The solution for Wildfire Battery life is too short
If your Wildfire's battery life is too short , charge 2 times 1 day (8-10 hours).
This may be solve the problem.
*****Important: If use this in 3G area, set the network type in WCDMA/GSM Auto, this is better than WCDMA only.
- Press call, input *#*#4636#*#*
- Select the Phone Information
- You see the CID (if the number is change every 1-5 minutes)
If CID doesn't change, it can't help you (I think)
Step 1: Now you go to Setting, turn off the Time & Day update
Step 2: Go to 'Setting' - 'Call Setting'.
You will see the "Cell Broatacst" in 'Orther Call Setting.
- Turn on the "Cell broatcast" in Message.
- After that, turn off the " Cell broatcast"
This work with 2.1 and 2.2 for me.
That is My experience. Before that, My phone battery life was 8 hours when I was in University (the Cell ID change every 1 minute), But it is long (2day) when I was home (the Cell ID doesn't change).
I use my phone in full 3G area, but this can help in 2G (I think)
I think my phone in the area between 2-3 cell tower, it change Cell ID. The Cell ID had changed, the phone will update the Day & Time, so that the battery power is left.
This maybe a bug of HTC's radio rom. I hope HTC can't solve this bug.
Now my phone battery life is 2 day.
where can i find the cell broadcast setting?
i will test it with my wildfire
it in the Setting - Call
How to do it on cm6?
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Just select "Only GSM" instead of "GSM/WCDMA Automatic".
Remaining battery : %40 after 3 days 15 hours...
Yeah 3G just eats your battery
hmm...nothing happens when I "call" that number....
I know it worked before... :/

I think you are doing something wrong. Because you can't MAKE A CALL to this number. When you enter these wildfire opens a hidden menu
That is good with my phone
I use it in Japan, full 3G area.
You put the Call, input *#:#4636#*#*, waiting, not call.
The Testing screen, will come to.

Well, yeah, I should have written dial instead of call. Sorry for my bad english
Nonetheless, I put the word in quotation marks and even added that "I know it worked before". I spent time with that hidden menu a couple of times before and now it refuses to show up. I have no idea what's wrong.
Well, I'll try this once I know how to get to that menu again, then

this looks to be very much correct, that's because when I was travelling back home, its around 400kms from here, inbetween it consumed hell of battery, and also mobile was getting heat. even I tried many things. thanks for this valuable information.
Good trick. My battery had lived for 5 hours, but since applied per your steps it now has lived for 1 day with taking only 2%. I also set network seaching to manual.

Hi,
I got my MDA COMPACT about a month ago and am having some issues
1. battery life: lasts 14 hours max. I got a new battery (as read another post in forum that suggested this) and it has same battery life? Listed as 14hrs max charged on battery indicator on Sbp Pocket Plus.
No where near the couple of days T-Mobile says it lasts. I would like at least 48 hrs, i need to charge it everyday now!
2. re-sending of messages. - for some reason it sends messages twice quite a lot and sometimes it seems to block and i can get calls or messages and receive them after performing a soft-reset. anyone had similar issues?
any advice would be much appreciated. i dont really want to go back to the store i got it from as i can imagine they will say "you should have got insurance bla bla bla" and try to charge me to fix it.
let me know what you guys think. other than those annoying issues I think he's a complete legend of a phone!
thanks!
-Neil.
With regard to battery I had it my self and I said bla bla bla more than did so they change it to spare themself the headache and my visits every day.
The secound problem acccording to my little knowleldge I know one program that causes this which is Pocket plus just in case you have it installed there is special setting to aviod it.
hi,
thanks for your response.
yes, it was pocket plus causing that - i fixed it now.
about the battery - did you get a new battery or a new handset? how long does the batter last now? do you know how long the battery life is supposed to be?
thanks again!

Have you set your screen to shut off at 30 seconds, and the device to shut off at 1 minute of inactivity? Also, don't run BT unless you are actually using a BT device.
My XDA mini lasts about 2 days under normal use (don't know exactly - I generally charge it daily when I sync my schedule).
If I use GPRS a lot, it might need a charge once per day. But with light use I have used it 2.5 days before recharging. I don't usually do this, but it would be capable of charging at work on Friday and not charging it again until Monday morning.

The problem is that Pocket Plus is closing the messaging application when you are hitting the close button and that *may* be before the message has been confirmed sent, so messaging re-sends it or something. Basically you have to set the messaging application as an exclusion in Pocket Plus:
Open the Pocket Plus options;
Select the Close Button and hit "Feature Options"
Select the right hand tab (Exceptions)
Click "Add" and then "Browse..."
Find \Windows\tmail.exe and click OK.
That will stop Pocket Plus closing Messaging when you hit the close button (you can still tap and hold the close button for the Pocket Plus option menu and close it from there) and should solve the duplicate message problem.
brykins - that worked great.
My problem now is that the time stamp on the recipient is off by a couple of hours. The time on my JAM is fine. Any clues?

No idea - is that on text messages or emails? I've heard of problems like that on emails where smtp or the recipients pop3 server is mis-configured, or one of the other is set to the wrong time zone, but never on text messages.

Have you set you backlight to the lowest level, set the backlight to turn off at 30 seconds, and set the device to power down at 1 minute? I usually get 2 days or so out of mine. However, the time between charges will vary based on how often you use the device.
hi you all
I just bought a htc cruise and flashed it to English rom. but it doesn't work very well, so I want to go back. but how?
I'm using 6.1 german and radio 1.58.21.23 from bepe right now, but the radio thing is killing me. I don't have signal or very low, why is that so? my provider is sunrise.
BIG issue, there's almost no signal and the battery drains quickly! I can't phone or receive calls. i got no more battery over one night.
Please who lives or uses the same thing pls tell me how to fix it. I want to go back to 6.0 or solution to fix phone issue.
Thank you all so much who can evtl help me out, have a nice day
There are many threads about this problem...
For example:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=386281
Try to flash Murata radio...
hey, thank you so much, it did solve my problem with that russian stuff.
now i got 4 bars indoors and outdoors. see ya
I've no problems with mine, Radio 1.58.21.23 - Swisscom Mobile.
that's weird, but another problem:
My battery only holds like for 30 min. with original rom it holds like 10 hours and many days without screen backlight.
What's wrong with that now?
There are many things that can drain the battery.
1. you use Push Mail every 15 minutes or every hour?
2. is your 3G/data and your wireless line ever connected?
To test the battery you can use Battery Status plugin, in idle mode the battery must be around 25-35mA.
hi What is push mail? i haven't configured any mail service yet.
wireless and bluetooth are off for sure. There's only an icon with big E,
I assume that's a regular phone signal gms, no 3G
ok, if i turned that phone off in idle mode without backlight. it's about 5-8mA. As soon as I turn the screen on using that power button, it's going high up to 80mb.
That should be normal you say?
with 6.1 where is my GPRS? it seems not to be able to turned on.
NODATA doesn't work with 6.1.
thank you
For those of you having battery issues I found a way to DRAMATICALLY improve the battery life.
I tried this and I have seen a huge improvement.
First things first, go into Settings> About Phone> Battery> Battery Use> Cell Standby. Assuming your phone has been on, or off the charger for ~10 minutes, it should show Time Without Signal at around 50%.
Next thing, press HOME, and bring up the dialer. Dial *#*#4636#*#* (Do not press "Call"). After a second, it should bring up the "Testing" menu.
Go into Phone Information, press MENU, and tap "select radio band." You should experience a Force Close, don't panic, this was supposed to happen. Scrolling down shows that the preferred network type is GSM auto (prl).
What this means is that even though you are connected to a CDMA network, your phone is trying to find a GSM network, preventing the radio from sleeping, and causing excessive battery drain.
Remedy this by tapping GSM auto (prl), and changing it to CDMA auto (prl).
Now your done, your TWS should drop dramatically, and you should experience much better battery life!
Note: You need to do this every time you reboot.
I wish there was a way to make an application to toggle this thing on and off so you don't have to do it every time you reboot the phone.
Going to try this for tomorrow and see how my battery life is. Seems silly that with all the customization HTC did to the OS they missed this detail.
seems weird; has anyone confirmed if this works?
-m
Just checked mine and it was already CDMA(auto).
btw for what it's worth, my EVO has been off the charger for ~2 hours, and the cell standby details just shows "time on: 2h 19m". Mine is also defaulting to 'CDMA auto (PRL)'
Perhaps a recentl prl update fixed this?
-m
Nice find though - the battery history tab (especially the all time tab) is awesome..
For instance, I've been seeing my GPS turn on and stay on while indoors.. according to these stats, the 'movies' app is the one that was using it the most..
-m
I found mine in CDMA already too
Mine was GSM my son's was on cdma, we both did the prl updates and both of us did the sd card update as well.
I guess some phones were on cdma by default some weren't.
Maybe thats why some people are calling other crazy for the battery drain.
thanks...interesting find...mine was on gsm. everytime i reboot?! damn.
Mine was set to CDMA with Cell standby of 48%.
mines was on gsm also..but i rebooted and it stood on cdma..it didnt default back
There is an app in the market called "network" that is basically a shortcut to this menu.

You could just use spare parts from the market place it shows you all of that
Mine was on GSM. I'll see if my battery life is any better tomorrow.
Mine was set to GSM. The phone came from Google I/O so maybe that was a bit different? I'm excited to see how this improves it! If it does...good find! If not...still probably a good thing to change!
Thank you so much for this, it seemed to fix my sporadic signal issue!!!!
just changed mine to CDMA thanks

Hi,when I remove the battery from my device so my date&time get changed.Restore to the latest definition .
If I'll define the date&time in the device for example 18.05.2011 23:00 and five minutes later I'll remove the battery no matter if I before it turn off the device or not.
Still when I insert the battery and turn on the device ,my time&date will be 18.05.2011 23:00.
The five minutes dont count.
I've this problem when my OS is wm6.5 or android.no difference.
Why?
Thanks.
If you just have the issue of date and time mismatch, try to set the option to 'Get values from network'. What I mean is to set your time and date to sync with the network time, that way it will stay updated.
Regarding the issue you are facing, I can't get much information on it.
I dont have a 3g account and I dont have a Wi-Fi nearby.
So I cant get values from network...
Any solution?
Thanks.
There is probably no solution for you. Without an active power source, it won't update the time. As I doubt there is a capacitor or battery on the system board to keep the time updated, then when you pull the battery, it just remembers the last time and doesn't update it till you put the battery back in. You're stuck just setting the clock manually in that case then.

Don't pull out the battery.
I agree with Drashna, you need a time source for your phone so with no network connection you can't get one.
Are this failure valid for all HD2 devices or only in mine?
Thanks.
Hi! ive been having same thing lately. not before. have you had it always?
I think this is same thing that happened to my HTC wizard.. its internal battery for clock died after year or so and this EXACTLY same that happened with it. they replaced it at htc when they repaired its screen and it worked afterwards.
or capacitor whatever its real name is.
any more people?
I have had hd2 since january 2010
I had my device for almost a year...
And if I remember right I don't have this failure from the beginning.
it does it on mine for android but normally corrects itself by updating itself fromthe network
Hi guys. i have Mi 9T with 10.3.11 global miui, every single time i reboot the phone battery drops 1% but no drop issue in normal usage and just sometimes like once in a week phone gets hot and battery drops faster than normal like 30% in an hour without any usage until i reboot the phone and its normal again... is this rom issue ...anybody encounter such thing? any solution ???
I also have the issue for battery drop every 1 week, I also notice it would happen in the midnight on every Sunday. Not only happened on ROM 10.3.11 but also on 10.3.7 and 10.3.9. I sent the phone to Mi store with PCB replacement but still happen. I guess the OS is just doing the house keeping for routine check. I have no idea of it so just power off the phone in the night of every Saturday.....

tnx for reply , but i don't have night drop issue... actually its really good like 2-3 % drop even with network signal... for me it happens randomly and you know that by feeling the heat of phone so if i reboot the phone it stops ...also 1% drop happens all the time when i reboot the phone its weird
Hi, y girlfriend have the same issue since yesterday. Battery drop by 10/20% without being used, wifi always off.
No evidence in battery stats..
Have you guys tried the changes to network mode?
Go to dialer and type: *#*#4636#*#*
On phone information 1 and 2, change preferred network type to LTE/WCDMA
I read that the default network type is based on Chinese networks and causes a constant search for network connectivity. Its been happening in lots of Xiaomi phones. Hopefully that explains your battery drain, certainly helped mine
The only annoying thing is that you have to do it all over again any time phone restarts

Didn't know that just changed it. It's my first xiaomi phone and I'm loving it . But first days I got excellent battery life, like 12-15 minutes of screen per 1% of battery and now it's like 9 or less. It happened since I unlocked the bootloader but I locked it again and still the same what could be? Now I'll see if changing the network thing enhances it but I've no clue
tired of this issue. Seems that all global (PFJMIXM), have this problem, and i have it almost every day. At night or morning in standby. The two .big processors get stuck at 1843mhz until i reboot the phone. No apps open, no nothing. Downloaded again the latest firmware package and still happens... someone emailed xiaomi about this??
Well, i emailed them about this... not much hope about a response...
Just disable "show fingerprint icon in lockscreen", under the the password and security menu. This fixed the problem for me.

Turned that off from the beginning, that have nothing to do with a sudden battery drain
