I’m facing a strange and annoying problem on my Xperia X compact with LineageOS 14.1 / Android 7.1.1… During phone calls the volume is too loud even on minimum volume level. When I decrease the volume with the volumebuttons I see that it should lower the volume, but the volume remains the same. In other words, it doesn’t matter to adjust the volume level. It’s the case for both normal phone calls and also when I switch to speaker during a call.
It looks like the volumelevel for minimum and maximum are the same.
I’ve been searching in mixer_paths.xml (yes, I’ve rooted my phone), but there is too much info and I can’t find the right setting. Does anyone know what I should change, that there will be a difference between minimum and maximum volume level?
In build.prop I’ve added a command to add more steps to the volume slider. Now I’ve 14 steps in case of 6, but the minimum and maximum volume level are still the same so the steps doesn’t take any effect.
Other volume settings are ok btw.
Yes, right now it seems not to be possible to change the volume during phone calls which is very annoying. All you can currently do is setting the phone call volume in advance. Maybe one can have a look at OmniRom's settings (which have weekly builds but the terrible Google launcher and no built-in root) to work this out.

Hi,
I have a question regarding sound settings.
I want to be able to turn up the volume so that if I receive an sms I will have high volume but I want a low sound level screen tapping sound (e.g. when clicking on the start button on top left of the screen).... So basically I move the volume slider to a higher sound level but obviously this increases the sound level for the "Events (warnings, system events)". I dont want to completely turn off all "event" sounds but just want it at a lower level...
Is there any way to be able to modify the settings so that these two have separate sound volume settings.
I currently also have screen taps and hardware button taps turned off.
Thanks,
A.
you could take the screen tap sound and make a copy with the volume reduced by a few dB.
I searched for this, but couldn't find a satisfying answer... Until now I always used profile software, but figured it's too much overhead for what I need, I essentially only change the ring volume depending on situation.
Now when I use the volume slider on the Homescreen, the left Volume slider moves (the one with the PDA symbol). However, this doesn't influence the ring volume, which I would need. I never need to adjust the click volume...
Is there some setting to change the behaviour of the volume slider?
On a sidenote: I also noticed that the speaker volume while using the phone is too high, even when I'm in a call and move the slider to the lowest position. Can this be reduced somewhere?
I remember the boards on a mall when i get a call from someone. The upper floor had the body modifications shop named "Ear piercing" and the lower floor had a music shop named "Dolby music". It just happened that their boards were one above the other.
I am listening to some music on headphones, i get a call, answer it with the headset button, and YIKES!! the volume is maximum. even if the volume controller shows minimum, the sound is practically maximum.
it happens so that whenever i make a call, its at its maximum volume. even when not playing music.
over the past years i have used many android ROMs and have faced the same problem with many of them. few didnt.
and with years, comes wisdom (not blowing my own trumpet). I got a workaround for it on any ROM! if i change the volume level (increase or decrease) during a call, the phone then realises its mistake and goes down to the level in the volume controller.
my phone's in call volume is always set at its minimum. i get a call, pierce my ears, and turn the volume one step UP, and the volume level is acceptably low. (when the volume is minimum, lowering it doesnt work!)
i ask help to automate this workaround (a fix would be welcome, but i havent seen any coming around these past years)
could some tasker expert provide an xml or anything for this workaround to be performed automatically? (non tasker workarounds would be welcome as well)
the works to be done are:
1. when a phone call (incoming, or outgoing) is CONNECTED (not the ringing part on outgoing calls) turn the volume one step up. some milliseconds delay would ascertain that the volume goes up AFTER the call is actually connected, which is a must.
2. within the smallest fraction of time allowable (so that we dont notice it) turn the volume one step down.
results: the volume will not pierce our ears anymore, even if the volume level was minimum at call start, this trick would work.
Please throw some light, some expert.
bump!
Bump.
I have a similar problem with my vzw gnex running poweramp and etymotic headphones with microphone.
If I answer an incoming call it is at complete max volume, if I long press the button on the headphones to get to "voice command" the normally pleasant android voice lady comes in at a blaring max volume as well.
Now running Jellybean OTA strait from vzw.
This issue seems to be caused by the audio firmware in use. I found a firmware blob that defaults to an in-call volume about half-way through. It doesn't remember the last volume you set, but at least you won't go deaf if you forget to press Vol Up after initiating the call.
Grab the htcleo.zip file from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=860850 and either replace the htcleo.acdb file in your rom or delete the one in your rom and use the downloaded file to replace the default.acdb file (the files are located in /system/etc/firmware/). I'm currently using NexusHD2-JellyBean from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1930240 and this trick seems to work.
I noticed the same firmware blob is used this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=933951 which I used previously and didn't have this high in-call volume issue.
Does anyone know how to increase the bluetooth volume and the in-call volume.
I use the same bluetooth headset that I used to have on my s7 and I find the bluetooth volume way too low even though the slider is at the max setting.
Also the in-call volume is low as well.
Is there any service mode where we can change the default volume value or any hidden setting.
I have the original firmware without root G950W

I have this same issue on my note 8 did you get it resolved?
Actually I am not sure if it is completely resolved.
Are you using a lot of bluetooth headsets?
Try to use another headset, put the volume half way, unpair the bluetooth that you are having the problem and then repair it.
I think sometimes I have a bit higher volume.
Hello everyone,
I bought this phone recently (Android 6.0), and I have to say that I am satisfied, except one problem, I can't reduce the volume level of the ringtone.
I have tried manything, the volume keys works correctly for games, videos and musics and the display volume bar appears in the screen and i can contol the volume level, it also appears for ringtone and alarm volume but unfortenally still always to the maximum level.
I want to control the volume and decrease it (during the night for example) but nothing happens.
Help me please.
Hi,
I finaly found a solution; a HARD RESET (not a simple reset from the setting menu), for all those are in the same case
