The solution for Wildfire Battery life is too short
If your Wildfire's battery life is too short , charge 2 times 1 day (8-10 hours).
This may be solve the problem.
*****Important: If use this in 3G area, set the network type in WCDMA/GSM Auto, this is better than WCDMA only.
- Press call, input *#*#4636#*#*
- Select the Phone Information
- You see the CID (if the number is change every 1-5 minutes)
If CID doesn't change, it can't help you (I think)
Step 1: Now you go to Setting, turn off the Time & Day update
Step 2: Go to 'Setting' - 'Call Setting'.
You will see the "Cell Broatacst" in 'Orther Call Setting.
- Turn on the "Cell broatcast" in Message.
- After that, turn off the " Cell broatcast"
This work with 2.1 and 2.2 for me.
That is My experience. Before that, My phone battery life was 8 hours when I was in University (the Cell ID change every 1 minute), But it is long (2day) when I was home (the Cell ID doesn't change).
I use my phone in full 3G area, but this can help in 2G (I think)
I think my phone in the area between 2-3 cell tower, it change Cell ID. The Cell ID had changed, the phone will update the Day & Time, so that the battery power is left.
This maybe a bug of HTC's radio rom. I hope HTC can't solve this bug.
Now my phone battery life is 2 day.
where can i find the cell broadcast setting?
i will test it with my wildfire
it in the Setting - Call
How to do it on cm6?
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Just select "Only GSM" instead of "GSM/WCDMA Automatic".
Remaining battery : %40 after 3 days 15 hours...
Yeah 3G just eats your battery
hmm...nothing happens when I "call" that number....
I know it worked before... :/

I think you are doing something wrong. Because you can't MAKE A CALL to this number. When you enter these wildfire opens a hidden menu
That is good with my phone
I use it in Japan, full 3G area.
You put the Call, input *#:#4636#*#*, waiting, not call.
The Testing screen, will come to.

Well, yeah, I should have written dial instead of call. Sorry for my bad english
Nonetheless, I put the word in quotation marks and even added that "I know it worked before". I spent time with that hidden menu a couple of times before and now it refuses to show up. I have no idea what's wrong.
Well, I'll try this once I know how to get to that menu again, then

this looks to be very much correct, that's because when I was travelling back home, its around 400kms from here, inbetween it consumed hell of battery, and also mobile was getting heat. even I tried many things. thanks for this valuable information.
Good trick. My battery had lived for 5 hours, but since applied per your steps it now has lived for 1 day with taking only 2%. I also set network seaching to manual.

then click ok???
Help please anyone.
Earlier today my phone lost service...i wasn't too bothered as I was home and the wifi is still working well.
I thought there was no orange service! Turns out my sim card isn't being detected (nor is any other one i've tried)
I did drop my phone early...but it's in a hard back case and it landed on its front and this has never occurred before.
What to do? Will a repair cost a bomb?
check ur IMEI and baseband...
i gues they'll be unknown
yep unknown?
This just happened to me just few minutes ago. Try turning off your phone, remove battery and SIM. Re-insert battery and turn on without SIM. If your radio service is restored, turn off and turn on with SIM this time.
This seems to happen to me whenever I try to calibrate my battery using the app in market by NEMA.
I'm going to have a backup of my efs folder and root explorer app now because I'm scared.
^ thanks will try that!
My airplane sign is on though! and has been for ages now-despite airplane mode being disabled?
Lol okay so I have two issues...sim problem AND
the phone refuses to switch off flight mode (despite the fact it's not activated in settings) Wifi comes on but bluetooth won't as it's in "flight mode"-sigh
If you have some radio service restored, then there is still some hope:
Go into phone dialer, punch in *#*#4636#*#*. Then go in Phone Information, scroll down, and there should be a drop-down box selection there. Select "GSM/CDMA auto (PRL)". Wait few seconds. Hit your menu soft-key. Select "Select radio band". Select "Automatic", OK, then go back to Phone info Menu. Hit "Turn off radio", wait few seconds until you lose all radio connections. Then hit "Turn on radio" and see if you get your radio connections restored.
If you can't do any of the previous steps then your efs nv_data.bin file is probably corrupt or something. Try removing battery, wait few seconds, turn on phone without SIM, turn off phone, re-insert SIM, then turn on. Repeat instructions on previous paragraph.
If you're still SOL, then you need help from someone else. Try searching "efs restore" from the parent forum thread "Samsung Galaxy S II I9100". I found a thread with [FIXED] tag that may show some help regarding this.
My S2 is also in similar mode .. tried ur instructions but unable to start the radio please help
the same think for me
i had this with ke7 modem and when i changed to kh3 it stoped
Apologies for hijacking this thread but I have a similar problem in that I can't get a 3G signal either.
In my case, it happened when I was at my local cinema and I managed to pick up a 3G signal in there which I used to do a quick check of my email before the signal switched itself off.
Usually if the phone is out of range of a 3G signal, the signal would switch itself off then back on once the phone was in range of a 3G signal and yet, when I was back outside, I couldn't get a 3G signal.
I thought it was the SIM card at first but it's definitely not that. I finally managed to install VillainROM after much difficulty yesterday and it fixed a problem I had with the phone being stuck in Flight Mode but it didn't fix the problem involving not being able to pick up a 3G signal anywhere.
Hello,
I recently flashed CM7 stable, and very happy that the cold-rebooting problem disappeared. But a new problem arises: After some time (several hours maybe) the phone got "dead" silently, i.e. cannot call (just dialing constantly) or receive call (got "shut down" prompt). But the signal display shows good (-71~-51dbm). The system is relatively clean, and killing running services that can be killed do not help (only settings, maps, google play services, android keyboard cannot be killed). After a reboot it gets work again. What should I do to troubleshoot?

Reinstalling is the last thing I will do, since I have found something that may be relevant. When the error appeared, *#*#4636#*#* testing mode -> phone information will show "preferred network type" as "WCDMA preferred". Since I only have a GSM SIM card without 3G function, that may be the cause. But that cannot be changed when the error occurs, i.e., change that to "GSM only", quit the setting, re-enter, and it have reverted to "WCDMA preferred" automatically. Before the error occurs, that setting can be switched normally.
In settings->wireless & networks->mobile network settings, I have always set "GSM only" in network preferences, and ticked "use only 2G networks". When the error occurs, "GSM only" in network preferences is still there, but "use only 2G networks" is unticked automatically, and cannot be changed either, i.e. tick it, quit the setting, re-enter, and it have reverted to unticked status automatically.
The error will not recover itself; only re-booting can solve the error (switch airplane mode do not help because airplane mode switching also do not work when error occurs). I also found that when that error occurs, battery drains very quickly ( lost 40% one night).
Is this a known bug of CM7 or android? I googled and see lots of similar complains.
I do live in a area with unstable signal. Just now I observed a sudden signal dropping (from -73 to -113dbm) and then phone reconnected successfully (back to -77dbm). I checked *#*#4636#*#* testing -> phone information immediately, the "preferred network type" has been changed from "GSM only" to "GSM auto (PRL)", and in settings->wireless & networks->mobile network settings, "use only 2G networks" has been un-ticked again. But the phone can still work normally in this state. And I know if next time the "preferred network type" be changed to "WCDMA preferred", then I have to re-boot again.
wcdma perferred again
I cannot dial again. The signal strength is -57dbm (even better?!). It just keep dialing and never ends. Even if I tap End button, it will keep "hanging up" but cannot hang up. As expected, "preferred network type" has been changed to "wcdma perferred" again, and "use only 2G networks" has been un-ticked again. How can I fix them?

Rebooting again... Yes I have tried baeband switching for dozens of times before I realized that "WCDMA preferred" problem may be the real culprit. I have tried ms2ginger before CM7, but it did not solve another problem: reboot when cold, so I did not test it much. And, aren't they based on CM? They are likely to have same problem.
I think maybe because the GSM signal is poor, after it loses the signal and tries to reconnect, it finds a better WCDMA signal from another provider and got allured sticking on it .. Sounds un-logical.
I hope there's some guidance that can fix that network preference setting to GSM only, and the problem will be sure to solve.
I find some information about Getril, which detect whether your baseband matches RIL, but it's for other phone models and cannot run on Defy. Does Defy have such RIL problem too?
Battery usage picture
Mainly the problem occurs at home, for the signal is poorer in my home. When I go to work the phone could last longer. The attached picture is typical: Roughly the former 2/3 of the curve is night at home, and the later 1/3 is day at work. The battery drops more quickly at home than work. At night, wakelock is normal, but CPU is running at 300MHz all the time. Only in the later 1/3 CPU can go to deep sleep. At night the signal shows green (it's actually WCDMA signal I think), but the phone cannot make or receive calls.
(if this is in the wrong place please tell mee where it belongs)
Hello all,
got a strange prob. here (lg g2,d02,xenonHD rom 5.0.2) almost all the time I have to enter factory settings menu(via *#*#4636#*#* contrary to mostly 3845#*802#), switch off radio and switch on again to be able to call, if I don't do that immediately when hitting "dial" it says "call ended". Now I found out that by switching bands in that menu (eg from LTE/CDMA/PRL (AUTO) to LTE/CDMA) it works as well but now I noticed that after a reboot it switched back in used bands, so the settings aren't stored. Any idea how they're saved?
anyone?

Is this a signal issue? I had MMS issues from before. I decided to do a factory data reset. Then this signal/wifi combo on the top right showed up in the photo listed on imgur. Or is this a bug? My wifi has been bad recently to add to it. No download booster or dev settings for aggressive handoff either. Any help is appreciated, thanks.
I noticed this on the first day I had my device (Wifi and LTE active at same time). Thereafter it went away. It may be that, on initial boot (or after factory reset), phone is communicating with network to send device info and status (IMEI, etc) to TMo. Once that's done, the simultaneous icons stop. Just a theory.
It comes and goes for me. I did two resets because of a phone dialer issue after using package disable pro.
you might want to chill on that PDP for now, until you get things sorted.
I've also seen the LTE icon pop-up on occasion while on WiFi. It seems to happen when the phone has been sitting awhile and I turn the screen on.
