Something is going on with Verizon Wireless - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions & Answers

It started with Nougat update but it is also showing up before update (6.0.1) I updated to Nougat and phone would constantly revert back to Verizon Airwaves default ringtone plus wifi calling wasn't working. They agreed and shipped me out a refurbished phone which was still on 6.0.1. This phone (still on 6.0.1 not updated) will not keep the ringtone or notification sound I set, keeps going back to Verizon tones!!? Any suggestions?

Weird. I haven't experienced that at all. Maybe a new SIMM card is needed?

Are you positive? What have you done to ensure it isn't your SIMM card? You can go to the Verizon dealer and get a new SIMM card for free. Otherwise, I can't imagine what else might be causing the issue? Whenever a phone has exhibited strange behavior, and it happens with a replacement phone as well, I've swapped out the SIMM card and it fixed the issue, unless you already tried this. If you have, maybe it's something with your Verizon account? Not sure if there is some setting with say, the VZW cloud that it's restoring some weird settings? I'm reaching here because I've never heard of this type of issue before and it's baffling, but I'd like to know how it eventually gets solved.
I'm out of ideas. Hopefully someone else can give some other suggestions. I'm very curious to know if you get the issue fixed or not.
Good luck!

I am beginning to think an app I have called Sound Profile is the culprit. Always worked in the past. I went through and disabled each app one at a time for test. BUT I discovered that Sound Profile will startup after each boot regardless of the fact I disabled it in App Settings. Once I found this out I uninstalled and have been checking and rebooting for several hours now with no problems. I loved this app and hope to use it again. I'll keep updating thread.

Upgrade to 2.26.60 reset every 15-30 minutes. Any solution?

After upgrading to 2.26.60, the phone resets every 15-30 minutes.
Unlocked using GSM.
Didn't install any other apps.
Didn't root.
Any solution/suggestion?
My only guess would be to try a factory reset which might solve your problems
My phone went into something close to a death loop where it would reboot toward the end of the startup phase. It seemed like it was caused by some combination of wifi and GPS because the reboot would happen shortly after the GPS system fired up. The solution for me was to delete the Tasker app data through Settings - Applications and that seemed to correct the problem. Hope this helps.
Hmmm, I am having the same problem after the 2.26.60 update.
I also use it on GSM/UMTS mode with a SIM card. The phone works perfectly well, but every three calls placed or received it will either badly distort the sound, or reboot itself. I have an original, non-rooted phone.
Factory resetting it did not help either.
Anyone know of a way of rolling back this update? It definitely did not happen before.
Thanks!

You can go back simply by flashing the 2.26.20 SBF. You'll find a link for it somewhere on the forums.
Droid flashed back to 2.26.2. Working perfectly now.
Apparently there is a bug with the latest update and using sim gsm networks. It is a shame though not being able to update the software; especially with a brand new, original, unrooted, unmodified phone.

No Sim Card "error"

So, I have had the phone since the initial couple of batches first shipped out. No problems whatsoever, but now my SIM card is not being read at all.
Only just atarted happening a day ago. Restarting fixes it temporarily as well as removing the SIM and turning the phone off and on before putting it back in. The issue starts again after awhile and is super annoying.
If anyone else has had the issue and fixed it, I would appreciate the help.
Everything on the phone is stock. No root, flashes, etc....
Bump.
Anyone with the same issue, lol?
It really sounds like a bad SIM. Do you have another phone or SIM to test? If not, it could be worthwhile to try getting a new SIM from your carrier. Or, backup your data and do a complete factory reset and see if that fixes it.

T-mobile and updated to B29 - Problems?

So I haven't updated my phone yet to B29 but looking at the ZTE forum there seems to be some connectivity issues with T-mobile and B29. Anyone of you guys who has updated and uses T-mobile that can verify this issue? Don't want to go through the whole update process and reinstalling everything if my phone is not going to work with the update.
Cheers!
ZTE thread
I have updated and don't have any issues to report so far.
Bluetooth works, cell signal is fine, wifi is fine. Still can't use the fingerprint reader with Android Pay....

No issues on Tmobile here either...
I lost a hefty bit of connectivity in my office, T-Mobile stock after a factory reset and fresh apns
No problems for me after update. Calls are crystal. (sorta, always been crap at my house t-mobile and Verizon)
Thanks guys. I updated my phone and haven't had any issues either.
T-Mobile is good for me also. No issues.

If you have "OK Google" enabled from any screen, it messes with the microphone during calls. Disable that option in the Google app under settings, voice, OK Google. See if that helps.

There might be a software issue when you update. Try to format everything then reinstall it again.
Or you can disable OK Google service and live without it.

Factory t-mobile S7e losing mobile network connectivity

so this is the second S7e and second SIM that I have been having this issue with. The phone will lose connection to the mobile network and the ONLY way to recover is to reboot phone. Reset Network Settings doesn't do anything. Toggle airplane mode doesn't do anything. Search for Network Operators doesn't do anything. I have a third phone on the way - but has anyone around here heard of or experienced similar? Am I missing something that I should be doing to correct this?
Thanks in advance

Did you pay the $20? I didnt want to pay the 20 so i sent the device to samsung. Should get it back friday or monday. The issue is definitely phone related. Im using a verizon s7 now and no issues like that arose. I even tried new sim.. My father is having same issue t-mobile s7 edge
Yes i had to pay 20. And it's disappointing I am having this issue with the replacement phone. I am having this problem on the U firmware as well.

I've suffered the same issue from time-to-time and just do a restart....annoying as hell to be honest
Are you guys always in the same location when this is happening or is it just whenever and wherever? Or is it happening a one certain place where cell signal isn't that great? I had this same issue BUT only in my house so I had to get a network range extender from t-mobile to use at home.
This happens to me all the time. It's so annoying. At work, in the car, at home--it doesn't matter where I am. Have reset firmware multiple times and even rolled back once too. I think it has to do with the latest software because I never had this issue before the Fall/Winter. Hopefully Nougat fixes this!

I am having the same problem, this will be my 3rd phone 4th sim. I wish I knew how to fix it
I would try flashing different radios/modems, its worth a shot. Maybe try flashing the "U" firmware radios.
Nougat will fix it
My wife and I had the same issue on our tmobile s7 edge ... we got the 7.0 beta and now the issue is gone .... I bet it's radio and software related ... 7.0 will be out by the end of the month hope that helps...
I had this issue with my phone, and it was a huge pain. The biggest concern: I didn't know when my phone was off network (voice, data, etc.). The fix, for me, was simple: a new SIM card.
You may have an issue from a rejected permission on an app.
Had the same issue before but I did a hard reset and realised that I changed permissions on an app that wasn't written for 6.1.

I hope so! Been waiting for that before I try anything drastic, even though this issue is a huge pain in the ass. I'm glad others have come out of hiding to express their concerns with it as well. I thought I was the only one for the longest time having this issue.

Many of us have tried new SIM cards, but it's worth a shot if it's still not working consistently after Nougat is released.

My and my friend's phones are both running pure 100% OEM Tmo stock without any apps disabled or touched at all and we have this issue and have done multiple resets. Pretty sure it's an actual hardware defect, or hopefully just a software one with the modem/radio.

I was thinking about going that route. But I wasnt sure what condition the phone would be. How was you condition?
I sent mine to samsung and the things they replaced is the Coaxle cable "antenna" replaced 3 of them. I have been using the s7 from verizon on the U firmware so havent seen if it is fixed.

I received a refurb. Other than this problem, the phone is alright. I noticed this problem on receiving the phone it was running on T firmware. Then I switched to U firmware and radio but no difference. I called customer support yesterday, they said to go to a retail store to get the phone replaced. My worry is going through this process again and if I receive a bad device again what to do? After all refurb phones are like playing Russian roulette!

I just had this start happening on mine... I really wish they would release nougat already. It is ridiculous they won't post an Odin flashable version of the release candidate if it does indeed fix the issue.
I also think its a specific tower configuration that is causing the issue that the radio can not understand. (Maybe 3xCA). Its happening in the same areas every time.
I just started having this problem in the past month. All at once I've been getting BT sometimes turning off, mobile networks failing to reconnect after I visit a no/low signal area (such as after a plane trip when the phone was in airplane mode). I've also seen wifi mode fight my attempts to turn it back on sometimes - toggling itself on and off a couple of times per second until I poke at enough settings to stop it. When BT turns itself off I have trouble turning it back on, sometimes it just goes back on, sometimes it refuses after a number of tries and if I wait an hour it goes back on just fine.
The folks at a BB Samsung kiosk said they could reflash it if I wanted to go that route, but that the nougat release would be out soon so it might be better to just wait for that. Has anyone had a Samsung rep re-image their phone to try to solve this?

I guess I wasn't clear about that as I have several problems that are probably related, but behave a little differently.
BT dropping - can usually turn it back on, but sometimes it refuses. Usually don't need to reboot to fix this.
Wifi dropping - often have trouble turning it back on and have seen the widget toggle off and on repeatedly by itself. Sometimes have to reboot to fix that.
Mobile Network data (and voice sometimes) dropping - usually have to reboot. I think I may have recovered that once without a reboot, but the other few times it's happened in the past month since it started I have rebooted and that fixed it in all but one of the reboots - one time I rebooted and still had to fiddle with it a bit after the reboot before it came back. That may have been because I played too much with the network settings before the reboot and so had to undo that damage after the reboot. But, definitely rebooting is a fairly reliable step in fixing this problem.
All 3 started happening around the same time which is why I thought it was a software issue (I remember a small update a little over a month ago, but forget the details of it). It's nice to hear that others also have the mobile network problem, but if that is isolated in those cases then maybe I'm not seeing exactly the same problem. But, it is clear that rebooting is almost always required to get my mobile network data back so that again suggests that at least that part is the same as what this thread is discussing.
In looking at the T-Mobile updates page for the S7 Edge I see that the version I have (G935TUVU4APK1) was updated in early November - which tracks when I started having problems, and it includes a fix for "Domestic data roaming improvements", which definitely sounds like they may have played with the radios.
I am so ready for the Nougat update...

Bad reception - Delayed text messages - Rooted phone the cause?

Hello!
I have trouble with my One plus 6 t receiving text messages. I receive them a day late, all coming through at the same time in a bulk of messages the next day. I changed my sim card so T mobile doesn't seem to be the cause of it. Are these problems because I rooted my phone? If so what is the solution? Thank you!
My 6T is also rooted and at one point I has service issues (on Verizon) I tried all my mods one at a time till I figured out witch mod caused it and I was shocked to find out it was my substratum themes messing with something. Once removed all was grand. Hope this help. Go one by one through any mods in place disabling them see if it helps.

The problem is that I have a lot of apps...Did you disable them one by one? And also I realise that I receive the delayed messages 1 day after so it's not easy to check. So the problem comes from the fact that my phone is rooted? Also when I use the camera my phone closes sometimes, like 30 sec after...Very weird. Does all this come from the rooting? Never heard of this problem before.
Yes I did dilisabled one at a time and rebooted after each one. And for text delay who is your carrier I'm on Verizon and mine was delayed for a hour or so till I figured it out I'd quick text my self hi from my own number and hit home to close the messages app out so I could time the reply time.
This helped me also.

Try turning off battery Optimization See if that helps, Could be just a delay with your signal... Had that happen before, I had full signal but everything was delayed.
I have similar issue to receive delayed messages after the latest Open Beta 12. Stock message app on unrooted 6T.

Hello,
So the problem comes from the fact my phone is rooted? Yesterday it was impossible to take a video correctly for example my phone was shutting of every 30 seconds, and the mobile phone network bar disappeared, then came back and so on, like if I was losing the network every 30 seconds. I'll try to do a video of this

This is not normal. I've been rooted for months and do not have these problems. There is something else wrong
Just being rooted wouldn't be the issue. Sometimes it's honestly as simple as resetting your network settings. As for camera issues have you modified your camera in any way, possibly added a magisk module or something that isn't compatible with our phones, outdated modules can sometimes cause issues as well. It's hard to pinpoint but rooting isn't the issue as these phones were designed for rooting. It's something else entirely. You said your on T-Mobile, was it branded T-Mobile? They like to put their own bloated apps on phones that could probably cause issues too. This is why I went straight to the actual company. You get more up to date and their warranties better than tmobiles. Without knowing what's on your phone I can just speculate. But no just rooting and unlocking bootloader isn't causing this issue

I bought it from One plus directly, not T mobile. I resetted the network settings a lot of times and it still does the same thing. I noticed it happens more when several applications are opened, like when I watch a youtube video and do something at the same time. But even after closing youtube app and all my other apps, it does the same thing. On magisk I have: Busybox for Android, Energized protection, Google product sans, IOS 12.1 emoji, systemless hosts, viper4android, youtubevanced.
I've noticed that being on WiFi causes phone network issues (e.g., phone calls going straight to voicemail, text messages being delayed). This is with WiFi calling disabled, and a non-rooted phone. Really not sure what's going on here, especially because when it happens, my network signal is just fine. But if I disable WiFi, the delayed texts come in immediately. Super annoying.
This is on T-Mobile, latest beta (I think version 11).
