Is there any built in settings for turning off the sound at certain times? If not, is there a good app for this? My last phone had an option for putting your phone on silent at certain times and that would be really nice because I forget to turn my phone off silent sometimes. Little help? :cyclops:
Try Audio Manager Pro. It has a Tasker add on. I use Tasker to manage my different profiles.
I think there is a free version of Audio Manager.

How do I set a recurring schedule for a saved profile?
To create an automatic schedule for any profile, simply go to the profiles screen, long-press on any profile and select the “Set schedule” option. This will in turn open a configuration dialog where you will be able to set your recurring scheduled profiles.

There are a number of profile based applications. Some of my favorites are:
Tasker
Setting Profiles (free Lite version available)
Llama (free)
Search them on the Play store. They offer more features than what you're asking for but should do the trick.

There is the built in "blocking mode" under settings, device. But it leaves an icon in the notification area at all times. So I went to Llama and like it.

How then? I am new to Andriod.
What i want is sound off / vibrate on and vice versa. When i put my phone in vibrate mode, all notifications should be set to vibrate. Turn the volume back up and vibrate stops and sounds are back. Maybe I'm just not smart enough to figure it out.
Try settings profile in the market.
Another great app is just "profile" by noimjosh, it is a fully configureable profile manager. It also has whitelist functions and the ability to seperate sms mms and notification volumes to different levels. It will also control GPS WIFI, music volume alarm volume .. the list goes on and on. I highly recommen checking it out. well worth it. Hope this helps.

I find that this is good for everything. That's probably why it costs $4. I have this one turn on my wifi when I get within 1/4 mi of my house. I also have it change my wallpaper so when I'm home it displays a hot naked girl and while at work it will display something other than that.

I find this one only good for adjusting sound based on a condition.

Hey Acid, settings profile looks really good. Lots of control, i am wondering if you agree on this though. I am on call sometimes from 330 am and want to keep everything silent except for a call from work. So i basically set up a "silent" profile, then created a rule so if i get a call from a specific work number the profile will change to another profile called "work".which has an audible ringtone of course. Thus i should be able to keep everything silent untill work calls then presto i can hear that call. Sound right to you?

THESE instructions look like they run pretty close to what you're describing. I'm pretty sure you can.
Yep, I should have checked that turorial first, thanks for the suggestion, I might have to make the switch over!
Have a good one
Hey by the way, if you have Juice Defender and Settings Profile running in tandem I've noticed they can conflict on the wifi side of things.
Ahh, noted thanks!
So I was using the Hands free mode, then I tried to start it with Llama and it only has a car mode not a hands free mode. So I selected it and sure enough it goes into car mode and says car mode but it isn't the same as hands free mode which you can concurrently select too. Car mode doesn't have the same Svoice menu, it shows like the normal one.
Anyway, what are the differences and did you know there was a hiding mode that you cant get into from the settings?

Well so far besides the SVoice being different it doesn't read out text that come in.
I emailed the developer and he said basically this is a Samsung specific difference, car vs. hands free that is.
Wish I could figure out how to set and un-set the power save mode too. There are times when driving that the lower auto screen brightness (which is all I use power save for) is too dim. I can set to a certain % but that isn't dynamic based on light input.

Hands Free Mode is Samsung specific. If you install the "Secure Settings" plugin, it has "Driving Mode" in "Samsung Modes" under "Custom ROM Actions" and that will enable/disable Hands Free Mode. Driving Mode is the old name for Hands Free Mode.
Secure Settings conforms to Tasker & Locale plugin formats and it's actions can be used by Llama with the "Locale plugin" action in Llama.
See intangibleobject.com/about for more info

The Secure Settings Samsung options (mentioned in my post above) are: Toggle Blocking, Driving and Power Saver Modes, so you can set that with Llama too.

Thank you so much! I can confirm that on my Note 3, toggle driving mode under Samsung Modes actually toggles Hands-Free mode.
Ah yes. Just got around to trying this and did see the settings.
I found another way of doing it by setting my bluetooth as a "my place" under location services, and then (ah crap I cant remember or find it) somehow I set when bluetooth came on it new it was in "car" and car put it in hands free mode.
If anyone can figure out how I did that I would like to know again.
Sorry
Hi guys,
Is there any mod that can allow me to set specific volume on notifications, calls and other sounds>
Cause blocking mode just block them.
I want just to lower them.

You probably want some form of sound profiles. For that goal (and more) I am using a program called LLAMA - you can define some profiles (which are just sound levels) and then you can define events/rules that activate those profiles; in those events you can also add other actions (like brightness or wifi or hands-free mode) and then you can trigger those events either manually (with a shortcut) or automatically based on rules.
Other people might use Tasker for a similar goal.
You can do that via tasker.

The auto call feature where you hold the phone up to your ear and say who you want to call, can this be turned off? I know you can disable all gestures in the settings menu. Also, the auto call feature in that gesture menu is different. It only applies to calling the contact displayed on the screen, like a text message or viewing a contact.
Disable the "Auto Call" toggle under "My Voice"in settings, I believe.

Omg yes thank you!
Your method doesn't work anymore how do we do it in Android 7 Version
I'd like the phone to still vibrate so I can determine on a case by case basis whether it's worth picking up. Putting my phone on vibrate isn't a solution, because I still want my priority notifications to sound while keeping others silenced... But phone calls, I want to still be able to feel even when I can hear them.
Is that possible? I was using my phone and didn't even realize I was missing a phone call since DND was on...

Has anybody made an app to put custom vibrations on certain contacts?
I am a v10 user so maybe it is different but you can set priorities for favorite contacts only long press do not disturb mode from notification panel.
Press select priorities, set to favorite

I think I'm just going to use a macro to schedule my phone to vibrate instead of using DND mode. Guess I'll just reserve for that for when I'm sleeping rather than when I'm sleeping and working. I don't like the idea that I could so easily miss an important call.
