First, sorry my bad english ☺
So,when I put my finger on the bottom of the screen and slide up, appears circle with google and memo. What is this and where can I adjust it?
Tried to search forum, but no luck, cause I don't know its name ?
Seems like like most people call that feature the "nav bar ring" or "navigation bar ring".
That's the most I can do to help you. I'm not on a stock ROM anymore and can't recall any ring-specific settings.
My brother, who is new to Android, was just asking me about this yesterday. I did some research and it appears to be part of Jelly Bean and not an LG feature.
I cannot find anywhere to modify the apps shown on the swipe up in the phones stock settings. It looks like some Cyanogen developers are looking into it.
I did find there is an app called Google Now Swipe Disabler in the market that will let you change the top app option only. That might help for the short term, in the long term I think XDA will deliver the goodies.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.AdrianCampos.googlenowswipedisabler&hl=en
Hope this helps.
Correct. The ring is AOSP. I can't say for sure if stock AOSP allows for customization, but I believe it does. I know AOKP has allowed customization of it for a long time.
It is from Jellybean and LG modified it. No setting for it that I'm aware of.
Thank you all!
Quite strange it don't have settings ability..
Google Now swipe up, my Nexus 7 has it and there no built-in settings to modify the swipe settings. The above link only disables it, but the swipe up function is still there, just with nothing to select.

I recently updated to DJ05 with both Super Clean .9 and Stupid Fast (Whatever the newest is.) A day later, everything is working fine except when I try to longpress to move a shortcut or widget. I receive a small vibration but no ability to move. I'm using Adwlauncher, as well.
Does anyone know what could cause this?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
I have noticed the new adw launcher has an option to lock the desk top. If u press the menu soft key it may say unlock desk top. Just something to try sounds like it may be the cause
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
The latest ADW version kills long press. No idea why, it just does. Switch to LP or Touchwiz and you get the button back. Shortcut apps from the market have no effect. It caused me to buy LP+ and I regret not doing it sooner.
Lastly, this should be in general, not development.
ya if u mean voice search via long press of the search key it is messed up. However there is a work around for this as well. Double press the search key first to open the search then long press it to get to voice search. However in your original post it sounds more like the desktop is locked to me just unlock it and should be good

The desktop was indeed locked. Thank you guys.

Hi guys.
I flashed RR v7 on my note (so ICS).
Maybe I have got a hidden setting I didn't know the existence before.
If I put in edit mode the app drawer to manage my apps in folders, when I open or close the folders there's a synthetic voice telling "folder opened, folder closed" plus something else....
Am I wrong? Any suggestion? I want to get rid of that. Only doing this operation I hear that. Really annoying. I did not check anything in voice settings...
Thanks.
Check System Setting > Accessibility for a Voice Over feature. Turn everything off in that menu, might be it.
Thx mate. Already checked and everything is off. In my opinion is due to the custom ROM I have. In fact it is the only place of the entire phone where I have such voice "help". There must be some hidden recall to voice function active on that. Quite annoying but I can survive.
Thanks for your reply.

Mate, you are right.
I changed the default s3 touchwiz with the classic one and the "bug disappeared".
So it is related to the new touchwiz itself.
Thanks so much to have given to me the right tip.

Feature? Yes if it would be a thing I can choose..
Not this case...
I had a similar problem but was triggered by my 'Iphone Notifications' app, it looks like apps enable under 'Settings/Accessibility/Services' can trigger this wierd behaviour in touchwiz, i disable iphone notifications and the 'Folder Opened' voice goes away, I enable it and it comes back.
If you disable any Text to speech (TTS) apps installed, usually have a Google one and a Samsung one installed in Stock ROMS, the problem should disappear. Its a well documented problem with Google Talkback.

Hi.
Creator of iPhone Notifications here.
Here is a fix to your issue :

This is a bug in Samsung's software, their dev team has reported to us that they have found the bug and made a fix and it will be released in the next update.
Thanks for your interest for our apps.
I don't have any use for Google Now nor do I use the built-in Google search function and I'm trying to find a way to remove the shortcut thing that pops up when I long-press the home button on the navigation bar. It's actually infuriating the amount of times I pull it up by mistake.
I am running Paranoid Android 2.5 ROM and the navigation bar options specifically states that the home button shortcut can not be changed in those options like the back/recent/menu buttons can.
I have deleted the googlequicksearchbar.apk from the system apps folder and that at least causes it to just bork up and stops it trying to load everything up when I end up selecting Google Now by mistake but it's still a pain in the ass to have that shortcut there.
I've searched around and the only things I found covering this were disabling it on the lockscreen which is different from what I am trying to achieve.
Has anyone had any success on the PA ROM in regards to removing the Google Now shortcut from the Home button?

Which google app is that? There is no Velvet.apk to be found and there's nothing in Titanium Backup's list that I can see that looks like it would be that either. I see google voice search and google search. The latter which is no longer present as I deleted the searchbox apk already.

Have you tried to disable Google Search app in Settings->Apps?
Worked on my Galaxy Nexus with stock rom.
You'll probably have to kill and restart Launcher process to get rid of the grey bar at the top of the screen.

I don't think you have to do any of that. Go to settings and go to system settings, hardware keys, or navigation. Go to the home button and change it to none.

I've manged to get Google now off the Nexus 7
After hours fiddling I found the answerr
You go into settings, click on app, and then scroll to the reach 'all'
You will see Google Search open it and hit all buttons which cut the cache and another 2 buttons which I d'ont remeber. Anyway click all the buttons there.
Then you will find that where the google search box was there is now a grey block in its place.
Close down the phone, and when you turn it on again the grey box is gone your sexy home page is back!
I really don't undertand the minds of Google Now. The annoying pop notes never told me nothing I needed to know. Google should at least give an easy option to turn the thing off. I fed with things being installed in phones which you can't deleat.
To those wanting to disable search, that's ok, it is your tablet and you can do with it as you like. But, is it really so hard to not hold down the home button? I use search every day multiple times and find it extremely useful. You can turn off any or all cards and even turn off Now and you get the search screen without any cards. If you gave it a fair try you might fine it useful. Others have posted how to disable it, so the OP has his question answered, but I encourage people to learn and use search.
I disable it because I use my nexus for gaming. So I like it keep my background processes to a minimum. I can only assume others do it for much the same reason. If you don't use it why have it running?

You can kinds of disable it using SwipeLaunch Disabler.
https:/play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=hk.sld.SwipeLaunchDisabler
Go to settings, apps, all, scroll down to Google+ and disable it.
That will just show the "old google search" when you use the home button.
If you want it back go to playstore search Google+ and enable it.
My question is, is there a way to add shortcuts to that menu?
Maybe replace it with this: Home Button Launcher
You can add shortcuts and it's Open Source.

I'm using Paranoid Android v2.50 on my Samsung GS3... I found it irritating that sometimes I would hit the "menu" button too long on my phone by accident (normally when it was in landscape view) and that would bring up the Google Search page every time... here is what to do:
1) Head to "Settings" > "Interface" > "System" > "Hardware keys"
2) Tick "Enable custom actions", the options below will light up for you to edit.
3a) In my case, I had to edit "Menu key (long press)" and set it to "No action"
3b) In your case it would be "Home key (long press)" and then set that to "No action".
That will stop the Google Search feature popping up when you accidentally hold the button down too long

I think that is okay to learn how to use it, but for me it is a bit annoying everytime I play MinecraftPE. The proximity of down button and home button is so close that I always end up presing home button then search pops out. I am on stock rom 4.1.1 device with soft keys and notification all bundled up.
Hi everyone,
Since I use a menu button in my navbar, I was wondering if there was a mod, that I could flash to remove the 3 dot menu. If there are none, I am willing to do it myself and have tried the following methods but they don't work for me. So if anyone knows of a mod or a guide, that would be great:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2297692
The above link was the only one I could find, the rest mostly relate to HTC One threads.
Rom: Vanir Nighlty, Android 4.3 (AOSP Base)
EDIT 1: Here are the steps I tried:
To remove 3-dot menu:
Decompile your framework-res.apk
Go to values folder
Open bools.xml
Search for
<bool name="config_showNavigationBar">true</bool>
and change it to
<bool name="config_showNavigationBar">false</bool>
Recompile your framework-res.apk
I also made sure to sign the apk and zipalign it before putting it in a flashable zip
One thing I also tried, it was a long shot & it didn't work but I decompiled the framework of an MIUI rom since they have it enabled, and tried taking a few things from there but it didn't work
EDIT 2: I have already tried editing the build prop with a line from a HTC thread but it didn't work (phone wouldn't turn on)
Also, if anyone knows where menu-related stuff is within framework res that would be great because that would be a good place to test. (That's if the solution lies within framework res)
EDIT 3: Update: AOKP unofficial 14th September (4.3) still has the bug

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that the overflow menus you are referring to is coded into the app and not really dependent on anything else. Meaning that it is part of the app itself and not something the OS shows. Isn't that what Google's android interface guidelines suggests?

I'm not a dev or app developer so I can't really comment on that. But I do know that some roms do have this feature on 4.3, it's just that it it doesn't work.
So im pretty sure the answer lies within the rom itself, not the apps maybe. Although im not even sure if the solution lies within framework res, it could be system ui or even at source, in git, which would make it out of my hands
I know that there are roms that can add the menus button permanently to the nav bar (PA can do this) but I have never seen one get rid of the menu overflow button within any apps themselves. Even back to 4.2 roms I never saw that type of behavior.
In fact now that I think about it when I still had my GS3 which has a physical menu button there still was the menu overflow button in some apps because that is what Google's app guidelines say to do.
Edit - I think what you are seeing about the htc one is about removing the black onscreen nav bar that shows up in apps that don't use the menu overflow button on app because the htc one has hardware keys but not a menu key.

There are roms on 4.2 that can remove the 3 dot menu because I used them. All roms (Or at least most) on 4.2 based off AOKP have the feature, i used to use Rootbox rom on 4.2.2 and Xylon rom and the feature worked perfectly. But if you look now on 4.3 AOKP builds, it just doesn't work for some reason

The apps seem to know if the phone has a menu button or not.
Just throwing this out there but PAC has the overflow menu disabled by default!
If there was a way to port this to other roms I would be ecstatic!
But alas I do not know how to cherry pick commits and I have no idea where the commit is in PAC's GIT
You find me that commit and I might be able to add it and build it with a friend of mines help.
xenon rom had a feature that if you held down the unlock part of the slide unlocker on the lock screen that's on the middle bottom of the screen.. you could turn on the flashlight and it turned off when you let go (in case it's confusing its the thing you would slide around to unlock the phone but as long as you didn't go all the way right/left or whatever direction and just held that button, within 2 seconds the flashlight would turn on..
can't seem to find how to add it to other roms.. i've looked into other options from the play store but I like this one the best.. anyone know how to do it?
You could just use a lock screen target for the torch probably quicker. You can also with some launchers set the torch as an action e.g double tap turns it on.
Simple to do .
Just a thought, also some custom roms have the option on the navigation bar or quick tiles even the power menu . So many choices and you want a crap choice where you have to keep it pressed by hand. No good if you need that hand to open a door e.t.c
