Install Motorola Device Manager. If your ROM is bricked then I recommend flashing TWRP and then transferring files via MTP in TWRP.
Why can't you access your data?
You can't enable UMS (Universal Mass Storage) on android 4.4 (not sure but at least from Lollipop ) and above. Use something like Dr. Fone app on your phone itself to recover the files. (Root access needed)

Fellow XDA buddies...please help me on this one!
My colleague is locked out of his Galaxy S4 running Lollipop that has a pin / password lock that he inadvertently set and doesn't know what it was set to
We've Tried:
- Android Device Manager: After getting on the phone with a Samsung Mobile Tech and having them conference in a Google Tech... getting out of a pin lock screen is no longer compatible with ADM on Lollipop as it doesn't display the password input without first unlocking the phone via pin ...
- Samsung Find My Mobile: He never setup the Samsung Account/App on his phone before the forgotten pin issue ...
- Lollipop doesn't seem to have any vulnerabilities / workarounds to get past the lock screen when pin locked ...
- I have tried to use the Stock Recovery to apply the files suggested here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2308130 and here http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/general/bypass-t3035553 and cann't get past the Signature Verification ...
- USB Debugging was never enabled so the adb exploits I found that involve SQLite or removing the key file do not work ...
- I have exhausted all the methods here because it doesn't have have root access or a custom recovery installed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2620456
So without USB Debugging, Root or a Custom Recover (which requires root it seems), we are stuck!
I think the best bet would be to enable USB Debugging somehow while locked or from an upload we can make through the Stock Recovery or ODIN...
We would greatly appreciate if anyone can help!
Thank you,
-Chris
Usually the only option is a reset from recovery. Which will erase all user data. Pics, files... Etc.
That's the point of the pin lock... To protect your privacy mostly.
I have not heard of any other way to bypass the pin lock. Well, flashing firmware again works on most devices, but same result. All user data gone.
Flashing a new ROM through Odin I don't believe will work. If I recall correctly Odin doesn't wipe data when installing. Therefore, the only real option is a factory reset if you don't wish to root or install a custom recovery.
The only thing that you can save is files stored on the internal storage.
Apps, sms, contacts etc are gone. That is if you didn't make any backups.
If you want to save the files on your internal storage:
- Flash custom recovery (twrp)
- Wipe /system partition.
- Reflash a rom.
Hello, i own moto g4 plus
2 days before My niece put a pinlock in my phone which she forgot soon after, now the phone is locked for the last 2 days, i am unable to use,
I am told that now i will have to factory reset the phone to disable the pinlock and the whole data will be wiped off
is there any way where i can unlock without losing the data? because i have many important PDF files to my contacts, photos, apps setting and so much more, i would do anything but to lose the data.
my device is neither rooted nor USB debugging is enabled.
Please help if there is any way out possible.
Thank you in advance.
I've been searching for a way to get usb mass storage enabled in Zenfone 3 but most of it through an app. Since it's an app I'm afraid it contain something unwanted like ads or malware.
Since we can get bootloader and root on this device, can we get USB mass storage option too? If possible, without flashing to a custom rom?
Extra question: if I root the device, it is still running in Stock rom right? And after root, I won't be able to get any firmware updates from Asus right?
Hi everyone,
So recently my mom updated her Redmi Note LTE and since then it's been softbricked and stuck in a boot loop. The kicker is, aside from photos, the phone is not backed up in terms of settings and notes and data. My mom wants to keep this data before I reset or anything because there are actually a bunch of important things she wants to keep.
I'm wondering now if there's any way to install a recovery or access the phone's internal storage to pull backups without erasing anything just yet. I can still launch into Fastboot and MIUI Recovery if that helps.
I would also like to point out that at the current time I am not 100% sure if USB debugging was ever enabled prior to soft brick, as I am also unable to access that now :/
Thanks in advance for any help given!
Hi, I have the same pb here. I have tried this but I don't know if I have a MTK or other processor phone (Qualcom ?). Maybe if I hd a fastboot ROM, but I have a .zip...
Currently my device doesn't support USB debugging, file transfer etc. for some weird reason. Hence, decided to reset it to factory settings and then root it. It is updated to the latest version (Nougat). Kindly help me by laying out detailed steps to root my phone and install custom roms (preferable OREO) so IMEI and other functionalities won't be lost. Also, kindly guide me how to take proper precaution like backing up stock rom and other settings, in case something goes wrong and I need to unbrick the device. TIA
Sadly, still can not access any menu from notification area, and hence no USB debugging
