[SOLVED] Where did Facial Recognition Unlock option go? - ZTE Axon 7 Questions & Answers

Month old Axon 7, I had Facial Recognition set up to unlock the screen. It worked fine.
Now all of a sudden it's gone. Not only my face don't unlock the screen, this option doesn't even exist on my phone.
Any idea?

Honestly, that is the worst protection method EVER. See this: https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/201...e-recognition-can-be-defeated-with-a-picture/

Understood, it is also protected with fingerprint and a code. I am just curious where the hell did it disappear

Can we find not from ZTE, useful gesture to have

SOLVED: problem solved. I have a credit card app set up as Device Admin. As soon as I removed it as an admin, Facial recognition came back.

[Q] Fingerprint doesn't recognise my fingerprint and forgot my password..

Long story short...i setup a fingerprint a few weeks back, didnt use it for a while and now I want to delete it.
Except now my phone refuses to recognise my fingerprint no matter which way i swipe it...
on top of that i'm retarded and forgot the alternate password too.
Is factory resetting the only way?
EDIT: Fingerprint is not set as my passcode, I just have it registered. My passcode is a separate PIN code.

Oh thanks, I don't mean I can't get into my phone.
I have a separate PIN code set as my passcode and I have a fingerprint that is registered that I want to delete, but to delete the fingerprint I need the alternate password, which i have forgotten lol. When I swipe it many times and it fails, it just asks me for the alternate password.

Only way I can think of is if you have a custom recovery installed enter it and factory reset or something.

Thanx
Update: I found this. But i dont know if this also removes the alternative password.. i just located my phone but i cant check anything else
cause im at work.. need my phone..
go online to android device manager log in with your google log in wait till it locates your phone u then click to lock your device it asks you for a new password. It over rides whatever password or lock feature u have on it. Then you get phone type the new password and boom problem solved.

Be advised--if you have registered fingerprints, perform a full/data Nandroid, and later restore, your fingerprints and alternate password may no longer work. The effect is the same as what the OP experienced. It seems like the only way to resolve the issue at this time is to reset.
This problem also affects the Note 4 and Edge. See thread here:

I am offering in the general Q/A forum $25 for anyone who comes up with a method to wipe/clear/delete the fingerprint registration when the registered fingerprints and alternate/backup passwords don't work.

A friend of mine is in real trouble. She bought her s5 for christmas and travelled. She took amazing photos and made National Geographic material videos, including of melting glaciers. when she was on a cruise for the new year, the phone locked her out due to the fingertip lock. The worse part: She wasn´t using it, when she got it from her coat pocket it was already locked. When she went to the Samsung store they told her to do a Hard Reset since the option to unblock with the google id wasn´t appearing. Before I found out that maybe she could´ve tried to unlock with samsumg lost my phone or google remote she did the reset and lost all her stuff. Tried 3 different recovery apps and all of them requires rooting. Not only we´re not confident enough, she wants to return it to Samsung and rooting voids the warranty. Is there any other way?
I even thought about taking the phone to a computer assistance to see if they can do something

[Q] Fingerprint Scanner Issues

Anyone having this problem? I switched my lock screen security over to the fingerprint scanner the other day, and I seem to be having some problems with it. It works ok. Like I can scan my finger, and the screen will unlock, but I keep randomly also getting asked for my alternate password, which is the other way that I can unlock it.
I'll unlock the screen with my fingerprint, then it will ask me for my password. I can hit Cancel, and it will still work fine, or if I enter the password, it takes me to the Lock Screen settings. It also randomly asks for my password if I'm just doing something random, like using Google Maps. And now, sometimes the screen won't even come on, when I wake the device. Black screen, backlighting lights up. What the heck??? Very strange. Please help, thanks in advance

Sorry, I forgot that I also posted this on XDA. I'd received some responsed on Android Central.
Are you having all of the exact same problems? Or just some of them? Because I believe that I solved the problem of the phone screen occassionally being black on wake by moving all of my apps off of the SD card onto the device memory.
As for being randomly asked for my alternate password, I believe that this is because of an app called Worx Home that I recently installed so I could check my work email on my phone. I'm thinking it doesn't like having Fingerprint security. Do you have this app by chance? I can't verify this because I can't afford to remove the app.
fingerprint issue
It turned out my problem was Touchdown HD app for reading my GroupWise email. My employer requires more secure lock on my phone. Thanks for following up!

Ahh, so then I guess that confirms my suspicion about my work email app. Same problem, it wants a different security setting. You're welcome, and thanks for replying!
By the way, if anybody else is having blank screen on wake issues, one other thing I did at the time was uninstall the app Tasker. Not sure if that had anything to do with it, but it was one thing I did.

Stock Android already had facial recognition feature in built. Just follow the steps. Settings>security> smart Lock> trusted face. You are good to go. Do hit the thanks button if it helped.
Face unlock is available since lollipop era. I've tried the feature again on my a1, and it is as fast as the one plus 5t, except the 5t automatically goes to home screen as soon as face detected.

Yes and same applies for the 5t. That's why the 5t face id can't be use for payments or transactions.

OnePlus is using face detection from smart lock for 5T's face unlock. So there is a possibility that someone may bring this feature to get work for other devices as well. Just wait till the developers work on this.

It's true that it can't be unlocked with a picture but there are ways to bypass that. If you really own the device then try clicking your own pic at the same moment you register then you may unlock it. I didn't try it but it can be done maybe

Ok i for a app called auto input on playstore . This thing did what you want. This app swipes up after face gets recognised. Used it on Mi a1 works perfectly. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joaomgcd.autoinput
Anyone mind sharing the faceunlock.apk ? I tried it with a newer version manually, but now it just crashes. That's why I need the original again.

Fingerprint reader does not work and Really low call volume.

Hello everyone, thank you for commenting on this publication.
Current place, Ecuador.
Phone purchased in amazon US.
Since 10/18/2018
No Root
Today I'm adapting to the phone, but when setting up the unlock with fingerprint reader it does not work, it does not detect me, it does not do anything.
In addition to making calls the sound is really low, somehow they have managed to increase the volume.
Thank you

Just a guess, similar thing has happened to me.
bypass initial finger print setup ~> security & location ~> Fingerprint
If there is already a finger print profile there, delete it and re enroll your finger print. Good luck.

Thanks Twowong4words
I tell you that the phone is new, there is no existing profile.
Also I tell you that for the gesture on android 9. It does not react.
How can I know that it just came to me with factory error.

Missing fingerprint reader

Does anybody know how apps that use your fingerprint to login will be dealing with the situation that there is no longer a fingerprint reader on the pixel?
Thanks
Nick
Face unlock.
Hi @sic0048,
Thanks for your answer. This is exactly what I presumed. I was wondering if any apps which are now using fingerprints for logging in, will work straight out of the box. Or will the app developers have to program in support for face unlock. In other words will for example banking apps work directly after the pixel4 is released or will one have to wait till these apps (and it is quite a few) are updated.
bye
nick
I'm not a developer, but my guess is that the unlocking is always handled by the phone, regardless of method. The app is told when it is unlocked, not how. So I suspect it will work out of the box.

The API will probably be a generic biometric check which could be fingerprint, face, voice or whatever. It would be over complicated to specify a particular type, rather that the secure service in Android trusts the process used. There is a section in security for trusted services
An exposed mod allows you to trick all apps into using face unlock. If your OK with rooting your phone then the problem is solved.
