I have some way to change the appearance of the Launcher without using LauncherHijack (or something like that)?
And I can not activate the permissions of some applications, you know how to solve that?

You want someone to reverse engineer really complex low level firmware of a totally undocumented bit of hardware, where one bad flash could hardbrick the phone?
What for? And do you want to give someone the endless supply of phones you would need?

No, I was just wondering if anyone had looked into it. I ask this because I was curious as to how the exploit that found the network unlock codes worked.

Freezing the OTA silent install?

Hi, I just rooted using Kindle Water and got the Android Market installed. Can I stop the next OTA update by freezing the app on my kindle using Titanium Backup?

Sorry, I am not sure but I am really interested to find this out myself. I have read a few articles today and there seems to be a few procedures but nothing where someone has said it 100% works.
There must be a consensus among the developers/experienced techies - please let us know.
Yes, I have done it, search got otacerts.zip in this forum.

So is it not as simple as flashing a custom ROM as has been made out in this thread?

Thought you wanted to stay on the stock ROM...

Sorry not me, I would flash CM7/CM9. I don't care much for the standard ROM plus I live in the UK so wouldn't get any amazon services anyway.
I don't mean to hijack the thread but the OP hasn't stated whether he would stay standard or not.
People in another thread have just confirmed by flashing a non standard ROM I will not receive any updates

I believe that is correct, if you running a non stock ROM then Amazons OTA updates are not an issue.

The only ways to stay stock and prevent it are to unregistered your kindle on amazon.com, turn off wifi, or diligently check the cache folder and delete the file when it downloads. It doesn't install immediately and it won't download it again once you delete it

I'm not sure anyone can do this without root. I can look into the file manager for you, but I don't think I can pull anything out of system without root.

You install the adb application on the computer. The adb service will be running on the android device automatically. If the android device is not rooted, when you run the adb application on your computer, you will connect as the shell user account which is allowed to read the /system partition. You might have to play with some drivers or adb_usb.ini to get the adb application to recognize the android device. In this case, my Mac recognize the device after I checked usb debugging.

Dude, yes! It works awesome! Thank you so much! I normally use toggle widgets in the notification bar but wanted to give the quick settings Page a try which was why I was interested. I'm really jealous of you guys with the razr m. It just looks downright badass in person with that massive screen on such a tiny body

to install the razr m launcher do i have to do something special? or it is just like downloading the file th internal memory or sd card, and then install it from there as a normal app? or im wrong? and if i install the apk for the razr m launcher, and then i want to go back to normal launcher of razr xt910, which would be the best way to do it?
My goodness, this launcher is awesomely fast, I'm stunned on my GNex.... I've previously tried the Atrix HD launcher, but it was worst, very laggy... But, this is just superb... I now install the widget launcher and apply the CM10 Motorola theme, and it should look similar to moto... FTW... Thanks for sharing...

Google Assistant question

Okay, So I found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/guide-google-assistant-marshmallow-t3478450 and I couldn't get it to work. Can someone please patch it to arm64?
I'll do it in a bit.

Im having issues recompiling. After doing some research I've found that it cant be done on stock system like ours. The OP of that thread may not be rooted, but his modified system must allow for the installation of non-signed apps.
But is there ANY way to install it on my device?
Any one?

So I enabled screen lock pin code on rooted hd8 2017

Having enabled a lockscreen passcode via activity launcher I can't find a way to disable it.
Settings > Security & Privacy just closes on launch
Am I missing something easy here?

I did not know this. If only it were that easy to actually remove the lock screen...well Amazon's anyways.
But install the settings APK I made for the options to appear on the dashboard. https://forum.xda-developers.com/hd...oot-firetabletsettings-apk-rewritten-t3787636

I'm not sure to be honest. It depends if they changed anything significantly. The worst that would happen is it won't work. Just backup your current APK.

Yes, it is that easy, not only on the Fire but on very many Android phones. The point is that you should have TWRP to access those files when you are locked out of the device.

Amazon's lockscreen runs as a system server. Totally separate from Android's. I was talking of disabling it so Android's takes over.
