Hopefully!!!!!
Well, this notice may be shown for next week. Something has happened, but MR1 is still unavailable at last... But I still hope that it will be released today.

Where's the link? Am i blind? http://www.sonyericsson.com/update don't come up with anything new and a "Update service" tells me I have the latest software.
EDIT: Aha, a refresh of http://www.sonyericsson.com/update gives "Coming soon. Come back later". Later this spring, year, decade? A "march update" should really be out in march and it scares me SE seems to be working on the update to the very last minute (or even longer?), will it be as good as SE (and customers) planned for?
Yes, this is because MR1 isn´t available now! SE only says that: Comming soon... But when is soon ?
surely we all know by now that when a company says "march" it means it could be march/april/may lol. especially with software. they can only guess when they will finish theres no definate science to it. if theres a delay its because theyve not finished ironing out any bugs not because they cant be bothered to let us have it. the main thing is we know theyre serious about supporting the X2 and its on the way...
remember this isnt just an update to fix bugs its also an upgrade to wm6.5.2 so im sure they have their fair share of headaches making sure all existing software works with the newer operating system.
What the hell. Why make a topic saying it's available when it's not.
You could of said "it's coming soon"
I just brought a Xperia X2. Tomorrow it arrives.
I expect to install the MR1 Update as soon at it gets it.

I guess your post is addressed to me so here's my answer:
Companies says this and that and you say we (their customers) have to accept whatever bull**** they throw at us. This should be because of some new born truth, when they say yes they mean no, perhaps or even yes? Well, you, me and many of the users here have been ****ed over and over again so now it's ok?
I can just think how this sort of behavior would be accepted if it concerned delivery of your new car for example. You could probably accept a delay if your told in reasonable time. But if the car dealer did a ostrich putting the head in the sand you'll probably go bullocks, just as I do now over SE. As a comparison, look at Microsofts "patch Tuesday", is it ok for them to send out patches at Thursdays instead?
SE officially said February 2: "In March, we’ll launch our first upgrade" and February 26 they narrowed the release down to, if I remember the exact phrase, "late March". It can be read/seen at http://xperiancers.com/ Nowhere can we see or read about any delay and with that information provided by SE we should expect nothing other than a March release. You me and everyone we know perhaps knows this isn't so but we should never accept it.

If this is supposed to be a joke. Do you hear anyone laughing in here? I'll give you my final comment tomorrow.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that the last post at xperiancers.com is that they're shutting down (remember the ostrich?) Ok, they say they moving to the product blog. Well head over there for yourselves and see if you can find any posts or even a X2 category. Not a sound of any delays.
5 hours 20 min left...
In 5 hours 20 min... Sweden turns april and no MR1 in sight!!
My X2 had some problems with camera and no memorycard and performance issues. My old HTC Touch Pro in some way better... Windows phone 6.5, hmm not impressed yet. If Mobile 7 don't "rock" (with new phone) Android or other OS is my new choice...
It says on the SE site:

Makes me feel anger towards sony's marketing department.
I am 99% sure it will come next week (at least for Russia, don't know about others) (it is not 100% info, but it is close to it).
Can't wait to test it on X1
On the official Polish fanclub of Sony Ericsson, one admin wrote that the update should be available this week. He attached two pictures with radio and videocalling added.

no my previous post wasnt particularly aimed at anyone. it seemed that people where taking the "march" release date a bit too literaly. yes they did say march but we've all owned phones and other technological goods long enough now to know that when a company says a release date its not set in stone. no matter what the item or product, when delivery is involved its always sensible to factor in a bit of leeway for unforseen circumstances unless a specific exact time and date are promised. and in this case it wasnt. it was just a notice on a blog. until a specific date is announced then its sensible to assume that march could mean begining of april.
the only way a company can give a firm date about something is if it was finished and ready to go. eg a car or something physical that has a manufactureing lead time. they can give an exact release date because it takes a measurable time to manufacture the finished tested product and they know exactly how long it will take.
with software updates you can release it the day its finished testing. theres no lead time or manufacturing delay. so when they announce a release date 3months in advance its just a best guess because theyve obviously not finished it when they made that announcement. theres no way they can guarentee that date, they cant foresee every problem that arises. they can only give best guess assuming everything proceeds smoothly. if the release date arrives and the software is still buggy then theyre goin to delay the release to give the customer a better product. sony havent released the update because its not ready not because they want to piss us off or because they dont care or have poor customer service. if anything it shows they value their customers because theyre not willing to fob us off with a crappy buggy firmware release.
from all indications and the notice on the sony website it does seem that the update is very close. if they get it out first week of april then im not going to fuss over a couple of days. but if it takes longer than that ill gladly join the ranks of unhappy people kicking up a fuss.
with regards to there being no mention of the X2 on the new weblog its because today isnt April 1st. the X2 had its own blog so wasnt mentioned on there before. if you read the notice on the xperiancers blog you will see it says they are closing the X2 blog on april 1st which is tomorrow and then moving everything across. not sure if that means theyre moving the old announcements and posts across aswell.
"As of the first of April, we’ll shut this site down and move everything to blogs.sonyericsson.com/products then the posts from Aaron, Me, and the team at Wolfstar will continue there."
April is here, but ROM is still nowhere... Thanks SE.

Often marketing and development are not communicating very well. Like:
Marketing: "When it will be finished?"
Development: "With 20 people at the end of april."
Marketing: "OK, let's say 10 people and march."
Duh!
And S-E marketing must be really smoking weed or so, because what sensible company would release phones like Vivaz AND Vivaz Pro, X10 Mini AND X10 Mini Pro? Who would buy non-Pro version anyway?
Anyway, today I'm going to buy and try X2, so I expect myself to join the ranks of angry Xperia users :-D
(But with my demands there is no alternative save maybe for B7610 which proven to be a fail )
While speaking to a representative about the issue, she simply told me there was no official word on when 2.2 would make it to the USA. I began to go into detail, and I expressed to her that a top notch device should not be running obsolete software in less than 6 months. i asked her to explain why users were told 2.2 was coming soon back in september. after a while of talking, she finally told me that she "understands my frustration" and that 2.2 would be coming "in the upcoming days"
to me, this sounds better than the "upcoming weeks"
I also read in the epic forums that theres a rumored date of December 26th. As a skeptical XDA reader, I dismissed it as rumor. However, the comment from the representative is making me reconsider that.
She also gave me a number for support which i was unaware of. Maybe if everyone calls, they'll be reminded that we are the users who bought their top of the line product less than 6 months ago.

UPDATE:
Internal docs suggest froyo release on sprint is very soon. what i want to know, is if all the carriers have their finished builds and they're waiting for samsung, or if its the other way around.
http://www.androidcentral.com/leaked-image-confirms-epic-4gs-froyo-update-starts-dec-26
Speaking as someone who has worked cell phone customer service and tech support... Do you know when the reps will know when 2.2 is shipping? When they sign in for the day and get a call from a customer saying they received an update notification.
does anyone really care when it's actually released? With all the different flavors of ROMS you can install, who on here is actually waiting for the official anymore?
I care. I don't use other ROMS. I can't take the risk. I use my phone daily for business use and personal use. I need a stable, fast, and responsive phone that works the way it is expected to work. ROMS are great, and if I was a kid in high school or college I would use them, but now I need to have stability. The ROMS aren't stable and they are in a constant state of flux. There are way too many versions and flavors and I don't have the time to test and debug all of them. They don't have 24/7 technical support behind them. The official 2.2.1 will be stable and will have the technical backing. So, yes, I am waiting patiently for the official update to be sent to my phone.
Yeah seriously. Good for you bro, I'll proabably be running Gingerbread once you get your Froyo update. Take matters into your own hands and upgrade, or just stop, she told you that to get you off the phone. *******. Plus a little heads up, but 2.2 is not an OTA update, you'll have to DL and install yourself. It's not always as easy as a little popup window with an OK button.

How are they "unstable" The custom ROMs have issues yes, but so does the Official releases.
Most Dev's will help you, or anyone on here if you have problems, it's not hard. If you want to wait by my guest, but you'll probably be waiting longer than you think. Stop worrying about when you'll get the official and just load up a ROM or stick with your JI6 or JFD and wait..
@presence and joe
Some people have things to do. I personally like roms, but they are NOT stable. It is an absolute joke that a high end device will not run software of a current iteration. Also, I don't appreciate being called an idiot. I've been rooting since the G1, and I've used more roms, hacks, and mods than you could count.
The fact of the matter is that a company is offering NO support on a high end product. This is bigger than a stupid phone, it's the fact that large companies can lie in order to move a product, then ignore their own customers.

Perhaps XDA DEVELOPERS is not the site for you?
Not to sound harsh... Also, I realize it's just out of ignorance (honesly dont mean that to be rude), but if you would try one of the custom froyo roms you would probably realize how much better your phone can be. I've never had a FC or an app not work.... better gps... better signal... better battery....
The latest leaks might very well be the official froyo.....
What you got from the T-Mobile rep is just another post in the line of heard it from my uncle's, sister's friend's dog's vet kind of thing.
But, the Epic rumor does seem real, so that might be a good sign for us.
Plus, reports are the JL5 is very polished.

Stella: Hi, thank you for contacting Samsung Technical Support. How may I help you today?
Matthew: Hello
Matthew: I was wondering about the 2.2 update for galaxy s?
Stella: Hi Matthew.
Stella: I understand that you are looking for Android 2.2 update for your Samsung Mobile. Am I correct?
Matthew: That is correct
Stella: Thank you for the confirmation.
Stella: Unfortunately, as of now Android 2.2 is not Officially released in US.
Stella: Once it is released, it will be notified on the Samsung Website. You will get the notification on the phone over the air from your carrier Server.
Matthew: I've heard since I got the phone in July that 2.2 was on the horizon. It was supposed to be mid september.
Matthew: then by mid october
Matthew: and finally early november
Stella: I can understand that you have been waiting for so long for the update
Stella: Unfortunately there is no update available at this time for your phone, nor is there an estimated date of one being released. We are unable to speculate when/if a software revision might be available due to the fact that this might lead to inaccurate information and confusion.
Matthew: I see
Matthew: but now i hear from samsung officially that 2.3 will not be available
Stella: Unfortunately, We in Samsung do not have the exact information of future updates or releases.
Matthew: the phone is less than 6 months old and can't get updates anymore?
Stella: I apologize for the delay.
Stella: However, the update should be released in upcoming days.
the chat continued and then:
Stella: I recommend you contact Samsung Voice Support at 1-877-EZ2GALAXY (1-877-392-4252). They are available Mon.-Fri. 7 a.m. - 9 p.m. CST, Sat. 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. CST.
Stella: They will provide you the information in detail.
That's all I'm saying. If they know anything, and they say a few days, it just adds a little more validity to the rumors we've all grown so tired of.
Also, I have used the leaked builds since JI6 was a leak. JK2 JK6 JL1 JL4 I even used JL5 and Cyanogen mod betas. This was until I realized that I LIKE to keep my data for more than a week before having to flash to stay up to date.
BS to the "not stable" roms.
run stock jk2/jk6/jl4 etc. and see what 2.2 really has in stock form--NEVER a FC or issue. You want 2.2? FLASH IT.
"The upcoming days" is simply business speak for "eventually, but I really have no idea when. It might be literally a couple days, or it could be months."

I flashed custom ROMS the second they were available, however this is not an acceptable solution for a business. "DIY" is not end-user support.

None of these are stable. If they were stable, Samsung would have released them. All of them have failed Samsung's and T-Mobile's internal testing for one reason or another. Yet, they are put into ROMS with little or no testing. Not to mention the ROMS don't actually fix things. They rely on fixes from Samsung engineers in order to improve.
When you read issues about ROMS where MMS doesn't work, or volume buttons don't work, that is a big issue. That is not stable. I respect the ROM community. They do a great service for phone users itching for the latest and greatest. From a business perspective however they cannot be used. Business users can't have major features of phones not working. They can't be forced to have to reenter their data.
When a 2.2 upgrade passes Samsung and T-Mobile internal testing, then it will be released and will be supported. That's when I will upgrade, and that's why I want an official upgrade.

When your in a business that you have to use your phone alot, I wouldn't be messing with it and he's correct about devs relying on samsung for all, of this. The froyo leak gave all the devs a chance to start on froyo.

I myself do not feel like reentering data or reinstalling apps every 3 days. the rom community is great. and it worked fine for my G1 when cyanogen came out with a rom every month or two. but there are several new roms every week. each with a minor, but still existant issue. I love roms. and if i had another phone, I'd use one for roms and the other for stable, official releases.

It actually does seem like a Motorola problem now that we've seen how quickly Verizon can get software updates out. I'm a little bit annoyed but after seeing how many bugs are in the current 5.0 update and how many user complaints there have been, I'm more than happy to wait for this 5.1 update if that's what it takes to get a proper working phone.

Those other sources merely parotted androidpit.
Bad case of blogger-itis.
No, Google Senior Software Engineer Chet Haase was spotted running it on his device at Devoxx and there was a slide of it showing during the conference while Google itself on its own forums is saying it will be coming sooner rather than later. The pit isn't the most reliable source and sometimes like other "leakers" I think they just take their best guess and throw it out there saying they heard it somewhere but in this case it appears they may actually know something.
Personally I don't worry about it, I'm old, I like KK, and am running LP on another device anyways. Unlike a lot of people I find LP more window dressing than anything else and in some ways a step backwards in the name of collecting iphone converts. Thats the gist of a different thread...

Show me?
Edit: nevermind. People are just noting mr1, which is a branch name, and that was back in early November.
It should be noted that it was probably 5.0.1 and/or was an experimental branch that they worked in. This isn't unheard of and isn't an indicator of a soon release.
People are noting history where mr1 meant a .1 release. Google doesn't always follow that logic of course; Android 4.0 to 4.1 was ICS to Jellybean.
OP has one post. I wouldn't bet on anything in this thread.

I'm sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, I'm traveling and thought that I had answered the post quotes I had standing. Hard to say what "it" is but history says that when these guys are running a point release rather than a point zero release it comes to fruition. For example when 2.0 mr1 was seen in the wild it became 2.1 and when 3.0 MR1 ws spotted it became 3.1. There is another example but I cant think of it and data is major bucks where I am right now so I'm not going to search. As to the forums me about about a million other people troll googles forums reading post from google which for those that don't know is usually someone from google who jumps in the mix. I've no idea how much if any official sanction these folks have but one thing that I do know is that when these guys say something along the lines of send me "x" or "we're working on it" this means its coming soon. In truth I had assumed this leak was based on seeing Haase and the other guy from google at the conference combined with what they figured was coming based on trolling googles forums pretty much like me and everyone else does.
Is all that accurate? I don't know. I try and read what is out there and make my best guess like anyone else.

Well again, that was back before 5.0 was really out, and history has shown inconsistencies, ala 4.0 >4.1.
I'm largely unconcerned and I'm not saying I think anything. A lot of times the blogs run with information that has no support externally and one simply reposts from another. In this case there is external support although as you point out it is not strong. I'm not advocating one way or the other simply saying it exists, not that its existence means that the information is correct. I myself haven't made that leap, not enough there for me to do anything other than not immediately dismiss it as utter crap which is what I would have done without it.
Will be posibble? Will be great!
Sorry for my english
I really hope so.
And this year the preview is going to be updated every month, so there's that.
But as looking at last year with L - we never got a port. So I doubt we'll get something.
Last year whenever someone ask for a port of the preview version of L, almost all developers indicated it was meaningless to make such a port. I think this year will be the same
How can a port be made when we don't have an aosp base?
I don't see the reason to spend alot of time to get core functions to work if it will get updated and opensourced soon anyway. Q3 isn't far away so some people just have to be patient or switch over to the Nexus series. As they also said in the keynote, they made alot of changes in the core functions etc so I just don't see the point of porting it.
As an old Nexus user I can say that developer previews are what they are called, previews so they contain really bugs which will make your daily life miserable at some points of executing simple tasks on your phone.
I also notice now that XDA layout is updated again... I just don't see the point of what they did to the OP, just makes it more unclear.

ZE551ML and ZE550ML are currently being tested for Android M. It's not yet on the announcement board of zentalk but a moderator categorically replied to my thread in zentalk and confirmed that it's already starting the development stage. (see attached photo)

@ASUS_Khang, would you kindly comment on this as to how we are going to accept and understand the statement given?? Thanks
I just read that as, they are testing to see if it's capable of running it. Not that they're actually doing anything about it. I just want 5.1.1 and the lack of that is bloody annoying. Come on asus.

High expectations, high disappointment. Just like 5.1

Don't wanna be too optimistic and rude at the same time. But isn't testing it on those devices implies plan to implement. Otherwise why test if there is no clear plan of development? Again am not being too optimistic just looking at all possible angles.
Just my two cents.
I was trying to analyze the message ARP_ASUS said, if they are testing it on ZE551ML and ZE550ML. Then definitely there is a source code available and optimize already for x86 device.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but u can't test something on a x86 device if you don't have a Android M source code specifically for x86 right?
Asus is not even capable of giving us 5.1. Forget about 6.0.
Just my humble opinion.
Nothing to see on this line
Man, I sure do love Monday morning volatility and vitriol, don't you?
Short of an announcement on their official pages, I'd still take any confirmation of the Marshmallow update, even on the official forums from a mod as a response, with a bit of salt. That being said, this is quite interesting. It seems like it is a firm statement that the pre-Zenfone 2 devices will not be updated by ASUS to 6 (not extremely surprising but it's a good gauge for us as to potential expected device support longevity).
Indeed, testing implies development. There have been times in the past where a company has tested an update and, in the end, chosen not to finalize and push it out (Atrix 4g comes to mind, since the development builds were eventually leaked showing that work had been done trying to get it to work). With the relatively close system requirements changes between Lollipop and Marshmallow, that probably won't be a factor in it. I'm not sure how those x86 Intel sources factor into it, but with actual testing being done that builds up my optimism!

Yep and am pretty sure it's gonna be wild and filled with rants and complaints for the next few days in zentalk once the first gen or pre Zenfone 2 subgroup people read this and starts to sink in their heads. Lol
Not a clear road map as posted. But hey something is still better than being blind as to where zf2 is heading right??
nc and all but we don't even know if they will ever release it, just like that 5.1

Hey - I can't really comment on what that means. Testing sounds great which gives me hope we'll see Android M, but that message in and of itself doesn't sound official enough for me. Again, I'm trying to help by asking HQ a ton of questions and seeing what the plan is. These things take a ton of time because they need to go through a lot of people. All I can ask is for your patience and understanding.
I plan on following up with HQ about this.

Thanks, Keep us posted if something comes up.
I don't see why there is all this whinging about the Zenfone 2 on the forum.
It has got twice the ram and 4 times the storage of my previous phone (S4) for less than half the price of the S4.
Data and phone signals are as good or better than the S4 in my experience, and the phone is faster and smoother.
As to the ram leak, with 4gig who cares., and with 64gig internal and 64gig external I don't give a toss about the bloat.
Battery - with my usage the battery lasts 2 days, the same as my S4 now that it has lollipop.
Asus is putting out firmware updates regularly, they may not be 5.1.1 or 6.0, but if they improve the phone experience so what.
My only gripe with my phone so far is that I had to get it from Hong Kong, if Asus can sell it in France then they can get off their asses and sell it in the UK.
While I would fully expect Asus to provide an update to at least 5.1, or even 6.0, I believe in you get what you pay for. For a $300 phone, you get good bang for your buck, and I appreciate Asus having a rep stay active in the forum, Reddit, and ZenTalk.
There's nothing that says Asus has to provide this update, since it's not a Nexus device, and looking at models like Samsung LG, or Moto, it takes months to get their phones to what is or was the current iteration of Android.
I did however stick my faith in Asus for what I think is a good product, and this will be the determining factor as to if I ever purchase anything Asus again. I think a lot of people feel that way. We could have gone the Moto or even OPO route, but when went with Asus. It's up to them to keep us happy and coming back.

I saw it being sold on Amazon.co.uk, the ww version that was being shipped from Amazon UK, which is great if you have a problem and need to return it. Though I would suggest getting the US version if you are set on getting this phone, because it has more bands unlocked, which I will admit their bands are a huge plus on this phone. Keep in mind that the second sim only works on 2G voice/text and data is software blocked.
Hoping for fixing battery drain Android OS crap with 6.0

To think about it i dont have so much hope in asus
But can you like flash a dev 6.0 rom or something like that from dev for zen
To be fair, Asus is still better than the likes of Oppo - many of their phones are still stuck on KitKat.
