[Q] XobotOS Port - Hero, G2 Touch General

Hello,
I have heard that android has been ported to C#.
While this is a big thing, the reason why I am sharing this is that the performance of the C# Android version is superior than the Java one.
So my question is that can it be ported to our Heros?
Here is the link to the blog post and the github:

https://github.com/xamarin/XobotOS

Yeah, it sounds awesome, really Do you know if apps will b e compatible?
Edit: I think Nickoltus might be working on this?

Since is a translation from Java to C, I believe that the apps will run with no problem if a system is made to translate back from C to Java. Well, I guess that it will be a major step but we don't know if the drivers and all will be functional. All we have to do is wait

C and c# are two totally different languages. C# had more in common with java though. Sorry, just had to point it out
I guess it is possible to use it. But I'm a bit sceptical whether the graphs are fair
Cheers, R

what has to be done to build this for our heroes?

RTorrent and Elinks

I would really like to see RTorrent and Elinks ported to android. However, I believe that they cannot be due to a different version of C. Busybox on the other hand, was ported.
Does anyone know if it would be possible to port elinks and rtorrent, and if so, whom to ask to do so?
I am bumping this for further information.

[Dev] IP Camera

Now I'm no dev myself but I found this project and it looks really interesting. Seems to be a bit short on Dev support so I thought I'd post it here to see if it takes anyone's interest.
Looks to be java based so shouldn't be too hard.
???
What project? You seem to have left something out of your post. A link maybe?

Source to learn java for android apps?

Outside the official java tutorial site. I know that is the best site to learn java, but Ive tried and I cant keep up. It looked messy for me. So anyone got a site or a book which covers some moderate stuff? Im not looking for game development. Also, I've managed to make my own simple notepad app, from the exercise at google. So no "hello world" tutorials, please.

Me, too.
It's a great book.
If you're new to Java, I would highly recommend at least learning the basics of Java and OO before launching into Android dev. Mainly because with Android dev there are a lot more moving parts than just pure Java.
Haven't taken this course myself, but looking through the contents of the course it looks quite good. At the price of 'FREE' you can't go wrong! https://www.udemy.com/java-tutorial/
Once you're more familiar with Java, this is a good reference book: http://www.amazon.com/Effective-Java-Edition-Joshua-Bloch/dp/0321356683

Oh yeah, that makes sense! Seems like a stupid question now. I've always tended to avoid the tutorials from the actual vendors since they are typically the worst. I guess I sometimes forget they even exist...

Since you both recommend this book, I'll give it a try. I found 'Head First Java Second Edition' on Amazon. Seems like there are two different versions. Which did you guys read? Thanks for the help

I used the German edition of the book. I recommend to choose the second edition as it should contain information that is more up to date.

Some interesting news for those interested in making AOSP/CM for Kirin SoC

Hi Everyone,
I have been doing a lot of research and digging the last few weeks on how to make a CM/AOSP build for the honor 7. I have not found much but I did come across something very promising from the Huawei P8lite forum.
They have managed to get a booting AOSP rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/general/rom-aosp-5-1-1-ale-l21-t3350106
This looks really promising, maybe we could take a look at how they made this and adapt it to our device? In the interim I have found loads of other Git pages for the P8lite if anyone fancied taking a look.
https://github.com/olrak2/android_device_huawei_p8lite_alel21
https://github.com/hak86/android_device_huawei_p8litekirin
https://github.com/olrak2/android_device_huawei_alice/
I know this is a long shot but I think we could really work with some of these sources, either way I thought I would make a thread so we could compile any research regarding custom ROMs for Kirin SoCs here so they're easy to find.
That would be pretty cool. I hope to see a CM rom for our device some day but I don't have knowledge to make it... I hope someone will work on it. I feel sometime like I have a Ferrari in my hand but I use it like a Fiat because of EMUI and bad kernel/rom management in general...

Oh sorry, I missunderstood, my mistake.
Well as @vardan1987777 said, we are just able to get a logcat yet, and sometimes don't even that, so trying to debug the issue, and to keep your excitement high, a new "batch" is currently cooking in my PC.
well, thats good news.
atleat we could get rid emui ugliness
What can we do about making device tree? If anyone has guides all about (making tree, building aosp or something), I can take a look. I have too much free time and I want a stock rom badly

We already have one, but it's still not complete(as it is not spitting out a bootable ROM).
Can you solve errors, I mean do you know coding in Java, C, C++ or something? @memht We will need any help we can have.

Android 7.1.2 and Android O for Nexus 6

Hi,
I don't know if anyone more has notice that Android 7.1.2 and Android O Preview 1 appears on Google Git for our lovely device.
I leave it here:
Android 7.1.2: https://android.googlesource.com/device/moto/shamu/+/android-7.1.2_r5
Android O Preview 1: https://android.googlesource.com/device/moto/shamu/+/o-preview
Huh.. can anyone more knowledgeable than me confirm the veracity of these links? FYI, I searched google for these terms and found this page for O. So it doesn't appear, at least at first glance to be illegitimate.
Quietly praying
Sooo...., this means, what i read on a clickbaity website wasn't entirely fasle?

At the very least, this has stirred the pot and made the mystery more interesting. Who knows!
I just leave it as a early filtration... let's wait for that!

All I know is that unlike the info from the clickbait sites, this is something that can be verified. However, I'd not get my hopes up. Things like this have been found in the source code before.

It's Google source code for sure. However, it seems like it hasn't been updated since February.
