Hello,
since I installed Nougat to my G4 Plus, first stock, then lineageos 14.1, I have problems with the wifi connections... every know and then, it just disconnects. I observed this behavior at many wifis, not just mine at home.
Does someone else have this problem? Which baseband are you using? Are you using dual SIM?
I got the baseband M8952_70030.25.03.62R.
Thanks for your help!

I'll concur with this. On both 2.4 and 5GHz as well as over 4G, my connection will drop every so often.
Nothing life-changing, but somewhat annoying. I'm on the Nougat RETUS radio.

Same as yours; 70030.25.03.62R
I also have the same issue since the official Nougat update. Any ideas as to what it could be. Very annoying.
I have the same issue, it's very random and sometimes the wifi will not re-connect, I must manually connect to re-establish it. I have attempted to discover what if anything I am doing which may be causing it to occur with no real answers. I find it more than mildly annoying as it results in my connection timing out. Sometimes I may go hours without an incident, other times it is perpetual and constant. I believe that it may be caused by faulty hardware or firmware for the wifi radio as I have been incapable of discovering any evidence to suggest that this is widespread enough to be related to Nougat. That being said I did not have this problem until completing the official update on my phone which was completely stock at the time it was initially completed. My only course of action at this point is to A. rely on someone far more intelligent with this device to fix it. B. replace it with a different device
Same here. Very annoying when using VOIP etc. I tried both M and N basebands and different roms/kernels.
The problem might be due to the router settings.
Try to update firmware of check your wifi channel.
Wifi connectivity problem after ROM upgrade: baseband VS Llineage VS stock ROM
I flashed the newest clean stock firmware NPJS25.93-14-18 on XT1625
baseband M8952_70030.25.03.62.02R Athene_RetUSA
Then I flashed Llineage-14.1-20180815 and observed problems with Wifi, mostly with old WEP protocol.
Then I downgraded to stock ROM NPJS25.93-14-7-8
baseband M8952_70030.25.03.64.01R Athene_RetUSA.
Wifi connection seemed to be OK on stock NPJS25.93-14-7-8.
So is the wifi problem resolved with baseband M8952_70030.25.03.64.01R?
Not exactly so. After I flashed Llineage-14.1-20180815 with GApps (nano) , the wifi problem re-appeared despite having "good" M8952_70030.25.03.64.01R
So baseband is the same, but Andoid 7.0 stock ROM handles wifi better than the latest Lineage. Or is Google apps and software is involved?
The problem was discussed on Motorola forum
The problems seem not to be limited to Moto G4 only, but clearly appeared after upgrading to newer firmware. It might have something to do with tightening security in resent Android and Google firmware as Wifi WEP protocol considered outdated and of low security . However, some people reported problems with Wifi WPA protocol, too

Hi guys, I have installed cm13 on my S5 (klte), but I am experiencing wifi drops every few seconds and with screen turned off. I' ve tried installing different modem (BOK5, POJ1) and setting a different radio frequency, but none of this worked. Can someone help me?

I'm experiencing the same issue on my S5 SM-900F, when I upgraded from cm-13.0-20151025-NIGHTLY-klte to cm-13.0-20160203-NIGHTLY-klte. I flashed with TWRP-2.8.7.0. I read on another forum about flashing with nothing higher than 2.8.6.0 so I tried to upgrade when the 0204 came out, but no change. Anything new on this?
I've solved the issue, but I don't know how. I know for sure that this particular problem is related to DHCP, so I've messed up with my router configuration and I finally solved it. I suggest you to install TWRP 3.0.0.0 and make various try with your router configuration in DHCP section, good luck!
What should be the baseband version on nougat firmware NPJS25.93-14-4?
And how to know the modem version and is that correct for the firmware version?

The baseband for the 93-14.4 firmware looks to be the same as that for the 93-14 update: M8952_70030.25.03.62R (this is from a G4 plus, dual SIM). Important bit to look out for is the last part of the baseband (easiest way to check is under Settings>about phone, which should show you your baseband modem version)
To the best of my knowledge, basebands ending in:
.62R - 93-14 (v7.0, Dec 2016 patch) and 93-14.4 build (v7.0, March 2017 patch)
.60R - 93-11 build (v7.0, Nov 2016 patch)
.52R - 75.2 build (soak test, v7.0, Oct 2016 patch)
.45R and .48R - Marshmallow builds (v6.0.1, not sure if this was the 139.63 or earlier builds)
And is that the modem version? Or that's something else?
I have an issue with my phone, don't know if this is the right place to talk but still, actually at my place i don't get proper internet speed(around .5mbps) whereas other phone gets around 10 to 20mbps speed i don't know what's wrong u even tried flashing the latest firmware(because i sick to 6.0 because of xposed) but still the same, and I other places(other than my house)i get proper speed, does anyone have any idea what could be wrong?
Thanks

Bluetooth broadcasts/receives on similar frequencies to Wi-Fi and could interfere with Wi-Fi - I saw multiple threads on the official Motorola forums about having slow Wi-Fi issues and Bluetooth, hence asking if you have Bluetooth on and/or paired.

Okay, though there wasn't a mention of mobile internet, my apologies.
Have you tried your Jio SIM in another device, just to ensure it's not the network/tower congestion near your home? How are you testing speeds and what's your signal strength like? Also, which ROM are you running?

Yeah i tried the sim on my moms phone and it works great, network is around 80 percent, like i said all other phones work pretty well except this one, and the issue is just in my house(even though my house is pretty much in open area) in other places like in my office i get proper speed.
I'm on stock(rooted with xposed) 6.0

The next logical thing to do may be to flash the stock ROM back onto your device, see if your signal improves (of course, this would remove xposed, TWRP, and root, plus potentially your data). If not, might be due to a hardware issue (and would need another service visit).
I am troubleshooting some minor data connectivity issues on 7.x while using Sprint (att/tmo/vz unaffected). Issue is a long hesitation when reconnecting to cell data even when there is perfect signal for voice/text, might be something to do with the SprintDM subsystem or APN settings, maybe roaming settings or the eHRPD-LTE handoff, trying to figure that out!
But I wanted to see if there is any official (or working modified) version newer than M8992_1255331.29.01.88.02R SUPER NA ?
Obviously a North American radio firmware. Thanks in Advance.
another thing....I have some good insight on how to potentially fix this problem but I do not know how to dump/decompile the radio firmware to look at it and make adjustments. I could use some suggestions on software for this? I used QPST plenty in the past but since LTE came out this is a whole new level for me.

You have the newest radios until the Nougat update releases.
I would love to know too, I've been having so much connection issues it's ridiculous.

To my knowledge, you can't extract the radios in the device... you can get the NON-HLOS.bin and fsg.mbn files from the current factory images (possibly the OTA's as well, but I haven't looked into them, often times they are no complete images but binary difference images)... the "modem" in modern Moto devices is in 2 pieces, NON-HLOS contains most of the LTE, GSM, and WiFi "modem" while a critical piece is in fsg.mbn, unfortunately there isn't much documentation on what these pieces are and how to edit them. QPST changes on modern devices are much more problematic than older ones.
This is troubling. I wonder if my noticing of this issue on Sprint is only because Sprint's network is more 'cobbled together' in terms of radio frequencies and technologies. Definitely no issue in any 6.x ROM, but 7.x has delays in bringing back data connectivity after certain network changes. I am not even certain it's the modem files causing this, but perhaps something to do with APN settings and how they are auto-selected in 6.x versus 7.x. At any rate, this is a very annoying issue that I am disappointed in Motorola for not addressing, or at least releasing a developer bulletin on how to troubleshoot. Makes me pretty certain I'm gonna go to some other company for my next device unless they come out with an update.
There has to be a solution to this. It could even be related to the DMservice/SprintDM/etc apk files that control provisioning and not the modem itself. Although only a guess, I am fairly certain this is why they have not released an official 7.x OTA. How deep can I really go with this without permanently bricking my device's modem? I can probably restore the IMEI if I need to, but my thoughts have been: find these "dm-service apk files" from a 7.x device and use them on the XT1575, flash a modem from a 7.x Moto device or another device that uses the same SoC and runs 7.x, or find another component in Android that puts the 6.x radio functionality into 7.x without back-dating the entire kernel or something. There will probably come a point soon enough where I won't care about bricking my phone in the name of solving this, but I could use all the info I can. Nothing out there like QPST or a qualcomm modem binary editor that works for LTE devices?
Can somebody point me to a thread that contains, or upload a copy of these files from a 7.x Motorola device:
-any/all system APK's that contain the word: "omadm" in the process name (examples are SprintDM, Carrier Provisioning Service, DMService, etc)
Something I thought might be worth pointing out.
(omitted out, I was wrong about this)
Still troubleshooting this issue....
Hey Folks, as we all know how stock ROM sucks, I remained on custom ROM to max extend. But sadly I have to revert to stock due to network fluctuation issues. I use Jio as my primary and Airtel in SLOT 2. Fluctuation is widely seen in slot 1 which is reported by many others as well in respective ROM thread.
I have tried methods flashing custom modem image and network signal guru. But none seems to fix the case.
Anyone aware of other methods to fix the network fluctuation issues seen in custom ROMs? May be using any custom kernel?
Please help me to remain in custom ROM!
Cheers,
Hari.
Same here all cust rom has this network fluctuation issue and it is to do with the code. It seems if any one can fix this. It will be great..

The same, please helppppppppppppppppp!!!!
Noticed the same on Vodafone AU, no matter what network mode I set it to. Even on 3G only I get drop outs and fluctuations.
I'm hoping it's just some extra modem related package or service missing from the vendor blobs, but I've not had time to look into it yet (with my limited skills in this area).
For me also lot of fluctuations. Sometimes totally black signal bar. Hope somebody can fix it. I fixt it for now with automate and set network to 2g when on wifi and after lock screen when I am on mobile network.
Modem zip in forum don't solve it for me and also lock some bands with signal guru didn't do the trick.
Hope somebody can solve it a lot of people are suffering this problem.

Has anyone tried using custom kernel? Just curious on if any custom kernel fix this.
Same issue I have been facing, I had re-partitioned my device for Treble using CosmicDan's guide so that I can try all the best custom roms out there and get all updates as they are released but when I faced this issue, I had no choice but to revert back to Android One rom, undoing all the process

Nope change kernel don't solve network problems it has something to do with the modem.

Probably resetting modem settings, assuming you've made any.
China only uses maybe 5 bands, and most of the population doesn't often travel far from home; so roaming and tower switching isn't an issue. That, and a power management issue I think are responsible for our network issues.
My money is on these devices working perfectly in the motherland.
Faced the same , almost on every custom ROM .Jio 's volte doesn't work most of the time. Switched to January stable stock twrp with magisk . Now everything is stable , no volte issues at all .
Now my question is , the issue is with ROM or modem file ? As you guys are saying that it is a modem issue ..as now I am on January stable modem , I will try to flash a latest build of any custom ROM and will report .

There's a TWRP flashable May modem patch somewhere in the MiA1 forum. I've flashed it and the results aren't perfect, but circumstances have improved.
I have tried all March, April and May modems and all have problems with custom ROMs and network fluctuations for me. (IND Airtel operator) and even 3G is fluctuating with state owned BSNL. January is the only one I haven't tried which I will after getting a reply from sikoo1996.
I have very limited knowledge of these matters and so far all my attempts with dialer code menu or settings or Network Guru have all failed. Guess I will ditch this phone and stick to my S5.

I dunno if it actually works for everyone but,
Swapping the SIM card slot worked for me.
Using RR latest. I also flashed stock modem.img but that didn't fix the problem then. It's fixed now by swapping SIM slot.
Hey guys. Try flashing the latest modem and then, go oh ahead to *#*#4636#*#* and select network mode to TD-SCDMA/CDMA/UMTS . ?

I have an A2017G for about a year and a half, I noticed that 2G / 3G networks never worked. IMEIs are normal but do not go up the network, Asderdd helped me once using QPST + QFil and we even managed to make only 3G work, however after I used the Battery Guru app the network went down. Would anyone know if it's a hardware problem or a bug?
2 possibilities with software that are common.
a) You need to ensure the APN is correct for your carrier.
b) The phone could be running the wrong ROM making the modem software incompatible. There are three versions of the Axon 7.
Could have a hardware issue but I think it will be software.

Probably a hardware problem, because I already installed the stock 6.0, 7.1 and 8.0, Custom ROM 8.1 and 9.0 and the problem persists!
