Hi,
recently i came back to my xperia play, and changed my HyperGamer rom to Aurora 2.0.0 with Lupus v12.
In antutu benchmark, i'm achievienig almost 6000 points, but i saw people who had "over 9000!!".
I flashed adreno booster and overclocked it to 1,6 Ghz.
Also, application often close, and a lot of things work unstable, even without OC.
I'm not sure if i have right firmware, but i don't know how to chack it, and if i can flash it safely now.
Also, i wanted to try doomkernel 14, but i can't find it anywhere. Maybe someone knew where to download it?
Thanks for help
doom kernel 14 can be found here (at least now):
DooMKernel v14 (420/380* - stock):

For what rom this kernel is good? And what kernel is better for performance Lupus or Doom? And what is best rom for gaming on JB/KK
Im using Doomkernel with stock rom overclocked to 1.6ghz. For me this has been the best combination with regard to stability and compatibility. I tried many roms and the phone became unusable at times. Adreno gave too many glitches for me. Some games were missing textures etc.
As for the 9000, I only managed that when overclocked to 2.3ghz. Most people only achieve 6-7000 on normal overclocks. Hope that helps.
I'm using doomkernel too, but mine runs on 1,9 Ghz. What's funny, it started working stable after some time. I had to reboot phone few times when i was messing with clock and governors, but know it work perfect.
If 6-7k is normal, that's great.
I recently bought an xperia play only for gaming. Auroraplay and doomkernel: 1,8Ghz and airplane mode (no GAPPS, no WIFI, nothing) and it is incredible! n64oid Mario kart, Mario 64, starfox absolutely smooth!
yes but on GB you can´t install retroarch, wich is the only emulator i would wanna use, instead of having 8 emulator apps...
Yeah, i think i will go for HyperGamer rom, with retroarch, but i will try removing as much things as possible. And maybe screen mirroring will work, which would be awesome!!!
ok so i tried some retroarch version on the auroraplay rom, so far the 9.9.6 has basically all the cores you need and the pad mapped right away without need of configuration( you can find it in aptoide). from that version on the gamepad maping is broken and needs some serious configuration, it's a pity cause the 1.5 version has just been released and it look beautiful with xmb interface artbox support and al the fancy stuff...imma head over to the retroarch support forum and ask why from 1.2 on the xplay gets broken controls

Can someone please make 1.7Ghz possible. My phone crashes every time when i oc to 1.8Ghz.
Im just interested in what my phone is really capable of.
try cm7 with franco kernel, perfect with 1.8 oc
Already tried that. Freezes on my phone.

I've seen somewhere that changing the I/O Scheduler to vr helps OC to 1.8GHz. I haven't tested it, and I don't know how much this affects the phone.
I just got my root on a few days ago. Before and after games play fine at the stock 1024mhz so I think overclock xperia really wouldnt mean much besides less battery life. Plus quad cores are early to mid 2012 ... hopefully something like the xperia play only jacked on steroids comes out next year. I honestly havent looked around enough tho I hope xperia play isnt the first and last of its kind!

I have tried the vr also no effect...
it's works on my phone !but seems not good, sometimes automatic reboot, the rom is oxygen r3. just this rom can only works on 1.8Ghz !

sorry for my english
What is the best rom/firmware for gaming ?
In the ICS roms its reboot a loot.

Stock gingerbread with DooMKerneL. Remove bloatware apps and stop excess services. Can't get a better gaming experience than that (though some say V6 supercharger helps)
Can someone give me the links ?
What gingerbread ?

Stock is defintely what you want for gaming alright. I'd go with a stock based ROM so that most of the bloat is removed for you and not weighing down your device.
Something like JokaWild.
EDIT: by the sounds of it, you are going to have to do some research. Start by looking into flashtool.
Just noticed my above comment may have sounded condescending. It wasn't meant to be. Since you have flashed ICS successfully, I imagine you know how to flash a stock ROM.
From my experience Jokawild was the best gingerbread rom for gaming

What about for a R800x?
I have tried several different ROMS and not that these other ROMs are not awesome in their own right. But I always come back to my nandroid of stock Android 2.3.3
I rooted, then deleted all bloat in the system folder, and all the other apps that can be reinstalled to SDcard, map, talk, gmail, etc. I have around 180mb of free space according to my system/apps folder. I then used V6 Supercharger and set everything to aggressive with Nitro Lag. Now my phone is super speedy. I have no lag anywhere, all games play buttery smooth including GL games. I also am using DoomKernel by DoomLord and No Frills set to Performance, CFQ at 1.2ghz (dont like to OC too much just a tiny little bump)
And I also have a Sandisk Mobile Ultra 32GB HC-I MicroSD card. Was using a class 4 sandisk proir an this card was on sale on a camera site for $30, figured why not and got it, saw a difference with GL games as well, before they were smooth with an occasional slight stutter but now its all good.
Just found it, its $3 more then what I paid but still a great price and this card is awesome.

^This.
So, I'm using an ICS rom with the new Adreno drivers, and I get better performance on Fifa 12 then I got with Gingerbread. Is there a way to install the new Adreno drivers on Gingerbread?
I have tried most to all the roms as well and I will say I got the best gaming performance with the stock 2.3.3 rom (bloatware free) with doom's kernel. This had not only the best performance but also worked with most to all games.
I would of put 2.3.4 but gmail and google voice still wont auto sync. Once verizon decides to wake up then jump to 2.3.4. Hope this helps.
You will need to use flash tool (thread) to do all your kernel and FTF flashing.
Flash this: 2.3.3 FTF
Flash this: DoomKernel + Wifi modules (thread)
Boot up like normal and go through the setup. After that install titanium backup and start ripping out all that Verizon junk.
Install SetCPU and find your overclock sweet spot. Dont forget to set a profile to underclock you phone for when your batteries low. (I found that smartassV2 scaling gave me the best performance/battery life with a 1.6 Ghz overclock.)
This is for a r800x (Verizon)
That's pretty much what I did. I have the stock overclocked kernel, which isn't overclocked, but SetCPU is set to overclock to 1.6Ghz when any of my games are running.
Thread Closed, Thank You.
Hey Guys,
ive tested my LG G2 with Stock KitKat on it with Antutu and 3DMark. The results was really OK.
31.000 points in Antutu and about 15.000 points in 3DMark.
Now im running PardusHD-Rom, by the way its an awesome Rom, runs really smooth, fast and stable.
But the Benching Results are really bad, i know that benching ist not the real, but im asking why this happens:
With the Pardus HD Rom and the integrated Kernel i get about 16000 points in Antutu and 12000 points in 3DMark.
Anyone know why this is and how it could be fixed?
The fix is to stop eating your time on benchmarks and use your device, their pointless and a waste of time
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
I know what you mean, and the rom & kernel works fine but there must be a reason why for example in antutu the last scene runs with 35fps with this rom & kernel, and with more then 50fps with stock?!
I dont matter the result points, i just want to test if the apps and games are working fast like stock, with same fps.
Is there maybe another way to test that?
Hey Fellas,
i fugured out what the reason for the bad results is: The governor in the Kernel.
It was set to ondemand, this is why the rom&kernel worked fine but the results in benching apps wasnt good.
Tried it with governor setting hyper and a little oc and see there,
Now i know that everything is ok with soft and hardware, now i will go and deinstall the benching software and get back to ondemand.
2 Thumbs up for the PardusHD Rom and the D... Kernel that comes with it.
Hi guys,
first of all let me apologize for this stupid question. Personally I hate these questions too, but I have my device in service for 3 weeks, therefore I'm not able to continue with my research...
It's already a long time since I've bought my G2 (D802). Of course, the first thing what I've done > go to custom ROM ... (It's my habit since Xperia Arc S) I think that I was dissappointed of my new LG G2 even then. Games wasn't fluent and lagless as I supposed they should be. It was another good reason to go to the custom ROM. But unfortunatelly and surprisingly it was even worse. So I find another thing why is that so bad. In that time custom ROMS wasnť based on Kitkat sources (kernel), so I hoped that everything will be fine after developers merge source code. But the improvement has never become (in that form I hoped for) In that time I became reconciled that I will never play games on my G2 as smooth as on my iPad.
That's the reason why I'm looking for the best ROM for games. (I'm a heavy gamer)
So my question: Do you know any good rom for Gaming? Could you recommend me something?
I tried Mahdi. PA, Beanstalk, Slim ROM, CloudyStock, Pro, Flex, G3... But none of these ROMs is fine...
(I can't understand how can be Cloudy ROMs so popular (Nothing against Cloudyfa ) because they have too many lags in games !!! I think it's more laggier than stock...

What's the definition of "lagless" for you, and what games are you playing?
First of all, you have to realise and acknowledge that this is a smartphone. No matter what, it's still a phone and it's not made for heavy gaming. Second, you have to realise that despite the fact that many developers (ie Gameloft) has a lot of experience with games, they're too lazy too optimize them even for the most powerful chips out there. The games utilise 100% CPU speed even if they don't need it at all, and then the CPU throttles down because it's becoming too hot. Logic/10.
Thirdly, you have to realise that the ROM is not what makes the game fluid or lag-free. It's the kernel.
Since the G2 (like ALL other phones) is cooled passively (it has no fan whatsoever), it's important that it runs as cool as possible to prevent overheating and throttling.
My advice to you would be the following:
Install your favourite ROM and a kernel you can tweak heavily (gpu/cpu). A good bet would be dorimanx.
Go to kernel settings, and chance max frequency to 1.27 Ghz or around that. Change governor to performance.
Change GPU to 450 Mhz.
Try playing a game =)
I used to play Asphalt 8 back when I first got the phone and I got about 30 FPS? Anyway it was smooth as butter, and I see no real reason why you want to put a custom rom on your phone. The good 'ol days where nothing was better than custom roms are pretty much over. Stock is just fine, root it, use a custom kernel if neccessary and use xposed. Will solve it.

Of course that kernel is the most important thing in performance (because of sequencer laws, etc...), but nowadays we have no (except render) custom kernels for AOSP/ CM ROMs, so my question was focused on a ROM → I connected it to the whole... (And furthermore each ROM has own kernel. + ROM can cause lags as well)

Unfortunately these times are gone, at least I think it. There were lots of updates, which increase the performance consumption (Simply they add tons of new features and stuff, but they ,,forget" to optimize that... ) I played this game, Dead trigger 2, Dungeon Hunter 4 and even simple games like traffic racer with incredibly high count of lags (And it wasn't lags in miliseconds → not always). I thought it was because of my current ROM (Mahdi) so I tried PA and then stock based ROMs (CloudyFlex, Stock) but nearly no changes) Therefore I think it will be the same on stock ROMs too, if it's on Cloudy ROM with heavily optimized kernel, system... (Even Dorimanx kernel doesn't change anything).

Thanks for this tip, I tried something similar but with UC to 1,9 GHz and I didn't set governor to performance (My device was incredibly hot in a while with performance governor), I didn't notice any bigger changes - I expected that lower frequency will cause even more lags and I was obviously wrong. For sure I will try your advice....

I don't like the LG's design of system, and I don't like xposed → it causes higher battery consumption and it ,,eats" RAM and performance (At least on my previous device )
i have 10 xposed modules installed and i didn't notice any additional battery decrease...
as for ram, as stated many times - free ram = wasted ram...
as for the thread - "what's the best this&that" threads aren't allowed on xda
i played rr3 and csr racing on this device and didn't notice anything wrong with the framerate (stock kk v20f, rooted with dorimanx kernel on default)
Oddly enough, I haven't noticed a major change in gaming performance coming from the S4 Pro. Asphalt 8 specifically is buggy, sluggish, etc on my LG OG & G2, but I don't care for android gaming since the apps aren't optimized (too many HW configs, whereas iOS is just SGX & Ax chips).

First of all, I like to say that we lacked similar threads, so OP started an useful topic. I would have stayed with simple dual-core smartphone, but I bought G2 in November for a reason, to try new games and so on, I woudn't have bought it if I needed a phone only for texting and browsing, like many argue like this. What I observed is that, 2,3 Ghz for a phone with passive cooling is a nonsense because after few minutes of gaming it will keep running like 1,5 Ghz and lower, hell what's the use of those 4 cores if a device would burn out. I never owned an apple product, but on my colleague's 5S, they run very smooth and fast with same graphics on a dual-core, so it all goes to optimazing and not using these ridiculous frequencies. I was expecting a lot from a phone like that, sorry for a long post.
Does anyone plan to built a custom kernel for our s3 neo? Would be very nice to get a performance boost especially for gaming For example GTA San andreas, i know adreno 305 is incompatible with the game but maybe it would be more playable with an overclocked GPU? Thankyou for your hard work all of you developers for this device
i think it wouldn't make a big difference...
because the game itself is laggy on most android phones (lack of optimization, for example on an iphone much better optimized) , most other games on s3 neo perform very well so it's probably the fault of rockstar games. however that's my opinion
You are right with low Ende devices but in my friends devices with snapdragon 615 it runs 100% smooth all the time on highest settings everwhere, and Here it lags still with lowest settings. I know its incompatible, but maybe an overclock can make it run with more than 10-20 fps. I think GTA SA got more stable on most devices with its last updates. Unfortunately, even GTA 3 runs "only" good , not very good on highest settings, and GTA vice City even Lage sometimes on mid settings. Maybe you are right and it is Rockstars fault, but maybe an overclock can cause a slightly Vetter performance. Other games like MC5 and dungeon hunter run very smooth. Emulators like drastic and n64 Emulators also, and Ppsspp in most cases well. But it would be nice if wie could max out the performance. I know it will cause battery darin, but when gaming at home it doesnt matter. If i had the abilty to develop a kernel or anything for this device, i would. But i dont own a PC and dont have the knowledge
I searched for that bug and found that it's an Adreno 305 problem, for example the Moto G got a GPU update and made GTA SA run better. Here's the link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2721136
We just need someone to adapt it for our phone.
Yes gta san andreas that work smooth for our device...it would be a dream
Oh this would be very very nice if someone is able to port this

Use Flashify. It has a kernel backup option.
