MIUI 8 for S7/S7 Edge!!!!!!!! - Samsung Galaxy S7 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi, finally we got it!!!!
http://www.htcmania.com/showthread.php?t=1299612
TW based, android version 6.0.1, i will test it

Great news. It's a start.
It would be nice to have some feedback, bugs, general performance, camera, etc

Well, camera is stock (rom is TW based), there are some irrilevant bugs (still in beta stage)..... Fantastic rom, great performance, all sensors work, good call quality, speaker very loud, butter smooth and very fast, but the main problem is the battery life.... Too bad!!!!! Also with fingerprint disabled. It's a shame, because i love Miui and my Mi5 is fantastic with battery life, 2 days of normal use and i've got 47%.... P.S. sorry for my bad english

I'm trying this https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/development/rom-miui-8-exynos-s7e-t3576359 build 26/3, battery life in stand-by is more good

Quick question, I'm wondering if Samsung TW framework can be integrated with MIUI, LineageOS integration with TW should be possible as well?

Will there be a Nougat-based MIUI anytime soon?

I9505 - Unhappy since years with all roms

G'Day all my friends of the shining sun!
I'm a S4-owner since the first second and I really like that mobile... On the hardware site. I switched from the iPhone 4s and I loved to playing around with Android, Tasker, Flashing... Etc pp.
But I missed this "set it up and just use it"-feeling. Why? Because I have to care about the battery life, about the speed and about the storage space. So I tried all possible roms, starting with A like Alucard, over CM, Google Edition, Samsung Stock, crDroid, Abele, optimized cm... And now I'm with kushan rom.
Thank you all for this fantastic community, for the development, for the reports, help, Q&A, love and peace for the world!! There are also nice tweaks, features, gimmicks and other crazy stuff for everyone - awesome!
BUT: It feels like that there is no really stable build in any rom. There are still some little bugs that no one cares about because of the new Android (every year) and no one fixed it. Especially the CM's only nightly and monthly builds politic... Maybe I have very exotic problems or I'm still to stupid to find the stable one.. Anyway I'm unhappy
I'm just looking for a really stable and basic rom, that is fast and low on battery consumption. I just use the smartphone for browsing, sms, camera and Bluetooth music connection to my car... That's it, nothing more.
I don't like to start a big discussion of the best rom or sth like that, I'm just looking for tips because I don't have more ideas. Additionally I don't care about the newest rom... It just have to work (see the paragraph before).
Thank you
Nira

Performance and battery don't go along very well.
For stability and battery life you would be looking at stock roms. But, for some reason, people have problems even with stock roms. So what does that tell you?
Even stock roms aren't completely stable.
Marshmallow took android's speed up a notch. Everything seems snappier. Although, there are still issues. But they vary from user to user.
People say that Lollipop didn't improve over Kitkat in terms of battery life.
Toucwhiz still has the best camera app and can make most of the camera features (HDR, Slow-Motion). And it probably also has better battety life. We are talking about stock touchwhiz, not a custom touchwhiz.
Slim roms are very basic, with a few extras.
AOSP roms from JDCTeam are even more stripped down. It's just basic android.
Keep in mind that wifi and mobile data are big battery drainers. I can maybe get 2 hours SOT with wifi or mobile data activated. But I can probably double or triple that with wifi and mobile data off.
But I don't use the more fancy features of the phone, like GPS and such.

Battle of the ROM

Hello, because development for G4 has increased considerably ,i want to know who it's 'best' rom for G4 , in your opinion . I made a pool above to vote . A good day.
IMO I really like Imperium, best overall ROM I just keep going back to. However, battery life sucks on all stock ROMs I have tried. I was on various CM/AOSP ROMs for last few months as the battery life improved almost 4x more time between charges!! The best I found there with absolutely no problems, was CandySix. The others had a few small bugs here and there, DU/RR. I ended up going back to Imperium yesterday because I miss the camera and so far, touch wood, the battery is a lot better, took it off charge last night about 8pm and still at 50% now (16:20), almost CM quality!
I have been using cyanogenmod for 5 years on my previous phones, with this phone though I REALLY like the camera on this phone and thats the only reason why I am on the stock rooted and debloated rom, I cant explain how much I like AOSP look and feel on my phones (I am currently on the verge of getting a HTC 10)
Camera quality is terrible on any rom that is not based on stock rom.

Best rom?

Best ROM, stable, daily usage and with a good battery performance? Now i'm on CM14.1 official bit the battery drain very fast :crying: hope you can help me :good:

To be honest, best rom overall is samsungs stock rom 6.0.1. All the features (gps, nfc.....) work, you get good battery life, much more stable than any other rom, and even better performance than any cm. Also all the icons in status bar in cm looks retarded and its hard to understand what they do as there is no text below them, you also get a good camera app that no aosp android has. So yes, overall samsungs rom is the best, iam very dissapointed in the whole cm and aosp roms, they try to bring something else, but they fail miserably to bring any improvements, as there is too many bugs that get in the way.
For best overall ROM, stock 6.0.1 is what you want. Performance and battery life is best on stock.
As for custom ROM, my favourite is Resurrection Remix v5.7.4. Battery life is great (not as good as stock) and has all of the customisation features that I like. CM13 is also good and I find it the most stable custom ROM from my usage. Gaming performance however is a hit and miss on AOSP ROMs.

So i am not the only one that has seen even 2d gaming is very bad on CM.
AOSP? Resurrection Remix. Theyve been rockin as of late. TW? MOAR 7.0. Other than the fact that its a bit old and isnt supported by the devs anymore, its a killer TW ROM.

Best custom ROM for LG G3?

Hello,
Since LG abandoned LG G3 (right?) and my warranty expires soon I'd like to change the ROM. Do you know any custom ROM that's as stable as the stock one? G3 is my daily driver and I don't want to experience any problems/bugs.
Unfortunately I've heard there are issues with Lineage and RR. Is that true?
Thanks.

To be honest, there are some problems with Lineage but it is still in Nightly so it is to be expected. In my opinion the best one (and the most popular) is Fulmics 6.9. It is based on the stock LG Rom and makes your G3 look like a G5 with UX5.0. I've been using it since day one and have had no problems with it at all. No bugs whatsoever.

Thanks you! I'll chech it out.
Fulmics 6.9 Masrhmallow and Resurection Remix Nougat with multiboot :cyclops:
For me AOSCP is very good. Stable, decent battery and no bugs.
Cheers

If you would like to preserve the camera quality, then stock ROMs are the way to go. The bad thing about stock ROMs is you won't have Nougat with them, and worst of all, they generally don't have as much battery life as the AOSP Nougat ROMs and feel a bit less snappier.
If you would like to have the best battery life and/or performance, go with AOSP ROMs.
From my experience, best ROMs out there for LG G3:
ROMs with LG UX 5.0:
- Fulmics ROM
ROMs with LG UX 4.0:
- Tekcafe UX4
Fulmics have a few extra options in the camera and is much more (and easily) customizable through its Fulmics Tweaks menu, but Tekcafe UX 4.0 feels more fluid and snappier. For me, the extra speed bit is not a deal breaker, but sometimes I really hate the white UI of UX 5.0 - it appears fugly and eye-piercingly-white at times!
AOSP- and CM-based ROMs:
If you want a relatively more stable Nougat release, go with Mokee or Resurrection Remix, though AOKP will also probably perform well, too.
If you can live with a few bugs and a "dark" camera when you launch the camera (you need to take a picture with the camera for once so that the brightness gets properly adjusted for the following shots), AOSP Extended or Dirty Unicorns unoffical Nougat release should also be fine. Last time I tried them, AOSP Extended and either AOKP Nougat or else Dirty Unicorns Nougat (I can't remember which is the one now) had substantially better camera performance than most AOSP ROMs out there despite the aforementioned camera auto brightness bug. The problem is this auto brightness bug really started annoying the hell out of me after some time, so I switched back to stock ROMs.
Resurrection Remix Nougat was mostly fine, but sometimes I felt that it got slowed down too much if you enabled the Power Saver or lowered the performance profile of the phone through the battery menu.
If you want an AOSP-based Marshmallow ROM, Mokee, Resurrection Remix and Dirty Unicorns will probably be the better choice for you. Although the last Marshmallow release of Dirty Unicorns was an unofficial build for the D855, I liked how fluid it felt. The phone really felt slick - like a well-oiled machine :good: Unfortunately I stopped using it as the camera was nowhere near as good as stock. If you don't care about the camera, you may give it a try.
I hope this answer is of any help to you. Good luck with your new ROM!
Interesting thread, might i ask which ROM would give the most adequate camera quality? Thank you.

Do you have the LG G3 LS990? Thats what I have and I just cant seem to find good instructions or help on installing the Lineage rom.
Since my comment above, I was able to get the Lineage OS 14.1 installed and working. So far so good, I like it. But I am no expert with this.

Stock ROMs or Stock-based ROMs should be your choice for the best camera quality.
So far I have tried the stock LG v30b, Tekcafe UX4 v3.5, N&N ROM v10.0 and Fulmics 6.9. I have been on Fulmics for some time now, so I can't make definitive comments about the others as my memory is fading, but from what I remember they were all very close to each other, if not identical. With Fulmics, you have a few extra options such as FHD 60 FPS video recording. That might be present on N&N v10.0, too, but honestly I can't remember it at the moment. For me, the most striking difference between the LG G5 camera app in Fulmics and the original LG G3 camera app in Stock v30b/Tekcafe UX4 was NOT in image quality but rather in colours/saturation. In daylight conditions I wouldn't see any difference, but in environments illuminated with lamps in a less-than-ideal manner, I get a bit more saturated and slightly yellowish pictures with Fulmics v6.9. With Stock v30b/Tekcafe UX4, colours seemed more natural, but also the picture seemed to have slightly less contrast with a hint of slightly washed-out colours. Honestly, I can't say one tops the other - all have their cons and pros, but all should be more than satisfying at the end of the day. As for photos taken using HDR, I found that the LG V20 camera mod found in the Fulmics Hub worked the best for me. If you zoomed in a bit after taking the photo, you could see that it reproduced colours a bit more faithully while being slightly less grainy, but it occasionally hung or crashed on my phone, so I ended up reverting to the stock G5 camera, which ALWAYS works great for me! :good:
If you want to preserve the camera quality, but want to get rid of most LG crapware, you can try Nimax Slim Fit, I've been using it in the last few days and so far I'm really happy with it. It's one of the most snappy and battery friendly stock based ROMs that I've tried.
I tried the AOSP pixel g3. So far it seems stable, however its far from the G3's stock rom. But honestly, nothing beats the vanilla android experience.

I flashed the LineageOS Official Latest nightly build a few days ago. It seems to be good, very responsive and good battery.
Unfortunately....there is an issue (on my device anyways) with the screen rotation not working. I have tried every possible configuration under screen rotation settings and it just wont rotate any screen or app.
After hours on google, this site and even submitting a post on here for help and getting no responses, I am going to give up on Lineage and move to RR I think.
My device is the LG G3 LS990
Allow me to join this thread too, I am confused on choosing the better rom too.
My standard on choosing rom is
1st: battery life
2nd: speed (performance)
3rd: customization on layout
Most important is battery life. I have tried many roms, I flashed AOSP-CAF for its pure android & slim, but I cant even use wm density command, plus customising the notification tiles.
---------
I flashed Fulmics, Tek-Cafe and crdroid, stock based & crdroid cannot read my SIM contacts, and crdroid drains battery pretty fast.
--------
I am using Cloudy G3 now but there are bugs making music app force close sometimes, if there are no good custom roms, I will be flashing back stock v10n. Since Kingroot is not compatible woth v30c D855...
----------
Which rom would you recommend in my situation?
Another question: will lowering size to 1080P, and DPI, increase the battery life and performance of the phone?

I am using this rom for some time now...pretty stable, no bugs, clean UI...just flash android 7.1.1 not 7.1.2 as it has some bugs! Even got 4k video in this rom :fingers-crossed:
To answer your another question...lowering DPI would save some battery but many apps wont work and its to buggy if u ask me!

but what I concern is battery and performance...
I moved from STOCK ROM because the voice dial through bluetooth does not work neither Lollipop v21a nor Marshmellow v30b, v30n..
Hands free Voice dial does not work on Fulmics 7.6 as well.
Instead it works with RR and LineageOS but the Camera and stabilty are bad.
What is the most Secure ROM
CRDROID ROM is currently the best now... That's what I'm using right. I promise you won't regret using it... Hit the link to download https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=228321
I have an LS990 and I've had tons of NO SIM issues with CrDroid (both versions). I'll be going back to fulmics for stability and better camera.
Itried many newwest Firmware . Most of It By hardStyler . its good but some kind of many Bug Like in f400 They cannot detect Storage .. You need to go on TWRP mode To transfer file on pc ... For me the best Firware Are Lineage 14.1 Nightly Build... Stable and Fast.. Oreo Is bit Unstable for now Many thing need to Improve... For stability Chose Lineage heres link https://download.lineageos.org/

[Question] Which is overall the best oreo rom?

Hey guys, I've been bit off from this forum, and currently running Validus Nougat ROM on my Le 2. Just wanted to know which Oreo Rom is best and stable in terms of performance and battery life since I wanted to update. Thanks in advance.
In my opinion it's XenonHD. Very good battery life and it's pretty stable. Google camera is a lot stable than other oreo ROMs (currently using google camera from one of the posts in the mods section here in this forum and OpenCamera). I think it's worth a try.

How's the overall performance? Is it any better compare to other roms? Cause every Oreo Ron I tried had sluggish performance and only Validus Nougat ROM feels fluid till date.
Performance is really good. Everything opens fast and gaming performance is awesome too (demanding games will drain the battery fast).
