Sprint HTC 10 unlockable bootloader? - Sprint HTC 10 Questions & Answers

Is the bootloader unlockable on the Sprint varient of the HTC 10?
Edit: while in asking, will an unlocked HTC 10 work on sprint? Does LOS 14 work on the Sprint htc 10?

Bootloader is unlockable both officially on htcdev.com and unofficially with Sunshine ($25). I assume an unlocked HTC10 would work on Sprint as long as it has CDMA capabilities. And for the last question, it does indeed work but with some modifications.

Just curious, what's Sunshine for when you can go through Htcdev? I've unlocked the bootloader on older htc phones thru Htcdev with no problems. Have they changed the process?

Sunshine gives you S-off.

Ah okay. Will s-off be needed for LOS? I had no problems installing CM 10.1 on my HTC EVO 4G LTE with s-on. But to get cm 12 I had to update the bootloader which did need s-off.

In order for LOS to run on Verizon/Sprint variants, you have to flash a file in fastboot to modify the radio. The partition that's in is protected by S-ON so yeah you have to S-OFF. Sadly, in order to use Sunshine, you have to pay $25. I bit the bullet and bought it so I could run LOS which imo is too much for an app.

Aw man. I really want this phone but no LOS really sucks. Do you know any flagships on Sprint that LOS can be run on?

[Q] Is there an official Bootloader Unlock on HTCdev?

While checking HTCdev website
http://htcdev.com/bootloader/
I couldn't find myTouch 4g among the list of unlockable devices. Strange enough, I was able to find T-Mobile G2 which was released before the myTouch 4G. Does anyone have any idea about this? or if there is a way to officially unlock the bootloader while staying on the latest bootloader version?
There is no official unlock for MyTouch 4G, AFAIK.

Why would you want an official unlock..?
It permanantly voids your warranty ..

My warranty is already over. I've had the phone for more than a year now. Plus, with all due respect, T-mobile and HTC warranty suck!. When you send in your device, you get back an even worse one. I've had the experience of returning four devices (not bad screen related).
HTCdev.com if for any HTC device, released after September 2011.
If I helped, give thanks, if you please.

Also even if you could officially unlock it you still wouldn't have true S-OFF you would have to manually flash (Through ADB) the boot.img of any ROM that is a different flavor of android.

I thought I could flash the recovery partition (CWM or others) through fastboot after the unlock. Thanks for the heads up!

You can write to the recovery partition, although that's not the boot partition which means any rom with a different kernel than the one you had will not boot...It's a pain in the ass, trust me.

This is fact. The recent warranty exchange I have done with T-mobile came with corrosion on the sim chip pins. Not a happy camper here.

I am unable to boot into bootloader on ATT model :/
Lol as expected from Sprint and AT&T. Dont get me wrong, i wish they had bootloader unlocked because the more bootloaders unlocked for different carriers, the more chances to duplicate the amount of developments/roma/mosa/kernels etc.... Now, having only Tmobile as the only one with unlocked bootloader, well, devs who use carrier such as AT&T and Sprint might get further away from developments on LG V20. (I'm a LG V20 Tmobile variant owner)
im not to familiar with LG, but the correct way is to power off the device, hold volume down, insert USB cable?
one would think even if locked, it could still enter the bootloader. adb works, and when i reboot recovery, i get to recovery, but when selecting reboot bootloader, the device starts. interestingly enough, it will enter in adb sideload mode
With Google obviously not wanting unlocked handsets or rooted handsets to be common... This kind of thing is going to be the norm. Best to adapt, in the long term. The days of modding are being ended by Google

For the time being. As SafetyNet gets more common, Google will quit making them unlockable.
Granted i preordered my v20 expecting to run it unrooted stock.

Well, it's really only sprint, at&t, and more than likely Verizon. Fastboot mode doesn't even exist on the phone through the production software. T-Mobile is completely unlockable...

So this means no recovery for sprint variants, but is there still a possibility of systemless root using the LG up or bridge programs?

He said it was based on jcadduono's work and if jcadduono has a thread on here about getting root shell to push recovery on the TMobile variant after unlocking the bootloader.
time to return it!
Just a thought. A method over use getting around big red in the past . I purchased unlock able version of the the phone I wanted the note 5 . Umocked it rooted it . Then got my carriers Sim card and called to get it activated. It can be a pain but it can be done

AT&T Bootloader Unlock

I'm considering getting a G6 from AT&T and I'm curious if there's any chance it'll be unlockable. I haven't had an unlockable bootloader in three phones now and really missing it.
yeah you can count out on that on ATT\ VZW

"count out on it" is a confusing way of saying 'no'. but thanks for the response. this is sadness
It shows that I can unlock my G6 from the developer menu like you do for the Nexus devices. I haven't hit the button yet since we don't have TWRP or Root.

But if you run
Fastboot oem unlock
It won't work, most likely. All phones have that option

Would be worth a shot. I have the option on my S7A but I don't have proper fast boot because Samsung <.<
IF it does get unlocked and rooted ill buy another.
Not sure why so negative. The LG v20 is currently being supported by team lineage along with older g5 g4 g3 g2 and older LG tablet. For the price the G6 is going for right now on at&t half off this month only I'm certain this is the best time to get in on new technology that's currently missing from my G3
The zero development for this device is why I'll be going back to HTC with the U 11.
the 870 bootloader was just unlocked by LG.... hopefully they follow history and unlock the US version next (870 is European I believe)
Greg
Let me know. LG-H871
I wish my h871 unlocked

ATT VoLTE and relock bootloader?

Before I get this phone. Does anyone on AT&T know if they white-listed this device for VoLTE?
Also, can we re-lock the bootloader like Nexus Devices or once the bootloader is unlocked it can never be re-locked again?
Thanks

You can relock the bootloader if you want to unroot and return to stock.

Thanks I posted the question there..as I did not get a definitive answer. When I say relock, i want the behavior like the Nexus phones where it will do another wipe after the fastboot lock and fastboot mode shows correct lock status. Used to have one plus 1 and once unlocked you could never relock the bootloader..

par for the course w/ that company. I think they have taken the mantle from Verizon as being the biggest jerks. If it wasn't for their iPhone business, they'd be sunk. They have done a fabulous job of raising the prices of all things DirecTV too. ugh.

Yes but you need to be s-off. And if you're on nougat, only way to get s-off would be for you to mail in your device to the Sunshine team.
You can downgrade to android 6, and use the sunshine apk to gain s-off, and use the tutorial for convert to unlocked version
