Warranty avoided? Help! - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hi everyone! Few days ago my S7 Edge felt down and hit the ground... Luckly, the display didn't break. However, it has two little marks. One is in the top right corner and another one beside the SIM's tray. I wonder if I have my warranty avoided... What do you think? Thank you! (I attach two photos)

No, they are hardly noticeable and Samsung understands little accidents may happen.

That really calms me down :crying: ... I posted it on a forum of my country (htcmania.com, Spain) and they didn't give me good news about the incident... From my point of view it doesn't look good but I post it here to see opinions from other users from other countries! Thanks

budan although i see you've taken time to self sensor please remember this is an all ages forum. try to calm down on any profanity at all
That is a heart breaker, so sorry for you man.
I pay extra for insurance, but not sure if that kind of break is covered.
Trust me I do not want to test it.
good luck
there is a thread about brocken hd2 around here (i think in 'HD2 Accessories'), where the have a link to an ebay seller whos dealing with complete housings/screens and so on.
so good luck.

i allso dropped my hd2 yesterday . not badly damaged, but since is 16 bucks i will order anyway.
tnx alot men
im just angry appologies for profanities
Oh god, sorry for you man
Here I found a body not so expensive
P.S. I'm new so I can't post any outside links... Go to cnn.cn and look in the tabs HTC > HD2 and you'll directly find the body
Bloody expensive things haha, I hope you get it sorted.

I cracked my screen...i almost cried!!

well i didnt but my little girl did......just dropped it off the sofa and wham gone....had a rubber case on and screen protector but that just stopped the cracks from spreading to only half way up the screen.
no insurance = oh dear what to do...so ive just insured it through me bank and hope i can get it fixed...but i sure am going to miss it while its away
ohhh dear
feel sorry for you but seriously people insurance is a must.
I hope your bank doesnt make too much of a fuss about you insuring it then immediately claiming.
personally I dont use a screen protector, I had one on for a while but I just got fed up with the extra reflectiveness and the edges being a bit raidsed (it wasnt a particularly good quality one but I havent heard much better about the more expensive ones)
I use the leather case it came with but somehow whenever I drop it, it never seems to be in. So far no smashed glass yet though probably thanks to a carpetted house. But I do have insurance in the event that it does happen.
anyway good luck with your claim and i hope it doesnt take too long.
yeah i hope so 2....i got to wait 15 days before i can claim so just av to go back to my omnia for now.ill give it a few week before i stick a claim in!
i know my little 1 wont be playing with it again though thats for sure!
my friend who works at the shop sent me this picture.
a customer droped it on the tarmac...
sad...
sorry, double post
Given you will probably have to pay a £100 excess you might want to hunt around for a repair shop. I haven't used them but you could try Undercutter.co.uk repair and return for £85.
policy covers first £30 for excess so hopefully not to bad! if i could do it myself with the right parts i would but i aint no expert!
Hey folks ! You really think it is wise to discuss insurance-tweaks in length here ? As with facebook, companies do a thorough search in funny places, also fora.
Maybe ask the Admin to del this thread ? Just in case .............
I broke mine too, looked exactly the same as the one above, (guy who dropped it on the tarmac).
I rang up my bank waited about a week after I insured it and claimed and only paid 10 pounds
Its all good now. They actually replaced the handset and didn't bother repairing it.

Unlike facebook people dont use real names on xda and there is a lot more identifiable info on facebook than a forum, there is really no way a link could be made from a forum post to an insurance claim unless they posted a lot of personal info in said forum post.

Anyone know if you can take out phone insurance from your bank in the U.S.?
Insurance fraud... Really classy.
Yeah, not the best thing, although I really need to take insurance as I've been risking it for four months so far...
For future, all I can recommend is a phone-wallet like this: I never like cases but at least this way, I feel it's serving a double purpose, and it's protected in all cases.
Personally I love it, and it was £4 off ebay.
Anyway, good luck to all

how far was your screen separation?

I'm noticing very very slight lift on the left side of the screen from my staples purchased n7. For those that have dealt with screen separation, how noticeable was it? I'm wondering if its starting to go or I'm just noticing it..
I got my shipping notification from google last night. I'm thinking that I'll return the staples n7 and deal with google if the shipped n7 has any problems. They seem to be very good about exchanges whereas staples might be a little easier to deal with a straight return.
Thanks!

OMG I'M RUINING YOUR DAY. Grow up. If you don't have anything constructive to add, don't post. I did a search for my specific question. Another thread came up with a response from you. It wasn't helpful there either. Just Lou, did your N7 have screen separation?

Please see my 'grow up' statement. You're not being helpful at all.
Neither are you starting the 87th thread on screen separation.
Maybe 1/5 to 1/3 of a millimeter. Very, very small amount I wouldn't have known most likely had it not been for the great threads on the subject around here. You have to hold it up to the light and look at a specific profile angle to see it.

Poll: Do you have a scratched display?

Who has experienced scratches on their new S6 Edge? I know this has been discussed on various threads, but no one has seemed to have actually gathered statistics about how widespread this might be/is.
EDIT: This probably might belong in the Q&A section and not here, if it does a mod can feel free to move it!

Forum poll would be preferred. I don't have a google+ account, and would be easier to just keep everything on here.
Edit: Nevermind see it
Forum poll already exists im this thread. Look at first post - use web view (not working in Tapatalk)
It looks like a third of owners from TMO have a scratched screen. This is a big deal. People may want to wait and buy one at the store to make sure it is scratched free.

Definitely. Hopefully though when orders from AT&T/Verizon/Spring/others start coming in we'll be able to get a bigger picture of this whole situation. Maybe it's just a T-Mobile thing... wishful thinking?

Can any non-TMobile users chime in here? I know all the other major carriers are starting to or have already shipped units out.
i would say this is likely to be skewed results, the people with scratches screens, at least on google+, are prolly more likely to respond to this than ppl without scratched screens. Either way though, 30% on that poll saying scratched screens is a tad disconcerting..

I'd beg to argue the complete opposite - this poll is posted in the general forum, so any S6 Edge owner will come across it. Compared to the g+ poll, where you'd have to search pretty heavily to find it (at least in my case) which would generally imply you have that issue yourself - I don't spend my free time searching the internet for problems with the Flex 2 or Moto x Hopefully when more and more people get their devices we can start to paint a bigger picture about this whole situation.

The poll is critically flawed however.
It presumes those voting actually have an S6 Edge.
The fact anyone can tick yes or no without validating they actually have an S6 Edge makes any result scientifically untenable.
Anything so open to abuse without validation of proof will never be capable of truly being representative, or accurate. In a court of law, your evidence would be inadmissible.
Additionally it assumes that equal amount of people who get good and bad devices would be looking at a thread for pre-scratched screens when history as proved that those people with issues are far more likely to search and find threads than those which do not have issues with their device. It's called the distortion field of truth.
So as interesting as poll results like this are - they sadly will never ever be really indicative of a whole.

You may be right but I find it interesting it has been a steady 70 to 30 ratio since the first 10 votes. I did not expect such a steady result.

I never said these polls are completely accurate and I completely agree with what you're saying. But since there's no easy way to ensure people who are voting actually have the device, I feel like it's better to have some poll going than have nothing at all, because I highly doubt Samsung will have users "take a survey".
And maybe it's just me, but I still seem to have just *a little* faith in humanity - I like to think that people aren't being complete a-holes and ruining the polls just for fun -_-
Sadly one more for the yes choice.
Make sure you guys look at the screen under sunlight. I thought mine was perfectly fine in-store.
My phone, as well as my father's phone, both SM-G925i 64gb one black and one white, purchased in New Zealand, are fine and have no scratches on the screen out of the box.

Need a repair

If this is the wrong place to post this I apologize and please let me know where to post or kindly move the post.
Long and short no device protection plan at all. Looking for someone experienced from the community to replace the display. Looks like the glass isn't broken. It looks like the LCD/digitizer died. Phone fell (in case). Doesn't light up at all except for the flashlight but appears to turn on etc. power button is a bit mangle as well. If someone can give me an idea where to look or a ball park price I'd be grateful.
I've looked online and I do not have the skill to try this one myself.

Check this place out,https://www.replacebase.co.uk/ all oem parts and do most parts needed for the nexus 6p, i think its about 120 ish pound for a new lcd and miframe assembly.
hope that helps
Thanks for the tip. I'm not in the U.K. and I'm looking for someone who's done this kind of repair before. From what I've read and seen it's not an "easy" job.

Well, to start with you may get more helpful replies if you put your location and carrier in your profile, making them visible so people know where you're from rather than saying "thanks, but I'm not from the UK".
I meant no disrespect to anyone. I'm in the us (Pennsylvania). Phone was direct from Google/Huawei and was being used on att.
Thanks for suggesting I add that info. I didn't think about it.

It's cool.. none taken! There's no harm in putting your home town in your profile. There are a LOT of ppl on XDA and someone may know a good local repair shop in your immediate area. Best of luck.
Order the lcd and try the repair yourself, the hardest part is opening the thing, when mine broke, i ordered the lcd and a new housing which came with everything i needed, once it is opened the swapping of stuff over was the easy part, but as i was replacing the the lcd and housing, i didnt mind damaging the existing housing to get the thing apart, and when i was finished i had a brand new looking phone and only took around an hour or so to do it, youtube has some good videos on it. A new housing isnt expensive and you can learn a bit about your phone aswell. i made mine into a black and silver version. lol
