum don't. What recovery are you on now?

I thought I was on stock recovery, but checking just now apparently I put OUDhs CWM Touch Recovery v1.0.3.4 on sometime in the past year. I'll either go to the latest version of CWM or TWRP before doing anything.

[Q] Flashing ROM failure

Hi,
Yesterday I went to flash CyanogenMod 11 on my Galaxy s4 (GT19505) and it wouldn't work. The first time, it started then went to a black screen. I turned my phone back on to find it wouldn't boot up at all (I waited over 10 minutes for it). I can access recovery mode, and when I did it again, it said md5 couldn't be found.
I used Odin to flash the most recent CT auto root and then moved over TWRP (with Odin) and I had no trouble with these.
I accidentally moved TWRP 2.5 over instead of 2.7. I was running 4.4 KitKat on my phone. Could it be 2.7 isn't compatible with CM 11?
Help!?
It should just work.
Flash the latest TWRP or Philz.
Perform a full wipe.
Flash Cyanogenmod.
What version are you trying to flash from Cyanogenmod? Use the nightlys and if one doesn't work try the version before that one.
ps you can skip the step nexttime about flashing cf-auto root. You don't have to do this. You can just flash the recovery you want.

I'm using a stable version. I haven't downloaded any latest ones. How would i do that if I can't access the phone? Boot it to download then go from there?
are you sure you (even) flashed a (compatible) kernel?

Is there any difference between 19500 and 19505? I'll try a new CM download...knowing my uncertainty I probably got an incompatible rom.
How stable are the nightlies?

You should only flash a rom for YOUR model phone, and for me the nightlies were stable enough to use.

So I redid TWRP, now what about CM 11? TWRP uses the jfltexx in its name...do I just use Odin to move CM?
So, I installed TWRP 2.7 and it worked. All is good, currently enjoying CM!!!
Now the battery is saying it's at 0%...how do I fix that?
Now my password isn't working for some reason. I did a restore with TWRP and now I can get into my phone. Fix?

Can't install CM11 on Dev VZ S5

I'm rooted and unlocked running custom ROM TW 4.4.4 with Koontz kernel using TWRP and for the life of me I can't get CM11 installed.
I'm using the KLTEVZW version and the recommended GAPPS. I'm stumped. Any ideas?

I'm using Koontz TW Kernel currently. But the CM zip file should contain the new CM Kernel. ?
I am getting this message when it fails, 'this package is for device KLTEVZW, this device is KLTE'. So I guess I'm flashing the wrong zip. But my phone is an Verizon S5 developer model.....confused?

which cm11 rom are you flashing? from verizon s5 original development section?
Yes, from Ablinoman887 and official cm 11, KLTEVZW. I did flash the KLTE version and it didn't fail but it bootlooped. However I did flash fusion 4.4.4 for KLTEVZW and its working great.
Try using the Version of TWRP from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2794674

Right, but how did you flash it? With ODIN? or use TWRP to flash it? The link only provides a .img file and if I tar it ODIN wont flash it, not sure if I am doing something wrong with tarring it or if the img isnt setup to be flashed by ODIN.
Thanks, for your help

Hmm, suppose so, never really thought about it, I came from a Motorola phone last time and not a Dev device either, so this whole ODIN, unlocked thing is new to me. Either way *facepalm*....hahaha
So it looks like this is only working for the dev version of the verizon GS5? Or at least that's what this page says (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2794674)

Systemless SuperSU Causing Random Reboots

I just updated to MM and I'm so lost in the mess we have to go through to root. It seems the only method of using SuperSU is systemless. If there's a method that does involve /system I much prefer that. I've been getting random reboots on my device that occur with no pattern. And sometimes some root functions will work while other times they completely fail without notice. Is there an alternative stable method of root or at least a solution to the problems occurring? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Which version of SuperSU did you use? As far as I know you cannot just flash SuperSU in TWRP for MM. I would go here and read up first if you want systemless root... http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-style/development/wip-systemless-root-t3263405 but if you just want a rooted device then go to the many threads that have pre-rooted twrp backups or just flash a rooted rom in twrp. Hope this helps you.

As an alternative to the link posted above, here is a link to vx2ko's stock MM with traditional root. The ROM is amazing. Been using it for about a week and I highly recommend it. If you're coming from systemless root you most definitely need to clean flash/factory reset before flashing the ROM.
