oooh very excited by this.
I cant risk it yet but would love to hear of more experiances
My n920i has been flashed with n920g since marshmallow.... I've received all the OTA updates, including the nougat one. No issues to report whatsoever.
WIth a SM-N920G in Guatemala, i got fail at system.img, had to download stock rom 6.0.1 to get the phone back again. PDA N920GUBS3BPI4 / CSC N920GUWM3BPI1.

any issues with samsung pay or the US carriers?
This will wipe every thing but Knox counter is intact.
If you get system img fail, use the 4 filed method first to changes SM-N920I to SM-N920G firmware.
Got a link to the 4 files?

Hey just a question, I know you changed yours from lollipop 920i to MM 920g (last year)....but when you upgraded to nougat were you already on the Indian marshmallow rom?
I'm asking because I'm thinking about doing mine now but I'm already on AU MM And I'm not looking to soft brick mine.
From what I've read in the S6 forums I think the problem with everyone also failing on sys.img is because of 6.0.1 secure bootloader only allowing matching regional phones to update properly. I think that might be preventing the change from AU to INS MM also.
Has anyone successfully downgraded from 6.0.1(with all the current security updates) to 5.1.1?
Thoughts?
I tried this method using 4 files, System.img fail error. tried to downgrade to Lollipop using 4 files, same System.img fail error. Bummer

Anyone have firmware or know where to get it for the international version of the Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-900H? I received a free one that is soft bricked. Someone tried to downgrade from LP to KK and it did not got well. I found one site called SamMobile but you have to pay to get the download.
Use this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/tool-samfirm-samsung-firmware-t2988647
Or you can just use Kies to restore your phone since it has a recovery option
Um....unless things have changed, sammobile don't charge for downloads......I've downloaded numerous firmwares from that site.....

You verified that the new software has the v3 bootloader? There are a bunch of different odins to try. Try all of them.
But unfortunately there is no fw released yet for pg1. It needs to be leaked. AT&T is the only carrier that doesn't release their FWs. I'm not sure how they get away with it.

Whats the issue or error even if BL is flashed or why is not recommended to flash BL ?
Well, I made the dumbass decision to root. That didn't last long. Using Odin just flashed the 3 other files and after it downloaded the OTA it continually fails to install.
I used Odin to go back to the June update 2x from the July OTA update. I flashed all 4 files without issues. I used the 3.12.3 Odin . I am getting the notification to install the July update still but I ignore it or clear the phone cache then try to install it so it fails. Usually I dont get the pop ups for a couple days after that.
All 4 yes. When I flashed BL finally it installed OTA fine.
You've been saying he can OTA flashing everything but BL. You cannot in fact do that. You have to flash all 4.

I have only ever flashed the 3. Done this twice on my phone, once on a buddies. So thats simply not the case. When he said the install failed was that the install of pf2 or the ota install. Remember you need to use the "official" aka not prince version of odin to install the pf2 files. As far as the ota goes, no idea what you giys are doing wrong. My process has been, odin 3.12.3 pf2 all but bootloader, setup phone, connect to wifi, search for ota, download ota, install ota, finish "personalizing" device, odin with prince cosmey the engineering bl, reboot, root, reboot, supersu pseudo and enable su from boot, reboot, then flashfire v15 script, reboot, flashfire xposed, reboot. Nevr have i once had an issue.
The OTA will fail on install after download if the system has been modded at all. So all 4 need to be flashed to be fully stock.
Have a question here, we get a lot of US imported phones here in Pakistan, mostly AT&T and Verizon S7 edge phones.
They've got carrier bloat and whatnot, I remember reading people flashing Verizon ROMs to get that to work properly on their AT&T phone and flashing AT&T on a T-Mobile phone to get that to work properly, so if one flashes a G935U firmware on a G935V, is it expected to work fine and act as an ordinary Snapdragon 820 S7 edge with no carrier bloat or anything?
All replies will be appreciated.
Thanks

I have, but there have been reports of it not working for some people as well, so I wanted to know if it's a legit method or if it's trial and error and it works for some and it doesn't work for others, because if it does work officially, then it'd solve a huge headache on choosing US variant phones here and we can all relax since the 935U firmware can be flashed on carrier branded phones.
Now, I need to get my hands on an American S7 edge to test this out myself.
Off course without testing nothing can be confirmed ... But most people r too faint hearted to try it

All of them. AP includes the system, recovery and cache, CP includes modem, BL includes bootloader, and CSC includes sales code.
The ROMs for S7 usually come with CSC and HOME_CSC, the latter will not wipe your device and keep the Verizon CSC which may cause issues and require you to factory reset your phone, the normal CSC files wipes the data and switches your CSC to the new one you're trying to flash.
Choose whichever one you want but I'd suggest the normal CSC just to be safe.

Oh, so Verizon to T-Mobile swap is fine.
Thanks for the heads up!
Whilst your post is is informative, I hope you will excuse me being a little pedantic, if the phone is "hard bricked" it can't be fixed and conversely if it cab be fixed then generally that would be considered "soft bricked".

So far it CAN'T be fixed, so for now consider it a hard brick.
And stop arguing semantics when we are trying to actually help people and warn them before they brick their phones.
Very scary. Prevents Comsey ODIN from working?

So does it apply to the international model too? If I get a G955F from Germany and flash a XEU firmware, it will brick?
I Have a doubt here. I am in a unlocked tmobile firmware on oreo beta. I was planning to flash unlocked firmware to it. so my question is
1) If i flashed unlocked US firmware G955U1 to G955U now, will it hardbrick after BLv3 update.
2)If i flashed now and updated to Blv3 after G955U1 will it be stuck to that firmware forever?
Thanks
xdanilva said:
This applies to all American/Snapdragon and Exynos S8, S8+ and Note 8 models once BLv3 comes out for those models.
If you flashed a out of region firmware such as G955W, G955F, G955FD etc.
Flash back to your original model firmware or you'll be hard bricked. I'll post updates about the hard brick part. There's some news developing about how to fix the hard brick.

Does this only affect U.S. models or will this affect all models? Also, does this mean there will be no more rooting these devices or can you still root them as long as your phone didn't originally have v3? I.e., the modders can still build versions of the new modified firmware with v3 replaced with the old one? Or will those of us who want to keep our root have to just never ever update (through flashing)?
I'm sorry... this means we can't install custom firmware after this ? what i can do now to prevent this ? i have 955FD and not installed custom firmware or root yet... i want to be able to install custom firmware ... what can i do ?
Seems that Samsung reads XDA as well.... Targeted "security patch"... ?
