wired headphone crashes audio playpack - Moto G4 Plus Questions & Answers

Hi,
my audio playback crashes reproducibly after seconds to minutes when i listen to music (play a video, make a call..) with any -> wired <- headset or headphones connected.
After that i have to reboot the phone to get audio working again; just unplugging headphones leaves the device also silent until next reboot.
The crash affects incoming call ringing, calls, anything related to audio.
I don't now when it started, must have been during winter time because Bluetooth audio playback works with no problems.
I'm unrooted and on stock rom. The OTA update to nougat did not solve the problem, either, as well as deleting cache.
Motorola support told me to reset phone before further support steps will be considered. I did not yet reset the whole phone, because i need it during traveling..
If anyone knows the problem, maybe related to an app,... let me know

Same thing here , stock or custom ROMs.FM radio works good but that's about it.

New Bluetooth Issue after MR - Weird Problem Playing Music/Podcasts via B/T Speakers

So the bluetooth ROM leak issue is definitely fixed. I can reboot the phone and it is still paired with my car, and I am able to make & receive calls perfectly.
However, when I try to play music or podcasts via the bluetooth speakers, absolutely nothing is heard. The music app/podcast player (BeyondPod) both show that they are playing, but nothing is heard. When I turn bluetooth off, both apps play their respective files perfectly through the phone speaker.
Whats REALLY weird is that when trying to play through bluetooth, they both are playing super fast i.e. for every second that passes in reality, the player says that it has played about 4 seconds (almost like its in fast forward).
Although its great that bluetooth can now pair perfectly and stay paired, Im now completely unable to play any media.
Would like to know if anyone else is experiencing this and/or has any ideas.
This is the ONLY issue I now have with the Hero and Im determined to get it sorted...
Thanks for all the help/comments

I have two CDMA Heros in my household, one rooted and one not. The unrooted phone went through the OTA update without problem and it played music over bluetooth speakers without any problem, just as it did before the OTA update.
I think it's an app setting of some sort. Some apps allow you to turn BT audio on and off. Try another app, like ACast or something.

Fresh ROM Bluetooth Issue Confirmed - Prevents Media Being played throgh B/T Speakers
OK, so Ive just confirmed that the Fresh 0.4 ROM has an issue with playing media through bluetooth speakers, and Sprint/HTC are 100% NOT responsible for it.
Originally, I restored back to my original Sprint ROM, updated to Fresh 0.4, and all worked perfectly; except for the fact that I was unable to play any media whatsoever through bluetooth speakers (making and receiving phone calls worked fine and all bluetooth ROM leak issues were fixed). What was weird was that the music app and podcast app i was using (BeyondPod) showed that they were playing, but they looked as if they were playing in fast forward i.e. for every second that past, 4 seconds of the song/podcast were played according to the app. NB: The phone and the speakers showed that the link was established perfectly (for whatever thats worth)
I then decided to go back to when I first got the Hero i.e. use the Sprint RUU to unroot and got back to original ROM. Then did the OTA MR.
Playing media through the speakers worked 100% perfectly.
So bottom line, something has been changed/removed in the Fresh ROM that messes up media via bluetooth.
I havent come across anyone else talking about this, but any additional info would be great.
All the best.
I have done a fresh clean (started with Sprint RUU) to a fresh 0.4 update (not from modaco) and i also have this issue. I also tried the above check and i got the same results. Please if you have this issue, contact the makers of fresh rom and let them know of the issue if they do not already know.

[SOLVED] Headphone jack stops working after TTS call announce

Anyone else get this issue?
Is this a known issue?
Is there a fix?
Gets annoying, as I use my phone as my radio source and plug it into my stereo via headphone jack. Two out of three times it will not pipe the headphone audio out, but will when I reboot it (a 4-5 minute process as you can imagine).
For clarity, the following takes place:
4+ hours elapse since last phone reboot..
I start Pandora or similar audio program,
Music, talk, etc begins playing out speakerphone,
I turn on stereo and plug phone into stereo,
Audio stops.
I unplug headphone jack,
Audio resumes playing out speakerphone.
I reboot phone,
I start Pandora or similar audio app,
Audio plays out speakerphone,
I plug in headphone jack,
Audio plays through stereo as it should.
Rinse and repeat every 4+ hours.
Bump.
Does nobody else have this issue?

I did, it was getting shut down by my text to speech services. Instead of rebooting, I can go to the settings, text to speech, and play the sample, it will kick the headset connection back on.

Sure enough, that worked perfected to get the sound routing correctly again without a reboot. The new question is.. how can we prevent this requirement? Obviously this isn't normal behavior. What causes the headphone routing to choke in the first place?
Heeeeeellifiknow. I don't even know what made me think to check the tts output of all things. I do have a call announcer (not using the stock tts call announcer). I was mostly just resigned to see if the problem stayed after the delayed froyo update, or if we end up getting a gingerbread rom.
I, too, use a 3rd party announcer (Call Announcer). I'm betting the option for call announcer to use its own TTS settings is what screws it up. I'll let you know once I test the theory (after I get a call).

The issue is definitely caused by Call Announcer, not the fascinate software. I had headphone working, then had someone call me, and the headphone stopped working. No options in Call announcer changed the issue.
I filed a bug report with the author of Call Announcer, but until then, uninstall Call Announcer if you want the bug to go away.

No audio or voice with calls? Pls Help!

My sister has TMO S4 stock and for some reason she's loosing the ability to hear any call and no one can hear her either.
I went as far as to check the phone myself and it's not the hardware at this point.
I was able to record audio and play back no problem but all calls there was no audio, not even through the headphone jack.
However, I was able to playback audio such as music no problem, even recorded audio and playback through headphones without issues but not calls. Bluetooth worked but she doesn't like it, ugh.
I just had her do a factory reset thinking it might be something she downloaded that might be the problem. The audio seemed to work but now after about 2hrs it stopped again and this is before she even re-installed any apps.
Has anyone come across this issue? If so how did you fix it?
Thanks!
What apps did you install?
Press Thanks if I helped

No Bluetooth after call....?

Wierd issue. Use to work but not now. When I'm on Bluetooth and take or make a phone call on Bluetooth... And then after the call try and play media through Bluetooth, it won't have sound. Max volume. Shows as playing. But nothing. Not even through phone speaker. It's as if the dialer app didn't release the Bluetooth control after the call.
Only way to fix is to turn off Bluetooth and back on.
Anyway to fix?
I had this happen once or twice, but not recently. I use bluetooth in my car but my factory radio in my car only has BT for calls, not music. I have a small A2DP device that plays music through the AUX in on the radio. A few times if I took a call via BT for the car, when the call ended the music wouldn't resume. I'd go to Spotify and it showed as playing but no sound came out. I never tried resetting bluetooth because when I'm driving it's easier to just hold power until the phone reboots, then it works fine.
mine does it when I'm using the amazon music player, doesn't matter if I'm on a call or not. Every now and then it just stops sending audio to the radio. If I turn the phone on, the lockscreen shows that the song is playing, but zero audio.
If I pause / play / pause on the lockscreen it usually resumes playing. Very odd issue. Still better than the problems I was having with my note4.
I've seen this issue on android for years. I'll have the same issue if I say Okay Google and Google doesn't recognize what I say.

In call speakerphone issue on Android 8.1

Hi,
I never had any issues with my 6P, but out of nowhere, observing since few days that my speakerphone whether be in regular phone call or whatsapp call is not working. However, audio plays fine otherwise in apps like youtube etc. I tried doing factory reset, and reflashing 8.1 stock, still didn't help.
I tried going to 8.0 Dec firmware but ended up in bootloop issue(which I never saw otherwise), so re-installed 8.1 Jan package.
This is driving me nuts not being able to use the device for whatsapp kinda calls.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
anyone please?
Do you mean people can't hear you or you can't hear them on speaker phone? If other apps are working, it's not speaker but mic problem.
I can't hear on speakerphone, others hear well.

I would do a complete wipe including internal (back up everything.) Then flash latest 8.1 with bootloader, vendor and radio through fastboot. If still doesn't work must be issue with hardware .
I have the same phone and the same problem. I doubt it's a hardware problem. I don't have a solution either as I've tried many things.
Same issue with mine, they haven't missed off the lines of code again, on speaker phone audio is only coming from 1 speaker.
I still have this issue, has anyone managed to resolve this.
Same issue here. I thought it was Bluetooth related until I tested it today with Bluetooth off. When making or receiving calls sometimes audio will not work at all thigh speaker phone or regular call audio out.
A temporary fix for me is turning speakerphone on and off a couple times then audio is usually recovered.
I noticed this typically happens when audio interruptions occur for instance your listing to Spotify via speaker or Bluetooth and then make a call causing an audio Interruption to switch to call audio from media audio.
Definitely not a hardware issue and very annoying hoping to have a phone for more than 2 years without so many issues.
