I got an emergency alert today, and the text of the alert was automatically read aloud. That's the first time I've experienced that. Sure enough, it's there in the Sound settings. Is that feature specific to Huawei, or is it part of Android 7?
EDIT, sorry, meant to put this in the questions forum, but I don't see an option to delete this so I can put it in the correct spot.

Right, I understand the feature is there, I was just curious if it was an Huawei feature, or an Android 7 feature. My previous phone didn't have it.
It's an Android feature afaik.

Found a hidden menu I thought I'd share. Dialing the code directly doesn't seem to work, but going through this app it opens
I can't post links yet, search "hidden menus" in Play Store
Choose CQATestReceiver then the first option.
Still looking for the setting "MO SMS over IMS" though.

Is there any built in settings for turning off the sound at certain times? If not, is there a good app for this? My last phone had an option for putting your phone on silent at certain times and that would be really nice because I forget to turn my phone off silent sometimes. Little help? :cyclops:
Try Audio Manager Pro. It has a Tasker add on. I use Tasker to manage my different profiles.
I think there is a free version of Audio Manager.

How do I set a recurring schedule for a saved profile?
To create an automatic schedule for any profile, simply go to the profiles screen, long-press on any profile and select the “Set schedule” option. This will in turn open a configuration dialog where you will be able to set your recurring scheduled profiles.

There are a number of profile based applications. Some of my favorites are:
Tasker
Setting Profiles (free Lite version available)
Llama (free)
Search them on the Play store. They offer more features than what you're asking for but should do the trick.

There is the built in "blocking mode" under settings, device. But it leaves an icon in the notification area at all times. So I went to Llama and like it.
First, sorry my bad english ☺
So,when I put my finger on the bottom of the screen and slide up, appears circle with google and memo. What is this and where can I adjust it?
Tried to search forum, but no luck, cause I don't know its name ?
Seems like like most people call that feature the "nav bar ring" or "navigation bar ring".
That's the most I can do to help you. I'm not on a stock ROM anymore and can't recall any ring-specific settings.
My brother, who is new to Android, was just asking me about this yesterday. I did some research and it appears to be part of Jelly Bean and not an LG feature.
I cannot find anywhere to modify the apps shown on the swipe up in the phones stock settings. It looks like some Cyanogen developers are looking into it.
I did find there is an app called Google Now Swipe Disabler in the market that will let you change the top app option only. That might help for the short term, in the long term I think XDA will deliver the goodies.

Hope this helps.
Correct. The ring is AOSP. I can't say for sure if stock AOSP allows for customization, but I believe it does. I know AOKP has allowed customization of it for a long time.
It is from Jellybean and LG modified it. No setting for it that I'm aware of.
Thank you all!
Quite strange it don't have settings ability..
Google Now swipe up, my Nexus 7 has it and there no built-in settings to modify the swipe settings. The above link only disables it, but the swipe up function is still there, just with nothing to select.

It's one of the most irritating functions of the phone. I will never use Google now. But it happened I accidentally pressed the button of it.

The auto call feature where you hold the phone up to your ear and say who you want to call, can this be turned off? I know you can disable all gestures in the settings menu. Also, the auto call feature in that gesture menu is different. It only applies to calling the contact displayed on the screen, like a text message or viewing a contact.
Disable the "Auto Call" toggle under "My Voice"in settings, I believe.

Omg yes thank you!
Your method doesn't work anymore how do we do it in Android 7 Version
I'd like the phone to still vibrate so I can determine on a case by case basis whether it's worth picking up. Putting my phone on vibrate isn't a solution, because I still want my priority notifications to sound while keeping others silenced... But phone calls, I want to still be able to feel even when I can hear them.
Is that possible? I was using my phone and didn't even realize I was missing a phone call since DND was on...

Has anybody made an app to put custom vibrations on certain contacts?
I am a v10 user so maybe it is different but you can set priorities for favorite contacts only long press do not disturb mode from notification panel.
Press select priorities, set to favorite

I think I'm just going to use a macro to schedule my phone to vibrate instead of using DND mode. Guess I'll just reserve for that for when I'm sleeping rather than when I'm sleeping and working. I don't like the idea that I could so easily miss an important call.
