Which processor for U.K. - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Evening all,
I've been trying to find out which processor the UK version of the S8 will come with. I've read on a number of sites that it will be the Exynos 8895 but on a few others have confirmed it's the snapdragon?
Anyone know for sure?

Because 95% of their customers don't know (or care) what a processor is. "Eight core" is used because it's higher than four or two so prospective purchasers will perceive it as "better" therefore making the phone worth $800+.

UK get the SM-G950F model only, that has the Exynos.

Different versions of galaxy note

Samwung galaxy note comes with sooo many version...
There is the original version in 1.4 ghz processor
A korean version (like mine) packed with 1.5ghz processor, 4G LTE, a tv module and a bit thicker compared to the original
And I saw another one, galaxy note with no physical button... just 4 old school touch bottons
its really confusing and disappointing that samsung is like selling different kinds of phone in one name. And with that, its so hard to customize it because of major hardware differences..

Can anyone explain why Is this happening?
I tried to search but there is no specific thread with answers. Starting a thread would be better I guess.

The home market will always get the LTE with the TV module version. Thats what they did with the SGS II as well.
The 1.4 Ghz version with the physical home button is their international version which is sold ALL OVER aside from the U.S.
the "Old School" 4 Button one you refer to is the U.S version. Its specified that all devices they sell will have the 4 capacitive buttons to follow a schema. Also the U.S version will get a Snapdragon processor. As to the reason behind why the diff processor is unknown to me. I am sure there is some tie up or standard set behind that.
Same was the case with the SGS II variants. Aside from the ATT version of the original SGS II (not Skyrocket).
Majority of the people wont MOD their device and those who do, will come to XDA to obtain the proper MOD / ROM for their specific device.
The buttonless version it's the US at&t LTE note. Basically the same as your Korean.

The reason Qualcomm CPU is used is because it supports 4G LTE, and the Samsung Exynos does not. Sadly the 1.5Ghz Qualcomm CPU is considerably slower than the Exynos chip. Qualcomm is Cortex A8 chip, Exynos 4210 is Cortex A9 chip, which is more effective and faster.

Its not an att note. Its north American, Canada is getting the exact same version on all 3 major carriers BEFORE att even gets it. So call it north American or i717.
And why its different from n7000? Because samsungs CPU doesn't support lte. So they have to use a different CPU till they have a working lte exynos cpu.

I read lots of Korean galaxy note forum through internet and lots of people in Korea have bought international version of galaxy note because of the hardware differences and other reason is that Korean version of note comes with LTE which is amazingly fast. I mean its super fast as I saw the demo of it but you have to pay a price for it!! since its just started recently. However, because its new and there are lots of places in korea where LTE coverage is an issue as well and that is why lot of people have bought international version of note as 3g data plan is unlimited whereas LTE is not...
Samsung made so many editions. Does 1.4g CPU 2- core and 1.5g one 1-core?
I live in Montreal where Rogers is one of the first to start lte. Definitely already using it on skyrocket. Can't wait to get my note in 2 days haay.

Lucky you to have LTE deployed. In France we have to wait another two years for a reasonable deployment.
It will leave me enought time to play with my non-LTE Note and wait for a quad-core LTE version ;-)

Has the exynos processor really been given the no go in the US?

I work at at&t and was speaking with one of the higher business managers in the company for my region who talked about the S4 having a new exynos 8 core processor to blow away the competition. I asked him if he was sure of that processor and he claimed he was just telling me what he was told, but he'd get back to me on confirming that for sure.
Also, the article on engadget about the "exynos arm11" processor being spotted on that same model number interested me but I figured it was just just rumor milling to be honest until I talked to him today.
I realize the ARM11 processor doesn't match entirely, but it seems very coincidental model number wise.
Anyways, just to show I'm not trying to blowing out hot water, I also included a picture of my badge with a hello.

Hello. When / if the business manager gets back to you let us know what he tells you. Until then it just seems to be the same old speculation. If you could get your hands on definite proof (pictures of stock) and not hear-say it would be great. Again, let us know.

Will do. At this point us in sales only know as much as you guys do. Like whenever our email came out for that original 249.99 preorder price, we all thought that was for the 16 gig model just like everyone else.
So there's a possibility that AT&T could be getting the Octa variant? Wow this has been a great year to be an AT&T customer. But, anyway, I'm not getting my hopes up. Please let us know as soon as you find anything out!

That's about the Octa variant working on US bands. Not the Octa variant being offered by a carrier in the US, which is what this thread is about.

Except that's the same thing. If it can't work on US bands, no chance of being offered. If it can, then you can bet that at least 1 GSM carrier will offer it.

Until we have official confirmation by Samsung on LTE availability nothing is set in stone even if someone on XDA who has never touched the phone thinks that it is. Just for that simple fact, this thread should remain separate and is entirely necessary at this point considering that there have been a few small rumors being tossed around about AT&T getting the Octa variant.

Also that it looks like exynos has some of the same bands that att uses. Again just because it supports the band does not mean its automatically coming to att. Thats where this thread comes in place as it is said from an at&t associate here in the states.
If it really bothers you, please just dont view this thread. Thank you.

Exactly. This thread is extremely relevant because there actually is a possibility of AT&T getting the Octa version due to the bands. Until anything is confirmed, the speculation is certainly justified.

Exynos variant in the UK?

I think I'm about ready to purchase the note 4, but wondered what variants there are that work in the UK? It sounds like the exynos might be a better option if available and supported in the uk?
The N910C is Exynos and is sold in Europe ( with garanty ).
It has all the bands needed.

Wrong thread.
Exynos also has a much more modern SoC.
And @op
910C will work almost everywhere, it's the international version being sold all around the world. Yes it works on the UK.

I will cry if the Snapdragon Variant is not available in Europe !!!

Hey Guys,
I am currently using the S6 and I hate this damn piece of S*** because the phone reception and call quality is conclusively terrible compared to other devices that are using the Snapdragon Processor Variant.
Don't tell me it's not true because I have tested it. RECEPTION WITH EXYNOS PRROCESSORS IS TERRIBLE - PERIOD.
I want the Snapdragon and I am really hoping it will be available in Europe. What if it isn't? can I still by the Snapdragon and will it work on the LTE bands in Europe? Any known disadvantages?
I'd love to hear your words.
Contacted Samsung France today ... It's sadly true ... No custom ROMs for us ..
That is indeed sad but what's even more sad ais that the Exynos Variant sucks even more with cellphone reception. I had the Nexus 6P Snapdragon 810 for a few days and MAN you won't believe how much stronger the reception was.
There is no doubt at all that the Exynos variant has a significantly worse LTE Radio and for that I will simply buy the G5 after 8 YEARS OF SAMSUNG ONLY.
It's enough suffering with this crap reception, dropped and missed calls! Worthless Samsung - FAIL
NEVER AGAIN.
I live in europe and I hate exynos chipset too. Any solution to import snapdragon version??

But development of what? The exynos will have plenty of roms being made for it, except they'll most likely be based on the stock touchwiz rom. If you want aosp then you'll want the snapdragon version. But the s6 currently has an aosp being developed for it, so that will most likely be available on the s7 too in the future.

I'm not really up on the specifics, but from what I understand the international version lacks some of the LTE bands used by some carriers in North America. Also, some carriers apparently disallow volte and wifi calling under certain circumstances for foreign esn's.
Worth exploring further if you're buying from overseas and those kinds of things matter to you.

This depends on your coverage. I did do a side by side test with a T-Mobile 6t, and my international S10. We were getting similar speeds side by side.
The fastest I've gotten is 110 Mbps. Which is similar to the LTE on my previous devices. Even with CA on a 6t, you get the same or similar speeds. The only difference right now for me, was my service on a call while driving. I had a little connectivity issue while on a call recently ( just breaking up here and there).
Also, it may depend on your CSC if you have Carrier Aggregation for certain bands enabled. My XSA does not.

If #benchmarklife is your thing, then each to their own, thats cool. I like to game and the Exynos game lag experience is real. Plus the Qualcomm 4G/wifi modems are the best in industry.
I also disagree on battery life, I've done a side by side comparisson with the Exynos and SD855 - using them the way I use a phone and my SOT was around 6hrs for the SD855 and under 5 for the Exynos. I would love to see your battery stats getting 8-9 hrs SOT, because, cough, it seems, cough, a little bull**** to be honest..
Here's a good comparison between the 2 handsets, I fail to see how the Exynos is better than the SD855 S10+. But thats ok. Im sure your own benchmarks show a different story :good:

For me, ultimately, the biggest issue with Exynos in Australia is that wait for carrier firmware releases.. And I'm glad I don't have that wait. The G9750 seems to be around 1.5 months ahead of the carrier releases here for the Exynos.
Ultimately the S10+ whether Exynos or SD855 is an awesome handset. Samsung did real good :good::good:
Ok nps

If #benchmarklife is your thing, then each to their own, thats cool. I like to game and the Exynos game lag experience is real. Plus the Qualcomm 4G/wifi modems are the best in industry.
I also disagree on battery life, I've done a side by side comparisson with the Exynos and SD855 - using them the way I use a phone and my SOT was around 6hrs for the SD855 and under 5 for the Exynos.
