Having enabled a lockscreen passcode via activity launcher I can't find a way to disable it.
Settings > Security & Privacy just closes on launch
Am I missing something easy here?

This seems to work https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software-hacking/remove-lockscreen-recovery-t3530008
...except I just did it with a root explorer

I did not know this. If only it were that easy to actually remove the lock screen...well Amazon's anyways.
But install the settings APK I made for the options to appear on the dashboard. https://forum.xda-developers.com/hd...oot-firetabletsettings-apk-rewritten-t3787636

I'm not sure to be honest. It depends if they changed anything significantly. The worst that would happen is it won't work. Just backup your current APK.

Yes, it is that easy, not only on the Fire but on very many Android phones. The point is that you should have TWRP to access those files when you are locked out of the device.

Amazon's lockscreen runs as a system server. Totally separate from Android's. I was talking of disabling it so Android's takes over.

maybe for my HTC thunderbolt but not his samsung galaxy s i told him to look for that first
I'm pretty sure I have read from somewhere that phones released for Verizon by Samsung don't allow you to install non-market applications (this is requested by Verizon, so it's not really Samsung's fault). The only way to have that feature is to flash some custom rom.
I watched a video on how to root this phone and there is a one click root and the program has a button that will change it so it will allow non market apps but I want to know if it has to be rooted or not to do it
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
For non-market apps your device doesn't have to be rooted.
Only if you want to use apps that require root.

So, what adblock solution do you use? Since Google banned adblockers from the play store I have been using AdFree, but after I upgraded to KitKat it's no longer working.
Are there any other apps worth using or a hosts file provider you know of?
Thanks!

The idea is nice enough, but I really like the hosts file solution as it blocks all ads system-wide regardsless of app.
Might return to it if I can't find an alternative, thanks.

I have read about it, and are usign it for my browsers on the PC, but can it block ads even in apps and videos?
CrashROM has a host enabled adblock app, can't remember off the top of my head which it is, but it works well also.

Yes. And yes. It's a complete ad block as complete as it gets. It's got a perk in that it doesn't even need root! (Although it DOES work better with root)
It has options to allow non - intrusive ads too. Which is actually helpful that it blocks all ads that are annoying and let's correctly used ads stay so that good developers get their money too

AdAway for me, working great on omega 7.2 rom on 4.4.2 :good:
In the past I have themed a lot of my phones to my liking using my own themes, I won't be doing that with this phone since it has its own theme system but I do want to start making custom fonts (I may even be able to get us iPhone/stock Android emojis.) In order for me to do this though I need to see how Samsung packages their font apks to be used in the system, and for this I need the APK which is located in the system folder. I'm not going to be rooting this phone because I use Samsung pay so I need someone with a rooted s7 to go into the system folder and locate the font apks and upload one (any of them should work, but just to be on the safe side I'd prefer the default.) Thanks in advance and let's hope this works!

1. I can't find it
2. Even if it is a zip it could very well just be that the publisher put tff files in it, that does no good here as that requires root to set those files. The approach I am going for would allow you to install new fonts without the need for root.

Im having issues recompiling. After doing some research I've found that it cant be done on stock system like ours. The OP of that thread may not be rooted, but his modified system must allow for the installation of non-signed apps.
But is there ANY way to install it on my device?
Any one?
