No offense, but why do you want so much private info, such as my full name, my birthday, etc? Make that stuff 100% optional.
Does this Nexus One have a front-mounted camera? Me wants!!!

Hey I completely understand
Birthday is for my host to confirm you are old enough to use the site
Full Name- Doesn't really matter if you use your full name you could use a username.
It's not asking for so much private info such as your address or social security number

Just one small point - while registering, we are required to answer the question "Which company does Android belong to".. I entered "it's open source software", and I was told it's the wrong software. I was able to proceed when I entered "google".
I think you should allow the answers "open source" or at least "open handset alliance" rather than just "google". Just a nitpick, though

But... Google is the company that literally owns Android. They started the concept, and now are at Android 2.2 Froyo. The answer 'Google' is perfect. Open handset is just a group that companies have joined in creating the best user experience for smartphones, and that do that with the Android platform.

Agreed that Google is a major and the most visible player in the Android arena. However, technically, since Android is an open source project, other companies can (and do?) submit code. Also, if someone refers to Wikipedia entry for Android, the company is listed as OHA. I'd suggest that the answer OHA be allowed, in addition to Google. Anyway, don't mean to hijack the thread -- it's a small issue!
kobecamp2009, if all you're trying to do is avoid automated signups, why not ask questions like other sites do -- "what is 2+2" and so on

Oh ****! Not another thread about Gingerbread!!!

Oh no, not another complaint about another thread!
Relax, it's not like i'm killing trees or taking up space by posting this. I didn't have time to go through the entire forum just to make sure i didn't hurt your feelings. A popup appeared showing possible similar threads, none of them matched, so i submitted it. No need to cry about it.

I can understand if the thread title was Google announcing Gingerbread!!!
But it's "Google announcing Gingerbread soon?"
With most thread titles, no one can tell exactly whats in the posts.
Just wait for the thread title "Gingerbread is here!!" and click no others than. Simple.

actually they are teasing with us. they just dont bother their sorry ass to give a proper release date. they just dont even care about to give out an spesifications about the new system. nothing. just some fake news also new screenshots could be fake too. we simply dont know anything about new update. 4 example is the new crappy youtube app staying? what about horrible keyboard?
it just could be stupid update without any new features. also it could be something revolutionary like eclair. but we already knew them BEFORE the eclair released. were just waiting for google's jokes if whole gingerbread is just about some stupid skin and stuff.

Please tell me english isn't your native language, I'll totally understand then. Anyhow Google have 0 commitment to providing us with pre-release info. It's *UNRELEASED* therefore they could deny the existence of GB itself and are completely within their right to do so. These little bits of info like not so secretive tweets are just a bit of fun, surely I'm not the only one who likes the suspense/surprise regarding the lack of GB info?
Hi
What is NoDo?
Thanks
Amedeus
NoDo is an update to WP7 by Microsoft scheduled for March 2011.
Next big update is called Mango and is scheduled Q3/2011. This should bring multitasking an other stuff...
Does that mean that NoDo is 7.7008 as this is an update just released ?
No, as I know, the 7008 is an Update to improve the update capabilities to install further updates.
NoDo is 7389, I think.
So what does NoDO stand for?
Specifically - it is short for 'No Donuts'. Actually, it means nothing - it's just a name. It could just as easily be a reference number.

It is a poke at Android as all of Androids versions have had a name to do with pastry. You know Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, and now Honeycomb. It is just a way for Microsoft to make fun of Android publicly and not get sued for it lol. Look at the name of the next update, Mangoo which is a fruit. Fruit is suppose to be good for you and pastries are not get it? I think it is funny myself.

It's reasonably common knowledge why MS called it NoDo, but the poster asked what it meant, which is nothing really - it could have been called 'charlie', 'R2D2' or 'Hon Lionel Prinkinville III' - it's just a means of identifying it rather than imparting information.

You are correct it is just a means of indentifing the update. But it is a poke at Android and that is the reason Microsoft named/identified it as NoDo. Therefore I equate the NoDo or No Donuts to mean that Microsoft thinks their Windows Phone 7 OS is better than Android. Thus making NoDo mean WP7 is better than Android. I guess it is all how each indevidual looks at it. I just find it very comicial and had to post that as VirtualRenzo obviously had no clue about it. Microsoft and their silly word games
Actually NoDo is a reference to a meeting where a microsoft employee forget to bring donuts when he was supposed to.. it was not a jibe at android.
A quick google will tell you that.

Mar 22, 2011 … The name is a sarcastic reference to Android update that are all … I did not like the UI as it is bland and rather ugly. … US owners of Samsung's Galaxy S Vibrant didn't get Froyo until 8 …

I could not find a article on the guy forgeting the donuts but I have read about that as well. But don't you think them making fun of that guy is where they got the idea to make fin of Android in the same way. But thos is not worth arguing about it is just a name. But the truth is the truth.
The link you posted said the following:
"rumors have it that windows new firmware name "No Do" is a punt for Androids "doughnut" firmware"
I highlighted the crucial word. The blogger, like you, is only guessing what it means.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha...................... That is so funny
Do you really take that as proof?
That sounds more like someone covering their butt from lawsuites to me. Somthing somebody said on twitter give me a break.
AlsocI am no blogger never have been never will be. The only reason I sited that link and quote was because you told me to do a quick Google search so I did and that is what I got, ot toke all of like 1 minute to pull that up. I never had a MySpace page, I don't use facebook matter of fact can't stand facebook, and twitter is even worse of a joke and a falacie in my opinion. I don't want to read whatever someone wants to just vomit out, or something they are writting to try to look cool. I try to stay grounded in facts and not fantasy that the corperate world would like for people and strive for people to stay in. I mean really do you think they would publicly admit to the name NoDo being a slight of word against Android. That would be grounds for a huge corparate lawsuite, and maybe even cause Microsoft to lose ownership of therlir precious new OS as a outcome of the lawsuit. At minumal it would cost them a very large amount of money.
Why are people diffending Microsoft anyway? Microsoft has never been called a saint. But the fact still remains call it a rumor or not the truth is the truth. Especially when it is so obviouse that a blind man could see it.
Beleive what you want to beleive, and continue to be blind if you want. I originally posted in thos thread because I thought others might get a good laugh out of it just as I did but I guess I was wrong.

This article does more than just says it is rumored it breaks it down just a little more, and shows it is a direct link to Android with the name NoDo. Also you think I can not search XDA, wrong again check out these post from XDA. Link #1, Link #2, and Link #3 And best yet one from you showing you really did not know for sure yourself not long ago.

Unless they update to ManGo soon I think windows phone will go the way of the DoDo
I just wanted to point out that Froyo is Frozen Yogert... Don't forget Gingerbread and Icecream sandwich. Android is named after deserts. The Donut release was about 2.5 years ago... who runs that version?
The name nodo comes off as stupid when you realize they thought android was called pastries.
Hello,
I have heard that android has been ported to C#.
While this is a big thing, the reason why I am sharing this is that the performance of the C# Android version is superior than the Java one.
So my question is that can it be ported to our Heros?
Here is the link to the blog post and the github:

Since is a translation from Java to C, I believe that the apps will run with no problem if a system is made to translate back from C to Java. Well, I guess that it will be a major step but we don't know if the drivers and all will be functional. All we have to do is wait
C and c# are two totally different languages. C# had more in common with java though. Sorry, just had to point it out
I guess it is possible to use it. But I'm a bit sceptical whether the graphs are fair
Cheers, R

I wanted to throw this out into one of the dev threads for the new KitKat roms under development, but I'm too new to post there. Hoping someone with a little more seniority will post this over there if it is useful...
It sounds like there has been a roadblock with the display drivers for the Glacier and a new version of OpenGL (EGL) required in KitKat, causing black screens in some apps.
If any devs read this, I noticed they appear to have solved the issue over on the "[ROM][21-11-2013] AOSP KitKat 4.4 for Nexus S - alpha Build 3" forum. Its all completely greek to me, but it looks like from the threads that the CM team has figured out a workaround, and it sounds like it may not be phone specific.
Good luck! Thanks to all the devs for being awesome! Particularly Evervolv/elginsk8r, love the Evervolv 4.3, can't wait to update to 4.4!
Moderators, feel free to delete this if it is useless information. It looked positive, but I could be wrong.
Current still not have newer version to fix, So you need reference before update . This version not still stable, it's testing process. I think so!

Page 40 of the thread mentioned above (can't link yet) will show what I mean. Here are some excerpts:
cdesai and klusark found a patch in the Chromium trunk which fixes the WebView rendering bug on PVR devices and backported it to the Chromium snapshot that's part of 4.4. (The fact that it's part of the mainline Chromium code also means that we shouldn't face this problem again when upgrading to future Android releases.)
