Fitbit Notifications - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

So far everything has been wonderful with my device, but I haven't gotten Fitbit Notifications to work. Sync and Connected GPS work well, but no notifications. It has not added Fitbit into the Accessibility area which seems to be the problem. But I can't seem to coax it to work yet.

Question for Nexus One Owners: Blue&Me?

If anyone knows weather or not Nexus One (or even Android) fully supports Fiats Blue&Me system it would be great to get a reply.
We've been trying to find out for awhile but very limited on info.
Blue&Me is one of the best (if not the best) Voice/Text-To-Voice systems built into Fiat cars, and more car makers are signing up to it, so if anyone's able to test weather or not the SMS Reader & Voice calls (call + hang up) works with Blue&Me it would be brilliant.
I wouldn't count on it working. Android barely has file sending/receiving over bluetooth.
I'm not sure how tech savvy you are... If you are not already aware of it you should try and find which Bluetooth profiles are needed and which ones the N1 supports. That should be a good indication as to whether it will work or not.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluetooth_profile
it supports phonebook sync, a2dp, handsfree, surely that's all it needs? but do they work well together?

Sounds like the calling would work, but weather SMS Reader function would work im not sure, seems only sony ericson have it pinned at the moment, WM6.5 doesnt, which i find a screw job considering Blue&Me is a Windows Mobile device.
I'm trying to get hold of a friend with an android phone, maybe i'll get a hint from that as to what works or not.
If anyone else can test it with a nexus one.. would be great

Nice & sunny today....
All works except SMS Reader.
HTC Desire.
From what I recall, it needs the device to send sms over bluetooth. From all the speech to text, text to speech apps out there and the fact its based on open source kernel, I live in hope that someone will fix it ;-)
You don't need Blue&Me to have your SMS read - just use Tasker (http://tasker.dinglisch.net/).

Hi 8eaker,
I've been trying to get my Desire to talk with my Alfa 159's Blue&Me+Nav system but no luck so far.
The phone keeps saying that the [bluetooth] connection is broken.
My car was last updated 3-4 months ago.
Did you get a more recent update maybe?
What make is your car?
Thanks!

The weather shouldn't affect the N1's bluetooth.
How many Voice/Text-to-Voice systems are built into Fiat cars?
Everything except SMS reader work fine on a Fiat 500. No better or worse than my g1 was.
hey befunged would you please let me know if u got ur phone music playing through the car speakers, frankly i dont need the SMS reader, and i cant seem to get to work, the 500 sees my N1 as a handsfree as far as its concerned. but i would love more of it...please help really appreciate it.
I have a Fiat Punto EVO with Blue&Me and I am unable to get my Nexus ONE to stay paired.
I got it paired once and it worked briefly but than lost connection after several seconds.
Any have any ideas as I just bought the car expecting it to work with my phone
Blue and me just looks like a headset to the phone. You can't stream music over bluetooth. The limitation is with blue and me, not android.
You'd think fiat could provide an update but since they can't even display mp3 song names properly I wouldn't hold my breath

Using Ford Sync with MyTouch 4G Genius Button

A friend of mine has been nursing an old BlackBerry 8700G for many years now. Last week he decided to put it out to pasture and picked up a MyTouch 4G (due, in part, to my glowing review of the device).
He's not happy.
Some of his issues are the usual complaints which can be handled with a quick tutorial and a few tweaks here and there.
The real problem, though, is integration with Microsoft Sync in his 2009 Ford Escape.
The aged BlackBerry worked pretty much as expected with Sync but the MT4G does not. Making and receiving phone calls seems to work just fine but the SMS messaging features of Sync do not appear to be compatible with the MT4G.
This shouldn't matter, though, right? The "Genius Button" lets you send and receive SMS messages via voice control. Unfortunately, while he and I had both assumed that the Sync system would let him access all of the voice control features of the Genius Button (including full voice-control of SMS messages), we were mistaken. Sync doesn't seem to provide any mechanism for triggering a phone's built-in voice recognition system, thereby rendering the Genius Button features completely useless.
Now, I've never used Sync myself so I'm holding out hope that there is some kind of trick or software update that will get his setup working the way he wants it to work. Anybody know something about this that I don't or is he pretty much screwed?
Shouldn't have bought a Ford...
Sorry had to say it
I have SYNC in my 2010 Mustang, and to my knowledge it doesn't have the ability to forward a call button command to the phone like most Bluetooth headsets do. SYNC is more of a "command center" rather than a glorified BT headset in a car stereo, so it pulls in data and info from a variety of sources and you use the voice and button commands to access and control it. You would likely have to tell the car "Bluetooth Streaming" and have the phone playback information for you (unfortunately, the microphone won't forward anything so the handsfree profile will just tie that up).
If he's really, totally, and COMPLETELY hung up on that and still wants Android, I've read on the SYNC forums that the DROID, DROID 2, and DROID X all support SMS transmission through SYNC, including reading and replying. Of course, this might be mitigated by Gingerbread since it's supposed to be getting a new BT stack from what I've read. You know, or not.
Please post questions in the Q&A section.
Question, do they actually have Sync working correctly with their devices? I have a MT4G and am trying to sync with my 2010 Ford F-150. The phone book starts to download and then quits half way through and then the bluetooth causes the phone to freeze up and gets completely screwy. My Vibrant and HD7 do great....the MT4G not so much.

Mine works fine. My G2 would act strange with my Mustang until I figured out I had to disable WiFi before getting in the car. I'm not sure if it's just WiFi, or the WiFi calling app hanging or resetting the radio, but after doing that my SYNC system would download the phonebook and stay connected the whole time. My mT4G doesn't require this.
Edit: Just thought of this, but I'm using WiFi N at 5GHz at home now with the mT4G, whereas I was on 2.4GHz with my G2 and had the issues. Normally you get different radios for different frequencies, so I wonder if that's the case here.

[Q] Nexus 4(MTP devices) and Ford Sync

Hey everyone, I currently own a Ford Fiesta which has Sync. I'm trying to shed some light regarding MTP(USB) and Ford Sync.
So far, my research shows that the Galaxy Nexus which introduced MTP, people would have their playlist get stuck at "Indexing" and you were not able to sync through USB (Bluetooth pairing works fine).
I've tried the regular methods of, factory resetting SYNC and doing a master reset on my car. Anyone have better experience with this situation? Advice?
As a background, the only music I have is Google Music. I currently have a couple albums in my device but the rest are uploaded. Tomorrow morning I'm going to try updating my software (which I believe is already up to date) but worth a shot. I have the Nexus 4 running (Android 4.2 [doy!])
Help would be greatly appreciated!

Selfless BUMP.
If this doesn't work is there anyway I can make a (Music)folder partitioned so that it will mount ?
I know currently there's not MTP to USB Mass Storage mode :/ but there has to be a way to get this working
How good is the Nexus 4 working with Sync? Anything to look out for or any tips you can provide? Gonna be trying it with my Ford soon. What works and what doesn't work?
I happen to have a Fiesta with sync... I've never tried plugging my N4 into it, though... I either just stream Pandora (get the Pandora app link if you haven't yet; it's awesome!) or play music from my thumb drive. If you'd like, I can give it a try in my car and see if I get any other results.
BTW, does your phone work with text messaging?

Pretty good... the sound quality is noticeably worse than my older phone, though, but it's not too bad. Pairing is a lot quicker I've noticed. Text messaging doesn't work, however... I know only a few phones do, though.
I'm just curious if you can get all the wireless Bluetooth functionality that Ford Sync claims? Such as reading of incoming text messages, voice activated calling, things like that. Does it work for you? I'm guessing by your question that text messaging does not work, sadly.
Here's a summary of my experience.
-Currently, MTP on the Nexus 4 makes USB Audio not sync, so you can't play music through USB (You'll get stuck at Indexing FOREVER).
-Bluetooth Audio works pretty well however you won't get info such as Artist, Song name, etc.
-Streaming audio through bluetooth doesn't let you do "Play Artist XXX or Play Song XXX" that USB Audio CAN provide.
-With that said, like someone said above me, you can use a USB thumb drive just fine to play a bunch of songs. If you have a Ford Fiesta 2012, there's a secret Secondary USB2 for developers which works PERFECTLY fine. (http://www.fiestafaction.com/forums/ice-car-entertainment/31647-second-usb-port-19.html)
-Sync can read your messages once it does come in but you have to press OK a couple of times.
-The Sync Messaging system is TERRIBLE. You cannot reply with a custom message. You always have to use preset ones. I really wish someone is able to hack the sync button to call Google Now or something.. that would be AWESOME.
-Using Pandora App Link works pretty well, you can skip tracks and pause it's awesome.
-Sync Services can be pretty useful. I recommend using downloading an app called Send To Car, which lets you go on google maps, type a location or business address and "share" it to Send to Car which then sends it to your car so you can navigate.
Sync isn't perfect, but it has an even share of good and bad. If you're in to buying a Ford Fiesta, I recommend holding off for the 2014 version which will support MyFord Touch. This actually allows AVRCP1.3 so you can stream audio track names etc through bluetooth.
Thanks for the information!

I agree, now that would be great.
Shameless bump.
So I found out today my friend's S3 is able to stream music through USB in his Ford. According to my car forums as well iPhone 5 users are able to do the same on SYNC capable cars. :/ I know these phones incorporate MTP style storage so why can't my Nexus 4 do it ): .

Hi darkamikaze,
Can you let me know what version of Ford Sync you are running? I'm going to guess it's an non-MyFord Touch system, which seems to have more support for the Bluetooth MAP profile.
I've got a Nexus 4 on order, and running the latest MyFord Touch system. I will report back if this seems to work any better.
Yes I have the Gen1 on my Fiesta'12 which I know for a fact will never get the better bluetooth profile which allows media info to be passed along to my fiesta's dash.
Still unfortunate that I can't get the damn USB-To-Nexus 4 working -_-; Forever stuck at indexing.
Just for everyone's information:

It would be interesting to eventually see an app to interface with Google Now. Additionally, I believe that Ford Sync systems use the i.MX516 ARM with processorWEIMX: Windows® Embedded for i.MX Applications Processor. I could be wrong about the OS though. It would be cool if they made the OS code open source, imagine the possibilities.
That is fantastic news! I'm gonna try to dive into this right now!
Please let us know...
Another thing beside music is the calling feature. When I receive a call and wanted to take it on private then I should answer from the phone not the wheel button nor the dashboard screen but when I do so the call would still trans to the car audio. When I used blackberry before I used to answer from wheel/dashboard for car audio call OR I could answer from the phone to have a private call on the handset.
Any thoughts?

I picked my car up on Wednesday. I've not tried my N4 with it via Bluetooth Audio yet as I have a 32gb USB Drive doing nothing so I've just put that in there.
The only issue I'm having is getting Text Messaging working with my N4. It just says that the Nexus 4 does not support this feature. I've looked around and found people mentioning the MAP Profile setting but I can't find it anywhere. My only guess is that this setting doesn't exist on the UK Version which is built in to the new Fiesta.
People from the UK can't even register on Syncmyride.com
Using Services (Sending Location)
Is anyone else here having an issue with Ford Sync Services & their Nexus 4s? Specifically, I have a Ford Fiesta with the latest Sync SW, and every time I use Services (for instance to get directions or to find out traffic), it says it can't find my location.
Just want to rule out that it's the phone that's the problem- so has anyone successfully done this with their N4s?
Thanks!

Trying to help some one in the States with the same problem... They have a 2013 Ford Focus + Nexus 4... The Nexus 4 pairs with MyTouch Sync just fine.. But for messaging it says the device aka Nexus 4 is not compatible with Bluetooth Messaging.... Been trying to find ow to activate or check if MAP Profile allows for Bluetooth Messaging...
I am wondering if the 4.2.2 update will address any of the BT profile problems... ( Never mind.. Seems Google hasn't fix any of the BT problems with 4.2.2... WTF Google..)
PM me if u find a solution.. I'll do the same...

All I've found is that the Nexus 4 lacksthe BT MAP Profile which is required by Sync to use Text Messaging. Samsung devices on the other hand have the BT MAP Profile, so my girlfriends phone works fine with it.
CM 10.1 supposedly has the profile but it's broken. I've been checking the nightlies but no one has fixed it yet. If I knew what I was doing I'd have a go at porting the profile over from a samsung device myself.

I also have been trying CM 10.1 to get MAP working so I can access text messages on MyFord Touch in my Focus. Just updated to CM 10.1 RC2 and it still isn't working for me.
I just want to know whose hare-brained idea it was to eliminate UMS from Android in the first place.
Both my N4 and my wife's SGS3 (i747) get stuck at "INDEXING" forever when plugging into Sync in our 2012 Fusion. She actually switched back to her HTC Vivid because of it.
Here's to hoping 10.1 final will restore UMS functionality.
I had the "indexing forever problem" when I first tried USB with nexus 4.I noticed that a couple minutes in the phone would show "media.process has stopped". What I did was clear the USB mass storage cache. Settings>apps>all>media storage>clear cache. Then no problems. Sync finished indexing in a minute and media voice control works fine. I use syncmyitunes to add music. When I first had problems I deleted all music on phone and added only one song to the music folder to index the first time. This might help also. Now after all this, sync occasionally states it has detected a new device and indexes again. Usually this is when I forget to plug in the phone BEFORE starting the car. Hope this helps someone.

Bluetooth blues

Hello all.
I am having some bluetooth connectivity problem with my moto g 4 US xt1625 Retus channel (non amazon version) stock everything.
Basically the connection to my smartwatch is unstable and keeps dropping on and off.
Normally I would be blaming the smartwatch for this BUT it connects absolutely perfectly to my moto G2 (cyanogenmod 14) without any hint of misbehavior
I've already tried;
Forgetting and re-pairing device (also rebooting phone before repairing)
Factory resetting watch
clearing app data and cache of system bluetooth apps ("bluetooth share" and "bluetooth MIDI")
Disabling 4G (sometimes interferes apparently)
Disabling wifi
Running phone in safe mode.
*edit - also tried disabling power optimisation for both system bluetooth apps AND the watch companion app
I also reconnected my smartwatch to my old moto G 2 after trying all these things and it still works perfectly.
Old moto G2 had blutooth 4.0 LE and this moto G4 has bluetooth 4.2 LE which would offer no comparability issues.
Has anyone had any similar problems with their bluetooth?
Thanks in advance
I think my next move will be to root, and start removing G apps that could be interfering with the bluetooth connection

I have had a problem with my Fitbit connecting that didn't happen on my G2 or G3. I keep my cordless home phone connected with no problem though. What I have to do is forget the Fitbit in my bluetooth devices and it connects fine. If it's even showing up in the bluetooth devices it won't connect. That seems strange that it will only connect that way but others have reported the same thing. Maybe try and see if it connects after you forget it in the bluetooth settings and it's not even showing up.

OK maybe you're on to something.
If I connect to the watch using the companion app, then enter bluetooth settings and "forget" the device..... It still appears to be connected
But a few seconds later, it automatically pairs and re-appears in the "paired devices" list.
Is there a way to prevent re-connect?
Actually, after "forgetting" it several times, It's staying connected and has done for a 15 minutes now.
I'll report back if and when it disconnects.
Cheers
Ok so the watch disconnected a couple of times in a few hours. (this is a huge improvement from before)
Each time, "forgetting" the watch in bluetooth settings caused an automatic re-pair and return to good connection.
Maybe I can use "tasker" or similar app to automate this unpair upon disconnect?
Cheers

Yeah, it's strange that it works that way. I think it's the device not compatible with that version Bluetooth. My Fitbit doesn't try to reconnect once I forget it unless I make it pair then it will actually work sometimes and sometimes it doesn't when paired. It always works if I don't pair it at all. Have you tried clicking on the gear besides your watch in more settings once it connects and unchecking what ever connectons it shows in the check boxes?

If i click the gear next to the watch in the bluetooth settings, the only options i have are to rename the device, or to forget it
I have no checkboxes or anything like thar.

I seldom connect my phone to mysync but my wife does. She also keeps her G4 connected to the Panasonic home phone system while home. I've noticed that since the update to Nougat mysync is very slow to connect on her phone. The Panasonic cordless phone seems to connect fine. Mysync will usually connect although she has to drive for 10 or 15 minutes before it does occasionally and other times it connects instantly. One time I had to delete her phone in the car and add it back. I wondered if it was a problem of it not disconnecting from the Panasonic, but that shouldn't be past the end of the driveway. Then again it may be just a rip in the space time continum. ?

Multiple issues after Upgrade to 8.0

Hi,
After upgrading to Android 8.0 on my H870 I'm encountering multiple issues.
Using my G6 with Ford Sync 2 or 3 keeps crashing Bluetooth. Meanwhile using Bluetooth with my Marshall Stockwell works absolutly fine. Unpairing and pairing again doesn't seem to work.
Also GPS in Google Maps only works for locating me, but when using it with Navigation my location keeps being stuck at my original position and doesn't move...
HERE also keeps being stuck with "Waiting for GPS".
Restarting the phone didn't help.
Does anyone have a solution to my problems? :crying:
Many thanks in advance
Solution:
After restarting my G6 about 3 to 4 times and disabling Call and Contact Access in the Bluetooth device settings and then restarting everything works fine now. (including GPS)
Update:
The problem is back again
Somewhat new solution:
By enabling the developer options my "Bluetooth AVRCP Version" was set to AVRCP 1.5, which isn't the default...
So by changing it to AVRCP 1.4 Bluetooth works fine now...
VS988 here: Everything seems mostly okay, except for the constant bluetooth crashes. Anybody else seeing that? Also, FWIW, not enjoying the system notifications. Trying to figure out how to turn those off.

I had frequent bluetooth crash notifications on nougat. On oreo bluetooth will not connect a2dp/avrcp beyond first pairing with my Pioneer car stereo ..still works fine on bt headsets that dont pull phonebook including my old basic sony car stereo.

VS988 here: Everything seems mostly okay, except for the constant bluetooth crashes. Anybody else seeing that? Also, FWIW, not enjoying the system notifications. Trying to figure out how to turn those off.

If you're talking about persistant battery notification hold on it from notification panel..unfortunately it's all or none. Wish Google had the foresight to allow disable on a per app basis, but you know how wishes go...
I'm having the same problems with bluetooth. My headphones can connect, however after about 3 seconds they automatically disconnect for audio (though they somehow still connect to the phone, just not on audio).
My car still connects and works, however it does sound now like I am listening to a scratched CD (whereas both were working absolutely fine before the update). Haven't found anyone with a solution so far.
Verizon G6 VS988 here.
To respond to a couple of the suggestions here, I did a factory reset first because of bluetooth and battery problems. That didn't fix the problems. I just changed to AVRCP 1.4 Bluetooth and hopefully that fix works for bluetooth. I also have a Ford with Sync.
Something new ive noticed is if i place a call it puts up the audio output notification and everything works as normal. Having reset my phone and car both i can only say LG missed out on my next phone purchase even when running low on phone options.
How do u change to that ? Is it on the phone device settings cant seem to find out how
GPS problem in G6 is a common issue. No solutions so far.
Bluetooth wont work with any device I've tried it with. Many restarts, unpairing, turning on/off bluetooth. Nothing works, need this fixed.
Just adding another testimony of the issue.
T-Mobile
I really hate to say this, but I really cannot recommend LG to anyone anymore after all the issues I've got with my phone...
Another question:
I have 2 NFC payment apps installed.
I'm now on version V20c-EUR-XX and since the upgrade I cannot change my default payment app, so when I'm in the store it always tries to pay with app 2 instead of app 1, even when app 1 is on the screen with the card I want to use...
This really frustrates me, because app 2 doesn't always work in stores (but is my preferred app)...

Is that issue because it's an LG phone? Or does it happen because of that version of Android?
One of my friends is using a Galaxy S8+ and he is running Android 8 (same as mine).
I just cannot think of any reason why they removed this feature...
(So it is a issue with my LG H870)
