i900m - Bell Mobility running j4k 2.2. The phone has been ok till day 6 after upgrade to 2.2. I was using the phone, and it just randomly vibrated...though I hit something by accident, then 10 mins later...again.
Then i was using google maps, and it vibrates once, then 5 seconds later it vibrates 3 times quickly, and force closes google maps. I have been reading about force closes as being a sign of the 'end'...is there ANYTHING i can do to extend the life a little in case samsung comes out with a quick fix sometime soon? Please help...i'm paranoid now all the time
You can also try a factory reset/clear all caches and more (through recovery menu) and perhaps even flashing a new rom.
I've had problems with force closes after flashing roms as well at times, but these steps helped often (just be sure to backup apps and data because these steps will delete/remove them)
a forc close means problems?? i just bought like 1 week ago and have force closes everyday from launchers games and such.. does it mean my phone is defective?
Probably just a phone software corruption, perform a factor data reset then reflash with partition.. should clean/fix everything.
Clear the phone completly (full factory reset)
In dialer type *2767*3855#
If problems still persist, you will need to flash a new rom.

thats exactly what i'm afraid of: a factory reset.
From what i've been reading about the Bell internal sd issues is that a lot of people experienced the dead internal sd when they rebooted their phones (caught in endless loop)...i'm afraid of ever turning the thing off now!
If you don't turn it off it will eventually freeze.
Your screwed either way,
at least if you turn it off now you may have a chance of saving it.
Just backup all your apps, data and settings. I use Titanium Backup.

i've been experiencing a couple of vibrate and FC's lately, really mean its dying? or just a couple of FC's means the app crashed
Not entirely on topic but:
From my own experience, force closes really don't mean anything. In my mind, a FC is like a good old win 98 program crash, it just happens from time to time. I wouldn't read anything into it unless it starts happening on a regular basis to decent apps.
(And even then, spotify for ex. is notorious for FC-ing. It's annoying, but not something thats fixable)
programs that may help
I have a galaxy s2 too so far noprobs as i havent done much with it just rooted stock rom and making my mind with what rom to try but if you go in market and search for as previous reply titanium backup, superuser, rom manager and the best app for deleting apps root explorer. One of these programms come wit a fix permissions option may help.
First and most, i got scrued big time when i swaped my old phone for this peace of brick at my local market. Phone works like when he wants, litteraly like he has its own will to make my blood pressure go up.
I can never finish whole process to install xrecovery as it crashes in between so i am doomed to use SEUS Firmware. Current one i have are:
2.1-update1 2.1.54 Core 2.6.29 SEMCUser-SEMCHost#1 ver. 2.1.A.0.435
This versont tends to work fine (and also only one i can use), BUT with one big flaw. I have to limit myself from turning WiFi (20% chance of reboot after its activated, not limited to market only; maps, browsing anything can triger this), then i go to market (40% chance to close, 20% chance to return to starting screen of market, 40% chance phone will reboot). I cant install anyting bigger then 2mb. The longer the aplication is downloading i have higher chance to get error downloading file, or file not installed. Even smaller applications i must repeat download at least 3 to 4 times until it installs right. Best game i started were solitare cards (that also brakes after a week), and alchemy (which corupts save file after a week too so i need to reinstall it). I dont even know what market is, as 95% of apps there i cant install.
If i install more then 5 applications on phone it has huge chance not to boot phone at all, and i am doomed to SEUS again.
I have phone 2 months now. Reflashed it over 10 times, crashed over 1000 times, record reboot was 2h of constant restarts right after i put SEUS original firmware 3 weeks ago. I think it reseted like 200 times, until it finaly came up. All the time it was on charger.
Now, my primary suspect is faulty Motherbord, corrupted internal memory or bad battery. What do you all think?
Phone is not under garantee, i am from serbia, no offical SE support here... only general supplier ComTrade. I will try to find new battery (but i think its slim chance). Dont know how to check internal memory integrity as i cant find any app that does that, and for faulty motheboard change... well i can recycle it as industrial waste in that case.

Upgraded to 4.4.4 OTA yesterday, at first it seemed OK but a couple of hours later started freezing when I was using Walkman app. Reinstalled 4.4.4 via PC Companion, seemed OK but now its happening again.
Walkman app is very slow to display contents when I switch to list of artists and even slower when I select an artist to display their albums. Added a playlist in Walkman app, when I tried to display the playlist a few minutes later the app froze. Google play music also freezes. Phone reboots a couple of minutes after freezing
I have 3 widgets on desktop - Walkman, bbc news, xperia camera - all 3 take 2 or 3 minutes to load up after a reboot, didn't notice it taking this long before 4.4.4
When the phone freezes I sometimes get fcs from Google Search.
Anyone else getting similar?
My music is on a 128GB SDXC; music folder is 94.5 GB, contains 1040 folders and 19134 files
Was never a problem before 4.4.4
Will try reformatting card tonight when I get home, if that fails guess I'll have to flash previous release
Phone kept freezing and crashing all morning, especially in walkman app and eventually even in the clock app
And I couldn't download any files, eg from playstore, would get a message that it was going to download but no download notification and the file never arrived
About Phone > Diagnostics > Device Facts shows I have had 15 system restarts between 8am and noon, and under 'apps not responding' there are 460 entries for 'android.process.media' between 7:45 and noon
So, I went to Apps > Running and cleared data/stopped 'Media' and under Apps > All did the same with 'Media Storage'
Rebooted phone, its been up for over 3 hours now with no more freezing or reboots even though I've been using Walkman on and off through this period, and have also downloaded a few apps from play store
Hope this helps anyone else with similar problems

Hey, similar problems
got o2 uk z2, updated to 4.4.4 ever since i must of had 20+ reboots/restarts from crashing and freezing.
i have a sandisk 64gb in there too for reference. but ive been using 4.2.2 without much issues. never frozen.
since 4.4.4 ive factory reset 5 times and repaired via pc companion twice now. having initially done update OTA.
yesterday managed most of the day without problems but then after turning off the device for bed and waking up this morning again severe freezing. at first i thought it was because of two google accounts on my device, although i use only one for app sync etc and the other is just for emails+drive. having removed both google accounts and reinstating just one i got it to work flawlessly yesterday. fyi i have a sw2 smart watch and swr10 smart band. bluetooth unlock is great so i have been using that, one of the main reasons i updated to 4.4.4.
anyway ive tried hardly installing any apps , basically apart from the ones that come with 4.4.4 and whatsapp. and still it froze on me once 15minutes ago.
ive tried your suggestion for stop/clear cache on media and media storage in apps>running. will see how that goes
unsure what else to try. i dont have many 3rd party apps other than stuff like shazam and netflix, not exactly joe bloggs in his bedroom developed apps.
still have my z1, which i remember an update just before z2 released made that buggy. Ive had 3 phones in 18 months, HTC one m7 > Z1 > Z2, thought id stop here with the z2 for awhile. I really thought google and sony would have got their act together by now. i know it isnt just sony, nexus devices have problems after an update, hell even IOS does.
I think this is the last time I bother to update firmware, might as well just cut your losses and change handset or remain on old firmware for as long as possible.

It's happened to me again a couple of times, once when using camera and another time I was downloading a photo from the web. Both times I cleared problem by clearing data from Media Storage, but every time I do this I lose my Walkman playlists

I have experienced playlists downloaded to external storage from Google play music which I subscribe to, randomly dissappearing for months, basically ever since I went from z1 to z2. I could download 15gb of playlists so that I can play when offline and keep easily on my 64gb SanDisk. I tried reformatting the sd card several times.
Because of continued problems now on 4.4.4 im trying the device without any sd card as that could be the culprit
Last few hours ive had no freezing or reboots

Are you losing the music or just the playlist? All my music is copied on from my pc. The music is still there, every time I clear media storage I have to recreate playlists, pain in the backside selecting individual tracks from albums and sorting them into the order I want.
I've emailed Sony support about the problem, will post their response here.
One of the freezes I had was downloading apps from play store, another was downloading photo from internet (download folder is in internal storage) and once was taking pictures with the camera app set to write to internal storage, so in my case don't think it's the sd card.
This android.process.media is a troubled damn process, actually. Many people suffer from it, even other devices with various ROMs. My problem is this "1013 AudioMix wakelock" problem. For example, my phone is on battery for 36 hours now. 2 hours 15 mins is devastated by this process. It kept my phone awake DESPITE that screen was off. So, you think that your phone goes into deep sleep when you press that big silver button on the side of the phone? Not always.
Hello,
I own Huawei Nova (CAN0L11C) with EMUI 5 and Android 7. I use it for more than a year now and so far everything looked great.
However, recently I'm very pissed of the productivity of the phone. I am using it mainly not in my country of origin as I work in a different country, but since I'm here I noticed that the phone acts veeery very slow. It becomes a huge issue to open google maps and start navigating with it, and during that time i don't want to speak about multitasking. It's almost impossible to swithc to other apps.
Here are some things that I tried:
I've cleared up disk space.
From time to time i use some apps like NoxCleaner to clean the memory and caches but this fixes the problem temporarily
I did uninstalled apps that i dont use
Nothing helps much. I would appreciate any suggestions to make that phone great again!
you have to factory reset your phone ( 1st you have to save your personal files on Sdcard )
Settings -------> Advanced setting ------> Backup & Reset -------> Factory Data Reset ------> Reset Phone
yeah im kinda trying to avoid that, but thanks for the suggestion. this will be my last option if nothing else works.
Same problem there. Factory reset already done but nothing changes... Some news on the subject ?

How's your RAM usage? Don't use anti viruses and task killers. They're useless on Android.
You can try LineageOS 14.
Thanks for sure.
I have at least 1Go Ram free. Lags appears on maps, snapchat and screen freeze...
Same problem exists
Same problem happening, any solution for this issue?
I have been experiencing the same slow speeds & lag. The 1st 6 months I was so impressed with the performance of this phone, even comparing it to the performance of the flagships. It was really that good. But, come 8 months down the line, & I'm battling with lag, poor multitasking & screen freezing. Im trying to avoid factory resetting & on top of all this I don't have access to my trusted tools as I can't unlock the bootloader to gain root.
Can somebody look into this please & provide some feedback. I doubt its the processor or hardware causing these issues as the Snapdragon 625 is one of the best in its class & other phones using it aren't experiencing the same problems. I have a feeling its got something to do with the Android system updates of recent. The Google security patches updates. I noticed the speed issues after each update was installed.
FINALLY got to the bottom of my Huawei NOVA's performance issues!!!
Firstly, just want to say, Google & Huawei you are both a bunch of Monkeys !!!
I've owned my fone for two years now, and the latter year the device was just a piece of Sh1t to use, anything like Google Maps, or Assist or 'OK Google' was ridiculous to try and use, ..and everything else was running at like a 3rd performance of what the phone was supposed to be acting like. (hanging & freezing whenever you needed it to do something)
**What really cheesed me off is the amount of times this phone went back to Huawei under Warranty and they didn't even both running a performance test with all their technical know how to identify which process/application was the culprit - & o yes, it was a specific process (Or update rather as the last guy on this Thread assumed it was).
No Android apps either from the play store - like Process identifier apps etc would show any bottleneck in either RAM or CPU when the go slow or hanging was occurring, ..its like it couldn't detect the "layer" of which the issue was occurring on.
So Huawei just kept Factory resetting my phone and sending it back,.then as soon as I load my apps and within a week its all balls again. (And Im wondering if its one of my apps doing it)
To the point: IT IS THE **** GOOGLE APP **** itself, ..or at least the updates that are applied after your fone has completed its factory reset (If you did this) and the next updates come down automatically via Google Play store. (This isn't Google Assist or the Android OS itself,..the listing in the installed apps is just called 'Google' or 'Google LLC' (Im a new user so cant post any images or links yet untill after 10 basic posts first).
Grrr! ..this has been soo frustrating to find this out, ..so I just uninstalled updates for this 'Google App' so its back to the default original the phone came with, & now my phone is absolutely flying again - whilst I still have it loaded with all my apps etc.
So who's to blame here, ..Google for pushing updates which kill the phone OR Huawei should've identified this and responded with either a fix OR that the middle weight Nova can't handle the latest 'Google App' updates.
For the record - I also managed to get my Nova updated to Android Nougat (Which wasn't officially released on Nova UK phones, .. I got the correct firmware/software update etc,... but also since it went from Marshmallow to Nougat it also was crippling slow and therefore I got it reverted back to Android 6 Marshmallow (Now Im wondering if again it was simply that the latest Google App Updates had been applied to Nougat and messed the phone ?? - anyway ..ill keep it on Android 6 for now,..just happy that its responsive again and flying.
I also have to manually press the Microphone on the screen now whenever I want to speak to 'OK Google' ..its not automatic anymore - or rather constantly listening out for me to say 'OK Google' (So this must be applicable to the latest Google App update - but then this Nova just cant handle being on listen the whole time. ... But anyway if that's the price to pay for excellent performance now, ..then I dont mind at all. stuff automatic listening for me to say 'OK Google' Ill control it manually instead.
Its been so long that I forgot how a phone should be, ..its insane how fast my phone is now since uninstalling the frikken Google App)
Dont let this Google App update from your phones original - Disable Android Auto Updates
Hope this Helps you guys. (Actually it will blimming well help)
Peace

THANK YOU! <3 I have uninstalled the Google App leaving untouched rest of the google services like "google apps services" or "maps" etc. Now my phone is working as it should be!
Hi guys. Any update on your overall speed?
I factory reset the phone and it helped a bit for a while. Then I disabled the Google App and it worked like a charm... for a while. Now it's incredibly laggy again.
It's really frustrating to use. I would love to install a custom ROM, alas I don't have the bootloader unlock codes
Good Day all ,
for those 2 problems the solution is very easy ,
1-for the google play services , if you find it on top of the consumption list , just enter settings - apps - choose google play services - clear cash then storage & manage data and clear all cash & data , it will be fixed nearly 99% of the time,
for general exynos bad consumption the real solution to this is to enter settings - general - reset - then reset settings & accessibility & network then factory reset , and DO NOT restore APPS and SETTINGS again plz plz ,
just restore your Messages if needed & restore you contacts from imported file to SD card for example or from google account , but don't restore any apps or app settings & download them again as new phone from the play store & samsung store
you will find all problems with battery is solved & no heating up etc.. and no complains that the exynos is not as good as SD855

I agree with this. I've seen exynos users who has battery problems were mainly due to the fact they restore their devices from their old device(i think it was called smart switch). Try to just set up your phone as new then download the apps you need and setup the phone again.
i have issues with my s10+ it keeps on losing 1 percent every 2 mins. everytime i charge my fone to 100% and remove the charger cable it immediately drops to 99% and so on every 2-3 mins. it was very frustrating knowing i bought flagship model from samsung. i tried this solution but it automaticall y restore the apps from samsung store and google account as it was backed up before. now im stuck with this battery sucking device. kindly advise if i did something wrong with the process as i am not a techy guy. thank you.
So are you trying to tell me that if I reset my phone and then reinstall all apps without backups, I will miraculously have butter smooth 60fps in pubg and that the thermal throttling issues will be gone? Lol this totally ain't soc related.
