I got the Red tint s8+ its worst around edges. Anyone here having the same issue? :crying:
Sorry to hear about this on your new phone.
There is a thread about this here - https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/how-to/red-discoloration-samsung-galaxy-s8-s8-t3591325
Samsung have advised that using the RGB sliders within the settings may help resolve the colour imbalance. Try this perhaps? And let us know if it works for you?

i tried the RGB sliders under settings and it helps a little but i have to move RED sliders all the way down. Something is definitely not right here.

My 8+ does and it's nasty. Very annoying. I'm calling tmo tomorrow. It's not noticable when you look at it straight on. When you tilt it to the left and tilt the top meaning looking from the bottom.
My screen is red, very noticeable. The slider helps, but it's only available in Adaptive mode, which isn't my preference. Pretty sure I'll be exchanging mine

You can be the judge. I've attached what my S8+ look like next to my s7 edge. I am not sure why the iphone camera makes the s7 so green but the s7 edge is perfectly normal and has the best whites.

Mine is fine. I did turn the red down a bit to make the white point (color temp) more white. Damn my S6 was warm. Always thought it was white, lol
Starting to feel better that I didnt get the S8+ now...
Least it seems on my S8 no red tint luckily.
Im getting red tint too around the edges.

I have this annoying yellow tint on my S4's screen, but disappears when the phone is tilted over 45 degrees. Is this faulty ? Shall I return it ? Or is there a way I can fix the gamma through an app without rooting the phone ?

Mine doesn't look like that, sorry. But I have lag. ):
Is it just in Chrome?
Try Chrome Settings ---> Developer Tools ---> Uncheck 'Enable Tilt Scrolling'
@raqball nope this is found everywhere, even instagram and facebook.
Ah, no clue then sorry..
@raqball can you do a quick check with yours, similar to the one I did and let me know what you get ?
Go to settings display screenmode and use something else other than adapt display. Im currently using dynamic and my tint is gone.
ATT S4 Rooted. Beastin.
4.2.2
I had it on standard all this time (including screenshot) .. Putting it on dynamic gives the same result :
Damn I was hoping it was that because it fixed it for me. Maybe a hardware issue?

@stevehkim I'm not sure tbh .. thanks for the suggestion though. It's quite annoying after I realised that it exists ... Didn't bother me before I noticed it :\
I found an app called Screen Adjuster but its not really efficient.
I had this with my S3 and got used to it. I was told in those forums that this is just how these AMOLED screens are made.
My display is perfectly white though... Side by side comparisons between the Note II, Microsoft Surface RT (perfect white display), and a Sony HDTV. My S4 beats or meets them all.

Can you post a picture comparing your screen to a laptop's screen ? I just want to see how different it looks. Also, do you suggest I return it to the store and get another one ?

Acer 24" LCD Monitor vs S4
I'll do one of my Surface or TV later.
I made a Pure White image to use for testing on the S4, use it instead of Chrome which uses a grey color in it's UI and for some reason the S4 screen brightness dims on Chrome automatically (and you can't change it). Download it if you want to do comparisons again.

After having gone through s6s s6 edges edges + and now my s7 edge and we are talking about a lot of devices I am not surprised to find pink green discolorations at part of my screen anymore.
All of them had it save for one. One device out of 20+. I will probably keep this because everything else seems fine but I can't believe we are still plagued by tints. Mine is an invariable pink and green on whites and greys.

They do change on an angle but face first there are a few pink spots and a few green spots.it is not a rainbow on angle effect.
I noticed one edge is a bit pinkish than other. I had issues like this with LG and moto it's most likely a qhd display issue as I only had the issue on them types, it don't bother me that much but no phone will be perfect as long it's not standing out alot

Bottom, more pronounced at bottom right corner. No biggy but t since none else suffers from this I will ask for a replacement
I'm well aware of the issue ( I went through 7 Galaxy S6s last year and never found a perfect one), but my S7 edge is perfect, or at least close enough to perfect that I can't see any tints without going looking for them with a microscope, which I won't do.
neither does mine
I went through 3 s6s on this issue. My s7e does not have it. Pretty uniform. Was the first thing I checked.
I swear I am not going through a microscope. There is a big pink blotch on my phones bottom.
Also the phone arrived dead on battery. Wondering if that is the only one with that? Ordered straight from Samsung.
Either mine doesn't have it, or its so low for me to notice
I'm sure there will still be a few unlucky ones who have it this year, but by and large it seems Samsung has really improved the uniformity of their displays this year. Finally. Of course next year they will probably up the resolution to 4k and reintroduce the tint issues.

Listen 3:38 minute this video, why all edge have discoloration on the edge? Because when you see the screen in the front the edge are the side, all edge have this problem and s7 don't.

as far as i can say its a "luck of the draw" if your screen is perfect or not. chances are high you get no "center cut" panel, so you will have non-uniform screens...
Hi Guys.
I have a problem about my S8's screen. There is a yellowish gradient tint at bottom of the screen. My screen exactly looks like this ;

Does anyone has this problem? Is this a faulty screen or is there a cure for my display problem in phone settings?
Seems unbalanced. I do know Samsung tech recalibrated my screen making it a bit more yellow and green.
I would normally recommend to bring it to Samsung for repair, but unfortunately they are not that willing to do anything about the screen problems. I was a bit lucky, although they also made it less bright. So I have my sliders higher by default. In direct sunlight it does fire up all the way.

This yellowish tint became so irritating. White balance options in phone settings didnt help at all. So i went to samsung tech service this morning. I left my phone in there. Lets see what will happen...
Yeah, mine is not too bad in adaptive after that. Although the red slider acts the same. They really have too much red which samsung can't change. But the rest they can. Less yellow or green. Or more depending on the device.

Hi... I am sorry that you experiencing same problem as mine.
Yes, tech service replaced my phone with new one. This yellow tint is clearly caused by faulty screen. I said to tech service “Open a full white background then cover just the middle of the screen with your 4 fingers and look at the color difference between top and bottom of the screen.”

Hi DaggerStroke,
Its a Basic problem and can be resolved easily
Go To: Settings-Display-"Turn Off" Blue light filter
i keep seeing the blue tint screen option pop up as a solution but thats not always the case why would anyone just hit that even if by accident i dont see how but thats not the case for me and my screen is off white ive read that on some phones its a factory misplacement of the screen so only fix would be to trade it in
Good day! I've purchased s8 yesterday and found one annoying thing. When i'm setting some dark wallpaper (using Samsung Themes), it looks fine, but when using Edge panel or on lock screen, when background image is blurry, some particular dark areas are not so smooth, they are looking like some high-compressed image, dark square artifacts. Is my display defective? Or is it a common issue? Please help...

I was hoping that the problem was in using wallpaper with not so good quality (found one with little to no artifacts), but then in completely dark room even there i found one place with those artifacts
Can someone please check this image set as wallpaper? On a lock screen, when you are prompted to draw a pattern to unlock your phone, look at blurry wallpaper in a dark room with brightness set to medium. On my phone i see those wierd artifacts.

Could you please try to use edge panel in a dark room ( i used bathroom with the lights out) with medium brightness?
And unfortunately you cannot capture it on screenshot, would you be so kind just to tell me if there anything wrong with the image?

I've asked for help on different forums, and i've been told that it can actually be something of a normal state, amoled displays are great at showing black color, but grey-ish in low lit environment and with low brightness can show this simptoms. So i don't know, maybe we should just ignore it. I'll continue research on that subject.
Same here!
No, that's not just your phone. I have the same problem with my s8+ too. All black wallpapers that I've used with bright objects in it causes that annoying 'artifact.' I see it whenever I had to put my PIN on my phone in a dark room. It is annoying! other than that, everything seems ok so i'm guessing that it's caused by a bug.
I think my S7 edge has finally bitten the bullet unless anyone has any suggestions? After almost bang on 4 years of ownership and wonderful faithful performance I wouldn't have considered getting rid. Yes, the battery is a bit weaker than it used to be and the camera is ageing everyday, but it was still a very decent phone to use.... the best phone I've ever owned tbh (longevity unmatched).
Unfortunately:
When charging (switched off, right hand side you can just see the little circle):
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Booting (flashing like it's having a seizure)
Switched on, brightness not at absolute highest
I can just about make it work if I set the brightness to the absolute highest (past the warning regarding brightness levels) but the left hand side of the screen flickers dark and bright a lot and it's not usable for long periods.
With a black screen, you have this brightness difference between left and right
I am guessing the OLED screen has finally packed up. Always on Display actually works okay.
Are there any suggestions?

Can do, although I'll be honest I don't see how a reflash would fix it, especially as it's doing it on the immediate boot logo which is before the ROM right?
I'm already preparing for the worst. Gutted though. Found my old Redmi Note LTE..... god it's crap in comparison.
Need to work out whether to buy a phone now or wait for a few months until some decent 5G models come out at a price I like.

The same behaviour in DL mode. It's goosed and if we're honest, a screen replacement isn't worth it.
I've been trying out the Redmi Note LTE today, which to be fair, I ****ed off for the S4 and it's fair to say I know exactly why I stopped. I know Xiaomi make great phones these days but my word they were in their early days back in 2014 or so. It's so so bad.
The S7 Edge works, more or less, on full brightness mode only. So I will continue to use it, badly, until it does finally day or until the right 5G phone comes out.
it's the worst time for my phone to die
